Hi, I'm Steve McDonald. Do you ever think to yourself: “I wonder why I am here. Life is ok, but it just seems like something is missing” I understand. You are doing ok for yourself - the career, education, and social circles are right where you want them, but you feel like there is something more. Perhaps there is a stirring in you that you just can’t put your finger on. Let's explore this feeling together, because it is more common than you think. We often go through our routines, checking off boxes that society says will bring happiness. We get the degree, land the job, and build our relationships, yet in the quiet moments, that persistent question returns: "Is this all there is?" It is a quiet ache, a feeling that we are just playing a role rather than living our true purpose. Have you ever found yourself in this situation? You might feel guilty, thinking, "I have so much to be grateful for, so why do I feel this way?" Please know you are not alone, and your feelings are completely valid. It is not ungratefulness; it is a sign of a deeper spiritual hunger. Let's consider a common situation. Imagine you are sitting at your desk on a typical Tuesday afternoon. On paper, everything is fine. Your work is on track and your colleagues are pleasant. Yet, as you look at your screen, a sudden wave of emptiness washes over you. You ask yourself, "Is this it? Am I destined to just repeat this cycle forever?" Or maybe it is late at night, after the house is quiet, and you are staring at the ceiling, feeling an inexplicable disconnect from the life you worked so hard to build. In our day-to-day lives, these moments can feel incredibly isolating. We start to wonder if we are missing the mark. But here is where we find our pivot. The truth is that God has a special assignment for you. God has a plan and purpose -just- for you. The world is full of opportunities for us to pursue our goals and dreams, but the truth is that God has planted special gifts in you that you may not be aware of. Gifts that will help you accomplish the plan and purpose He has in store. The best part is, there is a plan and purpose for you that has the potential to bring you joy and fulfillment like you have never experienced before. This changes everything about how we look at our daily lives. These feelings of emptiness are actually a divine invitation. How might God be working through these circumstances? He is gently calling you to look beyond the surface of your life and into the unique purpose He has crafted for you. Let’s consider three simple principles for discovering this place: First: Pay Attention to the Stirring Acknowledge that the quiet ache you feel is a whisper from God, urging you to seek Him. I invite you to bring this feeling directly to God in prayer. Second: Discover Your Hidden Gifts God has equipped you with unique strengths that are designed for His service. Ask God to reveal these gifts and show you how they can help others. Third: Take a Small Step of Faith Finding your place is about being faithful in the small things. Look for a simple opportunity to share God's love with someone in your community today. What step can you take today? My practical invitation is simple: take five minutes of quiet today. Turn off your phone and ask God: "Father, what is the next step You want me to take to find my place?" Trust that He is leading you. Curious to learn more?
