[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Morning Glory, your daily source of spiritual nourishment and inspiration.
[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Hi and welcome back to Morning Glory.
[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_01]: My name is Maurice.
[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Today our devotion is about a Christian perspective of the 2190 Rule.
[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_01]: This rule suggests that it takes 21 days to create a habit and 90 days to turn that habit
[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_01]: into a permanent lifestyle change.
[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_01]: The idea is that if you consistently practice a new behavior for 21 days, it will become
[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_01]: a habit.
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_01]: If you continue that behavior for 90 days, it will become an ingrained part of your lifestyle.
[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: My question is, what does the Bible say about creating good habits, turning those habits
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: into positive lifestyle changes, and the period of time it will take to do it?
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_01]: The Bible encourages us to adopt a lifelong approach to spiritual growth, discipline, renewal,
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and reliance on God.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't give a specific timeframe, but underscores the importance of continuous effort and trust
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_01]: in God's timing.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Forming good habits and making lifestyle changes are a gradual, ongoing process, which involves
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: a daily commitment and dependence on God.
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Here are some key concepts to remember.
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Depend on God, Proverbs 16 and 3 says,
[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.
[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Have discipline and perseverance.
[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Hebrews 12 and 11 says,
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.
[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_01]: First, Corinthians 9 and 24 says,
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Run in such a way as to get the prize.
[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Transformation
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Romans 12 and 2 says,
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing, and perfect will.
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: The Christian life involves continuous growth and self-discipline that brings long-term rewards.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Sustained effort and reliance on God's guidance will lead to good habits and transform your life.
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Here are some practical applications for creating good habits and making lifelong changes.
[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Number 1. Start your day with prayer. Ask Him for wisdom to guide your steps.
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Number 2. Study your Bible. Dedicate time to read, meditate, and apply the Word and watch how it transforms your life.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Number 3. Trust in God's timing. Change takes time.
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Have faith and know that God is at work in and through you. Trust in His promises.
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: The Bible provides clear guidance on the principles of discipline, perseverance, transformation, and dependence on God.
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: These principles help us form and maintain godly habits, leading to a successful and fulfilling life.
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's pray. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the wisdom in your Word.
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Help us to embrace discipline and trust in your perfect timing.
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Guide us to form habits that honor you and lead to a fulfilling life.
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: May we find strength in your promises and live lives that reflect you. In Jesus' name, amen.
