[00:00:01] It's easy to look at the lives of others and feel a little envious.
[00:00:06] There's another way to look at things, however.
[00:00:09] Tune in!
[00:00:10] Hello and welcome to MoMo634,
[00:00:16] The Daily Podcast Chalk Full of Faithful, Inspiration and Motivation.
[00:00:21] MoMo634, Motivational Moments, just for today.
[00:00:43] Welcome to a new episode.
[00:00:45] Please be sure to like, follow, share, subscribe,
[00:00:48] and or review on whatever platform you use to tune in.
[00:00:53] If you subscribe to our motivational minute each morning,
[00:00:57] you know I generally read a short scripture and pair it with a video
[00:01:01] and corresponding sound effects.
[00:01:04] However, there are a number of passages that are longer
[00:01:07] and won't fit in one of those little packages.
[00:01:10] I want to read one of them for this episode
[00:01:13] because I don't think I'm alone in looking at others
[00:01:17] and thinking how awesome their lives are
[00:01:19] or looking at stuff they have
[00:01:21] or a success as they've achieved
[00:01:23] and being a little envious.
[00:01:27] Earlier this week I talked about David
[00:01:29] and his ups and downs in Psalms.
[00:01:32] His music director, Aceaf,
[00:01:34] also wrote a few of the Psalms,
[00:01:36] including the one I'd like to focus on today.
[00:01:40] Psalms 73.
[00:01:42] Truly God is good to Israel.
[00:01:46] To those who are pure and heart.
[00:01:48] But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled.
[00:01:52] My steps had nearly slipped.
[00:01:55] For I was envious of the arrogant
[00:01:57] when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
[00:02:00] For they have no pangs until death,
[00:02:03] their bodies are fat and sleek.
[00:02:05] They're not in trouble as others are.
[00:02:08] They're not stricken like the rest of mankind.
[00:02:11] Therefore pride is their necklace.
[00:02:15] Violence covers them as a garment.
[00:02:17] They're eyes swell out through fatness.
[00:02:20] Their hearts overflow with follies.
[00:02:23] They scoff and speak with malice
[00:02:26] loftily they threaten oppression.
[00:02:28] They sit their mouths against the heavens
[00:02:31] and their tongue struts through the earth.
[00:02:34] Therefore, his people turned back to them
[00:02:37] and find no fault in them
[00:02:39] and they say, how can God know?
[00:02:42] Is there knowledge in the most high?
[00:02:45] Behold, these are the wicked.
[00:02:48] Always at ease, they increase enriches.
[00:02:52] All in vain have I kept my heart clean
[00:02:56] and washed my hands in innocence.
[00:02:58] For all the day long I have been stricken
[00:03:01] and rebuked every morning.
[00:03:03] If I had said, I will speak thus.
[00:03:06] I would have betrayed the generation of your children.
[00:03:11] But when I thought how to understand this,
[00:03:14] it seemed to me a worrisome task
[00:03:17] until I went into the sanctuary of God.
[00:03:20] Then I discerned their end.
[00:03:24] Truly, you set them in slippery places
[00:03:27] you make them fall to ruin
[00:03:29] how they are destroyed in a moment
[00:03:32] swept away utterly by terrors.
[00:03:35] Like a dream when one wakes,
[00:03:38] oh Lord, when you rouse yourself,
[00:03:40] you despise them as phantoms.
[00:03:42] When my soul was imbittered.
[00:03:45] When I was pricked in heart,
[00:03:47] I was brutish and ignorant.
[00:03:49] I was like a beast toward you.
[00:03:52] Nevertheless, I am continually with you.
[00:03:56] You hold my right hand.
[00:03:58] You guide me with your counsel.
[00:04:01] And afterward, you will receive me to glory.
[00:04:06] Who have I in heaven but you?
[00:04:08] And there is nothing on earth
[00:04:10] that I desire beside you.
[00:04:13] My flesh and my heart may fail,
[00:04:16] but God is the strength of my heart
[00:04:18] and my portion forever.
[00:04:21] For behold, those who are far from you shall perish.
[00:04:25] You put an end to everyone
[00:04:28] who is unfaithful to you.
[00:04:30] But for me, it is good to be near God.
[00:04:34] I have made the Lord my refuge
[00:04:36] that I may tell of all your works.
[00:04:40] Our meme for today says,
[00:04:43] The grass may be greener on the other side of the fence,
[00:04:47] but powered by drainage from the septic tank.
