[00:01:17] So this week we're doing things a little different.

[00:01:26] Every day this week for the next four days, I'm going to be sharing with you a devotional that I created called Weeding Out Negativity, a three-day thought detox.

[00:01:36] And one of the reasons that I created this devotional is because I wanted to share some of the content from my upcoming book, How to Live an Extraordinary Life with or Without Mr. Right, a Christian Woman's Guide on how to survive and thrive on single avenue.

[00:01:54] So that's my upcoming book, and that's going to be released in January 2025, which is just around the corner, right?

[00:02:04] So before the book is released, I created a devotional from some components of the book.

[00:02:12] So some of the content from the book is in this devotional.

[00:02:15] And one of the main reasons I created this devotional is because I really, really, really wanted to encourage single women, especially my Christian single women out there, to just really not buy into the stereotypes that are out there.

[00:02:34] Okay, so the premise of this entire devotional is that contrary to what many single women believe, your life does not start, nor have you arrived, just because you change your marital status.

[00:02:50] God has already given us everything we need to live an extraordinary life.

[00:02:56] And unfortunately, many of us aren't enjoying our single lives.

[00:03:01] We subconsciously accept society's negative, misguided views on single women.

[00:03:08] So the entire reason why I created this devotional is to discover the importance of maintaining a positive mindset by cultivating God's word in our hearts.

[00:03:19] So every day for the next four days, I'm going to share with you the content from the devotional that I created, which again is from my upcoming book, How to Live an Extraordinary Life with or Without Mr. Right, a Christian woman's guide on how to survive and thrive on single avenue.

[00:03:40] All right, enough rambling for me.

[00:03:42] Let's jump into day one of the devotional.

[00:03:45] How well do you maintain your garden?

[00:03:49] Have you ever felt overwhelmed by negative thoughts?

[00:03:52] During my 20s, having this mindset is why I resented my residency on Single Avenue.

[00:03:57] I failed to view my time on Single Avenue as an opportunity to discover God's purpose for me.

[00:04:04] I was so slow to realize that my ability to discover God's plans depended on my attitude toward how I chose to maintain my garden,

[00:04:14] which is why my garden was a hot mess.

[00:04:17] My lack of due diligence in protecting my mind from the enemy's negative thoughts allowed my garden to be overrun with weeds, better known as negative thoughts.

[00:04:30] It was impossible for beautiful flowers, God's word, to grow because they never got the opportunity to become deeply rooted in good soil.

[00:04:41] On the rare occasions you saw flowers in my garden, they barely survived because I failed to prune them.

[00:04:50] In hindsight, my flowers failed to thrive because I was too busy creating opportunities without involving God in my decision-making process.

[00:05:01] I remember all the times God tried to get my attention so we could have a relationship.

[00:05:09] He wanted to show me the plans he had in store for me.

[00:05:13] My stubbornness prevented me from acknowledging God's presence.

[00:05:17] At that point in my life, I could not stress enough that I prevented myself from blooming on Single Avenue.

[00:05:26] I let weeds run wild throughout my garden.

[00:05:30] It wasn't until I truly focused on God and actively worked towards changing my mindset that I saw his plans manifest in my life.

[00:05:39] I want you to view your thought life as a garden.

[00:05:44] If you want that garden filled with beautiful flowers, you must allow the seeds of God's word to get deeply rooted.

[00:05:53] You need to maintain your garden daily by reading and applying his word.

[00:05:58] Otherwise, you risk having your garden overrun with weeds, also known as negative thoughts.

[00:06:06] If you want to have a beautiful garden instead of a hot mess, I want you to be more intentional about removing the weeds that show up in your garden.

[00:06:16] If you fail to remove the weeds, you will not be able to gain Christ's attributes because your soul is consumed with negativity.

[00:06:26] God created us all with a specific purpose.

[00:06:29] You must actively work to dismantle the thoughts that don't reinforce your value to God.

[00:06:36] I know this is easier said than done, but the good news is that it can be done.

[00:06:43] So here are some reflection questions that I want you to ask yourself.

[00:06:49] What weeds are in your garden?

[00:06:53] How can you actively remove the weeds in your garden?

[00:06:58] What are the consequences of allowing weeds to overrun your garden?

[00:07:04] I truly hope you found day one of the three-day thought detox to be beneficial.
