[00:01:00] and it's all for the King.

[00:01:02] We gonna make sure they done.

[00:01:04] Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, we gonna take it down.

[00:01:07] I like red letters, over trap, beast of fix is in, ooh.

[00:01:11] DJ Focus tell him turn you up, ooh.

[00:01:14] DJ Focus tell him turn you up, ooh.

[00:01:17] Yes, sir. You two back into the fix.

[00:01:20] Your source of fake infuse, hip hop, R&B and poetry.

[00:01:23] It's your boy DJ Focus checking in.

[00:01:25] Hey, it's your girl, Dice Campbell

[00:01:27] in the building checking in.

[00:01:29] Time to wake up.

[00:01:31] You already know fix is in on one again.

[00:01:33] Yep.

[00:01:34] Yeah.

[00:01:35] Yeah, shout out to everybody who enjoyed that Super Bowl game yesterday.

[00:01:40] Our brother Justin Adams is coming with that faith and sports report.

[00:01:44] So listen, we gonna, yeah, we gonna just keep it locked.

[00:01:47] You want to hear this faith and sports report?

[00:01:49] It's gonna be amazing.

[00:01:50] Yeah, they just hang tight.

[00:01:51] I know, I know everybody still probably, you know, creeping up over,

[00:01:54] just waking up, just getting up and just had a great time last night.

[00:01:57] But yeah, our faith and sports report is taking it to whole another level

[00:02:01] when you talk about everything we're doing with that report.

[00:02:04] So keep it locked for all of the Super Bowl updates

[00:02:07] and everything that went into it,

[00:02:09] all the fancy commercials and all that good stuff

[00:02:12] in the faith and sports report.

[00:02:14] That's gonna be amazing.

[00:02:15] But we thank y'all for waking up with us another blessed day.

[00:02:17] Listen, this is the day that the Lord has made.

[00:02:19] We will rejoice and be glad and itch.

[00:02:22] And come on and get up.

[00:02:24] I know y'all might, like I say, had you a great Super Bowl party last night.

[00:02:29] But shout out to everybody that still got to go to work today

[00:02:33] because we need y'all still to get up

[00:02:35] and we need y'all to show up and make sure you're still showing up

[00:02:38] and representing God to the best of y'all abilities.

[00:02:41] So come on, get up, be great.

[00:02:44] Of course y'all know our mission is to expose the culture to positive

[00:02:47] but relevant music that keeps Jesus Christ at the center of the message.

[00:02:50] Shout out to everybody just waking up this blessed, blessed Monday morning.

[00:02:55] Thank y'all for just rocking with us and tuning in.

[00:02:58] We know this is Lovers Week.

[00:03:00] Shout out to everybody getting ready for Valentine's Day this weekend

[00:03:04] and just, you know, enjoying their significant other spouse

[00:03:09] and just going ready to have a good time.

[00:03:11] Listen, this show all the way lit.

[00:03:12] Y'all know what y'all tuned in for.

[00:03:14] We back at it again.

[00:03:15] Dice another Monday.

[00:03:17] Let's hit it.

[00:03:18] Yeah, yeah.

[00:03:19] I think, you know, this real talk conversation today

[00:03:22] is going to be a little different.

[00:03:24] You know, I think we got to, you know, talk about these things

[00:03:26] when you talk about everything that goes into, you know,

[00:03:29] discipline in a relationship.

[00:03:31] So yeah, this kind of all going to be a little different today for the people.

[00:03:35] Yeah, it's going to be tough.

[00:03:37] You know what?

[00:03:38] People need to be disciplined, especially if you are in a relationship

[00:03:41] and I know discipline sounds like a hard word

[00:03:43] but it's just pretty much consistent and faithful, you know,

[00:03:46] being adamant about doing certain things, you know,

[00:03:50] when you should do certain things, you know,

[00:03:52] or when you should not do certain things.

[00:03:54] So, you know, this is a tough one because, you know what?

[00:03:56] You just want to be an individual a lot of times

[00:03:59] and do what you want to do.

[00:04:00] And it's different though when you get married.

[00:04:02] It is different.

[00:04:04] It changes.

[00:04:05] It's not just about you anymore.

[00:04:07] It's about the whole crew, you know, and it's about a team.

[00:04:10] So that team mindset has to, you know,

[00:04:12] be a little disciplined in areas to do what's best for the team.

[00:04:15] For the team.

[00:04:17] And you own the team.

[00:04:19] So shout out to everybody who think you own the opposite team.

[00:04:22] No, no, you guys are on the team together.

[00:04:24] Shout out to y'all.

[00:04:25] You're on the same team.

[00:04:26] Y'all win together, absolutely.

[00:04:27] Our spiritual detox features, listen, listen,

[00:04:30] I think he a pastor at heart.

[00:04:32] He's going to come over here and say he ain't a pastor

[00:04:34] but I've had some great conversations with him off air

[00:04:36] and he is very much sold out for God

[00:04:39] but he is a super talented actor, minor

[00:04:42] and he does a lot of things in his space

[00:04:45] but specifically in acting.

[00:04:47] He lets it be known that he is a believer

[00:04:50] and he even says he turns down roles

[00:04:53] if there's a little bit that's going to mess up

[00:04:56] what he feels like is his spiritual journey

[00:04:58] or his spiritual walk or, you know,

[00:05:00] put his spiritual belief in any type of question.

[00:05:03] So yeah, we're going to get the super talented

[00:05:06] Michael J. Patterson on with us today

[00:05:08] to talk about everything dope he got going on.

[00:05:10] He's working on a lot of specials.

[00:05:12] He got some exclusive movies on Netflix coming out

[00:05:16] real soon to as well.

[00:05:18] So yeah, keep it locked for that exclusive spirit of detox.

[00:05:21] Y'all know Dice got that news in 90

[00:05:24] and come on out.

[00:05:25] Y'all know what it is.

[00:05:26] It's Monday I have that lyrics for the mind

[00:05:28] where, you know, I talk about everything

[00:05:30] when you talk about, you know,

[00:05:32] certain songs break the meaning of them down

[00:05:34] and break down some of the mental health themes

[00:05:36] in the lyrics to help you guys get better

[00:05:39] and continue to less address the stigma of mental health.

[00:05:43] So yeah, keep it locked for that.

[00:05:45] And of course we have to report the breaking news

[00:05:48] that came in late yesterday afternoon.

[00:05:51] Unfortunately, listen prayers up to Pastor Joe Olstein

[00:05:55] as he responded to a woman coming in

[00:05:58] and firing during the service yesterday.

[00:06:03] Joe Olstein, he released a statement after a woman

[00:06:06] in the trench coat open fire with a gun inside of his mega church.

[00:06:10] The shooting at the Lakewood church in Houston

[00:06:13] took place shortly before the 2 p.m. Spanish service

[00:06:17] was set to begin.

[00:06:19] Now two off-duty officers were working security.

[00:06:22] They actually confronted and killed

[00:06:24] the unidentified suspect.

[00:06:27] Police said that two people were shot

[00:06:31] and injured as well, including a five year old boy

[00:06:34] who was entered the church actually with the woman

[00:06:37] and the young boy was taken to the hospital

[00:06:40] and is currently in critical condition.

[00:06:44] Again, Joe Olstein released a statement saying

[00:06:47] our community is devastated in today's event

[00:06:50] and grateful for the swift actions

[00:06:52] by the law enforcement who were on the site.

[00:06:57] He went on to say,

[00:07:00] in the face of such darkness,

[00:07:03] we must hold on to our faith and remember evil will not prevail.

[00:07:06] God will guide us through the darkness of times.

[00:07:09] Together, we will rise above this tragedy

[00:07:12] and stand firm in our commitment to love

[00:07:15] and support one another.

[00:07:17] In times like this, our faith is tested

[00:07:20] but it is also strengthened.

[00:07:22] We don't always understand why things happen like this

[00:07:25] but we know that God is in control.

[00:07:28] Please join me and continue prayer and healing

[00:07:31] and hope for peace.

[00:07:33] It's signed by Joe Olstein.

[00:07:36] This is a statement official statement he put on his

[00:07:39] all his social media platforms to as well

[00:07:41] so you can go to Joe Olstein's social media platforms

[00:07:44] to read that statement I just read

[00:07:46] but we definitely are praying for everybody

[00:07:50] that was impacted by this situation.

[00:07:56] This is just something that you would think you're going to

[00:07:59] a safe haven in your church just to praise and worship

[00:08:02] and you never know when things like this are going to happen.

[00:08:05] So yeah, we're definitely praying for everybody

[00:08:08] that it was at this live taping yesterday

[00:08:11] that was in the church, definitely everybody who's injured

[00:08:14] and we'll have more details on this coming up

[00:08:17] as the story continues to unfold.

[00:10:05] but it's time to get on up.

[00:10:07] Today is actually National Football Hangover Day.

[00:10:11] Turns out each year on the day after the big game

[00:10:15] okay National Hangover Day offers you know some comfort

[00:10:18] to people but since 1969 fans across the world

[00:10:22] have participated in this event in America.

[00:10:25] However, the next day it's estimated that

[00:10:28] over 14 million people call in to work sick.

[00:10:32] You said 14 million.

[00:10:34] I said 14 million.

[00:10:35] One phone.

[00:10:45] who are participating in yeah National Football Hangover Day.

[00:10:53] I really would not do it I just wouldn't do it

[00:10:55] but if you want to go ahead.

[00:10:56] If you know you got a hangover because you drank too much

[00:10:59] or you got a pounding headache

[00:11:01] or you just stayed up too late

[00:11:03] or you just distraught that your team lost

[00:11:05] we get it it is National Hangover Day

[00:11:09] from football.

[00:11:10] It's wild but they did say over 14 million people have symptoms

[00:11:14] ranging from headache, nausea, fatigue

[00:11:17] and actually being really thirsty.

[00:11:20] Well it's no brainer they thirsty just you know dehydrating

[00:11:24] so yeah you got definitely got to get a lot of liquids in you

[00:11:27] fluids so yeah.

[00:11:31] or eat a raw egg or tomato juice.

[00:11:34] Yeah so they said this helps you get over this

[00:11:37] you know sluggish hangoverish thing you got.

[00:12:02] two or three of the eggs in the thing and just go for them down.

[00:12:04] Yeah and ESPN started this so it was submitted by some ESPN

[00:12:08] hosts and some sports personalities January 2019

[00:12:12] and it was just a way to give the fans something to celebrate

[00:12:15] you know because yeah this many people after the big game

[00:12:19] they just call out.

[00:14:09] you know I'm in Ohio so I was like oh he

[00:14:13] been through my state a little bit I know

[00:14:23] education so shout out to you for that I

[00:14:25] actually have multiple cousins that

[00:14:27] graduated from Central State too as well

[00:14:29] so yeah I love that school man I missed it

[00:14:31] it doesn't make the same anymore they took

[00:14:34] down the breezewood but other than that

[00:14:36] you know that's I'm glad to go from

[00:14:39] DC to Ohio to get my education at the

[00:14:41] HBCU and then I went to University

[00:14:43] in Maryland College Park back here in

[00:14:45] Maryland but man there's a lot of

[00:14:47] memories up there man a lot of

[00:14:49] coming to age tales up there yeah yeah

[00:14:52] I've been on the campus so I know that's

[00:14:55] why and another life we're gonna talk

[00:14:58] about that today in another life though

[00:15:00] a lot of fun yeah a lot of fun shout out

[00:15:02] to everybody who had a little fun for

[00:15:04] they rededicated themselves back

[00:15:06] so come on talk about it first man

[00:15:09] before we talk about everything dope you

[00:15:11] got talking about man first catch the

[00:15:13] people up on man a little bit of your

[00:15:15] fake journey man and how do you kind of

[00:15:17] get to know people for Christ oh yes so

[00:15:19] man okay so I gave my life to Christ at

[00:15:21] 13 years old I went to a church in the

[00:15:24] Hollywood Maryland actually of all names

[00:15:26] outside of College Park and I remember

[00:15:29] Felicia and this guy and Felicia

[00:15:31] named Filipino American man and I went

[00:15:33] to Bible College I'm not college Bible

[00:15:35] school for a couple of weeks my mother

[00:15:38] made me go to it because I got in

[00:15:40] trouble a lot I actually got arrested

[00:15:42] for stealing a bicycle with one of

[00:15:45] my friends from New York of all places

[00:15:47] and so was that your right home was at

[00:15:49] your right home though man it was just

[00:15:51] something it was a dare it was like hey go

[00:15:53] grab that man and did that and so what

[00:15:56] had happened was I you know cop came

[00:15:58] to my house but my mom planned it she

[00:16:00] knew there was not my bike so my mom

[00:16:02] planned it and scared me but they put

[00:16:04] the cuffs on and everything man and

[00:16:06] took me down there and I'm scared

[00:16:08] thinking I'm gonna do life or

[00:16:10] something like that because you're a

[00:16:12] child right and you know that went

[00:16:14] up my mom said you go to Bible school

[00:16:16] went to Bible school loved it and then

[00:16:19] all of a sudden they asked for you to

[00:16:21] come to Christ Jesus and to be baptized

[00:16:23] and the Holy Spirit and I was like

[00:16:25] well something's tugging on me I need

[00:16:27] to do this I'm scared I'm seeing all

[00:16:29] these people all these kids looking at

[00:16:31] me but I stepped out there and walked

[00:16:33] up and my life's been changed ever

[00:16:35] since man I've been going strong

[00:16:37] for years decades just up reaching the

[00:16:40] gospel through my acting when I'm

[00:16:43] on social media when I'm anywhere I'm

[00:16:46] at I'm unashamed 116 man as they say

[00:16:49] down in the south that's what I'm about

[00:16:52] him I'm about his name I'm out making him

[00:16:54] famous one of my friends close friend

[00:16:57] of mine Cameron Arnett I don't know if

[00:16:59] you know him he's a big-time actor in

[00:17:01] a fake based film and he has a thing

[00:17:03] called God over career Christ of

[00:17:05] career actually and I'm really about

[00:17:07] that even though I work in some

[00:17:09] secular films and stuff like that but

[00:17:11] that because the ministry behind the

[00:17:13] scenes instead of being in front of

[00:17:15] the camera you have it behind the

[00:17:17] scenes you go out there and you know

[00:17:19] you have to make sure that you're out

[00:17:21] there with the centers preaching the

[00:17:23] gospel living the gospel so that they

[00:17:25] see who he has transformed you to be

[00:17:27] and a lot of people have come to

[00:17:29] Christ from just you know just me

[00:17:31] just being who I am and I you know

[00:17:33] it's just amazing it's an amazing

[00:17:35] walk and I'm still learning and I'm

[00:17:37] still walking that yeah that's in

[00:17:39] that show right now I don't know what else

[00:17:41] to say but that was good thanks

[00:17:43] for sharing that have you done any

[00:17:45] seminary or you know or

[00:17:47] have you been ordained as any

[00:17:49] minister elder deacon or anything

[00:17:51] not at all man

[00:17:53] I'm I guess I'm doing it like Paul

[00:17:55] man well no Paul was educated but the

[00:17:57] other apostles like you know where

[00:17:59] they were just doing what they're

[00:18:01] supposed to be doing you know and in

[00:18:03] Christ that's what I'm doing that's

[00:18:05] I can I thought about it a couple of

[00:18:07] times I'm thinking about it but right

[00:18:09] now this acting career is taking up a

[00:18:11] lot of my time and I feel that God

[00:18:13] is still having me in this area for

[00:18:15] right now to do things and

[00:18:17] it's been a wonderful journey so far

[00:18:19] thanks for sharing that so

[00:18:21] you know you're in a you're in a field

[00:18:23] that a lot of people will look at

[00:18:25] as you know wanting to be like

[00:18:27] you say the best actor that can

[00:18:29] be want to be popular want to be

[00:18:31] rich want to be famous

[00:18:33] can you just talk about a little bit

[00:18:35] about that of just navigating through

[00:18:37] you know Hollywood or just being

[00:18:39] the actor and where's the balance

[00:18:41] for you because because I listen I heard

[00:18:43] some powerful things that you just shared

[00:18:45] in your faith journey you know where's

[00:18:47] that balance between walking in

[00:18:49] purpose compared to trying to be popular

[00:18:51] and how does that work with everything

[00:18:53] you do in acting oh man okay so you

[00:18:55] know social media is like

[00:18:57] it's a terrible tool and at the same

[00:18:59] time it's a great tool but when it

[00:19:01] comes up when I say that it's a terrible

[00:19:03] tool you can actually get caught up

[00:19:05] and the situation where

[00:19:07] you don't know that you're idolizing yourself because

[00:19:09] you're trying to work so hard with the grind

[00:19:11] and trying to perfect everything and do things for yourself

[00:19:13] to make yourself look good and get out there

[00:19:15] that you're putting so much time into that

[00:19:17] and you just sit back and you're like man hold up

[00:19:19] I'm putting myself in

[00:19:21] you know I'm gonna put myself ahead

[00:19:23] too too fast and I'm thinking about what I can

[00:19:25] do for this career and you have to

[00:19:27] step back and that's what God did for me actually

[00:19:29] like a couple months ago I'm you know

[00:19:31] I'm up in the grind and I'm like

[00:19:33] okay I need to do the next thing I need to do

[00:19:35] that next thing and all of a sudden I'm like

[00:19:37] yo Mike you need to step back and you need

[00:19:39] to give more time to

[00:19:41] Christ because right now you're just thinking about

[00:19:43] you right now and so

[00:19:45] I was like whoa

[00:19:47] and then God literally allowed for me to be

[00:19:49] in a place where things

[00:19:51] weren't happening for me as fast as I wanted

[00:19:53] them to so that I can give my time

[00:19:55] more than him um you know

[00:19:57] when you're trying to do the grind and you're trying to get to the

[00:19:59] next it's like it's so quick

[00:20:01] but then when it's not quick

[00:20:03] and then God's like I need your time okay I'm

[00:20:05] gonna go ahead and take everything away from you

[00:20:07] so that you can give me your time because I love you

[00:20:09] I'm first you know you're starting

[00:20:11] to put these this idle

[00:20:13] type situation in front of your face and you need to

[00:20:15] understand where you're at even if it's

[00:20:17] faith-based film even if you know

[00:20:19] you're being successful it's a great thing

[00:20:21] but at the same time God demands his

[00:20:23] time that's who we recreated we recreated the worship

[00:20:25] and we recreated to be

[00:20:27] about him and to make

[00:20:29] him famous first not none of this other stuff that

[00:20:31] we have um and so

[00:20:33] you know I'm in that journey right now actually

[00:20:35] um things are going good I still have a lot

[00:20:37] of filming and all of that but it's like

[00:20:39] okay Mike um

[00:20:41] let's

[00:20:43] let's get into the word let's fast against

[00:20:45] a lot of things um

[00:20:47] and uh and you know the supplication to

[00:20:49] fasting and and and preaching and teaching

[00:20:51] um as best as you

[00:20:53] can you know and um and allowing

[00:20:55] folks in the body of Christ to

[00:20:57] to uh let you know hey Mike these are the things

[00:20:59] that I think you should be working on because

[00:21:01] I'm seeing some things here and there and I'm

[00:21:03] like okay and you know you got it you got to let

[00:21:05] that pride go you got to let you got to be

[00:21:07] humbled um and

[00:21:09] you know it's it's for the it's for the best

[00:21:11] for you it's it's to to to allow you

[00:21:13] to see things you know something we

[00:21:15] all need each other we're the body of Christ we all

[00:21:17] need each other um you can't do it on your

[00:21:19] own um we are our brothers keeper so

[00:21:21] I just truly appreciate the

[00:21:23] the moments that I'm having right now concerning

[00:21:25] that so that's my walk right now um

[00:21:27] what can I say like when I'm in the

[00:21:29] secular um um

[00:21:31] uh field it can be

[00:21:33] tempting um

[00:21:35] it can come on we talk about it

[00:21:37] let's listen a little bit of what you say

[00:21:39] tempting are so the first thing I gotta ask

[00:21:41] are you married I'm divorced

[00:21:43] unfortunately um uh it you'd be

[00:21:45] divorced for about like 12 years now um

[00:21:47] okay but the

[00:21:49] temptation for that of course the beautiful

[00:21:51] women yeah yeah come on because I'm about to say

[00:21:53] I've seen a couple of your films yeah this ain't

[00:21:55] no yeah I listen

[00:21:57] yeah yeah

[00:21:59] yeah these films out there yeah there's some beautiful women that

[00:22:03] I know that are friends of mine and um

[00:22:05] and I've had my my advances and stuff like

[00:22:07] that but um

[00:22:09] it's like I know what I want and who

[00:22:11] I am and what I need

[00:22:13] um and I always ask God give me what

[00:22:15] I need and so I've been through

[00:22:17] that journey for a while and when you

[00:22:19] end the the the secular

[00:22:21] film industry man it's just like whoa these

[00:22:23] women are fine bro and and and it's uh and

[00:22:27] it's easy to slip up so

[00:22:29] you have to be in a word man

[00:22:31] you have to pray you have to pray daily you have to

[00:22:33] pray while you're on set you have to

[00:22:35] ask for permission to say hey can I pray

[00:22:37] before we start up you know and I do that

[00:22:39] I try my best to say can I

[00:22:41] say say a prayer or I'll go out there and

[00:22:43] do my prayer if no one wants to do it

[00:22:45] so that I can make sure that I'm

[00:22:47] representing Christ because

[00:22:49] you can actually start being

[00:22:51] like those people you are the company that you keep

[00:22:53] so you have to yeah it's it's

[00:22:55] it's not easy man um

[00:22:57] uh but

[00:22:59] at the same time it's a it's a

[00:23:01] joyous occasion when you're seeing people

[00:23:03] come up to you and say hey man what about this

[00:23:05] Christ thing um I see how

[00:23:07] you walk and stuff like that I'm not about that

[00:23:09] life right now but you know here and there

[00:23:11] blah blah blah and you're like okay you

[00:23:13] just plant the seed and you say okay you pray

[00:23:15] for them and you keep it moving

[00:23:17] um and I've seen

[00:23:19] I've seen a complete 180

[00:23:21] and a couple of people already and it's

[00:23:23] beautiful and um

[00:23:25] I just keep praying and believing that

[00:23:27] you know that people will get out of the world

[00:23:29] and come to Christ because

[00:23:31] you know we're in the last days and as you can tell this

[00:23:33] crazy stuff that's going on right now especially in

[00:23:35] the in the in the movie industry there

[00:23:37] everything is

[00:23:39] everything's getting worse

[00:23:41] when it comes to movies if you think about

[00:23:43] when it comes to the subject matter um

[00:23:45] it's always about sex

[00:23:47] it's always about um uh sex

[00:23:49] it's

[00:23:51] hey more sex

[00:23:53] then there's some more you know about crime thrillers

[00:23:55] you know especially in African American

[00:23:57] community we're so engrossed

[00:23:59] in crime thrillers for

[00:24:01] some reason and the sex has to

[00:24:03] be in it um the to beville

[00:24:05] you know to be like for instance you know

[00:24:07] you watch those movies and you just like everything

[00:24:09] African-american and then there is

[00:24:11] 80% crime thriller

[00:24:13] sex like literally and it's

[00:24:15] it's something that I want to change

[00:24:17] um as as I progress through as an actor

[00:24:19] to say that you don't have to do those things

[00:24:21] and then you can have crime thrillers

[00:24:23] you can have this and that you can have

[00:24:25] these types of situations but you don't have to

[00:24:27] have the sex you don't have to have

[00:24:29] uh the stereotypical things that are

[00:24:31] that we are creating uh as

[00:24:33] human beings in movies there's there's a

[00:24:35] whole lot more to the to story tell

[00:24:37] than just those uh subject matters

[00:24:39] there's a whole lot more

[00:24:41] I agree

[00:24:43] so you know I'm a guy that likes

[00:24:45] sci-fi fantasy believe it or not

[00:24:47] that's um something that I'm pretty good at

[00:24:49] and uh you know and I love

[00:24:51] faith based film but at the same time

[00:24:53] when it comes to faith based film we gotta get out of the corny

[00:24:55] uh faith based films

[00:24:57] you know we gotta get out of the box

[00:24:59] we gotta talk about little world situations man

[00:25:01] and world world issues and um

[00:25:03] I've done some some corny films I'm just

[00:25:05] you know anyone that's listening that's my director

[00:25:07] I'm just keeping it real because um

[00:25:09] we need to really be

[00:25:11] uh uh bold

[00:25:13] and courageous when it comes

[00:25:15] to filmmaking uh preaching

[00:25:17] Christ uh you know it

[00:25:19] it has it has doesn't have to be family friendly

[00:25:21] there's things that's children some

[00:25:23] children should not be able to see in

[00:25:25] faith and faith based film it should be able to

[00:25:27] adults and then we go back and then we

[00:25:29] we we talk to our kids about it

[00:25:31] and and allow them to understand and know

[00:25:33] that these are the things that are happening um but

[00:25:35] it's just time to it's time

[00:25:37] to uh you know iron sharpens iron

[00:25:39] it's time to really be really truly bold

[00:25:41] with um with faith based

[00:25:43] filming um and I'm here for it

[00:25:45] and I've always been about that life as well

[00:25:47] so you've been doing an amazing job

[00:25:49] of it listen uh Michael J

[00:25:51] Patterson is on with us we gotta go to

[00:25:53] a break don't touch that dial we're coming back from

[00:25:55] more you see preaching preachers listen we

[00:25:57] go we go talk a little bit more with Michael J

[00:25:59] Patterson in a minute we gotta go to a break

[00:26:01] keep it locked you tune into the fix you know the fix

[00:26:03] is in I'm Justin Adams and this is your

[00:26:05] to fix faith and sports report Super Bowl

[00:26:08] 58 was just the second time that we saw

[00:26:11] the big game go into overtime and guess what

[00:26:14] we have a new dynasty

[00:26:16] in the shotgun the homes four man front

[00:26:19] receive emotion low snap he runs and he

[00:26:21] throws caught touch down it's caught

[00:26:23] hard to cut the ball the chiefs of

[00:26:25] the chiefs of the

[00:26:27] the entire band justies

[00:26:29] the entire band justies

[00:26:31] the entire band justies chasing the homes in the end zone

[00:26:35] their third Super Bowl in five years

[00:26:39] the chiefs are back to back

[00:26:42] Super Bowl champions

[00:26:44] it is a dynasty

[00:26:47] thanks to Kevin Harlan and Westwood won

[00:26:49] as the Kansas City Chiefs came back

[00:26:51] to beat the San Francisco 49ers 25 to 22

[00:26:54] in overtime it is the chiefs

[00:26:57] third Super Bowl title in five years

[00:26:59] in their second in a row as they become the first

[00:27:01] team in 19 years

[00:27:03] to win back to back titles

[00:27:05] Patrick Holmes was a Super Bowl MVP

[00:27:07] throwing for 333 yards

[00:27:09] two touchdowns in an interception

[00:27:11] he also ran for 66 yards

[00:27:13] in the wind and talked about getting that

[00:27:15] gutsy win in Las Vegas

[00:27:17] it was a defense just keeping this in there

[00:27:19] and then the offense making plays when it

[00:27:21] counted and then of course Harrison

[00:27:23] Bucker hitting from about 70

[00:27:25] so it's um it was a microcosm over a whole season

[00:27:27] I'm just proud of the guys that kept believing

[00:27:29] um and I'm proud of the coaches

[00:27:31] for calling up those plays

[00:27:33] got us some touchdowns there at the end

[00:27:35] so what's next for the chiefs? Well Kansas City

[00:27:37] will have a parade on Wednesday

[00:27:39] then the NFL draft gets underway

[00:27:41] in 87 days by the way

[00:27:43] the Chicago Bears have the first

[00:27:45] pick in the 2024 draft

[00:27:47] alright before we go

[00:27:49] you always know we gotta talk about our scripture

[00:27:51] versus of the day and this is a great one

[00:27:53] it comes from Psalms 93

[00:27:55] versus 1 and 2 and it says this

[00:27:57] the Lord reigns

[00:27:59] he is clothed with majesty and splendor

[00:28:01] the Lord has clothed and encircled

[00:28:03] himself with strength

[00:28:05] the world is firmly established

[00:28:07] it cannot be moved

[00:28:09] your throne is established

[00:28:11] from of old you are

[00:28:13] from everlasting again

[00:28:15] that's Psalms 93 verse 1

[00:28:17] and 2 I'm Justin Adams

[00:28:19] this has been your The Fix Faith at Sports Report

[00:28:21] now back to DJ Folk as a dice gamble

[00:28:23] as The Fix is it

[00:28:53] where did the acting come into play

[00:28:55] when you first initially

[00:28:57] was this in college

[00:28:59] did you always kind of inspire to be this

[00:29:01] growing up?

[00:29:23] anything that's

[00:29:25] dramatic I did a lot of that

[00:29:27] stage combat as well because

[00:29:29] I do martial arts and stuff like that

[00:29:31] I wanted to combine all those things together

[00:29:33] let me find out

[00:29:35] it's a film of you and Michael Jawaik going at it

[00:29:37] let me just find out

[00:29:39] behind closed doors

[00:29:41] you know what Mike

[00:29:43] Mike Burke Mike let's go

[00:29:45] man Mike will punish me man

[00:29:47] he will punish me

[00:29:49] shout out to Michael Jawaik though

[00:29:51] he's a guy that I really looked up to as well

[00:29:53] but yeah

[00:29:55] so I did a lot of theater at 12

[00:29:57] and throughout my teenage years college years

[00:29:59] and even in my 20s

[00:30:01] I tried to go to the Hollywood way

[00:30:03] it felt miserably God was like it's not time for you

[00:30:05] to do such and such so you know I went back

[00:30:07] to you know school got my

[00:30:09] certifications in IT I'm an IT engineer

[00:30:11] by trade did that had kids

[00:30:13] you know stuff like that had to take care

[00:30:15] of the kids they got older than God

[00:30:17] was like hey I want you to start doing it at 33

[00:30:19] and I'm like what you know I'm thinking I'm too old

[00:30:21] and you know in the

[00:30:23] 2010-15

[00:30:25] you're thinking like okay that's over

[00:30:27] now I need to just go ahead and concentrate on

[00:30:29] providing for family and doing things other things

[00:30:31] but God was like no go ahead and try this out

[00:30:33] so I started doing short films

[00:30:35] and I did a little here and there

[00:30:37] big films like Hollywood films

[00:30:39] as extra you know Hunger Games

[00:30:41] I did actually Seven Day with that one

[00:30:43] and I had an actual role

[00:30:45] and scene in there but they put me on

[00:30:47] the edit floor so they gave me a credit

[00:30:49] as an extra on that and that's

[00:30:51] where my career just started blossoming

[00:30:53] because I started networking because network network

[00:30:55] network is what you have to do as an actor

[00:30:57] and ever since then I did short

[00:30:59] films major feature films

[00:31:01] and in these and then just it

[00:31:03] just kept getting bigger and bigger and I just

[00:31:05] kept letting rolls and the thing that I

[00:31:07] liked about theater is that it helped

[00:31:09] me become an actor where I'm able to stretch my muscles

[00:31:11] anytime type of way I want I can go

[00:31:13] from comedy action

[00:31:15] martial arts sci-fi fantasy drama

[00:31:17] emotional drama

[00:31:19] family films

[00:31:21] and faith based films

[00:31:23] all across the board I'm able to do those things

[00:31:25] and I'm not bragging it's just that that's what

[00:31:27] the training had gave given me as an

[00:31:29] an inviator as well as

[00:31:31] going to school and class

[00:31:33] for our film and TV as well as voiceover

[00:31:35] so it's just a lot of training

[00:31:37] a lot of networking a lot of belief in

[00:31:39] Christ and your soul in the Holy Spirit

[00:31:41] listening to the Holy Spirit when he says

[00:31:43] move there have been many times

[00:31:45] that I've moved when the Holy Spirit said don't move

[00:31:47] and I've been in films where I'm like I'm regretting

[00:31:49] this man like why am I doing this film

[00:31:51] and it's just I'm just keeping it real

[00:31:53] and it helped me with

[00:31:55] my career but at the same time there's that

[00:31:57] fork and you're like are you going to go this way

[00:31:59] you're going to go that way so the ones that I

[00:32:01] didn't obey the Holy Spirit to go

[00:32:03] I could have been a guy that made a lot of

[00:32:05] money and do a lot of different things

[00:32:07] but I was like no God not my will your will

[00:32:09] so I went here and

[00:32:11] I just kept you know he tries

[00:32:13] to do this to me sometimes you know like

[00:32:15] and that's just the life of

[00:32:17] an actor because the thing is you want to be

[00:32:19] you want to remain relevant you want

[00:32:21] to work you know I'm working

[00:32:23] full-time as an actor so there's

[00:32:25] that there's not a lot of faith based

[00:32:27] film for African Americans

[00:32:29] still just

[00:32:31] to keep it real there isn't and then

[00:32:33] the fight faith based films that are for

[00:32:35] African Americans they pay low

[00:32:37] or they pay nothing and there's a

[00:32:39] lot of that too

[00:32:41] so you're dealing with that dilemma

[00:32:43] then when you're dealing with the

[00:32:45] secular dilemma in secular

[00:32:47] filming they're like I want you to do such a

[00:32:49] such and you're like no I'm not doing that

[00:32:51] one thing I will not do in film is sleep

[00:32:53] with women in

[00:32:55] film I'm not going to do that and I'm not

[00:32:57] trying to be you know Denzel Washington

[00:32:59] when he says that but I'm just being

[00:33:01] me I'm just being something I will

[00:33:03] not do

[00:33:05] there can be romance and stuff like that

[00:33:07] just like when after that

[00:33:09] it's a wrap you know

[00:33:11] that's not for somebody to be seeing because

[00:33:13] you can help with their lust issues

[00:33:15] or at the same time you have kids that are

[00:33:17] watching movies 24-7 that see you

[00:33:19] doing that stuff and you're saying you're a man of God

[00:33:21] but then you're doing something on film

[00:33:23] that's totally opposite contrary

[00:33:25] so it's it's a hard

[00:33:27] really listen hold on one second

[00:33:29] I gotta stop you for a second

[00:33:31] thank you for sharing that so where's the

[00:33:33] balance at because because we have

[00:33:35] a conversation all the time

[00:33:37] show when you talk about the balance between

[00:33:39] you know

[00:33:41] being able to be a believer in these

[00:33:43] spaces being able to act in these

[00:33:45] roles to your point you say

[00:33:47] certain roles you won't take because

[00:33:49] you don't want to not only cause

[00:33:51] yourself to stumble but your brother to

[00:33:53] stumble so where's the balance

[00:33:55] that we ask this question all the time

[00:33:57] where's the balance between accountability

[00:33:59] and judgment what's your perspective

[00:34:01] on accountability and judgment

[00:34:03] how does that look to you that's that's a hard question

[00:34:05] because the thing is is that when you

[00:34:07] you know that you know that you know when

[00:34:09] you read the script

[00:34:11] it's like you should say no

[00:34:13] at the point where you see all of this crazy

[00:34:15] stuff going on in a script you're like no I can't do

[00:34:17] that money's

[00:34:19] coming at you like 10 grand

[00:34:21] episode or something crazy like that

[00:34:23] you know I've had that come to me and

[00:34:25] it's just like I can't do this

[00:34:27] I want to do this my body my flesh

[00:34:29] is like yo what are you doing right

[00:34:31] but the Holy Spirit

[00:34:33] me wanting to obey God

[00:34:35] as best as I can man I'm not

[00:34:37] all you know we

[00:34:39] all stumble we all fall short of the mark

[00:34:41] but we can't use as an excuse we have to

[00:34:43] really live that so

[00:34:45] when those things come at me I'm just like

[00:34:47] I can't do that I can't do it

[00:34:49] I'm going to look at something else and

[00:34:51] you'll go through the motions of depression

[00:34:53] and and anxiety

[00:34:55] and like okay I need to just hang this up

[00:34:57] or whatever but the thing is is that you just

[00:34:59] there's certain things you just can't do

[00:35:01] and that's what it is

[00:35:03] you have to know how to say no man

[00:35:05] you just have to know how to say no

[00:35:07] and stay at it

[00:35:09] and people will respect you man because when they see

[00:35:11] that you're doing those type of things they'll say okay

[00:35:13] well we're going to put them in this block of films

[00:35:15] you know so that's been

[00:35:17] kind of like my career as it is

[00:35:19] because there's a lot of people that have come to me

[00:35:21] like

[00:35:23] hey man I know this is something that you don't want to do

[00:35:25] but man we really like what you're doing as an actor

[00:35:27] and you're really good for this part

[00:35:29] and that's the enemy

[00:35:31] like you know we battle against

[00:35:33] you know we don't battle against flesh and blood

[00:35:35] but principalities in real and high places

[00:35:37] so they use your friends, they use your directors

[00:35:39] you work with, they use the word of mouth

[00:35:41] and all of that and you're like oh that sounds great

[00:35:43] and then you get into the talks with people

[00:35:45] and then you hear what they want to do

[00:35:47] and what's their mission statement

[00:35:49] and you're like okay this is great

[00:35:51] and then you walk about it and they're like no

[00:35:53] no no you know and you have to

[00:35:55] you have to maintain because God

[00:35:57] is in control of everything

[00:35:59] if you feel like you're not doing

[00:36:01] as much as you were doing before

[00:36:03] God has a way to

[00:36:05] change it all for you to be able to work

[00:36:07] if he does

[00:36:09] you can't limit God

[00:36:11] you can't limit him so that's my faith

[00:36:13] it's believing that I know that God can't be limited

[00:36:15] and I know that I can still do this thing

[00:36:17] and not compromise

[00:36:19] you know and

[00:36:21] that's the best way

[00:36:23] that I can explain or answer your question

[00:36:25] no that was good

[00:36:27] thanks for answering it

[00:36:29] come on before we get you out of here man

[00:36:31] talk about what you're working on now

[00:36:33] what current films are you working on

[00:36:35] or ones that are getting ready to release

[00:36:37] that you've already done completed

[00:36:39] okay so I would say for Faithbase

[00:36:41] films that have already been completed

[00:36:43] I did a film called Fabled

[00:36:45] and it's on 2B right now actually

[00:36:47] and it's on Amazon

[00:36:49] it's basically a sci-fi fantasy

[00:36:51] film where I play as an inquisitor

[00:36:53] Walt Whistle who's 130 years old

[00:36:55] and is trying to fight against

[00:36:57] good, he's in the fight against good and evil

[00:36:59] and I lead in that film

[00:37:01] and it's something

[00:37:03] that was challenging it's very

[00:37:05] dialogue heavy and I like that

[00:37:07] from a theatrical background so

[00:37:09] that's something I think that people should look at especially the kids that are age

[00:37:11] 12 and up

[00:37:13] just to see how cool it is

[00:37:15] to see that sci-fi and fantasy can actually

[00:37:17] intermingle with Faithbase film

[00:37:19] there is another movie that I've done

[00:37:21] called Running the Bases

[00:37:23] that's on Amazon as well as a baseball film

[00:37:25] now I jump into the secular

[00:37:27] there's a movie called Million to One

[00:37:29] by Harold Jackson which is really good

[00:37:31] actually it's a rom-comity

[00:37:33] romance comedy rom-com

[00:37:35] and it's done very well

[00:37:37] there's a movie that's gritty

[00:37:39] crime drama called Iceman

[00:37:41] you've probably seen that or whatever

[00:37:43] or solved the

[00:37:45] it's very pretty

[00:37:47] I've been a guy that

[00:37:49] I come from the DC area so

[00:37:51] when the 80s and 90s

[00:37:53] the crack era and stuff like that

[00:37:55] I saw that stuff when I was a kid

[00:37:57] I saw a lot of crazy stuff so

[00:37:59] I know how to grasp individuals

[00:38:01] that I've seen and it not influenced me

[00:38:03] but allowed me to see what happens

[00:38:05] and I used that character and I played that character

[00:38:07] Iceman because I was playing a junkie actually

[00:38:09] but it stretched my actor muscles

[00:38:11] to be able to portray

[00:38:13] an individual who's needing help

[00:38:15] and catalyst for something that's a lot bigger than he thinks

[00:38:19] then there's the big movie that are coming out

[00:38:21] because I don't want to take up your time

[00:38:23] I have a movie called The Forge

[00:38:25] with Cameron Arnett

[00:38:27] Karen Abercrombie

[00:38:29] and this amazing

[00:38:31] young guy who

[00:38:33] I can't say our relationship

[00:38:35] but Aspen Kennedy

[00:38:37] is somebody that you want to actually have on your show

[00:38:39] this man is amazing

[00:38:41] young man is amazing and

[00:38:43] I love those guys

[00:38:45] and this is going to be one of my biggest films that I've ever done in my life

[00:38:47] it's a Sony production

[00:38:49] Kendrick Brothers

[00:38:51] you know those guys

[00:38:53] I worked with them hand in hand

[00:38:55] actually in the scenes that I did so it was an amazing blessing

[00:38:57] to be able to do that

[00:38:59] and Cameron Arnett was with me as well

[00:39:01] as well as Aspen Kennedy

[00:39:03] so that movie is

[00:39:05] needed for us as men

[00:39:07] black men, a god that

[00:39:09] when it comes to the generational curse breaking

[00:39:11] when it comes to

[00:39:13] accountability and responsibility

[00:39:15] when it comes to breaking the yoke

[00:39:17] so that we're able to move forward

[00:39:19] and our generations to be better than us

[00:39:21] when it comes to preaching the gospel

[00:39:23] that movie is the movie that's going to be amazing

[00:39:25] War Room has nothing on it

[00:39:27] it's actually in the War Room universe

[00:39:29] but this movie is going to

[00:39:31] be bananas man

[00:39:33] War Room is amazing

[00:39:35] so you say listen

[00:39:37] it's topping War Room huh

[00:39:39] it's topping War Room bro

[00:39:41] and then there's the last movie I can talk about

[00:39:43] it's called the

[00:39:45] oh my goodness

[00:39:47] Disciples, Disciples in a Moonlight

[00:39:49] that's the movie

[00:39:51] and this movie is a sci-fi

[00:39:53] not sci-fi it's a dystopian thriller

[00:39:55] Christian film

[00:39:57] that is big

[00:39:59] I can't talk

[00:40:01] really a lot about it because it's really big

[00:40:03] at the same time it's super secret but Disciples in a Moonlight

[00:40:05] is another one that's on the forge

[00:40:07] type of

[00:40:09] a platform it's going to

[00:40:11] do very well and the

[00:40:13] synopsis is about bible smuggling

[00:40:15] in a dystopian America where

[00:40:17] it's outlawed and they create

[00:40:19] their own bible

[00:40:21] to be synonymous

[00:40:23] with

[00:40:25] political agendas

[00:40:27] basically anti-christ agendas

[00:40:29] and so that movie

[00:40:31] I can't wait till it comes out and I play a guy

[00:40:33] I can tell you my character's name

[00:40:35] is Tynan and

[00:40:37] that's all I can say actually

[00:40:39] his name is Tynan and you will

[00:40:41] enjoy this movie and

[00:40:43] you will keep guessing

[00:40:45] is what I can say

[00:40:47] appreciate you Michael man

[00:40:49] tell the people how they connect with you man

[00:40:51] and how they can follow you on all your social media platforms

[00:40:53] hey yeah man you can reach me at

[00:40:55] Michael J. Patterson on Facebook

[00:40:57] you'll see my big forehead Michael J. Patterson

[00:40:59] you'll see me on

[00:41:01] Instagram I'm

[00:41:03] Michael J. Patterson

[00:41:05] and those are the best

[00:41:07] handles and if you want to check out my IMDb page

[00:41:09] Michael J. Patterson to see the films that I've been

[00:41:11] I got about

[00:41:13] 85 credits to my name so

[00:41:15] I'm a working actor man and

[00:41:17] I'm about the business for real and I really

[00:41:19] appreciate you all and I pray the head of

[00:41:21] protection over every single one of you all and your families

[00:41:23] and walk that walk and

[00:41:25] walk it hard and

[00:41:27] know that God will never ever abandon

[00:41:29] you ever and

[00:41:31] we just much love to you guys

[00:41:33] yeah absolutely

[00:41:35] listen keep it locked we gotta go through a break we'll be right back for more

[00:41:37] you tune in to the fix you know the fix is in

[00:41:39] alright guys I know

[00:41:41] Saturday

[00:41:43] I think Saturday or what it might have been

[00:41:45] late Friday even

[00:41:47] I was just searching you know searching on

[00:41:49] surfing a little bit on Instagram

[00:41:51] and I noticed that

[00:41:53] Kiki Wyatt

[00:41:55] that is listen

[00:41:57] super songsress

[00:41:59] she does a little bit of everything been doing it for a long long time

[00:42:03] she announced that she's opening up her own church

[00:42:05] with

[00:42:07] another pastor

[00:42:09] who they're looking to plant a church in Atlanta

[00:42:11] I believe and

[00:42:13] open this thing up and

[00:42:15] she was very vocal about

[00:42:17] who she wants her audience to be

[00:42:19] to come into her church wasn't she

[00:42:23] I can't even believe we gotta report this focus I

[00:42:25] I

[00:42:27] I

[00:42:29] everybody from TMZ to Ricky smiley I just

[00:42:33] we got enough issues and I love her

[00:42:35] I love her music

[00:42:39] but I will be honest with you I am

[00:42:41] not a joker when it comes

[00:42:43] to starting churches I mean I have gone back

[00:42:45] and forth with some men and women of God

[00:42:47] who's like I'm just gonna open me a church that's not

[00:42:49] that's not what that's not what that is

[00:42:51] that this ain't what we do

[00:42:53] you know I watched the video

[00:42:55] and because I want to be fair and I honestly

[00:42:57] I was sitting there I was like Laura let me sit down before

[00:42:59] I say anything

[00:43:01] if you

[00:43:03] feel led to open

[00:43:05] something

[00:43:07] I would like to hear you tell me

[00:43:09] about the process

[00:43:11] of you and God walking I will I'm this is

[00:43:13] what I personally want you know I'm saying because

[00:43:15] we should be very protective of who

[00:43:17] you're about to try to minister to

[00:43:19] and so

[00:43:21] I don't know I just think we joked

[00:43:23] I'm not saying she's a joke but I think we joke

[00:43:25] too much

[00:43:27] when it comes to God it's like

[00:43:29] God is so transformational

[00:43:31] when he changes you it's evident

[00:43:33] when he changes you you're not the same

[00:43:35] when he calls you to a ministry

[00:43:37] people

[00:43:39] feel it you know what I'm saying people know

[00:43:41] and I just got a sense of

[00:43:45] she in her

[00:43:47] what's his name

[00:43:49] Larry Weathers Pastor Larry Weathers

[00:43:51] maybe they have been doing this

[00:43:53] thing in the works I just felt like the way

[00:43:55] she tried to defend herself and her music

[00:43:57] why I'm still going to be doing this

[00:43:59] but I'm gonna be doing this

[00:44:01] and you know fine it's gonna be at three o'clock in the afternoon

[00:44:03] I love that because we don't

[00:44:05] like getting up I do like getting up and true Christians

[00:44:07] just get up and see him early I don't like that dismissive

[00:44:09] tone

[00:44:11] churches all over the world people still get up at seven

[00:44:13] o'clock in the morning to go to practice at church

[00:44:15] and then we have service at 9 30

[00:44:17] and another service at 10 and some of us is about that life

[00:44:19] 130 and 2 so I didn't like

[00:44:21] that and here's the thing

[00:44:23] what nothing I don't like is

[00:44:25] you trying to act like these churches

[00:44:27] and except gay people I can go to any church

[00:44:29] across the world right now and it's probably some gay

[00:44:31] people up in there and they probably serving in a church

[00:44:33] and we know that they're gay

[00:44:35] so that's not the issue the issue is the

[00:44:37] energy for me

[00:44:39] that's that's the problem for me

[00:44:41] you know I'm saying if you say you truly love people

[00:44:43] then you need to love church folk too

[00:44:45] I've been hurt who ain't been hurt and when she was talking about church hurt

[00:44:48] I was like it's not

[00:44:50] the church that hurt you is somebody

[00:44:52] at a church that hurt you ma'am I need you to

[00:44:54] start talking like that and I need y'all

[00:44:56] and I mean I need a body of Christ to start

[00:44:58] pointing a point amount too

[00:45:00] don't stop saying a church or church and I ain't going

[00:45:02] to know church across the world ever again no you need

[00:45:04] to start saying I'm not going to church where

[00:45:06] pastor or sister Johnson did me wrong

[00:45:08] and if they are over that ministry

[00:45:10] I shall not be a part of it

[00:45:12] but stop saying it's every

[00:45:14] it ain't every church it's not every church

[00:45:16] and so I don't like it

[00:45:18] when people think

[00:45:20] that because you've had a little funky experience

[00:45:22] or you think some churches are being biased

[00:45:24] oh I gotta go start something

[00:45:26] good luck boo

[00:45:28] good luck and if God called you to it

[00:45:30] it's gonna be successful and I love that

[00:45:32] if that happens but stop

[00:45:34] starting stuff out of hurt that's my thing that was

[00:45:36] my and it just kind of seeps through the screen

[00:45:38] on the video so that's what I didn't like

[00:45:40] focus I was like where's the joy

[00:45:42] it's not a very personal

[00:45:44] it's not really personal

[00:45:46] happy like it is there when you come to know

[00:45:48] the Lord you are excited you're on fire

[00:45:50] for the you're just pumped you don't even

[00:45:52] have to call out all that other extra stuff

[00:45:54] that you know maybe does exist you're just

[00:45:56] like I cannot wait for God to use

[00:45:58] me in this word to flow like I'm excited

[00:46:00] you don't say that I get to do this

[00:46:02] and yes yeah I don't want to hear about

[00:46:04] you going to do R&B after you leave church

[00:46:06] on Sunday I don't want to hear even if

[00:46:08] that's what you do we got to talk about that

[00:46:10] so it's just some red flags for me

[00:46:12] and I'm tired of people

[00:46:14] starting ministries

[00:46:16] and then they fall off two years later

[00:46:18] because I'll be real with you I know

[00:46:20] there's a special place in hell for people who think

[00:46:22] they were called to the ministry and they

[00:46:24] think it's a joke

[00:46:26] and then they lose the sheep that came to

[00:46:28] eat and now they all

[00:46:30] scattered because you had a moment

[00:46:32] so I'm praying to God this is not that

[00:46:34] like honestly my soul was like dear God

[00:46:36] I pray to God that they are focused

[00:46:38] and this shout out to

[00:46:40] Kiki and Pasteleri

[00:46:42] like I really am praying

[00:46:44] for the sound especially Atlanta you know it's personal

[00:46:46] to me ATL has been through way too much

[00:46:48] too many pastors too many shady

[00:46:50] ministry so all things Atlanta I am

[00:46:52] super protective of because

[00:46:54] my friends my personal friends

[00:46:56] and family they have kids now

[00:46:58] so no I don't want them

[00:47:00] drawn to a ministry just because a person is

[00:47:02] a famous person and it happens all the time

[00:47:04] please make sure

[00:47:06] make sure you are a man and woman of God

[00:47:08] and you about to leave these babies the right

[00:47:10] way so don't

[00:47:12] call and call you know and I prefer

[00:47:14] you to actually go sit up underneath somebody and learn something

[00:47:16] first but you know what maybe not you

[00:47:18] and I know it's a different church

[00:47:20] and I'm fine with that but I'm saying like

[00:47:22] I this thing put me on guard I just was

[00:47:24] like okay I love you

[00:47:26] I do I'm praying to God you actually

[00:47:28] got a good covering in a good community and

[00:47:30] people are gonna be there for you

[00:47:32] you know and be there for the church

[00:47:34] and that's all I gotta say about that

[00:47:36] whoo I know that wasn't my

[00:47:38] well I'm hoping I'm hoping one thing she did say

[00:47:40] one thing she did say and I hope

[00:47:42] and she stays true to this

[00:47:44] she said this is gonna be a non

[00:47:46] traditional space focused on worship

[00:47:48] and the word

[00:47:50] yes between her

[00:47:52] and pastor

[00:47:54] and he may be doing a word part I don't know

[00:47:58] and that's fine but but don't skip past

[00:48:00] things because she's kept saying

[00:48:02] judgment quite often she said judgment

[00:48:04] quite often a place

[00:48:06] where you're not not where it's not judgmental

[00:48:08] when you come as you are

[00:48:10] absolutely to your point dice come as you

[00:48:12] are we don't stay as we are

[00:48:14] the sanctification process

[00:48:16] the transformation process needs to start

[00:48:18] you know as soon as you start

[00:48:20] you know as you can so no no

[00:48:22] life groups need to be there

[00:48:24] Greek Council needs to be there all these things

[00:48:26] need to be in place so that way

[00:48:28] people get the resources they need

[00:48:30] to start learning how to be more like

[00:48:32] Christ Christ is the example

[00:48:34] not just you can just

[00:48:36] do what you want to do no

[00:48:38] ATL day

[00:48:40] I mean from

[00:48:42] Canterville, full industrial you name it Marriott

[00:48:44] Alpharetta Lawrenceville when that

[00:48:46] there are so many places you can go

[00:48:48] to actually start ministry

[00:48:50] already

[00:48:52] there and you can go partner with somebody

[00:48:54] else they don't need another church

[00:48:56] I promise to God we don't need another building

[00:48:58] but I also want to say like

[00:49:00] you can go on the streets

[00:49:02] you know I'm saying like

[00:49:04] there's so many places that will allow you to

[00:49:06] pop up and I'll be real with you

[00:49:08] I would have started

[00:49:10] there but this ain't my ministry so

[00:49:12] I just I'm just saying

[00:49:14] like you know I love Atlanta you know that

[00:49:16] like I said that's my home

[00:49:18] so I feel a type of way about

[00:49:20] somebody else trying to start something else

[00:49:22] and but you know maybe this

[00:49:24] will just be a place like she said

[00:49:26] maybe three o'clock in the afternoon

[00:49:28] you know for those who like to sleep

[00:49:30] in or not trying to get up early

[00:49:32] you know I'm saying maybe this will be a good opportunity

[00:49:34] for a different type

[00:49:36] of audience you know

[00:49:38] who's seeking the Lord at a different time

[00:49:40] of day to at least come and get some

[00:49:42] work like I'm all for the word

[00:49:44] I'm definitely all for the worship but

[00:49:46] I'm definitely for the called

[00:49:48] before anything

[00:49:50] facts I am too as well

[00:49:52] please be called to be a

[00:49:54] pastor this is not

[00:49:56] a loose thing to just jump

[00:49:58] into like it's a regular just

[00:50:00] business you just trying to start up

[00:50:02] it's not a life

[00:50:04] that's state and so you gotta

[00:50:06] remember that this is not just a

[00:50:08] what I can sing or oh I got I can get into

[00:50:10] that word and it

[00:50:12] is live man and and it's

[00:50:14] a long term thing that's why

[00:50:16] I'm like any of you listening you like man

[00:50:18] I know God's calling me to do my ministry okay fine

[00:50:20] God is not just calling you to do ministry

[00:50:22] he's calling you to do life with people

[00:50:24] and that's how you have to have it in

[00:50:26] your soul is like life

[00:50:28] like I'm about to do life with these people

[00:50:30] until the end of time all right listen

[00:50:32] coming up don't touch that down we got a real

[00:50:34] talk conversation we go into

[00:50:36] a break we come in right back with more

[00:50:38] keep it locked you tune into the fix and the fix

[00:50:40] is him welcome back welcome back

[00:50:42] DJ focus dice gamble you tap

[00:50:44] back into the fix it's time to get

[00:50:46] really nice streets and yeah

[00:50:48] it's uh you know it's that

[00:50:50] week you know we love lovers

[00:50:52] week so we might as well

[00:50:54] have some conversations about

[00:50:56] relationships this week

[00:50:58] dice so I figured yeah let's

[00:51:00] let's start it off strong why not

[00:51:02] let's talk about the lack of

[00:51:04] discipline in the marriage

[00:51:08] I think for me

[00:51:10] when I think about discipline and being

[00:51:12] you know self-discipline within the

[00:51:14] marriage I think any

[00:51:16] successful marriage needs discipline

[00:51:18] because if not let's be very clear

[00:51:20] you're going to go do

[00:51:22] things you have no business doing you know

[00:51:24] you talk about

[00:51:26] maybe a husband that needs to control his

[00:51:28] anger and

[00:51:30] if he doesn't discipline himself to control his anger

[00:51:32] we know we have a lot of domestic

[00:51:34] situations that come out of that where

[00:51:36] you see abuse within the marriage

[00:51:38] or and that could be either way you know

[00:51:40] maybe a wife too as well when you talk

[00:51:42] about physical abuse

[00:51:44] so of course yeah if you don't discipline

[00:51:46] yourself you can get yourself caught up

[00:51:48] in stuff you ain't got no business doing

[00:51:50] let's be very clear when you talk about

[00:51:52] everybody going out and

[00:51:54] cheating on their spouses

[00:51:56] it takes discipline to go home

[00:51:58] it takes discipline to say

[00:52:00] you know what even if my flesh is

[00:52:02] arising and I want to do something else

[00:52:04] I'm not going to do it

[00:52:06] because I know what I'm called to

[00:52:08] I understand the covenant that I took

[00:52:10] so yeah just wanted to open up this

[00:52:12] conversation on just self-discipline

[00:52:14] within the marriage and see you know

[00:52:16] yeah see if we can see what God

[00:52:18] do see see if we can bless

[00:52:20] bless the masses today

[00:52:22] dice

[00:52:24] I don't know man I think you

[00:52:26] gonna start this week off again a lot of people upset

[00:52:28] with you bro because

[00:52:30] whoo obviously

[00:52:32] and we know from therapists there are

[00:52:34] a lot of marriages in trouble

[00:52:36] it's just a fact you know it's

[00:52:38] unfortunate though but

[00:52:40] it is what it is and I know

[00:52:42] it's easy to get caught up and like you said

[00:52:44] we were in cuffing season

[00:52:46] you know and it goes on the way to what

[00:52:48] Valentine's Day

[00:52:50] right around this time

[00:52:52] yeah let it over it's a

[00:52:54] statistic say by the end of this week dice it might be over

[00:52:56] it's a statistic say

[00:52:58] that's it that's it it's unfortunate

[00:53:00] but I mean honestly I think for me

[00:53:02] this is frustrating

[00:53:04] because you and I both know we had to go

[00:53:06] through marriage counselor not had to but

[00:53:08] our pastor referred us to a great Christian

[00:53:10] marriage counselor and

[00:53:12] both my husband and I being married

[00:53:14] previously it was necessary

[00:53:16] because we needed to know

[00:53:18] one if

[00:53:20] if this is really what we should be doing we needed

[00:53:22] other people praying with us

[00:53:24] and for us and in it together

[00:53:26] but then you also needed to hash out some of your

[00:53:28] some of your stuff in front of

[00:53:30] somebody who had no bias toward either one of you

[00:53:32] but they're just gonna tell it like it is

[00:53:34] I think that

[00:53:36] discipline

[00:53:38] is lacking in many marriages because of the lack

[00:53:40] of courting

[00:53:42] I just don't think people know how to court correctly

[00:53:44] and so

[00:53:46] by the time you get in it

[00:53:48] now you stuck with a person who's on discipline

[00:53:50] in so many ways but you would have learned that

[00:53:52] if you would have spent a little time or took them

[00:53:54] around your family and friends and church

[00:53:56] and let other people see this person

[00:53:58] because other people are they locked in man

[00:54:00] some people can call out stuff you

[00:54:02] cause you've never seen a person you know like

[00:54:04] this

[00:54:06] you know like a 50 year old if you're getting married

[00:54:08] at 20 they can tell you a whole lot about who you

[00:54:10] about to marry they can tell you a whole lot

[00:54:12] cause they've been around a block a few times so that

[00:54:14] as soon as they see them and hear them talk they're gonna tell you

[00:54:16] like hmm

[00:54:18] so I'm here upset

[00:54:20] this is what I see this is what I hear you know what I'm saying are you ready for that

[00:54:22] so it's important to share

[00:54:24] your

[00:54:26] person before you get married with other people

[00:54:28] I think and they have that

[00:54:30] vast ability to be led of the spirit or

[00:54:32] to just see habits that they formed

[00:54:34] already you know and they can call them out for you

[00:54:36] so

[00:54:38] I think a lot of people wouldn't be in an undisciplined

[00:54:40] marriage if they would have

[00:54:42] introduced their to be person

[00:54:44] to other people

[00:54:46] well that's a good point and I think

[00:54:48] too as well even in that dice

[00:54:50] I think you have to be careful because

[00:54:52] depending on who's in your circle and

[00:54:54] who you really you know who has

[00:54:56] your ear

[00:54:58] sometimes that can be

[00:55:00] not a good thing cause I've seen some marriages

[00:55:02] break up because of jealousy

[00:55:04] or people just being

[00:55:06] spiteful and saying things

[00:55:08] or you know making up things about people

[00:55:10] that are not true

[00:55:12] so yeah I've seen it both ways

[00:55:14] you're right absolutely definitely have wise counsel

[00:55:16] and definitely the courting process

[00:55:18] like you say during the courting

[00:55:20] process this is when you should find out

[00:55:22] your spouse's weaknesses

[00:55:24] or your

[00:55:26] person that you're dating their weaknesses

[00:55:28] and you have to be

[00:55:30] okay with taking their weaknesses

[00:55:32] for who they are, for face value

[00:55:34] and seeing if this is something

[00:55:36] like you say you want to pursue long time

[00:55:38] or if you want to say you know what

[00:55:40] maybe you know we're not equally matched

[00:55:42] or you know there's a few things that are

[00:55:44] non-negotiable for me that I really

[00:55:46] can't you know get past

[00:55:48] and I think that's

[00:55:50] when maybe like you say that courting process

[00:55:52] is so important. I'll push back

[00:55:54] on everything you just said real quick

[00:55:56] and the reason why I'm going to say

[00:55:58] what I'm going to say is

[00:56:00] these are some red flags right

[00:56:02] not just if you have a good

[00:56:04] circle but if this other person

[00:56:06] if you can't introduce them to your kids

[00:56:08] if you have previous kids

[00:56:10] if you can't introduce them to your parents

[00:56:12] if you can't introduce them to your best friend

[00:56:14] or you know what I'm saying if you can't introduce them to

[00:56:16] like if you can't take them out in the day

[00:56:18] time, if they don't know where you live

[00:56:20] you're like it's just a lot so for me

[00:56:22] I'm like not just saying

[00:56:24] you know because maybe everybody

[00:56:26] don't have good Christian friends I agree with you on that

[00:56:28] but I'm just saying like there are a lot

[00:56:30] of different types of exposure

[00:56:32] you can expose a person to during

[00:56:34] that dating process that will

[00:56:36] say a lot about them you know so

[00:56:38] I'm just saying like

[00:56:40] I just don't think people

[00:56:42] include enough people

[00:56:44] in their next thing and it doesn't

[00:56:46] have to be like yo you know

[00:56:48] auntie or uncle it could be strangers

[00:56:50] you know but I don't know that's just

[00:56:52] what I take on that

[00:56:54] no that's good I appreciate you sharing it

[00:56:56] I think just everybody's experience is different

[00:56:58] because some people even with

[00:57:00] they family they family is still toxic

[00:57:02] they family let's be very clear

[00:57:04] everybody ain't got loved ones that love them

[00:57:06] some people got loved ones that are haters

[00:57:08] oh no that's why I said have a

[00:57:10] variety that's what I'm saying

[00:57:12] it's like not just like you at the family reunion

[00:57:14] it's like no take them somewhere else

[00:57:16] go be around somebody you know I'm saying

[00:57:18] like you know get good exposure

[00:57:20] in your community that's all I'm trying to say

[00:57:22] no that makes sense that makes sense

[00:57:24] listen DJ Focus, Dice Gamble

[00:57:26] we talking about it today we talking about it

[00:57:28] you know lack of can lack of discipline

[00:57:30] in the marriage you know hinder

[00:57:32] hinder the relationship listen we

[00:57:34] gonna go to a break we be right back with more

[00:57:36] keep it locked you tune into the fix

[00:57:38] and it fixes in

[00:57:50] but here's the main question

[00:57:52] and I know this is on everybody's mind

[00:57:54] what was the best Super Bowl commercial

[00:57:56] well here's a couple of favorite minds alright

[00:57:58] the first one is the State Farm commercial

[00:58:00] where Arnold Schwarzenegger's

[00:58:02] Australian accent makes it

[00:58:04] difficult for him to be able to say

[00:58:06] neighbor he says neighbor

[00:58:08] neighbor I thought it was something pretty cool

[00:58:10] to be able to see it look he needs help from everybody

[00:58:12] to be able to go and be able to say

[00:58:14] neighbor he goes through different action scenes

[00:58:16] there's everything from puppies

[00:58:18] to helicopters and even

[00:58:20] some explosions that one minute

[00:58:22] ad had absolutely everything

[00:58:24] my next favorite was the Duncan Donuts commercial

[00:58:26] it was cheesy with Ben Affleck

[00:58:28] as he was out to prove that he could be a pop

[00:58:30] star just like his wife Jennifer Lopez

[00:58:32] in this recording studio

[00:58:34] and he brought in the help of Tom Brady

[00:58:36] and a very reluctant Matt Damon

[00:58:38] it was funny and look

[00:58:40] if it's funny it really works out for me

[00:58:42] finally we have to give a shout out

[00:58:44] to Queen Bay okay Beyonce

[00:58:46] and her Verizon commercial

[00:58:48] was just perfect it was

[00:58:50] full of personality and trust me

[00:58:52] it's one that you have to go back

[00:58:54] and watch but let's hear from you

[00:58:56] what did you think about the Super Bowl commercials

[00:58:58] and also what did you think about Usher's

[00:59:00] halftime performance let me

[00:59:02] know on X at Justin Adams TV

[00:59:04] again Justin Adams TV

[00:59:06] or you can hit up my man DJ Focus

[00:59:08] at DJ Focus 4

[00:59:10] again DJ Focus 4

[00:59:12] and we'll read throughout all your comments

[00:59:14] all week long

[00:59:16] such a great Super Bowl

[00:59:18] especially with the commercials

[00:59:20] I'm Justin Adams and this has been your DeFix Faith

[00:59:22] in Sports Report not back to DJ Focus

[00:59:24] at Dice Gamble as the fix is it

[00:59:26] DJ Focus, Dice Gamble

[00:59:28] still in the middle of our real talk

[00:59:30] conversation just talking about today

[00:59:32] the lack of discipline in the marriage

[00:59:34] and I guess we got to talk about some of the benefits

[00:59:36] to as well Dice

[00:59:38] hmm

[00:59:40] I mean how many

[00:59:42] many benefits of you being

[00:59:44] you know discipline in a marriage

[00:59:46] or should I say just

[00:59:48] consistent and faithful

[00:59:50] and dedicated in a marriage

[00:59:52] you know and obviously communications number one

[00:59:54] that's I think that this goes both ways

[00:59:56] I think you have to be

[00:59:58] disciplined in that is what you know I want to say

[01:00:00] and then of course if you don't have

[01:00:02] good communication well we know where that's going to lead you

[01:00:04] you probably

[01:00:06] probably won't be married too much longer

[01:00:08] so

[01:00:10] DeFix that's pretty much

[01:00:12] at all

[01:00:14] and I think that's a constant

[01:00:16] I think you continue to

[01:00:18] learn your spouse each and every year

[01:00:20] so communication changes so yes

[01:00:22] absolutely I agree

[01:00:24] yeah it changes I think we first get married

[01:00:26] you got a lot to say and then when you start living with somebody

[01:00:28] you learn their ways and

[01:00:30] and then you know and then you just

[01:00:32] learn what to do you know what I'm saying like

[01:00:34] you get married you're like

[01:00:36] I don't know

[01:00:38] the dishes are washed at night and the clothes

[01:00:40] pick up off the floor and then

[01:00:42] ten years in you're like I'll wash some dishes

[01:00:44] in the morning if I feel like it and

[01:00:46] your clothes are going to be on the floor unless you wash them

[01:00:48] so communication

[01:00:50] does change

[01:00:52] and it's funny you're grand up

[01:00:54] I'm not going to argue with you about it

[01:00:56] I'm not arguing no more

[01:00:58] you were absolutely right because that was something that I had to learn too as well

[01:01:00] because of being the discipline

[01:01:02] of yeah my wife

[01:01:04] absolutely she came up she liked it a certain way

[01:01:06] and

[01:01:08] yeah my ass was probably the opposite of what she liked

[01:01:10] so

[01:01:12] we had a bunch of nice

[01:01:14] communication

[01:01:16] debates

[01:01:18] as it would be because I was like

[01:01:20] I don't see what's so wrong with it she's like

[01:01:22] no we would never do that in our house

[01:01:24] growing up

[01:01:26] I'm like okay I get it

[01:01:28] you got to pick your battles though when you get married pick your fight

[01:01:30] pick the one that makes most sense you know what I'm saying

[01:01:32] like does this really matter at the end of the day

[01:01:34] no

[01:01:36] if it doesn't matter we're not talking about it anymore

[01:01:38] so yes communication does change as you

[01:01:40] stay in a relationship

[01:01:42] the longer you stay in a relationship how you communicate changes

[01:01:44] but I would say support

[01:01:46] I think you need to be very disciplined at supporting each other

[01:01:48] I think that matters more than anything

[01:01:50] even in the midst of an argument that

[01:01:52] you guys haven't found a solution to

[01:01:54] you know or it's like

[01:01:56] we're just going to agree to disagree but I'm going to support

[01:01:58] whatever you got going on

[01:02:00] you know like I'm still here for you even though you know

[01:02:02] how I feel about said situation

[01:02:04] you know I think that probably matters

[01:02:06] right after communication

[01:02:08] I hear a lot of and I'm glad you brought that up

[01:02:10] because I hear a lot of people

[01:02:12] you know say that they struggle in this area

[01:02:14] when you talk about supporting each other

[01:02:16] and I don't know

[01:02:18] I just feel like sometimes and we talk about it all the time

[01:02:20] do you feel like

[01:02:22] people feel like they own a different

[01:02:24] like you're on the same team

[01:02:26] I don't understand how to support things

[01:02:28] is a bad you know

[01:02:30] what's the issue with it like

[01:02:32] you literally married this person

[01:02:34] you should want to support them in all areas of their lives

[01:02:36] but I hear a lot of people saying

[01:02:38] no they don't they don't want to do it

[01:02:40] and that's weird

[01:02:42] it's weird I mean you would want the best

[01:02:44] for the person you would and you would want them to have

[01:02:46] the best experience in life and you would want them

[01:02:48] to have the best marriage in life and you would want to be

[01:02:50] the best friend because hopefully you're the best friend

[01:02:52] so you thinking you're

[01:02:54] on two different teams is that

[01:02:56] is definitely weird so

[01:02:58] I don't get it

[01:03:00] shout out to all y'all who got your marriage going

[01:03:02] when y'all don't support each other

[01:03:04] I don't understand it

[01:03:06] yeah

[01:03:08] you know

[01:03:10] let's see

[01:03:12] I would say

[01:03:14] being disciplined

[01:03:16] like your emotions

[01:03:18] I think is important being tapped into

[01:03:20] the other person you know being empathetic

[01:03:22] you know

[01:03:24] not necessarily always sympathetic

[01:03:26] to the person you're with

[01:03:28] but you know sometimes I think you can lean

[01:03:30] heavily on the other person not realizing that

[01:03:32] this

[01:03:34] person has you leaning on them every day

[01:03:36] like

[01:03:38] when do they actually get an opportunity

[01:03:40] to be free of you

[01:03:42] you know what I'm saying

[01:03:44] I think sometimes we don't think about like okay

[01:03:46] maybe I need to check in

[01:03:48] and make sure you're okay

[01:03:50] because you just assume that you guys are doing life together

[01:03:52] that the person is always right

[01:03:54] in a good space and they don't you know

[01:03:56] I'm saying because they're just we're together forever

[01:03:58] so it's you and me but sometimes

[01:04:00] you need to check in

[01:04:02] I think on the emotions of your

[01:04:04] other person and I would say be disciplined

[01:04:06] about it maybe at least once a week

[01:04:08] I agree with you on that

[01:04:10] and I think to as well

[01:04:12] shout out to everybody who understands

[01:04:14] and knows you know

[01:04:16] your spouse is like emotional

[01:04:18] states sometimes like you say

[01:04:20] when you need that checking is very important

[01:04:22] like if you feel like they might

[01:04:24] be in you know maybe

[01:04:26] grieving or just you know down

[01:04:28] kind of like depressed

[01:04:30] absolutely you got to check in and say what's going on

[01:04:32] make sure you can be that calm

[01:04:34] or that peace or just the heart

[01:04:36] with ears I say it all the time sometimes

[01:04:38] you ain't got to say nothing let them speak

[01:04:40] yeah that's true

[01:04:42] that's true that's true

[01:04:44] that's good

[01:04:46] what else do you think

[01:04:48] I would say honesty

[01:04:50] that thing right there

[01:04:52] be very disciplined

[01:04:54] and being honest

[01:04:58] marriage is not the place for lies

[01:05:00] it's just not the place for secrets

[01:05:02] it's not the place for lies

[01:05:04] if I had to

[01:05:06] counsel anybody who was going to get

[01:05:08] married I would let them know if you have a tendency

[01:05:10] to not be honest

[01:05:12] you definitely don't want to be married

[01:05:14] you don't want to be married

[01:05:16] because you become one

[01:05:18] with all of your drama and it's funny because a lot of people say this

[01:05:20] in the world

[01:05:22] oh I can't say that

[01:05:24] or I can't tell them about that

[01:05:26] okay

[01:05:28] what you don't want is for that to pop up later on

[01:05:30] you don't want it like

[01:05:32] five years in and it pops up all of a sudden

[01:05:34] you know

[01:05:36] because you might not be married

[01:05:38] after you live with a person and you've been lying to them every day

[01:05:40] so

[01:05:42] and lies can be

[01:05:44] I just didn't tell you

[01:05:46] to put that out there for those of you who still think you're not a liar

[01:05:50] hello

[01:05:52] what is up with the crickets

[01:05:54] I thought we were talking about disciplinary actions

[01:05:56] within America

[01:05:58] hello it's true

[01:06:00] it's true

[01:06:02] well I think that's why the communication piece is so vital

[01:06:04] and I think a lot of people need to understand

[01:06:06] how to effectively communicate in general

[01:06:08] because that's not

[01:06:10] something that's taught in every household

[01:06:12] so from some households

[01:06:14] specific cultures

[01:06:16] you know what goes on in this house

[01:06:18] stays in this house

[01:06:20] and I think that shouldn't be

[01:06:22] that right there in itself to me

[01:06:24] limits communication

[01:06:26] and if you taught that from a child

[01:06:28] and you don't kind of like deal with that

[01:06:30] as you become an adult

[01:06:32] that can be a hindrance on your communication

[01:06:34] and understanding what's

[01:06:36] what's going to trigger her or him

[01:06:38] to kind of like go off the roof

[01:06:40] like if I really tell him this

[01:06:42] how is she going to receive it

[01:06:44] and

[01:06:46] when's the best time to even tell it

[01:06:48] because you know our conversations

[01:06:50] within a marriage are tough

[01:06:52] at times

[01:06:54] yeah they can be very very tough

[01:06:56] effective communication

[01:06:58] and honesty are two different things

[01:07:00] and I just want to

[01:07:02] wrap my rant up on this one right here

[01:07:04] I could tell you that

[01:07:06] hey I'm late for church

[01:07:08] I'll meet you at church I'm gonna be late 15 minutes late

[01:07:10] or I'm gonna meet you at the restaurant

[01:07:12] will be about 15 minutes late

[01:07:14] yes I could pick kids up from school and be about 15 minutes late

[01:07:16] I'm communicating

[01:07:18] right I'm texting my partner

[01:07:20] I'm calling my partner and I'm like I'm going to be

[01:07:22] you know I'm just running behind but what I'm not

[01:07:24] maybe saying is it's because I'm contemplating

[01:07:26] suicide in the car every

[01:07:28] 15 minutes after everybody leaves the house

[01:07:30] so it's like be honest

[01:07:32] you know I'm saying like a lot of relationships

[01:07:34] and I don't know who this is for

[01:07:36] it must be somebody out there it's like

[01:07:38] communicate with your partner

[01:07:40] even the things that you are afraid of

[01:07:42] because that's why you're married

[01:07:44] that's why God gave you a help me

[01:07:46] you know what I'm saying that's why God gave you a husband

[01:07:48] that's why God gave you a wife is to have somebody

[01:07:50] there for you

[01:07:52] and the gift of finding somebody

[01:07:54] or God sending somebody who you just so happen to be

[01:07:56] able to trust

[01:07:58] that thing is huge some people never find it

[01:08:00] ever

[01:08:02] in this life so it's like if God gives it to you

[01:08:04] you need to trust that God knew what he was doing

[01:08:06] and you know

[01:08:08] that he could be something so simple

[01:08:10] something so super simple like

[01:08:12] you know what we are going to lose our house

[01:08:14] so what you can get another house

[01:08:16] we're still going to be married we are going to go to an apartment

[01:08:18] who cares

[01:08:20] but I'm just saying

[01:08:22] these things matter

[01:08:24] learn to communicate honestly

[01:08:26] not just communicate but honest communication

[01:08:28] I think will save a lot of people

[01:08:30] even people who got addiction

[01:08:32] I'm still addicted to porn

[01:08:34] instead of looking for you in the house

[01:08:36] for 30 minutes trying to figure out where you went

[01:08:38] just say what it is

[01:08:40] not 30 minutes in the house

[01:08:42] where does it go

[01:08:44] I'm in the closet

[01:08:46] let's walk through this together

[01:08:48] so that's what I'm saying

[01:08:50] appreciation of who you've been

[01:08:52] given I think is huge

[01:08:54] not taking it for granted

[01:08:56] because they had a saying

[01:08:58] what is it so many fish in the sea

[01:09:00] no it ain't

[01:09:02] it ain't fish but it ain't your fish

[01:09:04] somebody else's fish

[01:09:06] leave that snap alone

[01:09:08] leave that snap alone

[01:09:10] stick with the tilapia

[01:09:12] that snap isn't you

[01:09:14] I like for marriages to work

[01:09:16] I am definitely an advocate

[01:09:18] for and I'm a true believer

[01:09:20] you can get through anything in America

[01:09:22] absolutely anything

[01:09:24] if both of you really love God

[01:09:26] if you love God that's who you're going to go to

[01:09:28] to help you in your marriage

[01:09:30] if you love God you're definitely going to love the person

[01:09:32] God gave you

[01:09:34] and really protect them

[01:09:36] and that person is going to protect you

[01:09:38] and want the best for you

[01:09:40] no I agree

[01:09:42] listen DJ Focus nice gamble

[01:09:44] that's our real talk conversation for today

[01:09:46] listen we got to go to a break

[01:09:48] we'll be right back with more

[01:09:50] keep it locked you tune into the fix

[01:09:52] when the fix is in

[01:09:54] welcome back DJ Focus nice gamble

[01:09:56] you tap back into the fix

[01:09:58] you celebrate the birthday

[01:10:00] I know you're going to hate on the 16th president

[01:10:02] who led the country through the horrific American Civil War

[01:10:04] but that's Abraham Lincoln

[01:10:06] I just had to start out with him

[01:10:08] Bill Russell rest in power

[01:10:10] brother basketball player legendary center

[01:10:12] five time NBA MVP

[01:10:14] and 12 time all star

[01:10:16] all things Boston Celtics

[01:10:18] you know 11 championships

[01:10:20] from 1957

[01:10:22] to 1969

[01:10:24] and listen here

[01:10:26] we had your boy Arsenio Hall's

[01:10:28] birthday today he turned 67 years old

[01:10:30] a famous and

[01:10:32] super popular TV show host but also

[01:10:34] he was on the celebrity apprentice

[01:10:36] he had his own reality

[01:10:38] show and he's been in a couple

[01:10:40] movies so yeah Cleveland Ohio

[01:10:42] that's why I had to bring him up focus

[01:10:44] I know you just all about all things

[01:10:46] OHIO and Robert

[01:10:48] Gryffind 2011

[01:10:50] Heisman Trophy winner Baylor University

[01:10:52] draft his second overall by the Washington

[01:10:54] Redskins in 2012

[01:10:56] went on to win the

[01:10:58] NFL offensive rookie of the year award

[01:11:00] okay after four years in Washington he signed

[01:11:02] to the what Cleveland Browns

[01:11:04] in 2016

[01:11:06] and then later the Baltimore Raven

[01:11:08] shout out to you Mr. Robert Griffin

[01:11:10] the third so yeah

[01:11:12] and happy birthday to each and every one of you

[01:11:14] today um you know I'm praying

[01:11:16] you have a super blessed day hopefully you get

[01:11:18] something that you wanted or at least

[01:11:20] go somewhere you wanted to go oh Gucci man

[01:11:22] okay okay I forgot about you Gucci

[01:11:24] shout out to all things Gucci man

[01:11:26] the famous rapper he started

[01:11:28] rapping at 14 he actually was charged

[01:11:30] um you know with murder

[01:11:32] but he got uh he got out of there he got out

[01:11:34] of there changed his life so all things

[01:11:36] Atlanta happy birthday brother

[01:11:38] and of course we have to

[01:11:40] report the breaking news it came in late

[01:11:42] yesterday afternoon

[01:11:44] unfortunately listen prayers up

[01:11:46] to pastor Joe Olstein

[01:11:48] as he responded to a

[01:11:50] woman coming in

[01:11:52] and firing

[01:11:54] during the service yesterday

[01:11:56] uh Joe Olstein uh he

[01:11:58] released a statement after a woman in the trench

[01:12:00] coat opened fire with a gun

[01:12:02] inside of his mega church

[01:12:04] the shooting at the Lakewood church in Houston

[01:12:06] took place shortly before

[01:12:08] the 2 p.m. Spanish service

[01:12:10] was set to begin

[01:12:12] now two off-duty officers

[01:12:14] were working security they actually

[01:12:16] confronted and killed the

[01:12:18] unidentified suspect

[01:12:20] police said that

[01:12:22] two people

[01:12:24] were shot and injured as well

[01:12:26] including a five-year-old boy

[01:12:28] who was entered the church actually

[01:12:30] with the woman and the young

[01:12:32] boy was taken to the hospital is

[01:12:34] and is currently in critical condition

[01:12:36] um again

[01:12:38] Joe Olstein um

[01:12:40] released a statement saying our community is

[01:12:42] devastated in today's event and

[01:12:44] grateful for the swift actions by

[01:12:46] law enforcement who were

[01:12:48] on the site

[01:12:50] um he went on to say

[01:12:52] um

[01:12:54] in the face of such darkness we

[01:12:56] must hold on to our faith and remember

[01:12:58] evil will not prevail

[01:13:00] God will guide us through the darkness of

[01:13:02] times together we will

[01:13:04] rise above this tragedy

[01:13:06] and stay affirming our commitment to love

[01:13:08] and support one another

[01:13:10] in times like this our faith

[01:13:12] is tested but it is also strengthen

[01:13:14] we don't always understand

[01:13:16] why things happen like this

[01:13:18] but we know that God is in control

[01:13:20] please join me and continue

[01:13:22] prayer and healing and hope for peace

[01:13:24] and it's uh

[01:13:26] it's actually you know it's signed by Joe Olstein

[01:13:28] this is a statement official statement he put

[01:13:30] actually on his uh all his

[01:13:32] social media platforms too as well so

[01:13:34] you can go to Joe Olstein's social

[01:13:36] media platforms to read that statement I

[01:13:38] just read but we definitely are

[01:13:40] again praying for everybody

[01:13:42] that was uh

[01:13:44] you know impacted

[01:13:46] by this situation

[01:13:48] um I this is just

[01:13:50] you know something that you know you would think you

[01:13:52] you know you're going to safe haven your church

[01:13:54] just to praise and worship and

[01:13:56] you never know when things like this are gonna happen so

[01:13:58] yeah we're definitely definitely praying for everybody

[01:14:00] uh that it was

[01:14:02] at this uh live taping

[01:14:04] uh yesterday that was in the church

[01:14:06] definitely everybody who's injured and

[01:14:08] we'll have more details on this

[01:14:10] coming up as the story continues to unfold

[01:14:12] alright don't touch that

[01:14:14] doubt uh we got much much

[01:14:16] more to come today uh we're going

[01:14:18] to a break we'll be right back with more

[01:14:20] keep it locked you tune into the fix

[01:14:22] and the fix is in

[01:14:24] yo what's good family welcome back to the lyrics

[01:14:26] for the mind but we dive

[01:14:28] deep into the lyrics of impactful songs

[01:14:30] and explore the mental health themes

[01:14:32] they address today

[01:14:34] we dive into we against the world

[01:14:36] by hovy featuring

[01:14:38] andy manyo shared

[01:14:40] light on mental health gyms embedded

[01:14:42] in this track now

[01:14:44] hovy kicks off talking about

[01:14:46] taking chances on his own

[01:14:48] but realizing it ain't easy

[01:14:50] as it seems mental health often starts

[01:14:52] with that solo struggle

[01:14:54] thinking we gotta face everything

[01:14:56] alone and we don't need help

[01:14:58] hovy shifts the vibe

[01:15:00] with a powerful statement

[01:15:02] if it's gonna be me and you then

[01:15:04] it's we against the world

[01:15:06] that unity tackling life together

[01:15:08] can have a profound

[01:15:10] impact on mental health

[01:15:12] and when you talk about mental health

[01:15:14] strength and getting your mind to where it needs to be

[01:15:16] you need unity

[01:15:18] statistics from harvard health

[01:15:20] publishing suggest that strong relationships

[01:15:22] enhance mental health well being

[01:15:24] now andy manyo brings

[01:15:26] the realness emphasizing

[01:15:28] that no man is

[01:15:30] on an island he plants

[01:15:32] a vivid picture of people struggling

[01:15:34] by life's water struggling

[01:15:36] dripping all around

[01:15:38] isolation can harden hearts

[01:15:40] and lead to lasting conflicts

[01:15:42] the lyrics unfold

[01:15:44] the layers of relationships

[01:15:46] acknowledging misunderstandings

[01:15:48] that harden hearts

[01:15:50] but there's a call to figure it out

[01:15:52] to be better together than apart

[01:15:54] unity emerges as a powerful

[01:15:56] force against life curveballs

[01:15:58] unity and collaboration

[01:16:00] are always

[01:16:02] gonna be key points

[01:16:04] to help your mental health well be

[01:16:06] now hovy keeps it real

[01:16:08] about sharing experiences admitting

[01:16:10] it might slow you down a bit

[01:16:12] lead to arguments

[01:16:14] but ultimately cook up into some good stories

[01:16:16] mental health flourishes when

[01:16:18] stories are shared and supported

[01:16:20] in front of other people

[01:16:22] now the course echoes

[01:16:24] the core message

[01:16:26] it's we against the world

[01:16:28] an anthem of togetherness

[01:16:30] resilience and faith in life

[01:16:32] battles united

[01:16:34] listen you're always strong

[01:16:36] united

[01:16:38] that wraps up we against the world

[01:16:40] remember you're not alone on this journey

[01:16:42] reach out

[01:16:44] share your struggles

[01:16:46] and let's tackle the world together

[01:16:48] this is lyrics for the mind

[01:16:50] turning lyrics into life lessons

[01:16:52] Bizzle just signed

[01:16:54] a new artist to guide over money

[01:16:56] too as well if you guys have not been following Bizzle

[01:16:58] on Friday

[01:17:00] he did announce

[01:17:02] that there is a new member

[01:17:04] to the team

[01:17:06] and it's Jonah Daniel

[01:17:08] he's actually in that busting track too as well

[01:17:10] so yeah Jonah Daniel

[01:17:12] is the newest member

[01:17:14] to guide over money

[01:17:16] so yeah we already know

[01:17:18] some new heap out to be probably on the way

[01:17:20] diced I know

[01:17:22] he teased the submit to God track

[01:17:24] so I don't know if that's just a promo

[01:17:26] or yeah yeah

[01:17:28] I think that thing is out already now

[01:17:30] that's the submit to God by Jonah Daniel

[01:17:32] that's probably the first

[01:17:34] selection single

[01:17:36] from him

[01:17:38] being a part of the guide over money

[01:17:40] movement and all I gotta say

[01:17:42] Jonah you have to have some bars

[01:17:44] if Bizzle picks you up

[01:17:46] you can rap

[01:17:48] Bizzle ain't never kept nobody around him

[01:17:50] that can't rap for real

[01:17:52] I'm talking about rap at a high level

[01:17:54] and he was well like

[01:17:56] lyrical bar spitters

[01:17:58] so salute to you Jonah man

[01:18:00] we praying for your man

[01:18:02] shout out to you Bizzle

[01:18:04] and somebody new to the team

[01:18:06] what's your thoughts on that dice

[01:18:08] I love that

[01:18:10] people be hating on Bizzle for no reason

[01:18:12] I love Bizzle

[01:18:14] I mean I've always loved Bizzle

[01:18:16] this is what I want to say

[01:18:18] I think our artists

[01:18:20] who we've kind of had

[01:18:22] grown a lot

[01:18:24] this man has grown

[01:18:26] matter of fact he's held that torch

[01:18:28] when we didn't hold that torch

[01:18:30] you gotta put some respect on Bizzle's name

[01:18:32] he's been a boss and of course

[01:18:34] some people have thrown shade his way

[01:18:36] or had something to say about whatever

[01:18:38] but he's been steadily

[01:18:40] on the same thing

[01:18:42] not bending, standing on truth

[01:18:44] and standing on business and I love that

[01:18:46] so I'm excited for them

[01:18:48] it's gonna be good

[01:18:50] and we got a lot of new other artists that are up

[01:18:52] and coming too as well so y'all just listen

[01:18:54] if y'all not tapping to

[01:18:56] well just in general I'm just reminding people about

[01:18:58] every Friday how we do the winning prescription

[01:19:00] and we introducing all these new artists

[01:19:02] every single Friday so

[01:19:04] if this is your first time tuning in

[01:19:06] shout out to everybody on the west coast just waking up with us

[01:19:08] every Friday we do

[01:19:10] a winning prescription

[01:19:12] we have ten songs that we review

[01:19:14] we have six categories

[01:19:16] we have a one through 13 mic scale

[01:19:18] and we talk about everything that goes into it

[01:19:20] ministry driven is the originality

[01:19:22] creativity about it, the production

[01:19:24] the bars beyond on it

[01:19:26] so yes tune in so you can find

[01:19:28] new artists or maybe some gyms

[01:19:30] that you didn't even know about

[01:19:32] some of your favorite artists

[01:19:34] that you had no idea oh I didn't know they did that record

[01:19:36] I heard it before

[01:19:38] maybe I haven't heard that record before

[01:19:40] so yeah tap in every Friday for the winning prescriptions

[01:19:42] cause we music heavy

[01:19:44] how good was that conversation

[01:19:46] we just talking about it lack of discipline

[01:19:48] within the marriage and I think we need to continue to grow

[01:19:50] we need to

[01:19:52] definitely self reflect

[01:19:54] and see what we can do and how we can get better

[01:19:56] when it comes to self control

[01:19:58] making sure that we are doing things

[01:20:00] not for selfish motives

[01:20:02] but understanding that we're doing things

[01:20:04] to please our spouses

[01:20:06] again we want to show the marriage off in a way

[01:20:08] that God would be pleased

[01:20:10] but also other people will see the glory

[01:20:12] on that marriage

[01:20:14] I think I want to get married cause I see

[01:20:16] that glow on y'all

[01:20:18] I see y'all talk pretty decent to each other

[01:20:20] y'all ain't all talking all foxy to each other

[01:20:22] ooh you know something

[01:20:24] I'm just saying I mean cause it take discipline

[01:20:26] dice not to you know

[01:20:28] chew your husband out or chew your wife out

[01:20:30] I mean you got to discipline yourself to

[01:20:32] make sure you keep going home every day

[01:20:34] you know I'm just saying it takes discipline

[01:20:36] to make sure you do right by

[01:20:38] your spouse so yeah

[01:20:40] this is a real conversation we need to continue to have

[01:20:42] and grow from

[01:20:44] I love it

[01:20:46] I mean we're called to submit to each other

[01:20:48] and definitely love each other

[01:20:50] like Christ loves the church and we already know

[01:20:52] how Christ feels about the church

[01:20:54] there's nothing he won't do for the church

[01:20:56] and so you know

[01:20:58] if you think you've fallen out of love

[01:21:00] fall back in love find something else to fall in love with

[01:21:02] just reinvent your marriage

[01:21:04] that's my tip for you today

[01:21:06] for those of you who are in this love season

[01:21:08] coming out of cuff and season

[01:21:10] or you in Valentine's Day

[01:21:12] whatever it is

[01:21:14] if you're married man go ahead

[01:21:16] and make that thing refresh

[01:21:18] go take a vacation together

[01:21:20] don't tell nobody

[01:21:22] don't answer your phone

[01:21:24] spend some time together cause I'm gonna be real

[01:21:26] you gotta spend time with each other

[01:21:28] that's super important so

[01:21:30] if you got somebody it's a gift

[01:21:32] trust me it's a gift so y'all hold on

[01:21:34] hold tight okay?

[01:21:36] absolutely and shout out to our

[01:21:38] Central Detox interview with our brother Michael J. Patterson

[01:21:41] listen super talented screenwriter

[01:21:43] actor

[01:21:45] he got a little preach in him too as well

[01:21:47] you might have seen him in some films like

[01:21:49] Million of One, Ice Man

[01:21:51] Book One, Imposter

[01:21:53] like yeah you know he's played in a lot of

[01:21:55] films a lot of series

[01:21:57] and yes again

[01:21:59] I am just pumped because

[01:22:01] we actually have some

[01:22:03] actors who understand that it's

[01:22:05] a business but also

[01:22:07] they can choose if they want to continue

[01:22:09] to do business or take certain roles

[01:22:11] and not just

[01:22:13] take it just because they need to check

[01:22:15] and they trust in God a little bit more so

[01:22:17] I appreciate him coming on and sharing that perspective today

[01:22:19] that yes he wants to be more

[01:22:21] worked up in God

[01:22:23] compared to just taking a check because

[01:22:25] you know he can get millions of dollars for taking a role

[01:22:27] or you know whatever it may be so

[01:22:29] yeah that's it alright y'all

[01:22:31] we love y'all we gonna catch y'all tomorrow
