[00:00:00] A spiritual game of Eye Spy. Tune in!

[00:00:07] Hello and welcome to MoMo634, the daily podcast chock full of faith-filled inspiration and motivation.

[00:00:16] Please like, share, and subscribe. MoMo634, Motivational Moments just for today.

[00:00:38] I'm as blind as a bat.

[00:00:41] My trifocals are coke bottle thick, and that's with the thin lenses that they upsell.

[00:00:48] I was born with an undeveloped muscle in my left eye, so I can only see shapes and colors.

[00:00:55] And even for that, it needs to be right in front of me, super close up.

[00:01:02] As a kid, I wore a patch after school to strengthen my eye. It didn't work.

[00:01:08] I was the only little kid I knew with Eartha Kitt Catwoman glasses.

[00:01:15] Even surgery at four years old didn't correct the issue.

[00:01:20] So when I say blind as a bat, actually the bat probably has better vision and the gift of echolocation.

[00:01:30] I say all this because there's a spiritual lesson to this.

[00:01:35] Given my propensity to catastrophize and my struggles with low frustration tolerance,

[00:01:41] both of which I've discussed so much on this podcast that those episodes are tagged accordingly,

[00:01:48] I had a bit of an epiphany recently.

[00:01:52] It shouldn't come as a surprise that my knee-jerk reaction is toward the negative initially.

[00:01:59] But if God works everything out for our good, and Romans 8, 28 tells us that he does,

[00:02:07] there must be a spiritual benefit or lesson to be learned.

[00:02:11] Here's an example.

[00:02:13] Years ago, my husband and daughter pulled up to a stoplight.

[00:02:17] When it turned green, our truck stopped.

[00:02:22] I mean, it just conked out.

[00:02:25] Now, we could groan and hope it's not an alternator or some other expensive repair,

[00:02:31] or we could bemoan the delay in getting where we needed to go.

[00:02:35] But at that moment, when the light turned green and the truck stopped,

[00:02:41] a car went speeding through their red light.

[00:02:46] Had the truck not just plain ceased, they most assuredly would have been hit.

[00:02:53] It's sort of like a situational version of what I described in the episode, The Nice Game.

[00:03:00] See the things that slow you down, frustrate you, or things that are negative through a spiritual lens.

[00:03:09] A spiritual I spy, if you will.

[00:03:13] As with the episode, Flip the Script, how can we frame the setback as something positive or good?

[00:03:22] Ephesians 6, 12 tells us,

[00:03:25] For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,

[00:03:32] against the powers of this world's darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

[00:03:40] There is a spiritual battle going on all around us, one we're often oblivious to.

[00:03:48] When things we consider bad or negative happen, think of it in the context of your soul.

[00:03:56] An opportunity to exercise patience or self-control.

[00:04:02] 2 Peter 1, 3-9 says,

[00:05:05] Whoever lacks these traits is nearsighted to the point of blindness,

[00:05:12] having forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

[00:05:17] So yes, put your spiritual specs on.

[00:05:21] Our meme for today simply says,

[00:05:25] I, E-Y-E, spy, why?

[00:05:29] As a reminder to always seek the spiritual in whatever you might be facing.

[00:05:36] Do you have a story of a situation that seemed bad but worked out for good?

[00:05:43] Share it in the comments.
