[00:00:10] Hey, hey, welcome to The Sports Reverends podcast. My name is Dan, I'm joined with the big bro known as the Coach.

[00:00:23] He is coached all around the world at least a global impact and we are so excited for the 20242025 Sports Reverends Season.

[00:00:35] How you doing Coach?

[00:00:36] I am great, I always cringe when you say global coach because it's like not true but, uh, globally.

[00:00:44] In fact, I was the one who I had that part in.

[00:00:47] I'll take the flowers for now and we'll see who comes out of the weed works to cut me down.

[00:00:52] That's okay, no, it's great, I'm excited to be back. It feels like forever and, uh,

[00:00:57] falls always a good time to restart sports.

[00:01:01] Why don't you walk us through what our show is going to look like today?

[00:01:05] Actually, before that I'll just say this for any of the new followers that may be tuning in.

[00:01:10] The Sports Reverends show is all about our unapologetic faith and hot sports takes.

[00:01:17] We talk about the NFL NBA, a little bit of Fully, NHL MLB will touch on.

[00:01:25] And we kind of talk about how sports has played a huge role in our faith journey and the stuff that's happening in sports now,

[00:01:32] how it's relevant in our faith journey today.

[00:01:35] So that's what our show is about coach, why don't you tell them what we're going to be touching on today?

[00:01:41] Yeah, absolutely, we're going to run through some quick hitters as you always do.

[00:01:44] I'll pay some bills. We're going to talk about a little highlights from the summer.

[00:01:48] It was a very, very busy sports summer with us awesome.

[00:01:53] NFL's back baby, a lot of people are happy, a lot of people may not have one there, fantasy matchups.

[00:01:59] We won't touch that yet, but we'll see.

[00:02:02] And we're going to talk about Caitlyn Clark a little bit as well.

[00:02:07] She's been igniting a lot of stuff.

[00:02:09] And then some real talk about hope and where we're looking for hope and how does the world look for hope?

[00:02:15] And I was Christians, we should maybe diversify away from that path.

[00:02:19] Go from there. Why don't you start us off?

[00:02:21] What are our quick hitters?

[00:02:22] For some quick hitters, the lost Angelus Lakers will wear a number 44 crest on their jerseys to honor the late great the logo Jerry West.

[00:02:35] Absolutely, 40 counters running back with Capri status is uncertain for week two.

[00:02:41] Mason had a good week one, but we'll be able to do it in week two. We'll see.

[00:02:45] All schemes that's pit-spirit pirates record for Ricky Strikeouts.

[00:02:52] Harry came, which is a hundred capser for those who don't follow soccer.

[00:02:55] It's a hundred games played for England with two goals against Finland and the win.

[00:03:02] And the Georgia Bulldogs remain in the number one spot on the AP 25.

[00:03:07] College football ranking. Let's handle some business.

[00:03:12] Alright, for those of you who are in you, this is one of our long-term sponsors, a train to invest.

[00:03:17] If you're looking to find a way to get out of the rat race, you're looking to understand how to plan for retirement.

[00:03:44] And honestly, it is taking the power out of somebody else's hands and putting into your own hands to identify what goals you want in life and how to get there.

[00:03:56] Many people think that you can just put it into an RSP and it'll be okay.

[00:04:01] But I think a lot of people have now understood what inflation is and how this impact can you in terms of your groceries, your gas, those all that kind of thing.

[00:04:09] And inflation is going to kill your retirement funds.

[00:04:12] So let's find a way to avoid that.

[00:04:15] So check us out www.traine.number2invest.com, download the free ebook and we'll go from there.

[00:04:21] So this is when I talk about the coach has a global impact because it's not only a coach on the court.

[00:04:28] But also coaches people in their finances as well.

[00:04:31] Check it out today.

[00:04:32] You can see the link in our YouTube bio as well.

[00:04:36] Alright coach, what's up first?

[00:04:38] Alright, I've discovered this a nice little softball for you.

[00:04:42] What are some of the sports highlights for you from the summer?

[00:04:44] There's a lot of things going on.

[00:04:47] A lot of things that don't normally happen.

[00:04:49] So one or two things that kind of stuck up to you from the summer.

[00:04:52] Oh, definitely the summer was filled with sports for once other than baseball.

[00:04:58] And I loved it because the blue jays are stinky right now.

[00:05:03] So I've been loving, I love the euros.

[00:05:06] This is probably the most I've ever watched of European soccer and the euros were really fun.

[00:05:12] Wasn't the quite the turnout that I wanted to, hoping for England to do better but they pulled the classic England move and did what they do.

[00:05:21] So that was definitely a highlight and I also loved the Olympic basketball.

[00:05:27] Also, a poor result for team Canada, I expected them to not only medal.

[00:05:34] I was going to tweet out that they're growing a win gold and they definitely did not.

[00:05:40] They definitely let me down there but there is hope as Canada basketball continues to grow.

[00:05:47] If they don't medal next summer Olympics or next World.

[00:05:50] If they're better the last World Cup, if they don't medal the next summer Olympics, heads will roll.

[00:05:57] Yeah, that's totally fair not quite the endings you're looking for for those things but yeah the euros were a great time.

[00:06:05] I will admit I watched a little bit while I was at work so thank you for working for home but that's okay.

[00:06:11] It's okay. You put in some extra hours overall.

[00:06:13] I love the Olympics. A Cypher in Controversia surrounding the opening ceremonies.

[00:06:20] What was really cool on a non sports level was the amount of stories that we saw of people praying and worshiping God and giving God the glory for their performance and I think that's something that really maybe because of social media but something that was never really a thing.

[00:06:37] I can't remember a storyline where people from all over the world were coming together to praise God before their events and do a worship things.

[00:06:45] That was really cool. Sports wise obviously team Canada not doing well but when we did great so I'm kind of happy for that but it's always cool to see the different sports that you don't normally get to see.

[00:06:59] I would say as cool as Beach volleyball is I think we got to spread our wings out a little bit more CBC and find some other things to watch as well because there's a lot of different storylines that were missed opportunities for sure but always a good thing to see sport to bring people together for sure.

[00:07:21] Yeah, a lot of fun things in the summer. A lot of fun things in the summer makes you excited for woke up.

[00:07:25] Canada will hold on to the only ever break dancing they called it breaking Olympic gold medal so that's something we can hold on to because they took it away and for good reason. Thank you Australia.

[00:07:40] Hey I mean she came out of perform even though she could goof just okay about did her thing I give her props for that.

[00:07:49] That's something something something else that's for sure forever legitimately cemented in history.

[00:07:59] Let's with those kind of reactions let's talk about NFL week one.

[00:08:04] I know you're super pumped and excited that we're back in action give me some your reactions some thoughts and I'll flip over to mine and we'll go from there.

[00:08:15] But ball is back baby. I love it. It's been an exciting time for me. I gave in my two week notice to my wife that Thursday's Sundays Mondays.

[00:08:26] I am now busy and she has fully accepted that and which is great. She's all on board.

[00:08:33] She's watching Netflix on her neck are on on her tablet and I'm watching football. It's a great season for me. It's fantasy football season and while week one was full of lots of mediocre football.

[00:08:46] I would say it was as fun football but the quarterback play and you could tell that all these teams are really missing out on the preseason practices and and the two or three days that they're not allowed to do any more.

[00:09:00] You can see that they're rusty and I get it. It's all to preserve injuries and all that kind of stuff.

[00:09:06] But wow, was it ever lackluster in many ways how many quarterbacks through for under 200 yards and how many draw passes how many miss routes there was lots there was lots and that's from all a famous future hall of famers too. So it was it was overall fun week one but I know most people are going to overreact going into weeks two and three and saying their team is already done for the year or expecting this at that from on from these things.

[00:09:34] I think week one you got a really temper your expectations it's week one.

[00:09:39] A lot's going to change going forward for the season.

[00:09:43] Yeah, I think week one started with a bang that Thursday night game was was something else.

[00:09:50] Yeah.

[00:09:50] Kind of wish I had taken the Friday off but that's okay. That's a long day. That's all right. I think that set the tone but I will go I will connect with you on this.

[00:09:58] There was a lot of mediocre quarterback play from guys who expected to step up a little bit like Kirk cousins we were you know a killies was a bit of a concern through a dud to Sean Watson remains terrible.

[00:10:13] But he's got so much money was Cleveland going to do Daniel Jones is Daniel Jones. I think he's he's throwing more picks sixes than touchdowns in the last little bit.

[00:10:25] So and the rookies were every expected CJ struck from these guys and they're not.

[00:10:33] And I think we could 10% of expectations big time.

[00:10:37] Yeah, he lived willing.

[00:10:39] It's still a quarterback.

[00:10:40] Oh yeah, Kayla Williams probably had the biggest meltdown that you could possibly have as a rookie quarterback and still the bears pulled off a win which is could be encouraging if you're a bears friend because usually that does not happen.

[00:10:55] And it can only only really go uphill from here. I think he does show flashes of it can be really good, but I think you got humbled pretty well this last Sunday.

[00:11:07] Yeah, I mean you go from preseason to the real thing not many defensive schemes are out in preseason right it's all a basic stuff I've 14 guys in out so.

[00:11:17] Yeah, we'll have to see maybe we see some growth throughout the season but the bears don't have much to go other than that. What are you doing with the dynamic kickoffs?

[00:11:30] I am not a huge fan of them. It was it was okay. It was okay.

[00:11:35] I don't think it might just take some getting used to.

[00:11:38] I'm not on the board or on the camp of get rid of them or go back to the old way.

[00:11:44] I'm more like, I don't really care.

[00:11:48] Just got to get used to it.

[00:11:49] I think I think the reason is it's supposed to reduce injury.

[00:11:53] I'm assuming.

[00:11:54] Yeah, but I'm not sure.

[00:11:57] Yeah, and I don't think there's too many injuries on those kickoffs, but.

[00:12:02] There were some interesting rules I didn't know about so if they kick it through a squib kick through the end zone, they get to start at that 20 only.

[00:12:13] But if they kick it through the end zone, it's if they started at the 30. I didn't know that until Sunday. So that was kind of different too.

[00:12:20] But yeah, it's a little gimmicky.

[00:12:23] It is gimmicky. I think there I mean they've tried to increase their entertainment value right and I think injuries is one thing but also getting returns.

[00:12:32] Happening is another. In the I think in the preseason there's like 75% returns as kind of teams.

[00:12:37] Master on with things, but week one last year versus week one this year.

[00:12:42] You saw tickoffs be returned 27% versus 36% of the time.

[00:12:48] So that's a big jump week.

[00:12:50] Yeah, you know year over year and I think it's good to bring some entertainment value and we'll definitely help some fantasy teams as extra points to put on the board.

[00:12:58] So potentially.

[00:13:00] You mentioned a couple of the quarterbacks that struggled and those are kind of quarterbacks that have always been kind of on the bubble.

[00:13:08] I was forced to prize by the Lamar Jackson. I was more surprised by Jalen Hertz.

[00:13:13] I was more surprised by even Trevor Lawrence in the second half, like these guys adjusted her.

[00:13:18] All these guys they really played poorly. Like it looked ugly.

[00:13:24] There's a few guys that look good like my homes looked alright Aaron Rogers actually looked really good.

[00:13:29] Yeah, you know they just had some unlucky drops and a fumble all like I think he looked pretty solid.

[00:13:36] He looks it was good to see him back. I was happy to see him back.

[00:13:39] I know he gets a lot of hate now for all the I don't know whatever people's opinions upon him but I like him.

[00:13:45] I think he looks good. I think the jets are going to be good.

[00:13:49] Joe Burrow looked horrible man like so all these top tier quarterbacks.

[00:13:53] I was just a little shocked by those guys to look that bad.

[00:13:58] And I mean you have to wonder giving up the extra preseason game for extra regular season game is it helping out things so it's just for the money.

[00:14:10] I think we just see more and more just for the money right? So that will be everything to watch week over week.

[00:14:16] See if anything improves and go from there.

[00:14:20] Let's talk about something that I really didn't think we'd be talking about consistently the WNBA.

[00:14:27] The WNBA.

[00:14:30] You know like more means being sent to the WNBA to an actual conversation.

[00:14:37] I personally not that I'm ripping the WNBA is just boring. It's just boring, that's fine. I'm not that big but you're going to get us canceled.

[00:14:46] I'll pray extra hard tonight for that. I'm just going to be okay.

[00:14:49] Okay. What's interesting is you have this straight, wake woman completely pissing people off.

[00:15:01] Just because she's playing basketball the right way.

[00:15:04] And it's so shocking to me that this individual who doesn't, who isn't outrageous, doesn't say outrageous things is pretty humble off the court.

[00:15:17] Pretty much pleasure to have limitations has gotten all these women riled up young old.

[00:15:25] They just kind of riled up because they thought they couldn't do it and she's doing it. Of course you're talking about Kaelan Clark.

[00:15:34] I'll ask you this. This is good as advertised.

[00:15:38] To be honest, I have not watched a full game.

[00:15:42] I know that's, I did try.

[00:15:46] I did try to watch and I know a lot of people said, oh, it's good basketball. It's really a poor product and I couldn't finish it.

[00:15:57] I didn't enjoy it. What I've seen of her is that she stands out completely with whoever she's playing with.

[00:16:05] She plays basketball very intelligently. She's incredible shooter. Great handles, great court vision. I saw a stat that she has the most tied for the most 25 points tennis games and I found out that that stat is not a seasoned stat.

[00:16:24] That is a career stat.

[00:16:29] So yes, you heard that correctly. 25 points tennis says she has tied for the most already in her not finished rookie season for anyone else in the WMB career.

[00:16:44] So this is the making of the will Chamberlain of the WMB A, which you could see this league grow and you could see it doing well.

[00:16:57] But right now the town level and maybe the schemes I don't know what it is. It's not a great product.

[00:17:04] And if you want to argue with us about that, go ahead. But I'm coming at it from a really unbi- don't have any tie to or against the WMB A.

[00:17:16] Just I tried watching it. I've given it a chance. I'll probably give it another chance, but I'm not excited by it. I don't find it a good product.

[00:17:24] I do like Caitlin Clark. I'll give this. I know Angel Reese probably gets a lot of hates probably from my side of you.

[00:17:33] I will say this, she did sign the greatest sponsorship that fits her name. She did sign with Reese's Peanut Butter Cops and that makes sense.

[00:17:41] And I thought that was a huge win.

[00:17:43] But yeah, Caitlin Clark, she plays the game kind of in a humble way. She's cocking on the court a little bit but she plays it the right ways when I'm trying to say Angel Reese kind of plays the game like a tough defensive rebounder.

[00:17:59] Not a great score, right? It's still very flawed in how she plays and they're trying to compare the two to be rivals.

[00:18:06] It's like it's not it's like it's comparing Michael Jordan to to this is a boost range or he's but to Dennis Rodman and no one would ever do that. No one would ever do that.

[00:18:17] So did you hear about Cheryl swoops?

[00:18:21] No, I did not. She's been Clark Ben, right?

[00:18:24] She is well, they had to remove her from Caitlin Clark broadcasts from the broadcasts for Caitlin Clark because of her hatred towards Caitlin Clark.

[00:18:35] That's true.

[00:18:36] Yes.

[00:18:37] Oh, I'm sorry, I'm thinking somebody, I'm thinking something different. Yeah.

[00:18:40] Cheryl swoops hates Caitlin Clark.

[00:18:42] They know that.

[00:18:43] I thought you were saying that facetiously and they actually removed her from the broadcasts for Caitlin Clark.

[00:18:50] And this is what I'm talking about, right? Like first they were complaining they're not getting paid enough.

[00:18:57] And then the rational and again, the rational thing is you leave glue's as money every year.

[00:19:05] So basically you are getting paid to do play basketball for free because all of us subsidize with NBA.

[00:19:13] Fine, you get better pay.

[00:19:15] Then it's all we're not getting charter jets like the NBA teams.

[00:19:20] Well, NBA teams pull in way more money than you.

[00:19:24] Nike is going to spend way more money on an NBA team versus a WNB team.

[00:19:29] Fine, all of a sudden Caitlin Clark comes in money starts pouring into the league.

[00:19:33] Newsponsorship blah blah blah.

[00:19:36] And you have these entitled basketball players going on social media saying,

[00:19:41] Oh, I had to fly first class. I didn't get my charter jet that calm down your jets coming.

[00:19:48] And then all these people who've been in the league for a long time who haven't made an impact via social media via the game itself.

[00:19:57] Haven't driven any sort of excitement in the last 10 years.

[00:20:01] Try and put this person down who they never met.

[00:20:05] Diana Toroci just said she's getting ready.

[00:20:08] She's not ready for this blah blah.

[00:20:10] And all the trash talked to you and she is supposedly a typical trash talker in the WNB.

[00:20:20] Kevin Clark has dominated those matchups dominated.

[00:20:25] Right, and again I'm not saying that there was definitely an age gap for sure.

[00:20:30] I get it.

[00:20:31] But if you're going to talk smack, you got to be able to back it up.

[00:20:34] Oh, I will talk all the smack my going play basketball.

[00:20:38] When I played a little guys when I go play the grown man,

[00:20:43] I keep my mouth shut.

[00:20:45] A, I'm short, B, I'm out of shape.

[00:20:47] See, I haven't shot a ball in forever.

[00:20:50] So when I go back to Lyndon and I'm with the guys.

[00:20:54] And when they hold the guys up in the court, you guys, yeah, I am all in there.

[00:20:58] You're talking to them because I know you're a small little guy.

[00:21:01] I'm going to post you up.

[00:21:02] I'm using my big butt and you're dead.

[00:21:05] Now, if I'm going to go post up guys here in Toronto,

[00:21:08] nah, I'm cute and I'm not sure.

[00:21:10] I'm passing the ball.

[00:21:11] I know my role.

[00:21:13] I know it.

[00:21:14] These ladies are, they come off as so self entitled.

[00:21:19] And it's, and it's, and tip and your 1000% correct, the product isn't good.

[00:21:24] There are highlight reels of passes that Katelyn Clark is making.

[00:21:28] That her teammates just bobble.

[00:21:30] There's a highlight package of Angel Rees missing layup upon layup upon layup

[00:21:36] and being celebrated for a double double.

[00:21:40] And I just, I don't get it.

[00:21:43] It's not whoever's running the WMBA doesn't seem very business minded.

[00:21:50] She was in part of the three-point contest.

[00:21:53] She's barely part of all star right?

[00:21:55] You're allowing her to, she got roughed up in the first couple of course, couple of weeks

[00:22:00] with clearly, clearly bad files.

[00:22:04] It's like you got to protect your image, you're a protect your superstars and you have to package

[00:22:10] it in a way that we want to watch it.

[00:22:13] So you just pretty, like it's not that difficult, I don't think.

[00:22:18] And the knowing part is the, the fact that all these big names will say like,

[00:22:24] back, saying yes, we need to get these women paid now.

[00:22:28] And it's just like the new trend, the trend of the day and it's just gross.

[00:22:33] It's just gross.

[00:22:34] It's like, come on.

[00:22:35] Let's just smart enough here.

[00:22:37] The G-League, the NBA, G-League, makes more money than the WMBA.

[00:22:41] The Canadian football league has better attendance than the WMBA.

[00:22:48] What do we say in here?

[00:22:49] Like what do we do in here?

[00:22:50] I don't get it.

[00:22:51] I just, they play 30 games in a season.

[00:22:54] They, and so even if they took the work per ratio hours, you know,

[00:23:00] look how much they're getting paid and percentages.

[00:23:02] It's just, it's unbelievable.

[00:23:03] It's unbelievable.

[00:23:05] So yeah.

[00:23:06] Let me get, we're not saying that the women shouldn't get paid.

[00:23:10] But you're not going to be paid.

[00:23:11] No one's making James Harden Money in that league.

[00:23:15] Right?

[00:23:15] No one's making James Harden Money.

[00:23:17] Let's just focus on turning up profit.

[00:23:20] That's the thing.

[00:23:21] Right? If you flipped it, if it was the WMBA and that was making lots of money in the NBA that wasn't,

[00:23:27] I'd be saying the same thing.

[00:23:30] It's unbelievable.

[00:23:30] And logic.

[00:23:33] It's an, remember.

[00:23:35] Yes, basketball is a sport.

[00:23:37] We'll get it.

[00:23:38] But at this level, it's also entertainment.

[00:23:41] Right?

[00:23:43] And for all of you people out there who are saying,

[00:23:47] get them paid, get them paid.

[00:23:50] Have you bought a ticket to see WMBA game?

[00:23:53] I guess is no.

[00:23:55] I think Toronto is going to be really well for the WMBA team that comes next year or 236.

[00:24:03] Just because there's a lot of people who love basketball and it's,

[00:24:07] County, if you see, they'll just support it regardless.

[00:24:10] When you look at the other stadiums, they're very empty.

[00:24:13] Yeah, very, like said forward, the Indiana fever.

[00:24:17] There's a couple of stadiums that are doing well.

[00:24:20] I think they need to take their time to build it up and grow it and let it do this thing.

[00:24:26] And I think, a good or a good finish.

[00:24:28] And just put the heartbeat of trying to grow it as players.

[00:24:33] You know what I mean?

[00:24:34] So yeah.

[00:24:35] I think a great example would be the MLS.

[00:24:38] Yeah.

[00:24:38] MLS looked like a complete joke when the first started.

[00:24:42] But they've slowly tweaked the game.

[00:24:45] They've built it from the grassroots up.

[00:24:47] A lot of development is put on US born players.

[00:24:53] And you see that, the women's soccer team is amazing.

[00:24:56] The men's soccer team is decent.

[00:24:59] You know?

[00:25:01] And they're hosting a roll-up.

[00:25:04] You have guys like Messi, even though he's in the end of his career,

[00:25:08] generational talents coming over.

[00:25:11] Right? So I think for a business perspective,

[00:25:15] the WMB and he's still better.

[00:25:18] If you look at just even marketing,

[00:25:20] MB is always like, grant versus LeBron.

[00:25:23] There's none of that going on.

[00:25:26] And you got to protect your product.

[00:25:28] So yeah.

[00:25:30] I think the last, the last bit before we jump off here is,

[00:25:35] I told you a few weeks ago that Angel Reese

[00:25:41] would be in the conversation for a few of the year.

[00:25:46] And I'm pretty sure if he doesn't get hurt, she might have won.

[00:25:49] Like I'm 85% sure she might have won if she didn't get hurt.

[00:25:56] Just unbelievable if that would ever happen.

[00:25:59] I didn't believe you.

[00:26:01] And then all this talk comes out about Angel Reese became ESPN's

[00:26:06] number one on the rank who's really leader-list and I say,

[00:26:10] come on. This is joke. It's such a joke.

[00:26:13] Such a joke. I have no other words to say it's just a joke.

[00:26:17] And coming from the laughing league that is ESPN,

[00:26:24] apparently you just got to be either colored transgender gay

[00:26:30] and ESPN's gonna prop you up.

[00:26:32] Yeah. And if you oppose those things or if you're anything different,

[00:26:36] forget about it. Forget about it.

[00:26:39] Yeah, I think it's a lot of WNB talk.

[00:26:43] That's just the most I've ever talked to with WNB, just haven't.

[00:26:47] I think so too. And we'll see what happens next week.

[00:26:51] But let's face more bills. What have we got up next?

[00:26:55] Urban hope. It's a mentorship program that I get to run in downtown

[00:26:59] and it provides a safe place for kids in youth and a marginalized

[00:27:03] neighborhood. We provide a safe space. We provide teaching and mentoring

[00:27:07] and teach also older youth to develop their mentorship skills.

[00:27:13] And they get to have opportunities to put into practice with the younger kids as well.

[00:27:17] So it's a very cool program we get to run from different drop-in nights for kids

[00:27:21] and youth to building into our basketball academy that coaches eventually

[00:27:27] gonna hopefully run as we build that up and secure court times, secure teams.

[00:27:32] And all that kind of stuff. If you want to be a part of this journey,

[00:27:35] be a part of partnering with Urban Hope and building us up,

[00:27:39] please take a moment and check out our the link in our bio.

[00:27:44] It'll bring you right to donation to UrbanHope.ca

[00:27:49] and help us out there.

[00:27:51] If you can give that be fantastic. If you're in Canada,

[00:27:55] you do receive a tax receipt.

[00:27:58] Gift receipt as well. So thank you very much for that.

[00:28:03] And yeah, that's Urban Hope. Support it. Let's keep it going.

[00:28:08] Yeah, a great program. A lot of life changed and it's cool to see the young guys

[00:28:12] roll through and young ladies roll through to you. So it's fun.

[00:28:15] That's fun. All right. I think this is kind of

[00:28:18] shifted over the last little bit, whereas become one of our favorite segments.

[00:28:22] And we've come to come a more popular segment with our viewers and it's

[00:28:26] it's a real talk segment where we combine sports and faith and talk about

[00:28:31] the real important things. And I think today's topic is more about

[00:28:39] where to look for hope and what is your source of hope.

[00:28:45] There is this really interesting dichotomy between Christians and

[00:28:50] non-Christians where you want to live the life following Christ is very

[00:28:59] anti-worldly. And it's very contrarian. So yeah, let's jump into that.

[00:29:10] Let's just start right. Easy question. As a Christian, where do you find hope?

[00:29:18] You know, hope can not be found in people, you know, I shared that on Sunday.

[00:29:24] If you put your hope and people, they'll fail you because that's what

[00:29:28] people are. My including myself, we were on people. People are flawed. They

[00:29:34] mess up. They send. They change your minds when things aren't going their way.

[00:29:39] They aren't reliable or even nearly as reliable as, as God is only hope can be

[00:29:46] found in as what we know as is Jesus Christ. That's who we know on our

[00:29:51] hope is he's the hope of the world. That's when we celebrate Christmas as

[00:29:55] the hope of the world being birthed into this world. And then he went on to

[00:30:00] save the world. You know, he paid for the price for our sins and we still

[00:30:03] hold on to that hope. We still hold onto the hope because he, the script

[00:30:08] says that he is with us when when Jesus went to heaven, he gave us the

[00:30:12] Holy Spirit who's with us and that's our hope. Our hope every single day

[00:30:16] or hope of the reason why I get up in the morning, the reason why I got

[00:30:20] to share the good news in different areas of my life and help others.

[00:30:26] That's my hope. Yeah, I think that's you know, it's a heart thing

[00:30:33] that's going to happen. We're going to have a hope though because it's

[00:30:36] unseen. It just kind of faith, you kind of have to trust that it's going

[00:30:43] to happen or trust in, as a Christian. You're trusting God that there is

[00:30:49] hope. Right, and in the world, you see people put their hope in

[00:30:53] people. They put their hope in sports, ideologies. But there's nothing

[00:30:59] concrete that they can say, I'm going to put my hope in this and it's going to make things better.

[00:31:04] A lot of it is just fleeting and it's not rooted in anything.

[00:31:11] How would you encourage a fellow believer to discuss hope with their friends and non-believers?

[00:31:21] You know like, I was thinking about this with the whole Caitlin Clark thing in Angel

[00:31:26] or he's saying, you know, Caitlin Clark approached the basketball.

[00:31:31] I'm going to get to the gym.

[00:31:32] I'm going to play every single day and I'm just going to work on myself getting better.

[00:31:36] Well, where Angel Reese kind of has this expectation that she should be given this blessing

[00:31:46] of being great.

[00:31:48] That she should be given what she hasn't even earned yet.

[00:31:51] You know, as always, what's that word that I'm looking for?

[00:31:55] It's entitled.

[00:31:56] It's an entitlement, exactly.

[00:31:59] And you know, I think if you look at it this way, so many people focus on, let's say they're

[00:32:05] going through a trial or a storm in their life.

[00:32:07] So many people focus on that trial.

[00:32:10] They focus on why is this happening to me?

[00:32:13] Why is this what that I do to cause this or if this is really real, Lord, if you're

[00:32:21] really will, why would you even put me into something like this?

[00:32:23] And I've been trying to challenge different people on changing their mindset a bit.

[00:32:29] It's like, you know, stop focusing on the trial at hand.

[00:32:34] You know, look, look, they're out your life already.

[00:32:36] You've already been brought through many different storms in your life.

[00:32:40] You've been brought through many different challenges.

[00:32:43] Stop focusing on that.

[00:32:44] Don't even focus on the history of even the miracles that you've gone through or even the

[00:32:53] things here.

[00:32:54] I challenge people as to focus on the source of hope, the source that's going to, instead

[00:33:00] of focusing on the challenge for focus on the source of hope that's going to bring

[00:33:03] the following resolution.

[00:33:06] And so you said it's challenging to have hope in, that's where if you've experienced the

[00:33:13] hope before, if you've experienced the being going through this storm before, you know

[00:33:18] that it's going to be there.

[00:33:19] I can't.

[00:33:20] That's why, you know, my wife, she gets angry at me.

[00:33:23] When we're in pressure situations, if it's driving or whatever the situation is because

[00:33:29] I'm naturally pretty calm under pressure.

[00:33:31] I think sports is help me become under pressure.

[00:33:33] It's different having a hope and knowing that in the middle of a storm that my boat

[00:33:39] is not going to turn over.

[00:33:40] I know that because I know God is with me is not going to leave me or forsake me.

[00:33:44] So it's one thing to have it as an emotion or a practice of having calmness under pressure.

[00:33:49] But something different when you have a hope that you know is not from anywhere in this

[00:33:55] earth.

[00:33:55] It's a divine hope.

[00:33:56] It's a hope that's going to help you see you through it.

[00:33:58] It's a hope that's going to help you live up to the standard that the Bible sets, right?

[00:34:05] That's the hope.

[00:34:06] That's the, the, the divine joy and peace that you get as a Christfellet.

[00:34:13] Yeah, I don't know.

[00:34:16] No, I think that's, I think that's great.

[00:34:19] Because I think we're, we're, we're correctly from wrong.

[00:34:22] I think you're, we're, you're looting to is it's not just throwing up a prayer and

[00:34:29] and us hoping that it happens.

[00:34:32] True hope is understanding what has happened to you in the past and the faithfulness of God

[00:34:39] is going to happen to the future and understanding that what you desire is

[00:34:47] isn't really what's important for God desires.

[00:34:51] Because I think, yeah, because I think a lot of times, you know, we come up with these

[00:34:56] solutions in our head of like, okay, if this happens and this happens and this happens,

[00:35:00] this happens, it's problem solved.

[00:35:03] And God's looking at you like, bro, you just prayed to me and said, I'm going to give

[00:35:08] this up to you, but you're not letting me do what I mean to do.

[00:35:11] You're not, you're not listening or you're not, you're not praying, you're not

[00:35:15] doing the stuff that you need to do to get what you want on this life.

[00:35:22] And so it's that practical application of, okay, God has done this in my life already.

[00:35:30] So he's faithful.

[00:35:32] I'm going to continue to be faithful to God by living my life, the way living my life,

[00:35:36] the way it should be or do my best and waiting on God to come through with a miracle

[00:35:41] or an answer for my prayer or a situation.

[00:35:45] Yeah, I think it's also just knowing that whatever comes in your path, whatever

[00:35:52] challenge is in the way it's knowing that it's it's it's for a purpose and a plan.

[00:35:57] And even though it may be tough, you know, when you're heart that, you know, it's for a reason.

[00:36:03] And what's that reason for me?

[00:36:05] You may not know, you may not know till five years later, but you know you're going

[00:36:09] to hold on to God and you're going to be faithful and he's going to see you through.

[00:36:12] He's not going to let your boat tip over.

[00:36:15] You're not not not going to let you sink and down the line, you're going to look back and

[00:36:19] saying, oh yeah, this is the reason why, this is the reason for this challenge.

[00:36:26] And you're going to see yourself develop.

[00:36:28] You're going to see yourself grow in your relationship with God too, right?

[00:36:33] It's it is a growing journey that we're on.

[00:36:38] Yeah, no, that's great.

[00:36:40] And honestly, you know, I think one thing is that we as Christiany to do is also share our wins.

[00:36:48] Yeah.

[00:36:48] Share what God is doing because you have no idea what one small win in your life could

[00:36:54] mean to somebody else.

[00:36:56] Or when they're hearing the story of like, oh, you know, I needed money to pay my bills

[00:37:01] and my GST check came in and earlier whatever.

[00:37:04] Like, yeah, okay, some people can tie this coincident.

[00:37:06] This is what God is moving.

[00:37:08] But it's like God is answering your parent where you didn't expect and you're being faithful

[00:37:12] and hopeful and and that resonates with people, right?

[00:37:15] And it also helps you resonate and and I think have a story behind your life.

[00:37:23] Right, a lot of people with some people struggle with some people don't with that.

[00:37:26] And remember what God has done is a good way to do that.

[00:37:29] Well, I think one of the most toxic things I get back to this Caitlin Clark Angel

[00:37:33] like I think Angel reads she looks at Caitlin Clark she's comparing everything she does to Caitlin Clark.

[00:37:40] Great, the fans, the the money, all this stuff, right?

[00:37:43] And and I think when you compare it's one of the most toxic things you can do, right?

[00:37:47] You if you look at in terms of your your faith walk, you look at other people and it looks like,

[00:37:53] oh, things are so easy for them or things are so blessed for them.

[00:37:56] But reality that's just not how it all goes, right?

[00:38:00] It's one of the most dangerous routes to take.

[00:38:03] So I would say don't compare yourself to other people, focus on what God has in the

[00:38:08] store for you, focus on what your path is that God has for you.

[00:38:12] It's for a reason for a plan to see you grow, to see you excel, to see you succeed.

[00:38:19] And that's what it's all about folks. It's about going in your path God and it's exceeding

[00:38:24] We're here to do that and part of the how we do that is through our socials,

[00:38:29] our Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, very popular, expect to see more more stuff coming out through us.

[00:38:37] So check us out, like subscribe, follow all that fun things and I think next week we're going to have

[00:38:42] a very special paying off of a bet so be ready for that and yeah, get ready to enjoy it.
