[00:00:00] One adorable feel-good story about a second grader can teach us a lot about the importance
[00:00:07] of self-confidence. Stay tuned!
[00:00:30] I came across a story online that just put a smile on my face. A couple of years ago, then
[00:00:52] second grader Dylan Helberg wrote an 81-page, illustrated book. He took it to the library
[00:00:59] with him on one of his trips with his grandmother. While there, he managed to get it onto a shelf
[00:01:07] because he really wanted to share the story with others. At some point, he told his mom what
[00:01:13] he had done and she called the library in hopes it had not been tossed out. To her surprise
[00:01:20] and delight, the staff had discovered it, loved it, and decided to bypass the traditional review
[00:01:27] route and added it to the catalog. It created a frenzy of interest, resulting in an enormous
[00:01:34] waiting list. The library branch manager's six-year-old son was enthusiastic about it and now Dylan,
[00:01:42] his self as he styled his byline, is collaborating with a children's author to teach other kids
[00:01:48] how to tap into their creativity and write their own stories, all while planning his subsequent books.
[00:01:56] Jesus said in Matthew 183, truly I tell you he said, unless you change and become like little children,
[00:02:05] you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Further, children recognized his deity during the
[00:02:12] triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The expression from the mouths of babes is prophesied in the Old
[00:02:19] Testament and reiterated in Matthew 2116. Dylan believed in himself, he believed in his creativity,
[00:02:28] he set out to create a brand in how he styled his book. Often as we grow up and the perception
[00:02:36] of the world taints our view, we begin to care more about what others think to the point of being
[00:02:42] unwilling to try to reach our own dreams. I'll be honest and say I was beginning to doubt myself a bit.
[00:02:50] I felt like I was posting about this podcast constantly on social media, not because of any ego
[00:02:57] on my part, because I began it to address some of the things that I was going through for myself.
[00:03:04] But you began to tell me about how it was helping you, so I doubled down and took a leap of faith
[00:03:12] and began growing it in earnest. You're telling your friends and getting the word out
[00:03:19] and it's working, it means so much to me. Again, not because it's me, I don't have my name associated
[00:03:27] with this very much, except for those who know me in real life. Because I wanted to point to God
[00:03:34] and not my own aggrandisement. I'm learning from Dylan's master class and I hope that you are too.
[00:03:41] Our meme for today sums it up. Dreams are big intentionally, it gives us something fulfilling
[00:03:48] to work toward throughout life. Tell us about some of your dreams in the comments below
[00:03:55] and what you're doing to achieve them.
