Endurance

[00:00:30] There are seasons when it seems like so many things are going wrong.

[00:00:49] Not only for ourselves, but for a number of people we know.

[00:00:54] Like Satan in Overdrive.

[00:00:57] I saw something online yesterday that was sort of a take on the not today Satan meme.

[00:01:03] It said, before you go any further, today is not the day and I am not the one.

[00:01:11] It made me recall Luke 2231 through 32.

[00:01:17] Simon.

[00:01:18] Simon.

[00:01:19] Satan has asked to sift each one of you like wheat.

[00:01:24] And I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail.

[00:01:29] And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.

[00:01:35] Clearly Satan wants to trip us up.

[00:01:39] First Peter 5-7 tells us he is prowling like a lion seeking prey.

[00:01:45] The key is to endure.

[00:01:49] There is a list that is by no means exhaustive of all the faithful followers of God in Hebrews

[00:01:56] 11.

[00:01:58] Chapter 12 starts this way.

[00:02:02] Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw

[00:02:09] off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with endurance

[00:02:18] the race set out for us.

[00:02:21] Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith.

[00:02:28] Who for the joy set before him endured the cross?

[00:02:33] Squaring at shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

[00:02:43] James 1-2-4 says,

[00:02:46] Consider it pure joy my brothers when you encounter trials of many kinds because you

[00:02:53] know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

[00:02:59] Allow perseverance to finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking

[00:03:06] anything.

[00:03:08] James 4-7 tells us to resist Satan.

[00:03:13] Submit yourselves then to God.

[00:03:16] Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

[00:03:21] Believing in and following after God won't exempt mankind from the hardships baked into

[00:03:28] this earthly life.

[00:03:30] In fact our rebellion and heating Satan in the garden led to many of the trials we must

[00:03:37] now endure in the form of illnesses, disease and death.

[00:03:45] But it is only for a season.

[00:03:49] For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that is far

[00:03:57] beyond comparison.

[00:04:00] Second Corinthians 4-17

[00:04:04] If we endure, we will rest in eternity, rewarded with the presence of God Himself in a place

[00:04:13] where there are no trials, temptations or tears.

[00:04:20] Our meme for today says,
