[00:00:00] Do you work to eat or eat to work? Let's talk about balance and that fine line. Tune in! Hello and welcome to MoMo634, the Daily Podcast Chalk Full of Faithful, Inspiration and Motivation. MoMo634, Motivational Moments, just for today.

[00:00:43] Welcome to a new episode. If you enjoy this podcast, please like, follow, subscribe, review and or share with friends. Thank you! Workaholic or people pleaser. I've mentioned that I am a people pleaser and a rule follower. I'm pretty sure both are baked into OCDs DNA.

[00:01:09] So I get there's a ramp up with a new job, especially when a whole new team comes in on the heels of another team's Exodus. Today is day two of the new contract and like its predecessor, day one, it was a 12 hour plus day.

[00:01:31] This old lady has kept up so far, but great gravy. I just want some grand meow time with our new kitten and read without my phone pinging every few minutes. But then there are the million and 12 things I need to do for me or with the family.

[00:01:49] And I am extraordinarily blessed to be working. I'm generally good about boundaries, but in the field of work I'm in, 12 hour days are slow days and staff are always on.

[00:02:07] It's just the nature of the beast and to be honest, I tend to thrive in that environment so I'm definitely not complaining. Yet because I cannot abide having things on my plate undone, I push myself.

[00:02:25] It's something I need to work on because those boundaries I'm so good at are for others. Not so, for myself. They are self-imposed. This is where I apply all the stuff I've covered in the calendaring GTD episodes right here.

[00:02:48] And I've been pretty pleased for the most part with how much I've been able to accomplish thus far. I sort of treat this podcast like the old Nickelodeon Show, Ned's declassified school survival guide,

[00:03:03] where the middle school protagonist offered tips for what he and his friends were going through as a way to process them. So in typical fashion, I'm going to work on a little bit of exposure and response prevention or ERP. Considered the gold standard for OCD.

[00:03:21] I'm going to lengthen the time between a good stopping point and that just a little bit more. I know it will be uncomfortable at first, but it's not life or death at stake. Solomon told us all this striving after the wind was vanity in Ecclesiastes. And Psalm 127 2 says,

[00:03:44] In vain you rise early and stay up late, twiling for bread to eat, for he gives sleep to his beloved. Our meme for today is, yes, we work to make a living, but let's make sure we are still living so that we can work toward life eternal.

[00:04:05] How do you deal with the tendency to overwork? chime in below. Thanks for listening to Momo 634, motivational moments just for today. If you enjoyed it, please subscribe, give it a like or review, tell a friend, and follow along on social media or your favorite podcast platform.
