00:00:00 --> 00:00:04 A line from an old Disney movie is the spark for this episode

00:00:05 --> 00:00:06 about new seasons of

00:00:06 --> 00:00:06 life,

00:00:07 --> 00:00:08 new routines,

00:00:08 --> 00:00:11 and a new year as the perfect pivot point.

00:00:12 --> 00:00:12 Tune in.

00:00:15 --> 00:00:16 Hello,

00:00:16 --> 00:00:19 and welcome to Momo 634,

00:00:19 --> 00:00:22 a bite-sized podcast that's chock full of inspiration,

00:00:23 --> 00:00:24 motivation,

00:00:24 --> 00:00:25 and positivity,

00:00:26 --> 00:00:29 straight from the intersection of faith and mental wellness.

00:00:30 --> 00:00:32 Please like, share, and subscribe.

00:00:33 --> 00:00:34 Momo 634.

00:00:34 --> 00:00:38 Motivational moments just for today.

00:00:47 --> 00:00:52 There's a skit on Saturday Night Live satirizing the tendency

00:00:52 --> 00:00:53 in movies for people

00:00:53 --> 00:00:56 to arbitrarily burst into song.

00:00:57 --> 00:01:00 Given the fact that I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket with an

00:01:00 --> 00:01:01 ergonomic handle,

00:01:02 --> 00:01:03 that's not me.

00:01:04 --> 00:01:11 What is very me, however, is a well-timed quote from a movie or TV show.

00:01:13 --> 00:01:18 One movie I borrow from frequently is Disney's The Emperor's New Groove.

00:01:19 --> 00:01:20 I'm linking a clip,

00:01:20 --> 00:01:21 one of my favorites,

00:01:22 --> 00:01:24 that explains the groove,

00:01:25 --> 00:01:27 the rhythm by which one lives their life.

00:01:29 --> 00:01:31 As I shared in the episode with my word for the year,

00:01:32 --> 00:01:34 my world is shifting.

00:01:35 --> 00:01:39 What I'm finding is that I'm settling into a new groove,

00:01:40 --> 00:01:42 a new rhythm to my day.

00:01:43 --> 00:01:46 I hope to do an episode soon on chronotypes,

00:01:46 --> 00:01:48 but suffice it to say,

00:01:48 --> 00:01:53 I am a night owl in a world geared toward the diurnal.

00:01:54 --> 00:01:55 However,

00:01:56 --> 00:01:58 no longer bound by my morning alarm,

00:01:59 --> 00:02:01 I'm finding that I'm settling into a groove,

00:02:02 --> 00:02:04 a rhythm with my sleep.

00:02:05 --> 00:02:10 Long-time listeners know this has been an enormous struggle and

00:02:10 --> 00:02:12 source of frustration for me.

00:02:13 --> 00:02:18 Part of it is the ability now to honor my chronotype.

00:02:19 --> 00:02:22 The other has to do with the supplementation I've mentioned in

00:02:22 --> 00:02:24 recent episodes that

00:02:24 --> 00:02:30 have helped to quiet the anxiety I have lived with all my life

00:02:30 --> 00:02:32 as a byproduct of

00:02:32 --> 00:02:32 the OCD.

00:02:34 --> 00:02:35 In this new year,

00:02:35 --> 00:02:38 and without the aforementioned alarm clock,

00:02:39 --> 00:02:41 I find that I wake,

00:02:41 --> 00:02:42 pray,

00:02:43 --> 00:02:44 take my morning supplements,

00:02:45 --> 00:02:47 get food for the family going in the crock pot,

00:02:48 --> 00:02:52 then I have some solitary breakfast and coffee time while

00:02:52 --> 00:02:53 reading my daily

00:02:53 --> 00:02:53 devotional.

00:02:55 --> 00:02:59 The rhythm of that groove is not just a boon for my chronotype

00:02:59 --> 00:03:01 and emotional regulation.

00:03:02 --> 00:03:07 It's yielding dividends for my mental health and spiritual growth.

00:03:09 --> 00:03:12 I participate in a number of group Bible studies each week,

00:03:13 --> 00:03:18 but I haven't had the consistent solo time for study in quite a while.

00:03:20 --> 00:03:22 In addition to Bible reading time,

00:03:23 --> 00:03:28 I'm also finding time for regular reading and time for knitting,

00:03:28 --> 00:03:32 both with binaural beats or some other calming music,

00:03:33 --> 00:03:33 usually,

00:03:34 --> 00:03:36 if I'm not at my husband's YouTube music channel.

00:03:38 --> 00:03:41 Having lived over six decades moving at what felt like the

00:03:41 --> 00:03:42 speed of light,

00:03:43 --> 00:03:44 this new groove,

00:03:45 --> 00:03:46 new rhythm,

00:03:47 --> 00:03:48 has been a true,

00:03:48 --> 00:03:50 true blessing and joy.

00:03:52 --> 00:03:56 Chime in with scenes from the rhythm of your day below.

00:03:59 --> 00:04:00 Thanks for listening.
