[00:00:29] Morning Glory, your daily source of spiritual nourishment and inspiration.
[00:00:34] Hi and welcome to Morning Glory. My name is Maurice.
[00:00:37] Today we have a very interesting devotion.
[00:00:39] It's about aligning our intellect with Divine Revelation.
[00:00:42] In our pursuit of knowledge and understanding,
[00:00:44] it's easy to rely on our intellect and human wisdom.
[00:00:47] While these are gifts from God, they must be aligned with Divine Revelation,
[00:00:51] truths that come directly from God through His Word.
[00:00:54] The Bible encourages us to seek wisdom,
[00:00:56] but it also warns us against the danger of leaning solely on our understanding,
[00:01:01] which can lead us away from God's truth.
[00:01:04] Proverbs 3, 5, and 6 says,
[00:01:07] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.
[00:01:11] In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your path straight.
[00:01:15] Human wisdom, no matter how profound, is limited.
[00:01:20] 1 Corinthians 125 reads,
[00:01:22] For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom,
[00:01:27] and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
[00:01:30] This verse reminds us that even the greatest human intellect cannot compare to God's wisdom.
[00:01:36] Throughout history many have tried to reconcile human philosophy with the truths of Scripture,
[00:01:40] sometimes elevating human reasoning above God's Word.
[00:01:43] But as Christians, we are called to submit our understanding to God,
[00:01:47] recognizing that His ways are higher than our ways.
[00:01:50] Isaiah 55, 8 and 9 says,
[00:02:05] One of the most critical aspects of aligning our intellect with divine revelation
[00:02:11] is the role of the Holy Spirit.
[00:02:14] Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth.
[00:02:18] John 16, 13 says,
[00:02:32] When we rely on the Holy Spirit, our minds are open to understand the deeper truths of Scripture.
[00:02:39] This doesn't mean we abandon reason.
[00:02:41] Rather, we use our intellect to explore,
[00:02:43] understand, and apply God's Word, always with the guidance of the Spirit.
[00:02:49] 1 Corinthians 2, 14 reads,
[00:03:09] Start by acknowledging that God's Word is the ultimate authority.
[00:03:13] Approach the Bible with a heart ready to learn and be corrected,
[00:03:17] even when it challenges your understanding.
[00:03:19] Step 2, Prayerful Study
[00:03:22] Before studying Scripture, pray for the Holy Spirit to guide your understanding.
[00:03:27] Ask God to reveal His truth and to align your thoughts with His.
[00:03:31] Step 3, Seek wise counsel.
[00:03:34] Surround yourself with mature Christians who can offer insights and help you discern
[00:03:38] between human wisdom and divine revelation.
[00:04:08] Proverbs 11, 14 says,
[00:04:16] God gave us intellect as a powerful tool, but it must be used in harmony with divine revelation.
[00:04:23] When we align our minds with God's truth, we gain wisdom that surpasses human understanding.
[00:04:29] Let us continually seek to integrate our knowledge with the wisdom of Scripture,
[00:04:34] relying on the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth.
[00:04:37] In doing so, we fulfill the command to love God not just with our hearts and souls,
[00:04:42] but also with our minds.
[00:04:45] Matthew 22, 37 says,
[00:04:53] Let's pray.
[00:04:54] Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of intellect and the ability to seek knowledge
[00:04:59] and understanding. We acknowledge that true wisdom comes from you, and we ask
[00:05:04] that you help us align our minds with your divine revelation and guide us into all truth
[00:05:09] and keep us from leaning on our own understanding.
[00:05:12] May our thoughts, decisions, and actions reflect your wisdom and bring glory to your name.
[00:05:19] Teach us to submit to your Word and to live out its truths daily.
[00:05:23] Help us to grow in our relationship with you, loving you with all our heart, soul, and mind.
[00:05:29] In Jesus' name, amen.
