[00:01:12] Listen.
[00:01:13] As we do every week, I need you to do two things for me when you come in and I did do one thing for me before you leave.
[00:01:19] First thing I need to do, whenever platform me listening to this particular podcast, what you don't have to like it.
[00:01:26] I want you to go ahead and subscribe.
[00:01:28] And before you leave, make sure you release share this podcast if you find any value in it with least 2 people.
[00:01:34] If I had two people to come back with you next week, kind of like tourists like go get a visitor and come back with us like a coworker.
[00:01:40] You could as a nail, you know, have come back.
[00:01:43] And listen to this particular conversation.
[00:01:47] Listen, I want to stop this conversation by saying this.
[00:01:51] What you hear can ultimately alter what and how you perceive something.
[00:01:58] And do or someone.
[00:02:01] This particular quote kind of falls in line with some of the topics that we have been talking about in the first two episodes.
[00:02:09] When it comes to finding purpose this year.
[00:02:15] Walking in purpose, discovering your purpose, living out purpose and ultimately asking God for direction in your purpose.
[00:02:25] But with purpose, there's also an element of people.
[00:02:30] We are all put on this earth to enter mingle and to twine with each other.
[00:02:36] Build relationships, build friendships.
[00:02:41] And that is the the the the the courage to almost of our life is partially relationships.
[00:02:48] And one thing you'll learn about me as we go through this journey of podcasting and you know having these dialogues conversations.
[00:02:56] I am not Mr. Bashahater for like a better word.
[00:03:02] I'm not the guy that's going to get in your face and say, man, you know, God's going bless you as part of your haters.
[00:03:08] And you know, hate or this and hate or hate or that I personally believe even that relationship is necessary.
[00:03:17] A naysay or is necessary.
[00:03:21] Because how do you gain the confidence in knowing that you have the capability and ability to do something without their being a negative push in your back saying that you might not be able to.
[00:03:35] But with that being said, we are all driven by influence in a lot of times.
[00:03:44] We don't live in our purpose walking our purpose and even sometimes fulfill our purpose because of the influence that infiltrates our thought processes in our minds.
[00:03:56] I'm I'm a firm believer that my generation and everything after us we have instant self esteem killers.
[00:04:08] We have devices and we we have tribes.
[00:04:15] We have voices in our ears all day long for instance this is a podcast.
[00:04:21] I'm probably in your ear right now getting ready to influence you on something.
[00:04:26] We have a vast ray of social media that every day allows us to get the glimpse into somebody else's life and ultimately allows it to influence us sometimes in a good way.
[00:04:40] Sometimes in a bad way and it also can cause comparison.
[00:04:44] Think comparison is one of those influences that can hinder your process when you're looking for your purpose because you're trying to use someone else's measuring stick to identify where you are.
[00:05:00] One thing I'm learning is I can't look at anybody else's life and measure my life by it.
[00:05:09] We all are on a different courses we're all taking different roads.
[00:05:15] We're all driving in different vehicles my vehicle might not be able to go the speed of your vehicle your vehicle may not be able to go the speed of my vehicle.
[00:05:25] So to assess my life based off of the vehicle I see next to me.
[00:05:31] Sometimes be a hindrance because I don't know what's under the hood of that vehicle.
[00:05:35] I don't know that vehicles capabilities and what it can handle.
[00:05:39] So influence plays a big part in our daily lives.
[00:05:45] And one thing I'm learning is finding out is influence should it stop your purpose.
[00:05:58] Not only that we need to be aware of who has influence in our lives.
[00:06:08] Because ultimately who has influence in our life will sometimes determine if we even believe in ourselves.
[00:06:17] Most of the time the people who influence influence us should be the people who believe in us.
[00:06:25] They should be the people who rock with us the longest or have seen us out our lows and seen us at our highs and they can see our potential in our capabilities.
[00:06:36] And we would think that those are the people that should have the most influence on us because honestly those should be the people who can't keep it real with us.
[00:06:47] We shouldn't want anybody in your life to have so much influence but little character when it comes to you.
[00:06:55] Everybody in your life that gives that as their influence to your life should do it from a place of wanting to see you thrive and should do it from a place of wanting to see you be the very best version of you.
[00:07:11] In vice versa I don't ever think we should ask for influence that we're not willing to give.
[00:07:18] I can't ask for a great friend if I'm not willing to be a great friend myself.
[00:07:27] But with influence also comes negative influence when I'm personally finding out it's this.
[00:07:37] For many of us.
[00:07:41] Some of the struggles we have.
[00:07:44] Don't come from the voices we hear.
[00:07:48] But from the voices of the people who are around us what are the people around you giving their air to.
[00:08:02] Are they people who are constantly in our ways of digesting positive thoughts, positive comments, positive conversations.
[00:08:14] Do they themselves have a great sense of self worth and self esteem.
[00:08:22] Because a lot of the time it's not our enemies that had the biggest influence on us.
[00:08:28] For many of us are enemies opinion on us most at a time really don't even matter.
[00:08:36] You tell me right now hey man I don't think you're great.
[00:08:44] If you are a hate or quote unquote or enemy of mine I don't think I have many but they're awesome.
[00:08:52] But you have to say really doesn't affect my course of life.
[00:08:58] But if one of my friends came up to me my closest friends only got two of them.
[00:09:05] I'm not going to be a part of the world.
[00:09:15] somebody I know that doesn't really like me from the beginning. So for many of us,
[00:09:23] the issue is not that our enemies are talking. The issue is who's air their words landed?
[00:09:42] So now we have to ask the question,
[00:09:46] what are the people who I hold in high regard?
[00:09:52] Who has their ear? Who are they talking to?
[00:10:03] What things are they digesting? What circles do they kick it in?
[00:10:16] Right. I sometimes find it hard when certain people, you know,
[00:10:22] have friends who kick it with other groups of people.
[00:10:26] Don't really like them.
[00:10:29] It's kind of hard for me at that point in the like, call you my friend.
[00:10:32] You may be in the associate.
[00:10:35] You may be a colleague.
[00:10:38] We may even find some common ground on some things.
[00:10:42] But they really call you my friend. I now have to make certain assessments to our relationship.
[00:10:51] Because I enjoy the time most of my friends.
[00:10:55] I don't know about those.
[00:10:58] Both of my friends stand over six feet tall.
[00:11:02] And you say too much about me.
[00:11:06] You lip might get spoiled and before you finish talking.
[00:11:11] Because they hold me in that high of a guard,
[00:11:14] invites versus you can't talk about my friends too much around me.
[00:11:18] Matter of fact, you can't talk about them at all to me.
[00:11:22] Because that's the loyalty of our relationship.
[00:11:27] That's the fabric of our relationship. We're not just friends. We're brothers.
[00:11:33] So it's only put so far. I'm a ledger. You talk about my brother.
[00:11:37] Before me, you had to have conversation.
[00:11:45] So with that, we now have to ask this question.
[00:11:51] Do our friends guard their influence?
[00:11:56] What does that mean, D.P?
[00:11:58] Do they protect their ears?
[00:12:01] Not just from gossip that they may hear about you.
[00:12:09] But do they protect their ear from anything that would diminish their own self-value?
[00:12:20] Watch this because if they don't see themselves in a high regard,
[00:12:24] they surely can't see you in a high regard.
[00:12:27] If they're not people who are walking in purpose,
[00:12:33] they sure will make sure that you're taking proper steps to get to your purpose.
[00:12:45] So check this out. Put the glasses on.
[00:12:48] There's a story in the Bible.
[00:12:52] If you haven't learned from this podcast already,
[00:12:56] I like to give a lot of biblical illustration.
[00:12:58] I know biblical theologian, no smart guy.
[00:13:03] Matter of fact, I'm trying to make sure that I keep my voice at a certain tone
[00:13:07] because I got some feedback from episode two in one of my friends was like,
[00:13:14] you sound like you preach in bro.
[00:13:15] I was like, yeah, that's not the purpose of this podcast.
[00:13:18] So I'm mellowing out my tone to make sure that my voice doesn't have any infotulations.
[00:13:26] So make sure you know I don't, I don't get too preachery.
[00:13:29] But sometimes, you know, there's a little preacher guy that lives in the back of my mind.
[00:13:34] He's probably about three feet tall, has a little jerk or he gets loud at the time.
[00:13:41] I try to keep him in the back.
[00:13:43] Needless to say,
[00:13:47] in the year of 2022,
[00:13:51] I started looking at certain things differently.
[00:13:59] All right, it's the pandemic.
[00:14:02] And you know, it's 2020 and everybody's other than you know,
[00:14:08] 2020 vision this in 2020 vision.
[00:14:11] Now, now the idea.
[00:14:15] And me personally, when new years come, I tried to figure out the meaning of those years.
[00:14:20] But again, also trying to find certain biblical principles that I'm going to
[00:14:30] use for that year or certain driving forces for me personally,
[00:14:35] that'll help me stay on course with that year.
[00:14:37] And in that particular year,
[00:14:40] I was you know, trying to find scripture on vision and sight and you know,
[00:14:45] all that good stuff and I ended up coming to a story in the book of Mark and
[00:14:53] America where Jesus heals this blind man, you know, from Beth say to and
[00:15:02] crazy me, I've heard this particular story like my whole life.
[00:15:05] It's not a long miracle.
[00:15:07] Then take it all.
[00:15:07] It's not a holiday thing.
[00:15:10] But I want to figure out what was the purpose of the miracle when we look at the Bible
[00:15:15] when we learn these things about the Bible.
[00:15:17] Jesus worked a lot of miracles.
[00:15:20] Not necessarily because that's what he came on earth to do or he had to do.
[00:15:25] But the miracles that he did, he was doing them to
[00:15:30] make awareness to his disciples of who he was.
[00:15:33] They were training moments.
[00:15:35] They were teaching moments.
[00:15:37] There are moments for disciples to grasp certain lessons that Jesus was trying to teach.
[00:15:44] So that particular miracle again, just heads up to everybody who may be new to the Bible
[00:15:55] or reading your Bible.
[00:15:57] Please read your Bible or the scriptures that you're reading.
[00:16:04] Read them in their totality.
[00:16:06] So you know how we sometimes do.
[00:16:08] We try to find scriptures, not suit what we're trying to do or you know,
[00:16:15] first to make a point.
[00:16:16] If we take them completely out of their context.
[00:16:21] So I'm not wanting to take this particular miracle out of context.
[00:16:25] I had to go back and I had to read all of chapter eight of Mark starting from verse one.
[00:16:34] Actually, you really figure out why Jesus decided to do this miracle.
[00:16:41] Not going to take all the little break because you probably only got a couple of minutes left.
[00:16:44] So let's put your glasses on.
[00:16:47] Let's have this quick conversation.
[00:16:52] Begin of Mark eight.
[00:16:54] Jesus works in miracle where he feeds 4,000 with loads and fishing.
[00:17:01] Right?
[00:17:01] Jesus is preaching.
[00:17:03] There was an preaching.
[00:17:05] He's like, man.
[00:17:07] The crowd is hungry.
[00:17:09] I'm hungry.
[00:17:10] I'll go find me some fish.
[00:17:13] I already got degrees.
[00:17:15] Let's have a fish fry.
[00:17:17] Jesus decides to have another fish fry.
[00:17:23] And when he's done, him and his disciples are getting on a boat because they are getting ready to go to another city.
[00:17:29] Bible says as they get ready to go to this to this city, Jesus is faced with the conversation from Pharisees.
[00:17:44] And they're pretty much in the sense almost kind of taunting Jesus like we bet you can't do this again.
[00:17:51] My and you as Jesus is walking out his purpose, his ultimate goal in life.
[00:18:01] There are naysayers the whole way through he has enemies.
[00:18:06] Again, that's why you won't hear me talk a lot of enemy bashing or hater bashing or you know, God's going to bless you when it's by the of because on in all honesty,
[00:18:18] we need that relationship.
[00:18:20] We need that fuel.
[00:18:23] We need that perspective of defeating something because they say it's not possible, but here's something amazing that Jesus does after they don't him and you know,
[00:18:39] give us another miracle your Jesus.
[00:18:42] Oh, that's just bread and fish you've done that before do it do another miracle.
[00:18:47] Jesus gives them a very mature answer and says, I'm in a nutshell, I'm not doing it again.
[00:18:54] He wasted no time having a back and forth conversation with them about his ability.
[00:19:02] Can I let you in on something real quick?
[00:19:05] Put your glasses on.
[00:19:07] Don't waste any time this year explaining yourself and who you are and who you are becoming.
[00:19:16] To anybody.
[00:19:18] Whether they second guess it, don't like it.
[00:19:21] Got a problem with it.
[00:19:24] Do not allow yourself to waste too much time explaining who you are to people who don't care about who you are already.
[00:19:37] So she's pretty much dismissive them.
[00:19:40] Like, yo, I'm not doing it again.
[00:19:42] So, you know,
[00:19:43] young go somewhere else with that.
[00:19:47] In the boat, him the disciples and the disciples start to argue amongst amongst each other.
[00:19:56] The Bible says that the disciples forget to pack bread because they're getting ready going on another trip.
[00:20:00] So they forget to bring food with them.
[00:20:02] And immediately Jesus tells them something that really the first time I read it popped out of me.
[00:20:11] It popped out of me.
[00:20:13] Jesus tells them to beware of the contaminating yeast of the Pharisees and the followers of herit.
[00:20:28] I don't have a whole lot of time to give you a whole backdrop of what a Pharisee is and what herit is.
[00:20:34] But they're pretty much outside influences.
[00:20:39] They're governmental influences and there are super spiritual self-righteous influences that at the time were forces that were coming against
[00:20:51] Jesus's
[00:20:54] ability to be himself.
[00:20:58] There are pretty much opposing forces saying you're not really a Messiah, you're not really a king.
[00:21:04] We know Moses is law.
[00:21:06] We know there's there's a champion coming in there's a savor coming, but you're not him.
[00:21:11] They've been doubting him the whole time.
[00:21:14] Jesus tells them something really really really important.
[00:21:20] In the message Bible, he says be very careful.
[00:21:26] Keep a sharp eye out for the contaminating yeast of the Pharisees and the followers of herit.
[00:21:35] And other versions, it says yeast.
[00:21:37] Other versions says 11.
[00:21:41] So I self never heard that before.
[00:21:46] I go and look this up.
[00:21:55] If you bake, you're doing a kind of, you know, making a bread.
[00:22:01] You know that 11 is an agent that causes dough to change.
[00:22:10] There are two familiar forms of 11.
[00:22:15] One is baking soda, one is yeast.
[00:22:18] So typically baking soda works a little faster than yeast does.
[00:22:24] Yeast has certain bacteria in it that allow your bread to take shape into tech form.
[00:22:34] But it does it a whole lot slower.
[00:22:38] Then baking soda and or baking powder.
[00:22:42] But mind you, this ingredient of 11 is only put in the dough while it's being made.
[00:22:56] Influrant is only going to come at the time of your making.
[00:23:03] While you're in the process of walking out your purpose,
[00:23:08] while you're in the process of learning about who you are,
[00:23:13] this is when the contamination of certain inflows are going to come to see if it can change the texture of what you're supposed to become.
[00:23:31] So Jesus tells them be careful.
[00:23:34] Watch out for them because you don't want to be contaminated.
[00:23:48] What's contaminating the people who are supposed to be the closest to you?
[00:24:01] Because an unhealthy amount of yeast can cause an infection.
[00:24:12] Now by this point, if you look at what Jesus has narrated, tell his disciples,
[00:24:18] almost sounds like the disciples have allowed too much of the influence of the Pharisees to get in them.
[00:24:27] Because right after Jesus works a miracle of multiplying bread,
[00:24:33] the disciples get in the fight about not having bread.
[00:24:38] In Jesus kind of gets upset.
[00:24:45] He asks them where you're not with me when I fed 5,000.
[00:24:51] They're playing, maybe?
[00:24:53] And Jesus will teach you what you mean.
[00:24:55] He says, I'm going to be baskets for a life after that.
[00:24:59] I was like, I think there's like 12 baskets.
[00:25:03] He said, you know, I know we just got on this boat,
[00:25:08] but before we got here, did I not just feed 4,000 people with the same ingredients?
[00:25:17] We had the first time.
[00:25:18] Yeah, let me get me.
[00:25:22] Let me be basically here, look.
[00:25:25] I think it was about 5, 5, 6 baskets.
[00:25:28] So you said, oh, you still don't see?
[00:25:31] You're arguing about not having something that I can make an abundance of.
[00:25:47] Some of us have allowed the influence of other people.
[00:25:51] It's a cause us to be stressed about certain things that God can do for us in abundance.
[00:26:04] Do you know that certain people who's perspective on God, but sometimes cause you,
[00:26:09] tonight I have a clear perspective on God.
[00:26:13] Right, well, why are you going to church so much?
[00:26:17] You don't, you would a church, you don't need to go to church.
[00:26:20] That much, you know, God knows your heart.
[00:26:23] That's an influence that will cause certain people who may need to be in the company of church.
[00:26:34] So not go no more, but you know, I wouldn't go that church if I was you.
[00:26:38] I just wouldn't go.
[00:26:43] So now you've allowed their yeast to become an abundance in you,
[00:26:55] ultimately given you an infection in causing a change in the texture,
[00:27:02] if I feel about going to church.
[00:27:05] They just want your money.
[00:27:07] I want to keep going there.
[00:27:09] I want to church one is your money.
[00:27:12] So now you find yourself scratching your head when you go to church.
[00:27:17] One during why they got a cat leg.
[00:27:21] Why do, why do pastor? Why do pastor?
[00:27:27] Why do pastor?
[00:27:29] God don't go to church.
[00:27:35] Whether they're taking your money or not,
[00:27:39] if you've been in a place where you've given money or given your time or given offerings
[00:27:44] and after you've given them, you've actually seen God take the little sacrifice that you've given him
[00:27:50] and given you an abundance, you've now allowed their influence, their yeast to cause you
[00:27:58] to change your perspective on how you see the ability of God to work in your life.
[00:28:03] This year, be careful with influence.
[00:28:09] I'm had to do a part two to this because I want to finish the rest of this particular story
[00:28:20] and I want to talk to you about the miracle because one of the first things Jesus does
[00:28:26] when they get to be able to say that there's a crowd of people that bring him a blind man.
[00:28:34] The first thing he does when he sees the blind man is he takes him away from influence.
[00:28:44] He doesn't work in miracle, he doesn't pray for the guy, he doesn't let hands on the guy.
[00:28:51] The very first thing he does is isolate him.
[00:28:59] For some of us, beginning of the year, you might need to isolate whether that's coming off.
[00:29:09] So, it should be the lead in certain numbers, whether that's not talking to certain people to after Easter.
[00:29:17] I'm not talking to you until Jesus gets up.
[00:29:21] Whatever that looks like for you, so that you're able to walk in a way where certain influences don't corrupt the texture of your relationship with your purpose.
[00:29:39] Because above all things, you need to believe in yourself.
[00:29:48] You need to know that whatever it is that you desire to do this year and whatever it is, you're filling your heart.
[00:29:56] God may be telling you to do this year, you have the ability to do it with no outside influences.
[00:30:04] You know how to assess the relationships in the people that are around you.
[00:30:13] To make sure that their influences peer.
[00:30:17] To make sure that what they're hanging, what they're listening to, not only benefits them.
[00:30:28] But also benefits you.
[00:30:33] Because most of us get poured into and get encouraged and get loved on by our friends, by our families, by the ones that we love and hold closer to our hearts.
[00:30:49] But if what's.
[00:30:53] Infiltrating their ear is a bad influence to you.
[00:30:58] It's going to change the texture of your relationship with them.
[00:31:04] Anything that will make somebody look at you and give you the side eye when they should know who you are, when they shouldn't know your capabilities, when they should know your character.
[00:31:23] But they know that your own pursuit to being the very best you you can be.
[00:31:30] And they get infected by the yeast of your enemies.
[00:31:42] I'm super super so you don't have to isolate from them.
[00:31:55] That's a person you're going to have to say hey, I love you.
[00:31:59] Put the direction I'll go in right now.
[00:32:02] I don't need that in my ear because if it gets in my ear, then it will ultimately get in my heart.
[00:32:14] So what I need to operate from a peer place will be contaminated.
[00:32:22] It's 2024.
[00:32:25] I don't want none of y'all wasting time.
[00:32:28] I don't want any of you being tripped up by stuff that we can nip in the bud early in the year.
[00:32:36] This podcast is going to get real fun and a little while, but at the beginning of the year,
[00:32:41] we're going to have to have some purposeful conversations and give perspective to purpose.
[00:32:49] So that way, we don't find ourselves in June.
[00:32:55] Stuck.
[00:33:00] If, if, for the first three months you just listen to this so that way you can you can get a push to be the very best you you can.
[00:33:10] Let me push you let me help you move in the purpose.
[00:33:20] I'm your push a man.
[00:33:25] We all need one.
[00:33:29] Those those are the kind of influences you need.
[00:33:34] Those are kind of influences you should want you shouldn't want people in circle who aren't positive.
[00:33:41] Who aren't in motion themselves.
[00:33:45] I don't want nobody just around me twiddling their thumbs. What you suppose we do in this year?
[00:33:52] What you suppose be making better this year about your life.
[00:33:58] Assess everybody around you.
[00:34:01] You have a more than assessment.
[00:34:07] So that way you can tell how infected they are.
[00:34:15] So that way you can decide whether you want to keep them around.
[00:34:21] Well not.
[00:34:23] Hopefully you want to keep me around.
[00:34:27] We only three episodes in I hope you have one keep me around.
[00:34:31] I will keep you around.
[00:34:33] We get ready to go.
[00:34:36] I love you.
[00:34:38] When you weigh out, I know what to do.
[00:34:42] Find two people to influence this week.
[00:34:49] Share this podcast with them.
[00:34:53] Like we say every week.
[00:34:55] Put your glasses on.
[00:34:57] Peace.
