[00:00:46] As you read the title, a familiar refrain from the old Beatles tune may have been running through your head, but the words have a much deeper meaning when viewed through the lens of today's episode.
[00:00:58] Each time I log on to my social media accounts, I see posts and updates across the Brotherhood of Saints traveling hundreds, some a thousand or more miles, to reach those affected by Hurricane Helene.
[00:01:14] I've heard of congregations taking up special collections, congregations dedicating their entire collection on a specific date, and individual donations flooding into the leadership of various congregations for distribution.
[00:01:31] This is what 1 Corinthians 16 and Acts 4 are talking about.
[00:01:37] God, in His wisdom, created the Church for us to meet each other's needs and support one another, bearing one another's burdens, weeping with those who weep, as well as sharing joys, because this world is full of trials.
[00:01:54] I've often said that as much as I hated the acts of September 11, the world on September 12 was a place filled with love, care, and concern for our fellow man.
[00:02:12] The same is true in the aftermath of Helene and other catastrophes.
[00:02:18] Though it does my heart good to see us step up, it would be amazing if this behavior was the norm, and the usual indifference and apathy were the exception.
[00:02:30] But I guess, if that were so, this world would be more of a utopia, and we may cease to strive for the true perfection God's children will enjoy in heaven.
