[00:00:35] and welcome to MoMo 634, Motivational Moments, just for today.
[00:00:43] Whether you're short on cash or reject the capitalistic and commercialized nature of the holiday season,
[00:00:50] here are 3 last-minute gifts that cost nothing and are good for any gift-giving occasion.
[00:00:58] The Gift of Your Time and Attention
[00:01:00] Yeah, some may quibble that time is money. However, time well spent with someone creates lasting memories
[00:01:09] and shows them that they mean something to you, both of which are priceless gifts.
[00:01:15] 4. A Personalized Coupon Book
[00:01:18] Along the lines of time and attention is the concept of a coupon book that you make for someone to be redeemed in the coming year.
[00:01:26] Whether monthly or weekly, the coupons can be redeemed for items like a hug, a judgment-free listen to a rant,
[00:01:35] or a shoulder to cry on, a ride to the grocery store or doctor's office, babysitting, house-sitting, pet-sitting services, lawn care.
[00:01:45] The list is as endless as there are possibilities.
[00:01:50] 5. Bartering
[00:01:51] Offering to do something or teaching something in return for something you would like done or taught.
[00:01:57] 6. Teach someone to knit and ask if they will teach you Spanish or ASL.
[00:02:03] 7. Repair someone's fence for cooking lessons.
[00:02:06] 8. Offer house cleaning, car repair, or whatever skills you have in exchange for something you want, need, or an item on your bucket list.
[00:02:16] Again, the possibilities are endless.
[00:02:21] The holidays don't have to be about stuff.
[00:02:25] In fact, they are to remind us of and commemorate what is important to us.
[00:02:32] Though it would appear that Jesus was born in the spring or summer,
[00:02:37] this time of year calls to mind that a Savior did enter the world.
[00:02:42] 2 Corinthians 9.15 says,
[00:02:46] Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.
[00:02:50] And though God's gift was costly,
[00:02:54] we can emulate His giving nature by investing ourselves in others.
[00:03:00] Galatians 6.10 reminds us,
[00:03:03] Therefore, as we have opportunity,
[00:03:06] let us do good to everyone,
[00:03:09] especially to the family of faith.
[00:03:13] Our meme for today says,
[00:03:16] Be present rather than seeking one.
[00:03:19] Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
