[00:00:00] Catchy Song lyrics and an epic battle cry are at the center of today's episode. Stay tuned!
[00:00:30] Just set the stage for today's episode. Our title is, as is often the case with me, a mashup.
[00:00:53] Hakuna Matata is, of course, most known from the Lion King but it is Swahili for what is most closely translated as No Wurries.
[00:01:05] Ahaka is a meori dance, historically for going into battle, now popularized by sports teams for their battles on the field.
[00:01:16] Satan came knocking, no storming down my door yesterday and I wasn't having it. He threw me for a loop for sure, drumming up my recent work drama and ripping the bandaid off of my healing wound like Nair on a Yeti and though it hurt,
[00:01:36] and I spent a lot of the day alternating between tears and a low mood. At a certain point it became enough.
[00:01:46] And that old girl? The one crucified with Christ that lives no more because Christ lives in her now? Shockingly, she stayed dead.
[00:01:59] I expected a lot more trouble from her because that old girl? Man, she cursed like a sailor with insults cutting like knives and was as vengeful as the day is long.
[00:02:14] I felt myself straining to muzzle her. So instead of getting even, she got her battled gear on.
[00:02:25] You see, this is a daily thing. We get comfortable after a while in the Lord seduced by Satan's whispers that we've got this sin thing down.
[00:02:38] As discussed in our second episode, Satan is an audacious liar. Jesus knows this well. Hence the command to take up our cross daily in Luke 923.
[00:02:55] Every single day, we are recommitted to him and to the battle.
[00:03:01] Second Peter 1-5-8 says, for this very reason make every effort to add to your faith virtue and to virtue knowledge and to knowledge self-control and to self-control perseverance and to perseverance godliness
[00:03:22] and to godliness, brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness love. For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[00:03:43] That we are adding to and need to grow in them means we never fully get there this side of heaven. It's a daily maturation process. Yet, we have weapons of warfare at our disposal.
[00:04:02] For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers against the authorities against the powers of this world's darkness and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
[00:04:18] Therefore, take up the full armor of god so that when the day of evil comes you will be able to stand your ground and having done everything to stand firm then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness arrayed and with your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace.
[00:04:44] In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of god.
[00:05:03] Ephesians 6, 12 through 17.
[00:05:07] I have some battle rituals also. Most of them are from my rainy day toolkit discussed here many times.
[00:05:16] When it came time for midweek Bible study as discussed in the episode last week, midweek motivation, Satan wanted me to curl right up, keening.
[00:05:28] I got my essential oils out to elevate my mood. I took my supplements that I had put off while not wanting to move at all during the day.
[00:05:39] I prayed a lot. The only tool I didn't use until we were at services was my praise playlist.
[00:05:50] My youngest son offered the invitation talk and it fit right in with this mindset. He used Matthew 11, 28 through 30 as his scripture text.
[00:06:03] Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.
[00:06:10] Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.
[00:06:20] For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Jesus will not leave us alone to fight Satan by ourselves.
[00:06:31] Our meme for today says our commander has already ensured the ultimate victory for his troops.
[00:06:39] We need only obey and fight the battle.
