[00:00:30] With the rise of TikTok, Reels, Shorts and other viral video and with our attention spans getting shorter and shorter
[00:00:53] and with the advent of AI, curated content online is beginning to blur and look the same.
[00:01:01] We've seen this for several years now with movies. If a movie set in a specific time period is a success, well, let's just make a slew of them!
[00:01:11] If a song made one artist a ton of money, let's make all songs sound like that for the foreseeable future.
[00:01:18] If a certain type of book smashed all records and dominated the charts then we must make more just like it!
[00:01:27] Whereas we once hailed innovation and rewarded it. Now we strive to create cookie cutter content and award participation trophies.
[00:01:37] I once had a poster in my office. It was of a school fish with the Ickthus, sort of the Christian fish symbol, going in the opposite direction.
[00:01:49] The poster was encouraging people to be okay with going against the flow in their faithwalk.
[00:01:56] I'll freely admit that what I do here hasn't quite taken the world by storm.
[00:02:02] I scroll the same social media sites you likely do and I see insane engagement and following for some really bizarre things!
[00:02:12] I wonder how some posts and creators are as popular as they are when others are simply trying to point people to God and can't seem to break through however noble the goal.
[00:02:26] Then I realize how precient the scriptures truly are!
[00:02:32] Matthew 7, 13 through 14 says,
[00:02:36] Enter through the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and many enter through it.
[00:02:45] But small is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life and only a few find it.
[00:02:53] Another great way of explaining this is found in the totality of Psalm 73.
[00:03:00] While lamenting the success and riches of the world and the enemies of God, the psalmist realizes what their end will be.
[00:03:09] How blessed he has been to sit in the sanctuary of God and the blessings that await him in the time to come!
[00:03:18] The lesson in all of this is keep going, keep doing, keep being who you are and keep pointing others to Jesus.
[00:03:30] We don't have to convert them!
[00:03:33] First Corinthians 3 6 says, God gives the increase.
[00:03:37] We just need to keep pointing the way.
[00:03:41] If you are meant to be lifted up in this life, he is faithful to do it.
[00:03:47] First Peter 5 6 says, humble yourselves therefore under God's mighty hand so that in due time he may exalt you.
[00:03:57] Our meme for today says, just as an analog clock points both hands up to 12 so must we continue to point to God in all we say and do.
