[00:00:00] In this episode, we take a deeper look into what is meant by the oft-touted and oft-disparaged
[00:00:07] expression, thoughts and prayers. Tune in.
[00:00:15] Hello, and welcome to MoMo634, the daily podcast chock full of faith-filled inspiration and

[00:00:46] When terrible things happen in our broken and fallen world, you often see people offering
[00:00:53] their heartfelt thoughts and prayers. And, just as often, you see people disparage those
[00:01:01] thoughts and prayers as though they were some trite, small, insignificant acts. Thoughts,
[00:01:11] because we as finite humans cannot always know the right thing to say, but want you to know
[00:01:19] the depth of their care and concern. We'll tell you that they are thinking of you, that your
[00:01:27] pain matters. And prayers? Well, those thoughts people hold of you are so important that they
[00:01:37] have to be placed in hands bigger than our own. The most powerful weapon ever created is the power of
[00:01:47] prayer. Because of prayer, it did not rain for three and a half years. And then because of prayer,
[00:01:58] it rained again. Ask Elijah. Because of prayer, wombs that had been utterly barren were opened.
[00:02:10] Ask Hannah, Sarah, and Elizabeth, the latter two of whom were well past childbearing years,
[00:02:18] rendering the answered prayer miraculous. Through prayer, sins are forgiven.
[00:02:27] James 5, 6-17. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us. Romans 8, 26-27.
[00:02:41] We approach the very throne of God, creator of everything. Hebrews 4, 16. Ephesians 2, 18.
[00:02:51] Hebrews 10, 19-22, among other passages. When my oldest son was born, there were very serious
[00:03:03] complications at birth. He had an apgar of one, had to be revived twice, and had a seizure the next
[00:03:12] morning. We were told there might be long-lasting respiratory and neurological effects.
[00:03:21] Two days after his birth, I was still confined to the hospital, but my husband attended worship services.
[00:03:28] People were astounded to see him, and neither of us understood why, as that was our custom every Lord's
[00:03:35] day. After several expressed that he should be at the hospital with us, my husband responded with the
[00:03:44] essence of what I'm trying to get across in this episode. In being here and praying to God, honoring him
[00:03:54] with my worship as commanded, I am in the best place I can be to help them. Three days later, our son was
[00:04:05] unconditionally released from the hospital with a clean bill of health. That was on a Wednesday, the other day
[00:04:15] of the week we attend services. And this time, both my son and I were there with my husband.
[00:04:25] As our meme for today says, thoughts and prayers, do not disparage them. They are two of the greatest
[00:04:35] gifts one can offer. In the comments below, chime in with the time you saw an answered prayer that changed
[00:04:45] your world.
[00:05:18] Thank you.
