[00:20:32] Soulful celebration

[00:20:34] Sure

[00:20:34] So we had been the Superbow

[00:20:36] Gospel celebration for 23 years

[00:20:39] And we noticed that

[00:20:42] A lot of times

[00:20:44] People

[00:20:45] Special players

[00:20:46] We had players that would never come

[00:20:48] Because they felt like

[00:20:50] People would judge them

[00:20:51] Because they weren't perfect

[00:20:52] And they say you know

[00:20:53] I'm not a perfect man

[00:20:55] You know people see me on video

[00:20:57] Cursing or

[00:20:58] They see me

[00:20:59] You know

[00:21:00] Wormonized in a little bit

[00:21:01] And I don't feel comfortable coming

[00:21:03] Because

[00:21:04] I feel as though people would judge me

[00:21:07] And the Gospel is for everybody

[00:21:09] Inspiration is for everybody

[00:21:12] That he who is without seeing cast the first stone

[00:21:16] And so when we

[00:21:17] I thought about the word soulful

[00:21:19] Gospel is soulful

[00:21:22] Soul music is soulful

[00:21:23] It's for our souls

[00:21:24] It's to cheer us up

[00:21:25] It's to make us better

[00:21:26] It's to inspire us

[00:21:28] It's to love on our spirit

[00:21:30] It's for the culture

[00:21:31] All that good stuff

[00:21:32] And so we decided

[00:21:34] To we wanted to expand our audience

[00:21:36] Not alienate

[00:21:37] Our gospel audience

[00:21:38] But to expand

[00:21:40] To you know people

[00:21:41] Who may not ever come

[00:21:42] To experience

[00:21:44] The wonderful

[00:21:46] The wonderful opportunity

[00:21:47] It is to

[00:21:48] Share love and faith

[00:21:49] And hope and inspiration

[00:21:51] Because you got a lot of players

[00:21:53] People

[00:21:53] It is a ministry

[00:21:55] To be a part of the less than one percent

[00:21:58] Of men that make it to the NFL

[00:22:00] That alone is a ministry

[00:22:06] To honor like Damar Hamlet

[00:22:09] Not only did we watch him

[00:22:11] What he went through on the field as a nation

[00:22:14] Not knowing if he was going to live or die

[00:22:18] As we did more research into him

[00:22:21] His family has gone through new beginnings

[00:22:23] This is not a secret

[00:22:24] He's okay with people knowing

[00:22:25] His father did some gel time

[00:22:28] And but his parents have stayed together

[00:22:30] Since they were 16 years old

[00:22:32] Powerful young black couple

[00:22:34] Mentoring he and his brother

[00:22:36] And so he said

[00:22:37] I don't want to just get the award myself

[00:22:39] I want my family to get the award

[00:22:41] Because we're new beginnings together

[00:22:43] As a unit, as a family

[00:22:45] My parents have been together

[00:22:46] Since they're 16 years old

[00:22:48] And I would not be here for one

[00:22:49] Not for them

[00:22:50] I would not have made it

[00:22:51] Had they not been praying for me

[00:22:53] When I was laying on that field

[00:22:55] Not knowing people

[00:22:56] Not knowing what I was going to live or die

[00:22:58] I'm excited because we have Marquis Bell this year

[00:23:01] You know and I think his

[00:23:03] Award is really for the culture

[00:23:04] He's the first HBCU player

[00:23:08] To ever play for the star for the Dallas Cowboys

[00:23:11] And so we're you know doing an HBC spotlight on him

[00:25:05] My father passed away a year and a half ago

[00:25:12] When you self-employ this heart

[00:25:15] And when he was transitioning

[00:25:18] Because he was my best friend

[00:25:19] My mother's been gone 20 years

[00:25:22] And I said to him he'd always helped me

[00:25:25] Through difficult moments in my life

[00:25:27] And he's always been my best friend

[00:25:29] And I said that I don't know what I want to do

[00:25:32] Super gospel anymore because

[00:25:35] It was me and him it was I think we did together

[00:25:38] The last 18 years is my mother died

[00:25:40] He was my co-producer

[00:25:43] And he held my hand so tight

[00:25:47] And he said I did not raise a weak woman

[00:25:51] And he said he was comical he said 24-dunee sound right

[00:25:55] You gotta make it to 25 and he said I won't be there

[00:25:59] But I will be there

[00:26:01] And so when I was outside the palm just today

[00:26:06] I'm sharp, this is so unprofessional

[00:26:09] Now you fine take your time

[00:26:10] I looked up at the sign

[00:26:13] And I literally saw his face smiling

[00:26:16] So bright

[00:26:18] And it was an opportunity to say

[00:26:19] Dad, we did it 25 years

[00:26:22] And so when you're in a situation like this

[00:26:28] You cannot make it if you don't have strong people in your corner

[00:26:32] Whether it's your father, whether it's your friends, whether it's your cousins

[00:26:35] It takes a village

[00:26:37] I'm just so grateful

[00:26:38] I've been surrounded by amazing parents

[00:26:41] Amazing friends

[00:26:42] Amazing people that I work with

[00:26:45] And I can tell you if it was just me by myself

[00:26:48] It would end in many years

[00:26:49] So God couldn't have done it by myself

[00:26:52] And I'm so grateful for all the people that have surrounded me with grace and love and kindness

[00:26:57] So like I said, this definitely isn't a meat ministry

[00:27:02] Because I couldn't have done it

[00:27:04] And so I'm just grateful

[00:27:05] For the people that got hit surrounding me with

[00:27:29] So I know what you mean

[00:27:39] Be able to be right at your left or your right

[00:27:41] You know tell you when you do something wrong

[00:27:43] That is very valuable

[00:27:46] But I do believe just like you already know

[00:27:48] He's looking down from heaven

[00:27:49] And he is super proud of you

[00:27:51] So you hold your head up

[00:27:52] And you keep stung

[00:27:53] Because you're doing some very powerful

[00:28:36] That we were going to do a culturally diverse show

[00:28:39] And started going after culture to diverse artists

[00:28:43] This is to be honest with you

[00:28:45] Other than Natalie Grant

[00:28:47] This is our first time

[00:28:49] Really opening up

[00:28:51] The show

[00:28:52] As far as different genres of music

[00:28:54] Different races

[00:28:55] And so we're excited to be on this journey

[00:31:16] You know may not listen to gospel music

[00:31:21] NFL choir that you put together

[00:31:37] Because in 2004

[00:31:39] Patelivell was our headlining

[00:31:40] And she looked out at the audience

[00:31:43] It's so many fine men up in here

[00:31:46] I've been none of them can sing

[00:31:48] You know patelivell right

[00:31:50] And so she said I've been none of them can sing

[00:31:52] And it was just a moment

[00:31:53] Guys we didn't know

[00:31:55] Those players that could sing

[00:31:57] Guys started running up and grabbing her mic

[00:31:59] And passing the mic and blowing

[00:32:01] And she was like my god

[00:32:03] They sent up here fine

[00:32:04] Is why I ain't can sing

[00:32:06] And so after that

[00:32:08] We thought you know we should do something

[00:32:10] We start letting guys do solos

[00:32:12] And finally in 2008

[00:32:14] We said we go order some choir robes

[00:32:16] And they were like we not wearing choir robes

[00:32:18] We started calling mommas and wives

[00:32:21] And they said okay

[00:32:22] And this is the interesting thing about 2008

[00:32:25] There was a gentleman the first African-American general manager

[00:32:28] Of a football team

[00:32:29] The NFL team is named Jerry Reese

[00:32:31] Christian gentleman from South Carolina

[00:32:34] Jerry found out about the players choir

[00:32:36] He made some of the New York Giants get in the choir

[00:32:38] And that was our first hit launching

[00:32:40] The players choir we had robes for them

[00:32:42] And the crazy part is you know the New York Giants won

[00:32:45] Right

[00:32:46] Yes

[00:32:47] A couple years later

[00:32:49] The New York Gi won again

[00:32:51] And literally we were sitting in the hotel room

[00:32:53] And then out and then half was our remember this

[00:32:56] And the TV that were jumping up and down

[00:33:00] The Giants had won the Super Bowl again

[00:33:02] Twice in what a year and a half or two years

[00:33:05] And he said what what what what what do you

[00:33:08] Attribute to you know this win

[00:33:10] So he said well many things hard work

[00:33:12] He said but I really do believe we go to Super Bowl

[00:33:14] Gospel and we get our blessing

[00:33:16] In the crazy part

[00:33:17] I know this is gonna sound weird

[00:33:19] But it's and it's ironic

[00:33:20] But it's true

[00:33:21] Most times when teams send their team

[00:33:24] When the team send the players from their team

[00:33:26] To Super Bowl Gospel

[00:33:28] They literally win the game

[00:33:29] I'm not playing it come and get blessed

[00:33:32] It started with Tony Dungie and Lovey

[00:33:34] We're playing years ago

[00:33:35] What was that 2003 maybe

[00:33:38] And Tony Dungie is a man of faith

[00:33:40] So he came and he brought the team

[00:33:42] And Lovey didn't

[00:33:43] And if you know Tony won the Super Bowl

[00:33:46] And I got a hold of Lovey's number

[00:33:47] I said I told you to come get your blessing

[00:33:49] But now y'all stated the hotel

[00:33:51] Why

[00:33:53] And that was like a running joke

[00:33:55] And so same thing when the Giants played after the

[00:33:58] The Patriots or whenever they whoever they beat that year

[00:34:01] We've invited both teams

[00:34:03] Both chaplains

[00:34:04] They didn't come

[00:34:05] I just got called the chaplain and I said

[00:34:07] We told y'all to do

[00:34:08] The blessing is over here but y'all don't want to listen

[00:34:11] So it's kind of like a running joke

[00:34:13] And I know I think we're gonna have a few players

[00:34:15] From

[00:34:16] Possibly from the game tomorrow night

[00:34:18] I don't know for sure

[00:34:20] Listen that's amazing

[00:34:22] Have you had opportunities to

[00:34:24] As you can have built these relationships over the years

[00:34:27] With some of the players and some of the coaches

[00:34:28] It came in just to be able to witness

[00:34:31] To maybe some of

[00:34:32] The ones who first time coming

[00:34:34] Didn't know what they want to expect

[00:34:36] Maybe don't have

[00:34:37] You know the relationship with God

[00:34:39] And maybe they thought

[00:34:40] Have some of them have reached out to you for like prayer

[00:34:42] Or just asking you advice from a spiritual aspect

[00:34:46] I

[00:34:47] Mostly can be touched with their mothers more so

[00:34:50] And of course the guys in the players choir

[00:34:52] I kept in touch with them for you know

[00:34:54] With the choir has been around almost 20 years now

[00:34:56] But

[00:34:57] Yeah some of the younger guys

[00:34:58] I used to keep in touch with their mothers

[00:35:01] And you know

[00:35:03] Be a relationship there

[00:35:05] Dunn for magna

[00:35:06] Magna have mother is

[00:35:07] I call her mom

[00:35:09] She's literally

[00:35:10] One of my closest friends

[00:35:11] And you know brine McKinney's mother and others

[00:35:14] And so I do keep in touch with the guys

[00:35:17] But I'm mostly in touch with their moms

[00:35:20] That's good

[00:35:21] Listen for all those people inspiring to be like you

[00:35:24] This is a huge production let's be very clear

[00:35:26] Can you maybe share a challenge

[00:35:28] If there have been any of just putting going

[00:35:31] A large production like this every year

[00:35:34] Um I think

[00:35:35] You know as a small business owner

[00:35:37] I think

[00:35:38] Challenges are to be expected at

[00:35:40] You know for any small business owner

[00:35:43] Um I think that

[00:35:44] If I had to say the biggest challenge

[00:35:47] I would say

[00:35:49] Just making sure we keep the lines of communication open

[00:35:52] I'm not perfect at it myself

[00:35:55] Sometimes I get overwhelmed

[00:35:56] So I guess my advice will be

[00:35:58] To just to be careful not to get overwhelmed

[00:36:00] Because we get overwhelmed

[00:36:02] And you don't communicate

[00:36:03] That's when things fall through the cracks

[00:36:05] Which I'm guilty of doing

[00:36:10] Can't make it to the event

[00:50:00] And when i picked a second job up

[00:50:02] The supervisor at my second job that i was working at

[00:50:05] He actually had a little radio station

[00:50:08] That he was starting and he was building up

[00:50:09] And he was looking for somebody that was

[00:50:12] Familiar with Christian hip hop

[00:50:13] There was DJs doing it

[00:50:15] So before i even say yes to him

[00:50:18] This is where the daughters was like

[00:50:20] Nah man you wasting your don't waste your time doing that

[00:50:23] Like nobody nobody's gonna invest in that

[00:50:25] Nobody's gonna advertise with that

[00:50:27] Nobody gonna listen to that music

[00:50:28] He's like yeah you got you got to little lacray

[00:50:30] And a few little artists but

[00:50:32] You know it's not enough music

[00:50:34] To go around to what the masses are going really like it

[00:50:36] So absolutely
