[00:00:00] If you are missing loved ones on special days, you have holiday holes.
[00:00:06] Tune in for some thoughts to help us get through them.
[00:00:09] Hello and welcome to MoMo634, the daily podcast chock full of faithful inspiration and motivation.
[00:00:22] MoMo634 Motivational Moments just for today.
[00:00:28] In the episode Grief Aversaries, I talked about marking the dates we lost loved ones.
[00:00:52] I have two big ones coming up this month and I am still processing.
[00:00:59] But this episode is a little different.
[00:01:02] With Mother's Day coming up, I will be celebrated while missing my own mother.
[00:01:09] But the biggest holiday hole for me has always been Father's Day, having grown up completely without one.
[00:01:17] Back in the late 60s and early 70s when I was a kid, most families were intact.
[00:01:23] So the obligatory making of cards in school was torture for me.
[00:01:29] The hole was partially filled by marrying a man who has been an incredible father.
[00:01:35] He's involved, hands on and has been a constant in their lives.
[00:01:40] It speaks volumes to me but also from my youngest two who have had abandonment issues with their first families prior to adoption.
[00:01:50] I clearly remember going through the process of adoption.
[00:01:54] One Sunday morning it all clicked into place.
[00:01:59] In Bible class we were studying adoption as sons.
[00:02:03] Romans 823 says, not only that but we ourselves who have the first fruits of the spirit grown inwardly
[00:02:12] as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
[00:02:19] My youngest were chosen by us and we confer all benefits to them as our legal heirs.
[00:02:28] There is no difference between the status of my oldest child and my younger children, though how they came to be part of our family differs.
[00:02:38] Though I didn't have a relationship with an earthly father, in a way it's been a blessing.
[00:02:45] I have known so many who have let their horrible relationships with their biological fathers
[00:02:51] color their perceptions of what a true relationship with our Father God is like.
[00:02:57] Since I don't have that taint, I can see the good he showers upon me.
[00:03:03] I can feel the blessings he pours out on me.
[00:03:07] My only daughter is a true daddy's girl.
[00:03:11] She loves it and seeing my husband as a total softy in her hands is a delight.
[00:03:17] He's helping her to see her earthly worth in the sight of man, ensuring she doesn't settle for less.
[00:03:26] Though I don't have that human connection with a father, I do understand it because of the daily multitude of blessings God showers me with.
[00:03:36] So yes, holiday holes are hard, but these words in Romans 8, 38 and 39 help.
[00:03:46] For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities,
[00:03:53] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth,
[00:03:59] nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
[00:04:10] Our meme for today says, we are loved, seen and chosen by the God of the whole universe.
