[00:00:00] There is blessing in preparing for the worst, as many of us are seeing with recent events.

[00:00:06] But how can you prepare for what hasn't come yet?

[00:00:09] Tune in for more.

[00:00:15] Hello and welcome to MoMo634, the daily podcast chock full of faith-filled inspiration and

[00:00:22] motivation.

[00:00:23] Please like, share, and subscribe.

[00:00:27] MoMo634 – Motivational Moments just for today.

[00:00:46] Many in America right now are turning our eyes on the eastern seaboard.

[00:00:51] After the devastation of Hurricane Helene, we are now casting a watchful eye toward Milton.

[00:00:58] We're hearing from so many who are sharing their experiences.

[00:01:03] In one long social media post, a woman detailed probably the most horrific days of her life

[00:01:09] in the hope it might help others.

[00:01:12] Though none of us can stop a force of nature, whether an earthquake like I experienced many

[00:01:19] times in my home state of California, including the deadly Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989, or

[00:01:26] hurricanes, or even the tornadoes that plague my new home state of Texas.

[00:01:30] We can be ready for that day.

[00:01:34] In our household, we have people with chronic health conditions.

[00:01:39] For many years, when my oldest son was younger, we had a go-bag with backups of everything.

[00:01:46] He does all of his own care now, but I do periodically remind him how helpful it is to grab a bag when you need it.

[00:01:54] The post this woman made included practical tips for common physical issues she encountered, but also tips for things like pet care and the preservation of personal documents.

[00:02:07] We never think the unthinkable will happen.

[00:02:11] My family teases me a little bit because, as mentioned, this tornado thing is new to us.

[00:02:17] But they have followed me into the inner sanctum of our home a few times, too, thankful for my weird OCD persistence when the tornado warning comes, one of the blessings of neurodiversity, as discussed in previous episodes.

[00:02:33] It was also handy a few weeks after we arrived in Texas, where we had three

[00:02:38] It never happens here!

[00:02:41] weather events back to back within three weeks of our arrival, one of which is what I have deemed

[00:02:48] snowmageddon, a freak storm that left us without power for over 110 hours.

[00:02:56] The week before it hit, I was monitoring the weather closely.

[00:03:01] Obsessively?

[00:03:02] And I kept saying we all needed heavier comforters.

[00:03:07] Feet dragged, and possibly some eyes rolled.

[00:03:11] But you can guess some folks were pretty happy my paranoia proved prescient.

[00:03:17] As mentioned, there's no predictability with these events.

[00:03:21] Sometimes there's a blessed reprieve in the eye of the storm.

[00:03:26] Or the tornado jumps off course.

[00:03:29] Other times they strike with deadly precision, unfortunately, as we are witnessing.

[00:03:36] But there is one day that is coming with 100% certainty.

[00:03:42] It's a day you can read about in several passages in the Bible.

[00:04:09] And so we will always be with the Lord.

[00:04:12] 1 Thessalonians 4, 16 and 17

[00:04:45] And

[00:04:47] 1 Thessalonians 5, 17 and 17

[00:04:48] When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written,

[00:04:57] Death is swallowed up in victory.

[00:04:59] O death, where is your victory?

[00:05:02] O death, where is your sting?

[00:05:05] 1 Corinthians 15, 51-55

[00:05:10] And

[00:05:12] 2 Thessalonians 1, 7-10

[00:05:15] Portends the calamity that far exceeds the events discussed here.

[00:05:21] When the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God,

[00:05:32] and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

[00:05:37] 2 Thessalonians 5, 18

[00:05:37] They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his might,

[00:05:44] when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed,

[00:05:52] because our testimony to you was believed.

[00:05:57] Like the woman in the social media post told people how to prepare,

[00:06:01] so too the Bible again provides guidance in Acts 2, 37 and 38.

[00:06:09] Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,

[00:06:15] Brothers, what shall we do?

[00:06:17] And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ,

[00:06:24] for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

[00:06:35] Our meme for today says,

[00:06:37] We may not be able to prepare for everything that happens in this life, but we can certainly be ready for the next.
