[00:00:33] Speaking of Luminode, today's tech tip is the Luminode helping us understand

[00:00:38] this cool devices Anthony Stofflett from AC Lighting.

[00:00:42] Hey Anthony.

[00:00:43] Hey David, how you doing today?

[00:00:44] I'm doing all right.

[00:00:45] I'm going to see if I can make it through this podcast and say Luminode.

[00:00:49] You definitely don't want to say that 15 times fast.

[00:00:52] Luminode, Luminode, Luminode.

[00:00:54] Tell us what the Luminode is.

[00:00:55] What is that?

[00:00:56] Yeah, so the Luminode is a part of the Lumix brand and what it is, it's our

[00:01:00] Ethernet to DMX converter brand, if you will.

[00:01:02] So it's a whole line of products from one port all the way up to 12 ports.

[00:01:07] And one of the really cool things about the Luminode is the way that

[00:01:11] it kind of processes stuff.

[00:01:12] That's what makes it really different.

[00:01:14] So instead of everything being port based processing, which we're kind of

[00:01:18] used to, you know, normally like port one does port one kind of a thing.

[00:01:21] Luminodes have taken that processing and we've created what's called a process engine.

[00:01:25] So you always have more processing power than what you actually can actually

[00:01:30] output out of the node, which is actually kind of cool.

[00:01:32] Well, what makes it so popular, man?

[00:01:34] So what makes it popular is actually those process engines more than anything.

[00:01:38] So it's that realm of this process engine is kind of like this little

[00:01:42] Leatherman that you've got inside of a node of if you need to merge

[00:01:46] information, if you need to convert it from one source to another,

[00:01:50] if you need to go for a port of an input or an output, it's kind of

[00:01:53] just like the world is your oyster.

[00:01:55] So it's just this nice little thing to kind of have in your pocket.

[00:01:59] And that's why everybody loves them.

[00:02:00] It's because of the process.

[00:02:02] So it sounds to me like as I'm the dumb audio guy right here, it

[00:02:06] sounds like it's basically converts your lighting system.

[00:02:13] So like you have a lighting console, so it's like a real easy way to get

[00:02:16] the DMX to what you need to get it to.

[00:02:17] Am I explaining that right?

[00:02:18] I'm just, yeah, yeah.

[00:02:20] No, you're doing good as an audio person.

[00:02:21] It's kind of just like, and then even if you get into scenarios,

[00:02:24] like, you know, sometimes you've got two audio consoles, right?

[00:02:26] You know, you've got a monitors in front of house and they love

[00:02:29] like, you know, game sharing between things.

[00:02:31] Even inside of Luminodes, we can do a little bit of that over

[00:02:34] who has priority over the other on an individual channel basis.

[00:02:39] You know, so we can say that its latest takes precedence or its

[00:02:42] highest takes precedence over the other.

[00:02:44] And so especially inside of lighting world, when we have to look at

[00:02:46] integrated systems like we see a lot for churches, it definitely does

[00:02:51] help with a lot of that stuff.

[00:02:53] I'm a church.

[00:02:54] I don't really deal with networking or Luminodes and all this stuff.

[00:02:58] Like give me an example of how this would help me.

[00:03:01] Why would I, why do I need to go out and buy this product?

[00:03:03] So the Luminodes kind of take what the industry would normally

[00:03:07] take is like three or four different products and kind of combine

[00:03:10] them all into one product.

[00:03:11] So really what it does is just makes it to where there's one place

[00:03:14] to go to manage everything that is your lighting data on your network.

[00:03:18] So rather than having to go to this unit and go to this unit and

[00:03:22] having this unit triggered by this kind of a thing, it's, you

[00:03:25] know, it kind of just helps bring everything a little bit more

[00:03:27] into unity and make it just a lot easier to understand and manage.

[00:03:31] So instead of having two or three things to kind of pay attention

[00:03:34] to just have one device, plug it in, convert it, make it work.

[00:03:39] That's what it does.

[00:03:40] Plain and simple.

[00:03:41] Almost sounds too simple.

[00:03:44] I get that a lot with the Luminex brain as a whole, not even on

[00:03:47] the Luminode side, but also with the Giga core side for switches.

[00:03:50] But I mean, Luminix really is from, from my belief, of course

[00:03:54] on the brand manager, but from my belief really is the, you

[00:03:57] know, the networking made simple, the nodes made simple.

[00:04:00] This is kind of where it comes from.

[00:04:02] Tell me a little bit more about Luminix.

[00:04:04] What makes you a brand that you're not used to?

[00:04:07] What makes you a brand leader?

[00:04:09] You mentioned some other things that you guys sell.

[00:04:12] Tell us a little bit more about the Luminix brand and how you represent Luminix.

[00:04:17] Yeah, so I'm a part of AC Americas.

[00:04:19] So which is the parent company of both AC lighting and AC Pro Media.

[00:04:23] So AC lighting, of course, is very lighting driven for everything.

[00:04:27] And then we also have AC Pro Media, which is very audio and video based,

[00:04:30] you know, kind of a more of that.

[00:04:32] Arch attainment kind of side of the industry.

[00:04:35] So I was brought in for the AC Americas to kind of help with a little bit of everything.

[00:04:40] So I'm a, I'm the brand manager.

[00:04:42] Pretty much what I like to say is I get paid to be a nerd.

[00:04:46] I get to be the one that gets called and just like, Hey, I'm trying to do

[00:04:49] this really crazy thing, can you help?

[00:04:51] And then everybody knows they can kind of get a hold me for that.

[00:04:54] So it's just really fun.

[00:04:55] But Luminix as a brand is honestly a fantastic brand using them even

[00:05:00] before I had this job, which was, which is honestly pretty kind of funny.

[00:05:04] It's a funny story how all that came around as well.

[00:05:07] But Luminix has a full line of network switches to kind of go along with

[00:05:11] anything, whether you need some like, you know, rugged switches that need to

[00:05:14] go up inside of your trusses or on your pipes, or you need something to go

[00:05:17] inside of an installed rack, you know, for your CMRs, your interconnect

[00:05:21] rooms or something like that.

[00:05:23] We kind of have both of those.

[00:05:24] Then we get into the Luminode line.

[00:05:27] And so we kind of have a node for every scenario, whether that's, you know, rack

[00:05:30] mount nodes or even din mount nodes.

[00:05:33] And then we also have a full line of OptiSplitters as well.

[00:05:36] So if you just need to duplicate DMX data, it makes it really easy to do.

[00:05:41] And a lot of this is kind of what makes Luminix the industry leader at

[00:05:44] this point is there's not really a lot of people that are doing what

[00:05:48] Luminix does across the broad spectrum of the AVL market at this point in time.

[00:05:53] We do see, you know, we have a lot of brands, you know, that are very,

[00:05:56] hey, I'm a lighting brand or hey, I'm an audio brand.

[00:05:59] But to have somebody that kind of is full spectrum when it comes across

[00:06:02] to it is definitely the difference.

[00:06:04] I'm assuming based on everything you just told me that they're the

[00:06:08] switches are very AV friendly.

[00:06:10] Oh yeah.

[00:06:10] Yeah.

[00:06:11] So the whole switches and the way Luminix as a brand even started was

[00:06:15] people having issues with network switches and having problems with

[00:06:19] Ethernet converters.

[00:06:20] And they got together in Belgium and said, let's make the thing.

[00:06:24] Let's make it different.

[00:06:26] And so Luminix has continued that to kind of go forth.

[00:06:29] So if we're on the audio side of things, Luminix is, you know, one of

[00:06:33] the very founding fathers of some of the ABB stuff that has happened.

[00:06:37] We're seeing Luminix's involvement in several other protocols and actually

[00:06:41] helping with some of the standards that get created along those lines.

[00:06:44] And so Luminix does validate and they really are purpose built for

[00:06:49] what we do as the entertainment industry.

[00:06:50] So how do we buy the product?

[00:06:52] How do we get our hands on Luminix?

[00:06:53] So best way out of the bat, if you just want to know is to actually

[00:06:57] just send an email to info at AC lighting.com or just to ask your

[00:07:01] local dealer.

[00:07:02] Most of your integrators will probably have access to the, to Luminix

[00:07:06] as a part of their repertoire.

[00:07:08] So it's asking any of your local dealers, or if you don't have a

[00:07:11] local dealer, send us an email.

[00:07:12] We're happy to get you guys in touch with each other.

[00:07:14] So if you're interested in this product or just need help with your

[00:07:17] networking or lighting systems, please reach out to AC lighting.

[00:07:20] You can send them an email at info at AC lighting.com, or you can go

[00:07:25] to the website, AC lighting.com again, for all those listening out there.

[00:07:29] It's a C lighting.com.
