[00:00:00] Cue the iconic theme music. On the heels of our last episode, who would ever have thunk it would happen? Not once, but twice. Tune in for more.
[00:00:15] Hello and welcome to MoMo634, the daily podcast chock full of faith-filled inspiration and motivation. Please like, share, and subscribe. MoMo634, Motivational Moments just for today.
[00:00:46] In our last episode, I talked about the past and the effort to make peace with those who caused me harm. Out of the blue this week, not quite 24 hours apart from each other, I got two phone calls from two different people, both representing workplaces that, in the aftermath of difficult treatment, I've deconstructed here, in part, through the episodes on kindness,
[00:01:15] hardships, hardships, and boundaries. The calls were surreal, yet vindicating, and most of all, freeing.
[00:01:27] When God says to pray for people that hurt you, or to treat others the way that you want to be treated, that is so counterintuitive to our culture that wants to give as we get.
[00:01:41] Some might hear this and think I'm a pushover. Others might hear it and think I wear a cape and boots.
[00:01:48] But both would be wrong, because it has absolutely nothing to do with me, other than my obedience to God's word.
[00:01:57] When you submit yourself to God's will and really obey his word, he does something amazing.
[00:02:08] Yes, the people-pleasing OCD part of my brain doesn't like being at odds with others.
[00:02:14] Yet, as the daughter of the king, I know that in extending kindness and forgiveness to others,
[00:02:22] I am replicating, on a small scale, what God has done for me.
[00:02:27] The feeling is a natural high.
[00:02:32] And for those who don't reach out, praying for them at the foot of God's throne helps take the animus away,
[00:02:40] because it's hard to stay angry at someone you are petitioning God about.
[00:02:45] All the verses in the Bible about being kind to enemies, feeding them, giving them something to drink,
[00:02:53] or giving them your coat, or whatever.
[00:02:56] That's hard.
[00:02:58] Waiting on God's vengeance when he says he will repay?
[00:03:02] That's tough.
[00:03:04] When he tells you that he will fight for you, and that you need only to be still,
[00:03:10] it's difficult to wrap your mind around.
[00:03:13] But as I said in the recent episode Sin,
[00:03:18] we're all that guy.
[00:03:21] The one God extends the grace and mercy to after we goof it up yet again.
[00:03:28] We cannot be in a position to proclaim God's good news to others if we burn those bridges.
[00:03:37] Are there some bridges that need to be burnt?
[00:03:40] Perhaps.
[00:03:41] God has a way of dealing with those cases.
[00:03:45] But maybe you are the bridge that someone needs to reach God.
[00:03:51] In my particular case, there were difficult personalities that others had difficulty with,
[00:03:58] not just me.
[00:03:59] So making yourself available to be that bridge maybe is just what's needed.
[00:04:06] Our meme for today says,
[00:04:09] Don't burn bridges.
[00:04:11] Build them.
[00:04:13] Do you have a story of a Twilight Zone moment that worked out for good?
