[00:00:00] What a young boy's unwavering faith can teach us about our great God.

[00:00:07] Tune in.

[00:00:08] Hello and welcome to MoMo634, the daily podcast chock full of faithful inspiration and motivation.

[00:00:20] MoMo634, Motivational Moments, just for today.

[00:00:43] My background is in Early Childhood Education or ECE.

[00:00:49] I've taught Pre-K, managed a parenting program dedicated to helping parents find quality child

[00:00:55] care and, as regular listeners know, homeschooled all three of my kids.

[00:01:03] One of the maxims in ECE is children learn by repetition.

[00:01:09] There are a number of statements that repeat in the Bible.

[00:01:14] Have no other God.

[00:01:15] Be strong and courageous.

[00:01:18] Love one another are just a few.

[00:01:22] Additionally, Bible scholars tell us that when God repeats something, it's generally because

[00:01:28] it's something important.

[00:01:30] Think about how many times he had to talk to the Israelites about ensuring they obeyed

[00:01:35] his statutes, something we discussed last week in the episode The Cycle.

[00:01:41] There are two words God repeats throughout the Bible.

[00:01:45] Be still.

[00:01:47] Exodus 1414 says, The Lord will fight for you.

[00:01:52] You need only to be still.

[00:01:55] Psalm 4610 says, Be still and know that I am God.

[00:02:01] I will be exalted among the nations.

[00:02:04] I will be exalted over the earth.

[00:02:07] Psalm 377 says, Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.

[00:02:14] Do not fret when men prosper in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes.

[00:02:21] To know me is to know two things about me.

[00:02:25] I'm rarely silent or still.

[00:02:29] Does this mean I can't be still and thus can't make heaven my home by the grace of

[00:02:34] God?

[00:02:36] Peter is beloved by many because we can relate to his impulsivity in action and in speech.

[00:02:43] He's hardly the epitome of still.

[00:02:47] So it's probably helpful to understand what God is asking by this.

[00:02:52] I'm not a biblical scholar, however the words in the Hebrew mean be quiet, cease striving,

[00:03:01] be patient.

[00:03:03] I can tell you what these verses remind me of.

[00:03:06] In verse Peter 3, 3-4 says, Your beauty should not come from outward adornment such as braided

[00:03:15] hair or gold jewelry or fine clothes but from the inner disposition of your heart, the

[00:03:22] unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit which is precious in God's sight.

[00:03:28] Or when the apostle Paul says he's content in all circumstances.

[00:03:35] I think be still is the quality of complete faith that God is in control and submitting

[00:03:43] to him knowing he has only our best interests at heart.

[00:03:49] Even when it looks like things are tough.

[00:03:52] We discussed this recently in the episode Four Ways to Walk.

[00:03:57] God excels in everything but the impossible appears to be a specialty.

[00:04:05] My husband often tells the story of his father who was an executive for Chevron.

[00:04:11] He trained many of the station mechanics and was a master mechanic himself.

[00:04:17] Once on a family trip, the car experienced an issue.

[00:04:21] They pulled over to the side of the road and their father got out.

[00:04:25] Their mom turned to the boys in the back seat and told them not to worry.

[00:04:29] The little boy who would one day become my husband piped up.

[00:04:34] I'm not worried.

[00:04:36] Daddy's going to fix it.

[00:04:39] That utter confidence that kids seem to innately possess is one of the reasons I believe God

[00:04:45] says we must be like children.

[00:04:49] Our meme for today says we have the greatest parent, cheerleader and lover of our souls

[00:04:57] in the God of Heaven.

[00:04:59] Know this.

[00:05:03] Thanks for listening to Momo634, motivational moments just for today.
