[00:00:00] The Sands of Time March on, tune in for a positive perspective.

[00:00:30] Today's episode takes its title from two things.

[00:00:44] The first is a song by the British band, Squeeze.

[00:00:48] Part of the lyrics say that our glass has no more grains of sand, my watch has stopped,

[00:00:54] no more turning hands.

[00:00:56] The crew of abandoned the ship, the lights are on but no one is in.

[00:01:02] The other thing the title harkens back to is the inaugural episode of this podcast wherein

[00:01:08] I said each new day brings possibilities in the form of 24 hours, 1,440 minutes and 86,400

[00:01:18] seconds, a daily hour glass if you will.

[00:01:23] I guess you could say, staring down the barrel of a ginormous milestone birthday has me

[00:01:28] in a contemplative mood.

[00:01:31] In previous episodes I've mentioned the work of noted psychoanalyst Eric Erickson and

[00:01:36] his stages of psychosocial development.

[00:01:39] Though I'm not quite at the stage where you look back with fondness or regret, I do

[00:01:44] think a lot about legacy as I discussed in a bonus episode recently.

[00:01:50] Though I've been blessed to do some amazing things, me and interview some amazing people,

[00:01:57] a legacy all of its own.

[00:01:59] I feel like I'm just now growing up and coming into my own with this podcast.

[00:02:06] I'm past all those chaotic days with young children.

[00:02:10] I saw a quote once that said, in raising my children, I lost my mind but regained my soul

[00:02:19] and that spoke to me on a certain level.

[00:02:22] My kids have grown up to be amazing people with their own relationships with God.

[00:02:27] I've done fulfilling work in my career and of course, I'm blessed to still have

[00:02:34] my life partner of almost 35 years.

[00:02:38] We're blessed to both still be here and still in love.

[00:02:43] But this place, what we've created here is special.

[00:02:50] I'm able to process the events of my life through a spiritual lens.

[00:02:54] I can deconstruct mood and mental health issues and most of all, I can communicate the sacredness

[00:03:02] of a relationship with God.

[00:03:06] Second Corinthians 416 says, so we do not lose heart.

[00:03:11] Our outer self is wasting away.

[00:03:14] Our inner self is being renewed day by day.

[00:03:20] Our meme for today says, live each moment with a view toward eternity.
