Joseph Born, “Joe,” is joining us from the frozen lands of Alaska. Joe, who is half Alaska Native himself, shares how his early childhood abuse shaped his life and highlights the systems that failed to protect him. He also discusses how his mental health diagnoses and addictions relate to his abuse. And the challenges they presented during trauma therapy. Joe hopes to share with the world the unique aspects of CSA in Alaska – including its geography, cultural factors, and the ugly truth of intrafamilial abuse.
EXTRA Trigger Warning: While editing this episode, I felt myself being triggered moreso than other episodes. Practice Self-care while listening/viewing.
