Do you feel look past? Discouraged? Mistreated? Be encouraged! The Lord sees and is able to do all things and make ALL THINGS NEW!!

[00:00:00] and welcome to JHEIS Place where he is always center stage. My name is Jessica

[00:00:23] Poche and today we are going to go through a beautiful attribute of God

[00:00:30] calling him by his name El Shubh. Okay but before we dive into that let's go

[00:00:39] ahead and pray. Dear God we thank you and we praise you for this day that you have granted us.

[00:00:46] Lord we thank you for just an audience with you that we can pray to you, that we can come to

[00:00:53] you as we are, that you see us in our places of destitute, that you see us when we're alone,

[00:00:59] that you see us in the midst of others, that you know what's taking place, you know what's

[00:01:02] going on and you are moving on our behalf even if we can't see it. So God, those of us who are on a

[00:01:16] journey of transformation, those of us who are on a journey of new thank you for giving us courage,

[00:01:25] for giving us strength, for giving us wisdom to cross over in the land that you have promised.

[00:01:32] We thank you for being good to us. We praise you for your faithfulness. Would you seal this word

[00:01:39] in our hearts? God humble me please, that you are able to speak through me and touch the hearts

[00:01:45] of your people and I pray that the hearts of your people are encouraged, transformed, renewed

[00:01:53] and have great hope. I thank you and I praise you for it in Jesus' name amen. Amen. Okay so this

[00:02:01] is going to be a quick one. I'm not necessarily going to read scripture but I'm going to reference

[00:02:07] scripture but what I want you to do is actually go back and read the story of Joseph and that's

[00:02:14] going to be in Genesis 37 and he's going to skip 38 for a second unless you want to hear the

[00:02:19] story of tomorrow but you're going to skip 38 and then go through 39 to 50 and that's going to

[00:02:25] give you the whole story of Joseph. We're just to back up a little bit. Joseph is the son of Jacob.

[00:02:32] You all remember Jacob, Jacob and Esau, you know that story so you have Jacob here whose name

[00:02:39] is changed to Israel and he ends up having 12 sons is where we get the nation of Israel, the 12

[00:02:46] the 12 sons and so you have Joseph who is one of the sons. Okay now we know that Joseph was

[00:03:00] a man of vision, a boy of vision too, who God gave him dreams and the gift of interpretation of

[00:03:07] dreams and when he shared that with his family they didn't quite like it. They didn't like his

[00:03:14] gift so he shared these dreams and not only that he was favored by his daddy and I know we talked

[00:03:21] about this in previous episode but he was favored by his dad. He was so much favored by his dad that

[00:03:28] his dad made him a coat of many colors right? So you have Joseph here and his dad who loves

[00:03:39] his son, that's his boy and yes he has other sons over here but this one number 11 is the blessing

[00:03:50] and so after Joseph shares the dream that God gave him, his brothers and even his daddy, his

[00:03:58] daddy questioned his daddy questioned but the brothers was like oh no because the dream is

[00:04:03] talking about them basically serving him and even his daddy was like you mean to tell me me

[00:04:08] your mama and everybody gonna be serving you? You know but um but they didn't like that. They

[00:04:13] didn't like the vision that God put inside of them and so they set up to actually kill him

[00:04:19] but one of the brothers stepped in and was like no let's not kill him but let's put him into

[00:04:24] slavery and what they did was took his coat, the coat that his daddy gave him, the coat that

[00:04:33] marked that he was favored, the coat that he wore that maybe gave him comfort to know you are loved

[00:04:40] by the father, that coat they took it off of him and they put it in blood to make it look like

[00:04:52] he got in an accident rather than being sold into slavery and normally we hear this story

[00:04:58] right? Everybody wants to be Joseph in this story. Well everybody wants to be Joseph after

[00:05:04] this incident in this story you know and then we have Joseph who gets taken in and he becomes the

[00:05:12] worker in Potiphar's house then a little cougar, Potiphar's wife want to try to get at him and

[00:05:17] he's like I I I check and then he he gets put in jail based on the lie, he interprets dreams,

[00:05:23] they forget about him then he gets put back in the palace elevated back to his position after he

[00:05:29] after he um he interprets a dream for Pharaoh and then he gets put in one of the highest positions

[00:05:35] and he helps manage a famine that was coming right? And so everyone loves this this story

[00:05:42] of Joseph from rags to riches. Joseph the one that got to be put in second in command.

[00:05:54] Everyone loves that story but as I read and a lot of these messages actually come through

[00:06:00] devotions of my own reading so I'm actually in the story of Joseph right now and sorry it's

[00:06:07] hitting my heart and one of the things that gets missed out of this story is Jacob or Israel,

[00:06:16] the dad. So we see the son get mistreated, we see the son get sold into slavery, get

[00:06:27] betrayed by his brothers, his son is going through all this pain, all of this mischief,

[00:06:37] all of this stuff over here and his dad doesn't even know. His dad is unaware of what his son

[00:06:48] is experiencing and the reason is because his other sons not the baby Benjamin but the other sons

[00:06:58] who were jealous of Joseph they lied to the dad and said that a beast basically took him

[00:07:06] and they allowed a Jacob Israel himself to be like there's no way he's still alive

[00:07:14] and so he sat year after year believing that his son was picked apart, that his son had a horrible death

[00:07:30] that his son was struggling when in reality. His son was having a struggle but was still alive.

[00:07:39] Joseph was 17 years old, it was 17 years old when he was sold into slavery.

[00:07:55] 17 favored by his dad, 17 years old. Imagine that and you're like in your mind what happened

[00:08:13] to my child in all these years from 17 to what is it 30 when he was finally appointed so as 13 years

[00:08:25] where he's appointed in a position of leadership under the household of Pharaoh. So that's 13 years

[00:08:32] even from that time but that's still a lie being held. His brothers held a lie to their father.

[00:08:40] They lied to their dad they had a secret that they were holding on to while they watched their dad

[00:08:55] every day suffer and they didn't share that like the daddy's heart, the daddy's grief wasn't even

[00:09:07] enough for them to break their silence and admit they're wrong like it just it wasn't enough

[00:09:16] so they watched their dad broken and I could just imagine it of course being a widow right losing

[00:09:24] a friend, losing an uncle and an auntie recently like a cousin like just so many things that I have

[00:09:30] been experiencing and when you go through grief like it's noticeable it's not something that's hidden

[00:09:38] because your emotions can be extremely happy and extremely good and the next moment they're sad

[00:09:46] and your continents fell you know false you may have tears you know that come up and so it

[00:09:51] changes your disposition and so you have these 10 sons who are watching their dad struggle

[00:10:04] they're watching his heartbreak they're watching his pain yet they are not moved

[00:10:16] and you have this father whose heart is broken for his son

[00:10:25] and I'm gonna give you a timeline of ages so according to Genesis 37 too

[00:10:33] Joseph was sold into slavery into Egypt he was 17 when he was 30 he was made the ruler

[00:10:42] by Pharaoh and that's according to Genesis 41 46 and then he was 39 when his brothers right his

[00:10:51] brothers came basically because there was a famine in the land so they came to Egypt to get the grain

[00:10:57] which was the vision that God gave Joseph to help sustain the land so um they basically are coming

[00:11:06] getting the blessing from the one that they betrayed they're getting a blessing from this one who was put

[00:11:16] in leadership and they hated the gift they hated who he was but the very thing they hated was the

[00:11:22] very thing they needed to survive in their future they wouldn't have been able to make it without

[00:11:27] him but he was 39 when they first came to Egypt and that is calculated based on Genesis 41 47 and 53

[00:11:39] and then 45 6 through 11 which is basically nine years the seven years of famine and then two years

[00:11:45] that they were I mean sorry uh the seven years of plenty and then the two years that started the

[00:11:52] famine so that's nine so you have 30 plus the nine when he came in rulership and then these

[00:11:58] nine years so he's 39 years old when they come the first time but then they end up coming back a second

[00:12:04] time and you really see the heart of Israel because now he has another baby boy Benjamin who he loves

[00:12:18] and he ain't letting Benjamin out of his sight nope no no sorry because I already lost I already had

[00:12:27] pain here and so I refuse to let go of this that I love but then it came to a point where Judah was

[00:12:37] like look dad we're gonna have to we need more grain I'll put up my own life on behalf of the child

[00:12:46] hold me accountable on behalf of the child but Joseph told him don't come back and basically in

[00:12:53] my face without bringing our youngest brother right and you're gonna have to read it because I'm skipping

[00:12:59] over a whole lot on purpose because I don't want the focus to be Joseph so you have this grieving

[00:13:09] daddy who thinks he lost his son who believes he lost his son who was lied to and said basically

[00:13:20] you lost your son even though they didn't say it out of their mouth he made an interpretation that they

[00:13:27] did not correct mm-hmm and it's like go with that lie okay well we'll go for that sure and so now

[00:13:36] this grieving daddy let's go of the baby boy Benjamin in hopes that all is gonna be well

[00:13:44] but this is where we start to get into who God is as El Shub and hopefully I'm saying that right

[00:13:55] the word Shub in the Hebrew actually means to turn back to return

[00:14:03] to bring it back to answer to draw and turning to make them return to make restitution

[00:14:13] to pay or it says pays back or pays us back in full restore and surely return

[00:14:24] and there's so many more definitions but those the ones I just grabbed out basically

[00:14:30] El Shub is the one who restores El Shub is the one who turns things around

[00:14:38] now you have this daddy who is broken his son is out of the home his son is gone

[00:14:47] from the age of 17 till about 41 or let's even say 40 so it's about 23 24 years he thinks his

[00:14:56] son is dead think about that he thinks his child is dead but God does not allow him

[00:15:12] to remain in that place of grief without settling his heart yes there was a work in a will being

[00:15:19] done on this side but the way that was done with the brothers and lion and stuff was not okay

[00:15:27] that was not right and Joseph was like I forgive you you know it was God's will that this be done

[00:15:35] so I could save many people alive and that is so true but what God was also doing in the midst

[00:15:44] of this blessing what God was also doing in the midst of this elevation what God was also doing

[00:15:50] over here in this area was answering the cry of a daddy's heart answering the cry of Israel

[00:16:00] that is saying I wish I had my son but I wish I knew I wish I was there I wish my son was alive

[00:16:10] and then finally the same ones the same ones that created the lie that created the mess

[00:16:26] that created the pain were the same ones who had to go back to him and say uh pops

[00:16:35] just fyi we lied we have been lying to you all this time your son is actually living

[00:16:52] now come on let's go over here and you could see your son y'all this hits me because it just shows

[00:17:06] how sweet how attentive how beautiful the Lord is that even in the midst of our pain

[00:17:20] even in the midst of our mess where things look like this is it this is dead it cannot live again

[00:17:28] at all I am done and God comes and say oh but I'm working something out though

[00:17:37] I see your heart I see what's taking place and I have a plan for you

[00:17:45] mm-hmm I'm not gonna leave you in this pain I know it hurts but I'm not gonna leave you here

[00:17:51] I am not only working things out for the good for your son but I'm working out things for your

[00:17:57] good as well Israel I see you I see how much you miss your son I see your heart posture I see

[00:18:06] how much you love I see how well you love I see the work that you are doing and it is not in vain

[00:18:15] I saw every tear that you cried and pain and anguish and in grief

[00:18:21] and I am working things out for you and so you guys my encouragement for you today is just remember

[00:18:35] whatever you are going through right now today in this moment you have El Shoup the God

[00:18:47] who restores the God who returns back the God who heals and makes new the God who sees your heart

[00:18:59] and sees the circumstances and works things out he is able he is willing and he loves us enough

[00:19:12] to do so let's pray God we thank you so much for who you are thank you for restoring us

[00:19:22] thank you for seeing our heart posture thank you Lord God for whoever is watching this

[00:19:28] that their hearts are open to receive whatever it is you desire to speak to them God I thank you

[00:19:35] Lord God for restoring their soul some are dry and they are weary and they are thirsty they are tired

[00:19:44] and I ask that you quench their thirstiness some are in so much pain or they're numb

[00:19:50] or they have given up and I ask Lord God that you meet that need as well that you give them

[00:19:58] new life bless them not to be weary and well doing help them to stand so that they can reap

[00:20:04] so that they do not faint and when they feel faint God I pray that your strength will be made

[00:20:11] perfect in their weakness that you will be their strong foundation their pillar of strength

[00:20:18] God I ask that hope would arise again I ask that love will arise again I ask that newness

[00:20:28] will flow again and transformation will take place those areas that seem lost those areas

[00:20:36] that seem dead those areas that seem unchangeable those areas that seem destitute I'm asking

[00:20:44] that you touch them and bring them not only back to life but just like you did with Israel and Joseph

[00:20:54] you now move the entire family into something flourishing with more than enough they need

[00:21:01] have to take their stuff and so I thank you Jesus that they will receive more than enough

[00:21:09] more than enough I thank you for being good to us I thank you for answering this request

[00:21:20] and I thank you for caring about Israel so much that you met his need in his heart

[00:21:31] we thank you we praise you for it in Jesus name amen amen all right family

[00:21:37] that is today's episode I look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks

[00:21:46] um I know I kind of feel like you know a little touchy in my heart um there's just a lot of
