[00:00:00] When we look around to encourage others, we probably don't think much about motivating the Motivators. Too nend to find out why perhaps you should. Hello and welcome to MoMo634, The Daily Podcast Chalk Full of Faithful Inspiration & Motivation. MoMo634, Motivational Moments, Just for today.
[00:00:44] I'm not sure if it's origin or the source behind the numbers, but there's a saying that within an organization, 10% of the people do 90% of the work.
[00:00:55] Now, I know there are folks who do things on the down low, the right hand, not letting the left hand know so to speak. But I think the quote is really trying to address a major issue, burnout.
[00:01:09] And if I being completely honest, there's also an element of the strong person myth. I got a lot of that when I first started being transparent about the depression. If you remember in the episode Market Day,
[00:01:24] I shared that my best friend and I had gone to a play for a college class, and there was a line that said, I can't go mad on Market Day. In other words, I have too much to do and need to function. I can't indulge in a breakdown.
[00:01:39] That's the other side of the burnout conundrum. There are still so many things to do in life as a parent, spouse, employee, business owner, student, or whatever it is that occupies the bulk of your time.
[00:01:57] People perceive that ability to muscle through as strength, and I believe that there is an element in that that it is true.
[00:02:06] However, it is painted me into a corner and bitten me in the hindquarters at times too, because rarely do people feel the need to check in on these people. They appear to have it together, and I can only speak for myself, that it's truly a perception.
[00:02:23] For me, it's likely the OCD rule following that says there's something needed so do it. OCD is relentless in that way. Inside you are broken and crying out, but you don't want to burden others or divert resources from those who also might be in need.
[00:02:43] I'm here to tell you that is a very bad coping strategy. I know because it's the one I use, or don't use rather.
[00:02:55] I've tried a little harder to be more vulnerable and transparent, but sometimes people have you locked into a stereotype and it's hard to break through the box people have placed you in.
[00:03:06] And if you know people that seem to do a lot or hold stuff together, caregivers, preachers, teachers and others, let them know you see them. That you appreciate them. That's not why they do it, but doesn't everyone want to be seen and validated?
[00:03:25] Not in the doing things to be seen of men kind of way, but in the hey fellow human, life is hard sometimes and I appreciate what you do kind of way. Romans 1215 says, rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
[00:03:45] Our meme for today says, strong people need a helping hand sometimes too. How can you motivate a motivator today? Drop your ideas in the comments below. Thanks for listening to MOMO 634. Motivational moments just for today.
