[00:00:00] How a song and an iconic children's book can help to keep it real. Tune in for more! Hello and welcome to MoMo634, the Daily Podcast Chompful of Faithfield Inspiration and Motivation. Please Like, Share and Subscribe. MoMo634, Motivational Moments, just for today.
[00:00:42] I'm not quite sure exactly what set me off today. The horrible reports of people suffering in the wake of Hurricane Barrel. Poor sleep quality over the weekend, Monday, itis, my severely undercaffinated state. Low tolerance frustration, but most likely some combination of all of the above.
[00:01:07] With that said, I reached into my rainy day toolkit that I talk about so much here. The first song I went to was from my favorite contestant of her season on American Idol, the amazing Mandisa who died earlier this year.
[00:01:25] Though not related to her untimely death, it's no secret, Mandisa struggled with depression. The song, What If We Were Real, Speak To Me? It's about the exhaustion that comes with masking our depression from others and poses the titular question.
[00:01:43] I've often talked about the concept of having a tribe. I'm pretty open about my mental health conditions, and it's been a struggle because not everyone gets it or even wants to be educated, preferring rather to stay in their own bubble of preconceived ideas.
[00:02:02] With us, it's important to have people around that you can let know it's one of those days, which led me to the mental picture of myself having a cloud over my head. Much like EOR.
[00:02:17] Since there are actually books on the psychology of Batman, it led me to wonder if anyone had analyzed the characters of 100 acre woods. And of course, I found articles. So I'm now reading the original Winnie the Pooh with an eye toward noticing these characteristics.
[00:02:38] This book, almost 100 years old, and Mandisa song, almost a century later, both show there are more of us suffering in silence than we know. I reaffirm my commitment to speaking out on these issues based on my own experiences,
[00:02:58] since this podcast, and I hope others step forward as well. With one in four people suffering with a mental health condition, I encourage you to listen to the episodes with tips on what to say, and what not to say, to those struggling with depression.
[00:03:18] Galatians 6 2 says, carry one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Our meme for today says, Be real, be kind, be love in action. Let's all commit to being really real. Thanks for listening to Momo 634. Notivational moments just for today.
