A Job Well Done

[00:01:07] There were many rounds of variations on good job or well done with our team today. And after the last two work situations, the words felt good. As I've shared a number of times, I'm a people pleaser. So there was something soothing about the number of wins

[00:01:28] and making people happy with my work. However, as Jesus points out in Luke 1819, why do you call me good? Jesus replied, no one is good except God alone. Now, we get teased a bit here in Texas because all of us enjoy our meat well done in my family.

[00:01:51] Texans generally want to hold a conversation with it before it's time for grilling. Talk about playing with your food. No thank you. Yet, all joking aside, one day, one great day, there will be a well done that won't get anyone mocked.

[00:02:14] The Bible says in Matthew 2523, his master replied, well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things, enter into the joy of your master. Matthew 2531-36.

[00:02:36] When the son of man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

[00:02:52] He will place the sheep on his right, and the goats on his left. Then the king will say to those on his right, come, you who are blessed by my father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

[00:03:10] For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you took me in. I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me.

[00:03:23] I was imprisoned and you visited me. Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and take you in or naked and close the world?

[00:03:38] Or naked and close you? When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the king will reply, truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine you did for me.

[00:03:53] Then he will say to those on his left, depart for me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink.

[00:04:08] I was a stranger and you did not take me in. I was naked and you did not clothed me. I was sick and imprisoned and you did not visit me. And they too will reply, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger?

[00:04:23] Or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister to you? Then the king will answer, truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these you did not do for me.
