[00:00:00] An old song, a calendar, and sweet memories set the scene for an episode on the inevitability
[00:00:07] of change. Tune in.
[00:00:13] Hello, and welcome to MoMo634, the daily podcast chock-full of faith-filled inspiration and
[00:00:20] motivation. Please like, share, and subscribe. MoMo634, Motivational Moments, just for today.
[00:00:44] The titular song is perfect for this episode as we prepare to wrap up 2024 with a neat little
[00:00:52] bow before tucking it into the archives and annals of time. Though I hated the song then,
[00:00:59] and truthfully, I'm no fonder of it now. The song by Al Stewart sums up not only this time
[00:01:07] of year, but bits of what's going on in my own life. The lyrics say,
[00:01:13] Well, I'm not the kind to live in the past. The years run too short and the days too fast.
[00:01:20] The things you lean on are the things that don't last. Well, it's just now and then my line gets cast
[00:01:27] into these time passages.
[00:01:32] Today we are close to wrapping up our post-Christmas holiday tradition we made up when my oldest was
[00:01:38] just a baby. It's a week-long celebration dedicated to hitting after-Christmas sales,
[00:01:44] where we'd get little trinkets for each other, leading up to New Year's Eve, which is hubby's
[00:01:49] and my anniversary. This year we hit number 35.
[00:01:55] We've lived in our home for three years now, and while we got all the basic stuff,
[00:02:01] there were some organizational things we've wanted, so that was our gift to each other.
[00:02:07] With the help of my sons, we just completed the pantry reorganization.
[00:02:13] However, it's clear this year is a true transition marker.
[00:02:18] Our kids are fully grown, with their own friends and interests, and it's time to turn the page
[00:02:27] on some of these traditions and make way for the new normal.
[00:02:32] It's bittersweet, and thankfully, we've gotten to spend a lot of time together over this holiday season,
[00:02:40] though changes are occurring.
[00:02:42] When we were homeschooling, I remember thinking I would not have my kids forever.
[00:02:48] And the day would come when I would treasure the memories we were creating.
[00:02:54] I'm so thankful for all the years of extra time I got with them that homeschooling created for us.
[00:03:03] Yes, the years run too short and the days too fast.
[00:03:10] I thought it would be harder to make these changes given the rigidity of OCD.
[00:03:15] But the goal all along has been to create strong, morally upright, independent people.
[00:03:23] And so truly, in that, Hubby and I have been blessed by God to attain that
[00:03:30] as our crowning achievement for our anniversary gift this year.
[00:03:35] 3 John 1.4 says,
[00:03:38] I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
[00:03:45] Our meme for today says,
[00:03:48] It's easy to get myopic in the daily minutia of life,
[00:03:52] but with the march of time, it all creates a brilliant tapestry.
[00:03:59] Tomorrow, Lord willing, we wrap up the year with a list of the top ten episodes this year.
