[00:03:31] Okay.

[00:03:32] Heck yeah.

[00:03:34] I'm ready for this episode. What is the gospel?

[00:03:37] Good.

[00:03:39] How you doing?

[00:03:40] Heck yeah, dude.

[00:03:41] Good.

[00:03:42] But, you know, doing okay, you know, in light of life, but I've been better in light of daily struggles with my shoulder.

[00:03:52] I've had a lot of pain going on recently.

[00:03:57] And it's kind of unbearable right now.

[00:04:00] So, trying to work it out and exercise and do certain things like that to really get a handle on what's going on here.

[00:04:11] And I've got all my music stuff thrown around me right here.

[00:04:15] So, this was from last night. I was sitting here recording certain things and got the guitar over here, the interface, which I plug into right here, and my computer and the TV right behind this.

[00:04:29] So, trying, you know, dude, but I could use everybody's prayers for this trouble that I'm going through right now.

[00:04:38] I hear you, man. Let's pray right now.

[00:04:42] Can we do it?

[00:04:42] Thanks. Yeah, let's do that, man.

[00:04:44] Let's do it. Let's just pray for you right now.

[00:04:46] Thank you.

[00:04:48] Father God, we love you. We bless you.

[00:04:51] We thank you so much for being here with us tonight on this episode.

[00:04:54] Thank you for this opportunity to just share your word and give you glory, God.

[00:04:59] We love you.

[00:05:00] We just want to be obedient to you in this show and give you glory and lift you up and make Jesus famous more and more.

[00:05:12] And we want to share the gospel with this show.

[00:05:14] So, God, we just pray for anybody listening.

[00:05:19] And most importantly, I just want to pray for Luke's shoulder for healing.

[00:05:23] We know that you are the healer.

[00:05:25] You are the ultimate doctor.

[00:05:26] You can heal anybody if willing.

[00:05:30] And, God, we just ask that and pray for Luke and all his situations, all his circumstances, that you will give him peace and joy.

[00:05:38] Your will is to help him through these situations that he's going through physically and mentally and spiritually.

[00:05:45] God, we ask for your power, for your spirit to just come into our lives more and more.

[00:05:54] Please, we need our cups filled tonight and for this weekend and just for this show.

[00:06:01] And, God, we love you.

[00:06:03] We thank you for your healing powers.

[00:06:04] We thank you for your love.

[00:06:06] And we thank you that we can come to you when situations like this are happening, when we have physical issues, that we can bring them to you and ask for healing.

[00:06:22] And, God, we love you.

[00:06:23] We continue to heal our spiritual wellness as well, God.

[00:06:28] We ask that you continue to work on our hearts and help us repent as a lifestyle, God.

[00:06:35] We just love you.

[00:06:36] And we thank you for this show.

[00:06:37] And we thank you for your love and your grace.

[00:06:40] God, Holy Spirit, please speak through us and to us tonight.

[00:06:43] And, yeah, just remind Luke that he's loved and that you're with him and guiding him and that you know his struggles and his pains, pain more than he does.

[00:06:55] So I pray all these things in the name of the Son, Yeshua.

[00:06:59] Amen.

[00:07:02] Thanks, dude.

[00:07:03] That was a good blessing.

[00:07:04] Awesome, man.

[00:07:05] Yeah, I just felt led to just pray for you right then.

[00:07:13] Well, thanks, dude.

[00:07:15] I definitely appreciate that.

[00:07:16] I can feel the love.

[00:07:19] That's awesome, man.

[00:07:20] I hope the shoulder gets better.

[00:07:22] Thanks, man.

[00:07:23] And your circumstances as well.

[00:07:26] Oh, of course.

[00:07:27] Yeah, thank you.

[00:07:28] Yeah.

[00:07:29] Glad you're here.

[00:07:30] Glad anybody who is listening to us is here with us.

[00:07:36] I think it's a special episode.

[00:07:39] We're going to talk about what is the gospel.

[00:07:42] And the idea behind this has been just in the last year.

[00:07:52] I was.

[00:07:54] I was about almost exactly a year ago, I think.

[00:07:57] I think actually this week, exactly a year ago, which is weird.

[00:08:01] I was at the, I was at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City.

[00:08:06] And I was just sitting there.

[00:08:09] If many of you don't know, they just they play worship music 24 seven, just around the clock.

[00:08:13] And you can just you can come and go as you please.

[00:08:17] There's lots of, you know, homeless people that come in and just pray and lots of students and just random people that just come and go and listen to the worship music.

[00:08:26] And the musicians kind of just like.

[00:08:32] And I was sitting there and I audibly heard God say, I need you to learn how to articulate the gospel.

[00:08:40] And I went, OK, like I was like, I know what the gospel is.

[00:08:44] And then I started to sit there and be like, well, I don't really know how to explain what that means, like in a in a way that maybe is easy to understand or easy to to share.

[00:08:57] And I just thought that it's interesting that Jesus gave us a command to go into the ends of the earth and share the gospel.

[00:09:06] And Pastor Manny Montgomery talked about he said one of the one of the biggest issues in like the Christian church and like young adults or Christians in the church is many of them don't even know how to articulate the gospel or what the gospel even is.

[00:09:20] And these are Christians.

[00:09:22] And that's like that's our you know, that's our command to go into the world and share the gospel.

[00:09:26] And I think it's important that we know how to share it in a way that's understandable.

[00:09:35] But also, I think if we learn to articulate it, I think it gives us an ability to to like manifest the gospel more and more.

[00:09:45] So the more and more I learn about how to speak the gospel, it comes into my heart each each time, like more and more.

[00:09:54] And it's something that I think it's a message that we should never graduate from or, you know, lose excitement over or lose zeal over the message.

[00:10:11] So.

[00:10:13] Yeah, so that came to me.

[00:10:14] I just came to me out of nowhere was it was maybe we should just talk about it on the show.

[00:10:22] Yeah, dude, that's amazing because I don't think we've ever talked about it.

[00:10:26] Specifically, but the entirety of the Bible comprised of 66 books by 40 different men on three continents, three different continents over a span of 1500 years in three languages.

[00:10:45] Has 63,779 cross references between the Old Testament and the New Testament.

[00:10:54] And some of them between the Old and the New Testament themselves.

[00:11:00] But if you look at any other document in history, you can't compare it to this document and say, oh, yeah, that's pretty close.

[00:11:09] This is normal.

[00:11:11] This is not normal.

[00:11:12] This is supernatural.

[00:11:14] There's no way that God didn't inspire this book to be written, to be collected with all these different writings.

[00:11:22] And, you know, the amount of cross references about Messiah and who the Messiah was and what the Messiah would go through and what believers will go through after Messiah dies and resurrects is phenomenal.

[00:11:40] And it's just playing out every single day that we're alive.

[00:11:44] It's playing out and we don't realize it.

[00:11:47] But if you look in scripture, you can look in Revelation and different things.

[00:11:51] You start to see that your present day as a believer or as a nonbeliever, it talks about those people also and what they will be doing in these days.

[00:12:04] You know, it's the last days, according to all of these cross references.

[00:12:10] So, yeah, I forgot to kind of look at some of the cross references that are pointing at Jesus.

[00:12:15] But I mostly today was looking at the New Testament.

[00:12:24] But first, I wanted to share that.

[00:12:27] I don't know if many people know, but like.

[00:12:30] First of all, the gospel isn't just a genre of music.

[00:12:36] Same with like worship.

[00:12:38] It's like.

[00:12:39] It's like worship doesn't.

[00:12:40] I was having to tell somebody like worship doesn't just mean like.

[00:12:48] Contemporary music.

[00:12:50] It's like it's a lifestyle.

[00:12:52] Right.

[00:12:52] And so it's like gospel doesn't mean.

[00:12:56] Gospel music.

[00:12:57] It's it's it means good news.

[00:12:59] It means.

[00:13:02] Yeah, good.

[00:13:02] The good news.

[00:13:03] So I just think that's something that I just wanted to point out there is.

[00:13:08] That's something that I thought of when I was younger was like, oh, yeah, gospel music.

[00:13:13] It's not the that's not the whole thing.

[00:13:16] It's like country music or something.

[00:13:18] And you're not talking about the country, you know?

[00:13:21] Yeah, exactly.

[00:13:25] So, yeah, gospel.

[00:13:29] In Greek, the word is evangelion.

[00:13:33] Which is where we get the word evangelist.

[00:13:38] So technically.

[00:13:40] Technically, I think we are all supposed to be evangelists.

[00:13:45] Like some people think that like only pastors are supposed to teach or something or or whatever.

[00:13:51] But yeah.

[00:13:52] Yeah.

[00:13:53] Yeah.

[00:13:53] So that's where we get the word evangelist is to share is good news.

[00:14:00] And for the it is like and for the old rabbi that I used to have, he would say.

[00:14:07] Look, you know, bring your friend to church day on Sunday or Sunday night.

[00:14:14] That shouldn't be an excuse for you to say, okay, pastor, save my friend or bring my friend to the gospel or save him.

[00:14:24] Bring him to Christ.

[00:14:26] No, that's exactly the opposite of how it works.

[00:14:29] I equip you so you can go out and you can save souls.

[00:14:34] I'm teaching you the word.

[00:14:37] I'm teaching you the truth so that you can go out and teach other people the truth.

[00:14:42] You've got it really backwards.

[00:14:45] You know, like you want a backseat to this.

[00:14:48] You're not you're not taking it seriously.

[00:14:51] You're not you know, if you've received salvation.

[00:14:55] Why wouldn't you want other people to receive salvation like you have?

[00:15:00] And and so on and so on.

[00:15:02] But, you know, if you expect your pastor to save all your friends and your family, they don't have time for all that.

[00:15:11] They have a flock to shepherd.

[00:15:13] They have a church to teach and talk to.

[00:15:18] And that's their job.

[00:15:20] Their job is to equip the flock so they can go out and.

[00:15:25] Teach the gospel to, you know, the unbelievers and the hurting, you know,

[00:15:31] the people that are sinners, you know.

[00:15:36] Just just their lifestyle.

[00:15:38] So.

[00:15:41] Yeah.

[00:15:43] Yeah.

[00:15:44] Exactly.

[00:15:44] Like I think of, you know, there's like the fivefold.

[00:15:50] Ministry positions pretty much.

[00:15:53] In the church.

[00:15:54] In the church.

[00:15:54] Evangelist, pastor, teacher, apostle, prophet.

[00:15:58] But we're all supposed to just be evangelists.

[00:16:02] And I love that you mentioned that because I kind of.

[00:16:05] Because, yeah, that's kind of American Christian culture is.

[00:16:09] OK, we're going to just.

[00:16:10] OK, you're interested in Christianity.

[00:16:13] I'm just going to bring you to church.

[00:16:15] And one of the best things that happened to me.

[00:16:19] Was, yes, I met a pastor at my church.

[00:16:22] But his.

[00:16:23] His.

[00:16:26] His style wasn't to just be like, oh, come to our church and see a sermon from our.

[00:16:31] From.

[00:16:32] From me or from our.

[00:16:34] You know, our.

[00:16:34] Our lead pastor.

[00:16:35] He just was like, let's grab coffee and let's let's talk about your life.

[00:16:39] Let's get to know.

[00:16:40] Let's see, you know, where you're at.

[00:16:44] And.

[00:16:44] Right.

[00:16:44] You know, he.

[00:16:45] You know, one on one.

[00:16:46] I asked questions with him and that was life changing to me.

[00:16:49] That was how.

[00:16:50] And those seem like, you know, just sitting one on one with him.

[00:16:53] It was like the Bible all of a sudden came alive to me and I was able to.

[00:16:57] Understand it in a different way.

[00:17:01] So.

[00:17:01] Yeah.

[00:17:02] Yeah.

[00:17:02] I think that's so important that we we do that as as believers is.

[00:17:06] Um.

[00:17:08] Not just put our skills aside, but we're supposed to be.

[00:17:13] Um.

[00:17:14] We're supposed to be sharing the gospel with with everybody.

[00:17:18] So.

[00:17:20] Right.

[00:17:21] And I mean, honestly.

[00:17:24] Living it out as an example for those to.

[00:17:27] Praise.

[00:17:29] Our father in heaven who they don't know.

[00:17:31] They would glorify God based on our actions because we're so.

[00:17:37] You know, kind.

[00:17:39] We're so.

[00:17:41] Uh.

[00:17:42] Submissive.

[00:17:43] Submissive to their authority.

[00:17:45] You know, we.

[00:17:47] Are.

[00:17:48] Willing to take offense.

[00:17:50] And we don't.

[00:17:52] You know, we don't retaliate.

[00:17:54] Um.

[00:17:55] People notice that and they're like, okay, this guy's different.

[00:17:58] Um.

[00:17:59] If you're like that across the board.

[00:18:02] I mean.

[00:18:02] At least.

[00:18:03] Most of the board.

[00:18:05] And they're like, okay.

[00:18:06] Most people wouldn't take all of it.

[00:18:09] And they wouldn't.

[00:18:10] Uh.

[00:18:11] You know.

[00:18:12] They wouldn't not retaliate or something.

[00:18:15] You know.

[00:18:15] And the fact that you can take offenses.

[00:18:18] And.

[00:18:18] Somebody cuts you off in traffic.

[00:18:20] And you don't have.

[00:18:21] Homp the horn or anything like that.

[00:18:23] Um.

[00:18:24] Or react in any way.

[00:18:26] Um.

[00:18:27] There.

[00:18:27] There's a little trigger in somebody's head.

[00:18:29] Because we're all made of the same spirit.

[00:18:31] They're like, okay.

[00:18:33] It's the first time somebody's done that.

[00:18:35] You know.

[00:18:35] They're looking for a reaction from you.

[00:18:38] And then.

[00:18:39] When they don't get it.

[00:18:40] There.

[00:18:40] Something triggers them.

[00:18:41] And they're like, uh.

[00:18:43] Okay.

[00:18:44] What's wrong with that person?

[00:18:46] They're.

[00:18:46] They're either a serial killer.

[00:18:47] Or they're.

[00:18:48] You know.

[00:18:49] Somebody who doesn't even notice what I'm doing right now.

[00:18:53] And.

[00:18:54] You want the latter.

[00:18:55] So.

[00:18:57] Yeah.

[00:18:57] It looks like we're getting spammed again on our comments, man.

[00:18:59] Like this is.

[00:19:02] I saw that.

[00:19:03] This is becoming a weekly thing, bro.

[00:19:06] Hey.

[00:19:06] That's cool.

[00:19:06] That's all right.

[00:19:07] You know.

[00:19:07] That's a good sign.

[00:19:08] We're getting.

[00:19:11] That's all right.

[00:19:12] Yeah.

[00:19:12] I saw something pop up.

[00:19:14] And I was like.

[00:19:14] Oh.

[00:19:15] You know.

[00:19:15] Coverage has this screen.

[00:19:16] Which is cool.

[00:19:18] You know.

[00:19:18] I want people's comments to be.

[00:19:21] Showcased.

[00:19:22] But.

[00:19:23] You know.

[00:19:25] Somebody's just like.

[00:19:25] Oh yeah.

[00:19:26] There's a new one we can spam.

[00:19:28] You know.

[00:19:28] It's probably a brand new person every single time.

[00:19:31] So.

[00:19:32] You know.

[00:19:32] God bless them.

[00:19:33] Yeah.

[00:19:35] Hopefully.

[00:19:35] Hopefully you get something out of it.

[00:19:37] You took the time to comment.

[00:19:39] And spam.

[00:19:39] Yeah.

[00:19:40] I'll bet they're still watching.

[00:19:42] I hope so.

[00:19:43] I'm sure they look.

[00:19:45] Look at the reaction we have.

[00:19:46] And stuff like this.

[00:19:47] Yeah.

[00:19:49] Cool.

[00:19:53] Yeah.

[00:19:53] So.

[00:19:54] Unless you're spam.

[00:19:55] We'd love to.

[00:19:55] We love your comments.

[00:19:57] But.

[00:20:00] The thing that I was.

[00:20:01] I was thinking of.

[00:20:02] When I was.

[00:20:03] You know.

[00:20:04] Preparing.

[00:20:04] Before.

[00:20:06] Before this episode.

[00:20:07] Was.

[00:20:09] You know.

[00:20:09] One thing that.

[00:20:10] Many of us.

[00:20:12] Maybe that went to churches.

[00:20:13] Or went to like.

[00:20:14] You know.

[00:20:15] You know.

[00:20:15] Big churches.

[00:20:17] Like I did as a.

[00:20:18] As a kid.

[00:20:20] The reason we don't know the gospel.

[00:20:22] Is because I think churches.

[00:20:23] Just aren't really sharing it.

[00:20:25] Authentically.

[00:20:25] And.

[00:20:28] In its proper.

[00:20:31] Proper context.

[00:20:34] Because it's offensive.

[00:20:36] Right.

[00:20:36] The gospel is offensive.

[00:20:39] You know.

[00:20:40] It teaches us that we can't.

[00:20:41] Earn our salvation.

[00:20:42] Into heaven.

[00:20:43] It teaches us that.

[00:20:45] It tells sinners.

[00:20:46] That we're sinners.

[00:20:48] And that's something that I.

[00:20:50] That you know.

[00:20:51] Most.

[00:20:52] Or a lot of.

[00:20:54] A lot of.

[00:20:54] I wouldn't say most.

[00:20:55] But I guess.

[00:20:56] A lot of churches.

[00:20:57] In America.

[00:20:58] Just want to shy away from.

[00:21:00] It's.

[00:21:00] It's.

[00:21:01] You know.

[00:21:01] We don't want to tell sinners.

[00:21:02] That they're sinners.

[00:21:03] We want to tell people that.

[00:21:04] They have good hearts.

[00:21:05] And that they're trying.

[00:21:06] And that they're.

[00:21:09] Loved by God.

[00:21:10] But there's no wrath involved.

[00:21:12] And so that's the thing that.

[00:21:13] I think is interesting with the.

[00:21:14] The gospel messages.

[00:21:15] It's.

[00:21:16] It's offensive.

[00:21:17] Towards people.

[00:21:18] And that's.

[00:21:19] That's the.

[00:21:21] The tough part.

[00:21:22] With it.

[00:21:23] That people don't want to share.

[00:21:26] Especially.

[00:21:27] Massive churches.

[00:21:28] That wants to keep its.

[00:21:32] Tithes going.

[00:21:33] You know.

[00:21:33] You don't want to tell sinners.

[00:21:34] That they're sinners.

[00:21:35] So.

[00:21:36] Or that we were.

[00:21:37] That we're enemies of God.

[00:21:40] Or anything like that.

[00:21:41] Right.

[00:21:43] Right.

[00:21:44] Yeah.

[00:21:46] Yeah.

[00:21:46] And the whole.

[00:21:47] The whole fact that Jesus was.

[00:21:50] Sought to be killed.

[00:21:53] Yeah.

[00:21:53] And then was killed.

[00:21:55] And executed on a cross.

[00:21:58] How do they leave that.

[00:21:59] The whole.

[00:22:01] Context out of.

[00:22:02] The gospel.

[00:22:04] And say.

[00:22:04] Okay.

[00:22:05] Why was he killed?

[00:22:07] And answer that question.

[00:22:08] It's because he was offensive.

[00:22:10] And he did.

[00:22:12] Uproot.

[00:22:13] Their.

[00:22:14] Religiosity.

[00:22:15] And their.

[00:22:16] Orthodoxy.

[00:22:16] Where they thought.

[00:22:18] He was blaspheming.

[00:22:20] You know.

[00:22:20] Yahweh.

[00:22:21] And.

[00:22:22] Claiming to be.

[00:22:24] God's son.

[00:22:25] So.

[00:22:26] Uh.

[00:22:29] And.

[00:22:30] I don't know what else.

[00:22:31] I was going to say with that.

[00:22:33] Yeah.

[00:22:34] You're spot on.

[00:22:35] You're spot on.

[00:22:35] Yeah.

[00:22:35] I was thinking that too.

[00:22:37] You know.

[00:22:38] Um.

[00:22:39] The gospel teaches us.

[00:22:41] That no human can follow.

[00:22:43] The law perfectly.

[00:22:45] You know.

[00:22:46] So.

[00:22:46] Right.

[00:22:46] If we.

[00:22:47] If we think of.

[00:22:49] We think of.

[00:22:51] The gospel as good news.

[00:22:52] We have to hear.

[00:22:53] That there's bad news.

[00:22:54] And it's that.

[00:22:55] God set a standard.

[00:22:57] With.

[00:22:58] The law.

[00:22:59] The old testament law.

[00:23:01] And.

[00:23:04] Um.

[00:23:04] What Jesus was teaching the Pharisees.

[00:23:06] When he was telling them.

[00:23:07] You know.

[00:23:09] If you look at.

[00:23:10] Lustfully at a woman.

[00:23:11] You're already committing adultery.

[00:23:12] In your heart.

[00:23:13] Like he's.

[00:23:13] He's teaching them that like.

[00:23:16] You're failing.

[00:23:17] At keeping the law perfectly.

[00:23:19] Like.

[00:23:20] So quickly.

[00:23:22] Because of our sinful nature.

[00:23:23] Um.

[00:23:25] Mm.

[00:23:26] So.

[00:23:26] We know that the law was like a.

[00:23:28] The old testament law.

[00:23:29] Was giving to.

[00:23:30] Israel.

[00:23:31] And the Jewish people.

[00:23:34] Um.

[00:23:36] As.

[00:23:37] God's standard.

[00:23:38] And we fall short.

[00:23:40] Of it.

[00:23:41] That's.

[00:23:42] Um.

[00:23:42] That was one of the.

[00:23:43] Scriptures I wanted to read.

[00:23:45] Was.

[00:23:46] Uh.

[00:23:47] Romans 3.

[00:23:48] 23.

[00:23:48] For all have sinned.

[00:23:49] And fall short.

[00:23:50] Of the glory of God.

[00:23:51] So.

[00:23:52] Um.

[00:23:53] Yeah.

[00:23:53] So that's the bad news.

[00:23:54] Is we all fall short.

[00:23:56] That's the only.

[00:23:58] That's.

[00:23:59] Uh.

[00:24:00] That was offensive to the Pharisees.

[00:24:02] Right.

[00:24:02] As you were saying.

[00:24:03] Because they were trying to keep it.

[00:24:04] Perfectly.

[00:24:05] Even though they were.

[00:24:06] Living their lives hypocritically.

[00:24:08] And trying to look like they were.

[00:24:10] Keeping the law perfectly.

[00:24:11] Right.

[00:24:11] So.

[00:24:12] Mm-hmm.

[00:24:12] Um.

[00:24:15] Yeah.

[00:24:16] And that's still.

[00:24:16] That's still true today.

[00:24:18] You know.

[00:24:18] We all fall short.

[00:24:19] To this day.

[00:24:20] Every single person does.

[00:24:23] And.

[00:24:23] I think a good.

[00:24:24] Demonstration of this.

[00:24:25] Is the rich man.

[00:24:26] Who.

[00:24:27] Told Jesus.

[00:24:28] You know.

[00:24:29] Or he said.

[00:24:30] I want to follow you.

[00:24:31] And he said.

[00:24:32] Well then.

[00:24:33] Keep all of the commandments.

[00:24:34] And.

[00:24:35] You know.

[00:24:35] That my father has decreed.

[00:24:36] And he said.

[00:24:37] I have kept all of the commandments.

[00:24:39] Since my youth.

[00:24:40] And then.

[00:24:41] And then Jesus.

[00:24:42] Seeing his heart.

[00:24:43] Was just like.

[00:24:44] Sell all of your possessions.

[00:24:46] And follow me.

[00:24:47] And the man was very rich.

[00:24:49] And he went away.

[00:24:50] Very sad.

[00:24:51] Because he was very rich.

[00:24:53] And he had a lot of possessions.

[00:24:55] That he wasn't willing to part with.

[00:24:56] And so.

[00:24:58] He had an idol.

[00:24:59] He had a.

[00:25:00] God of his own.

[00:25:01] That he wasn't willing to follow.

[00:25:02] To follow.

[00:25:04] His.

[00:25:05] Redemption.

[00:25:06] And his savior.

[00:25:07] Messiah.

[00:25:08] And God.

[00:25:09] And.

[00:25:10] You know.

[00:25:10] It's just a good example.

[00:25:12] Of like.

[00:25:12] Hey.

[00:25:13] You might think you're doing everything.

[00:25:14] That you can.

[00:25:16] And you still.

[00:25:17] Are breaking the law.

[00:25:19] You know.

[00:25:19] By.

[00:25:20] Coveting.

[00:25:21] Or having an idol.

[00:25:22] That you don't even realize you have.

[00:25:24] And.

[00:25:25] You know.

[00:25:26] He probably didn't keep all those commandments.

[00:25:28] He said he kept.

[00:25:30] Still.

[00:25:31] Jesus was like.

[00:25:32] Hey.

[00:25:33] You know.

[00:25:33] Sell all of your.

[00:25:34] Your things.

[00:25:35] You know.

[00:25:35] He gave him.

[00:25:36] Kind of an ultimatum.

[00:25:38] And.

[00:25:38] The other disciples.

[00:25:39] Didn't get that ultimatum.

[00:25:41] You know.

[00:25:41] But this man.

[00:25:43] Because of his status.

[00:25:44] And his.

[00:25:45] Riches.

[00:25:46] Jesus was like.

[00:25:47] I can't have you following me.

[00:25:49] If you're still holding on to this God.

[00:25:51] Or this idol.

[00:25:54] Well.

[00:25:54] You got to think that.

[00:25:56] I think with that story.

[00:25:57] I think Jesus really could see.

[00:25:59] Could see his heart posture.

[00:26:02] And he probably knew.

[00:26:04] That guy's probably going to walk away.

[00:26:05] Or he probably already knew.

[00:26:07] Maybe he was going to walk away.

[00:26:08] Eventually.

[00:26:10] Maybe once things got hard.

[00:26:12] You know.

[00:26:13] Like.

[00:26:14] Like a lot of people do.

[00:26:17] Yeah.

[00:26:18] Totally.

[00:26:19] Like that story.

[00:26:21] Always kind of.

[00:26:22] That.

[00:26:24] Always.

[00:26:25] Shocks me a little bit.

[00:26:26] It's like.

[00:26:27] Jesus.

[00:26:27] Will turn away.

[00:26:31] People.

[00:26:32] And there are requirements.

[00:26:34] To follow Jesus.

[00:26:34] It's not like.

[00:26:37] It's not like.

[00:26:38] Again.

[00:26:39] It's not like American Christianity.

[00:26:41] Where we just.

[00:26:41] We just say a prayer.

[00:26:43] And then we're good.

[00:26:44] It's like.

[00:26:44] No.

[00:26:44] There are requirements.

[00:26:45] That we have to.

[00:26:46] We have to do.

[00:26:47] We have to give up.

[00:26:49] Our idols.

[00:26:49] That we're following.

[00:26:52] Repent.

[00:26:54] So.

[00:26:56] Yeah.

[00:26:57] No.

[00:26:57] Absolutely.

[00:26:58] And yeah.

[00:26:58] He shows himself.

[00:26:59] To these people.

[00:27:01] Who.

[00:27:02] Have a chance.

[00:27:03] To follow him.

[00:27:04] Like.

[00:27:05] The amount of people.

[00:27:06] That I've seen.

[00:27:07] Have visions of Jesus.

[00:27:08] Who were.

[00:27:09] You know.

[00:27:10] Devout Muslim.

[00:27:11] Followers.

[00:27:13] People that were.

[00:27:14] Demonic followers.

[00:27:15] That follow the devil.

[00:27:17] And they.

[00:27:18] Were crying.

[00:27:19] Because they couldn't believe.

[00:27:20] Jesus showed himself to them.

[00:27:22] And that they.

[00:27:23] You know.

[00:27:23] He never believed in him.

[00:27:25] And was crying.

[00:27:27] Saying.

[00:27:27] I can't.

[00:27:28] I can't accept this.

[00:27:29] Because I never believed in you.

[00:27:31] And Jesus said.

[00:27:33] You never.

[00:27:34] Took the opportunity.

[00:27:36] Or you know.

[00:27:37] Gave.

[00:27:37] Me a chance.

[00:27:39] You know.

[00:27:39] And so the grace is still there.

[00:27:41] The mercy is still there.

[00:27:43] But.

[00:27:45] You know.

[00:27:45] There is a certain point.

[00:27:47] Of decision.

[00:27:48] And.

[00:27:49] Not saying that you won't.

[00:27:51] You know.

[00:27:52] Be.

[00:27:53] Given that blessing.

[00:27:54] Over and over again.

[00:27:56] You know.

[00:27:57] Probably a thousand times in your life.

[00:27:58] And you don't even realize it.

[00:28:00] But.

[00:28:01] You know.

[00:28:02] There's just.

[00:28:03] There's.

[00:28:03] There's tons of examples for that.

[00:28:05] So.

[00:28:06] You know.

[00:28:07] This.

[00:28:07] This man.

[00:28:08] Probably had.

[00:28:09] Many.

[00:28:10] Many.

[00:28:11] Many.

[00:28:11] Many.

[00:28:12] Many.

[00:28:12] More times to think about.

[00:28:14] Okay.

[00:28:15] This man.

[00:28:16] Was doing all these miracles.

[00:28:17] And.

[00:28:18] Claiming to be the son of God.

[00:28:20] And.

[00:28:21] You know.

[00:28:21] I wasn't willing.

[00:28:22] He probably.

[00:28:23] Regretted that decision.

[00:28:24] To not follow him.

[00:28:26] After he saw all the things.

[00:28:27] That they did.

[00:28:28] So also.

[00:28:30] We're thinking.

[00:28:31] You know.

[00:28:33] So despite.

[00:28:36] Despite anything that we do.

[00:28:39] All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

[00:28:42] And the wages of sin.

[00:28:45] Is death.

[00:28:47] And so.

[00:28:48] I guess we're kind of going through the stages here.

[00:28:51] The gospel is.

[00:28:54] God had a plan to.

[00:28:59] To.

[00:29:01] Help us out.

[00:29:02] Right.

[00:29:04] Mm-hmm.

[00:29:05] Yeah.

[00:29:10] So I guess.

[00:29:11] So.

[00:29:11] All right.

[00:29:12] So.

[00:29:13] Sin.

[00:29:15] Separates us from God.

[00:29:16] Right.

[00:29:17] And so we.

[00:29:20] We need that reconciliation.

[00:29:22] And so Jesus was.

[00:29:23] Is that reconciliation.

[00:29:25] And I.

[00:29:25] And.

[00:29:29] And this whole time.

[00:29:30] God was teaching Israel.

[00:29:31] That in order to be reconciled.

[00:29:33] And forgiven of our sins.

[00:29:35] We had to.

[00:29:37] Offer an animal sacrifice.

[00:29:38] It was always.

[00:29:39] It was always blood.

[00:29:40] That would.

[00:29:41] Purify their sins for.

[00:29:43] A year.

[00:29:44] Mm-hmm.

[00:29:45] Right.

[00:29:46] And so.

[00:29:46] All these.

[00:29:47] All these traditions that were.

[00:29:49] In the Old Testament.

[00:29:51] They were all pointing.

[00:29:52] To Jesus.

[00:29:53] And what.

[00:29:54] He was going to be the ultimate sacrifice.

[00:29:56] For our sins.

[00:29:57] Right.

[00:30:00] Yes.

[00:30:01] So.

[00:30:01] Yeah.

[00:30:01] So I.

[00:30:02] I just love that.

[00:30:03] The.

[00:30:06] Yeah.

[00:30:07] We.

[00:30:07] A lot of us think that.

[00:30:08] There's an Old Testament God.

[00:30:09] New Testament God.

[00:30:10] And it's like.

[00:30:10] No.

[00:30:11] We.

[00:30:11] We see God.

[00:30:12] Just continually showing the Jewish people.

[00:30:14] Like.

[00:30:14] What he's going to do.

[00:30:16] In the.

[00:30:16] In the future.

[00:30:17] And.

[00:30:18] He taught them that.

[00:30:19] That.

[00:30:24] That blood was the requirement.

[00:30:26] For.

[00:30:27] Forgiveness.

[00:30:28] And so we got that with.

[00:30:29] So Jesus's death on the cross.

[00:30:31] And.

[00:30:32] He's the only innocent.

[00:30:36] Sinless man.

[00:30:37] So he was able to fulfill.

[00:30:40] God's.

[00:30:43] God's wrath.

[00:30:48] Yeah.

[00:30:49] Yeah.

[00:30:50] But yeah.

[00:30:51] It's just.

[00:30:54] Yeah.

[00:30:55] I don't know.

[00:30:55] Just going through it.

[00:30:56] Just.

[00:30:56] You know.

[00:30:57] These are basic.

[00:30:58] Things that I think that Christians.

[00:31:00] Think they know.

[00:31:01] But I think we forget to meditate on.

[00:31:03] These things.

[00:31:04] And we forget to remind ourselves.

[00:31:06] Of these things.

[00:31:07] And I have.

[00:31:08] I have a hard time.

[00:31:10] Even reading these things.

[00:31:12] Because it just hits my heart.

[00:31:13] In a way that.

[00:31:15] I'm reminded.

[00:31:17] Again and again.

[00:31:19] Well.

[00:31:19] I mean.

[00:31:20] It gives you.

[00:31:20] It gives you hope.

[00:31:21] For.

[00:31:22] Eternity.

[00:31:23] And hope for the future.

[00:31:24] Because.

[00:31:27] I'll tell you right now.

[00:31:28] I think.

[00:31:30] You know.

[00:31:31] When I went over to Israel.

[00:31:32] I had a Jewish.

[00:31:34] Messianic.

[00:31:35] Which means.

[00:31:36] Follower.

[00:31:37] Follower of Christ.

[00:31:40] Toward God.

[00:31:41] Who took us around for two weeks.

[00:31:42] And he was really good.

[00:31:44] Explaining all the history.

[00:31:45] And everything.

[00:31:46] Around it.

[00:31:47] But he would always give a tinge.

[00:31:49] Of messianic.

[00:31:50] You know.

[00:31:51] Scripture.

[00:31:52] To the area.

[00:31:53] And say.

[00:31:53] This is when Jesus did this.

[00:31:55] Or when somebody.

[00:31:56] Who meant Jesus did this.

[00:31:58] And I'm like.

[00:31:59] Oh my gosh.

[00:32:00] And you know.

[00:32:01] I've heard this interpretation.

[00:32:02] A lot of times.

[00:32:04] You know.

[00:32:05] Animal sacrifice.

[00:32:07] Was.

[00:32:08] Sufficient.

[00:32:09] For the penalty of sin.

[00:32:11] For the Jewish people.

[00:32:13] It was not sufficient.

[00:32:15] For the guilt.

[00:32:17] And for the.

[00:32:18] Lasting.

[00:32:20] Stain.

[00:32:21] That it had.

[00:32:22] On our minds.

[00:32:23] Our hearts.

[00:32:24] And our conscience.

[00:32:25] And only the.

[00:32:27] Pure son of God.

[00:32:30] Potentially.

[00:32:31] Take away.

[00:32:32] We have to grab it.

[00:32:33] We can't just.

[00:32:34] Speak it over ourselves.

[00:32:36] And then it's so.

[00:32:37] You know.

[00:32:38] We have to believe in it.

[00:32:39] We have to take hold of it.

[00:32:41] Um.

[00:32:42] But.

[00:32:43] He's able to wash away.

[00:32:45] The penalty.

[00:32:46] This.

[00:32:47] You know.

[00:32:47] The guilt.

[00:32:48] Um.

[00:32:49] The shame.

[00:32:50] And everything.

[00:32:51] That comes with it.

[00:32:52] You know.

[00:32:52] When he says.

[00:32:53] When God says.

[00:32:54] He doesn't remember your sins.

[00:32:56] You know.

[00:32:57] He casts him as far as the east is from the west.

[00:32:59] Which is infinity.

[00:33:01] Um.

[00:33:02] You know.

[00:33:03] If you bring up your sins to God.

[00:33:05] He's like.

[00:33:06] I don't know what you're talking about.

[00:33:09] You know.

[00:33:10] And yet we constantly.

[00:33:11] I think.

[00:33:12] Are just like.

[00:33:12] Forgive me.

[00:33:13] Forgive me.

[00:33:13] For these past sins.

[00:33:15] And God's like.

[00:33:16] You just really don't get it.

[00:33:17] Do you?

[00:33:20] Yeah.

[00:33:20] You know.

[00:33:21] Please stop bringing it up.

[00:33:22] Yeah.

[00:33:23] He did it with the people of Israel too.

[00:33:25] Like.

[00:33:25] He.

[00:33:27] God kept saying.

[00:33:28] Oh.

[00:33:28] I see no.

[00:33:29] Uh.

[00:33:29] Blemish.

[00:33:30] In them.

[00:33:31] Even though they were the most like.

[00:33:33] Idolatrous sinful people at that time.

[00:33:36] Mm-hmm.

[00:33:37] Yeah.

[00:33:37] They were his people.

[00:33:37] After they repented.

[00:33:38] Yeah.

[00:33:39] Yeah.

[00:33:39] It's so.

[00:33:40] It's so.

[00:33:41] Wild to me that.

[00:33:43] God's mercy is.

[00:33:46] Um.

[00:33:47] You know.

[00:33:47] Kind of hard to.

[00:33:48] To believe sometimes.

[00:33:50] Even when.

[00:33:50] When you see it in the Old Testament.

[00:33:52] God says he sees no blemish in.

[00:33:54] Israel.

[00:33:55] And you're like.

[00:33:56] What?

[00:33:58] Mm-hmm.

[00:33:59] It's like you had a.

[00:34:00] Like.

[00:34:01] It's like wow.

[00:34:02] His mercy is just.

[00:34:06] It's not how I would do it.

[00:34:08] That's for sure.

[00:34:10] No.

[00:34:12] And I've heard they said.

[00:34:13] You know.

[00:34:13] Thank God.

[00:34:14] That we're not God.

[00:34:17] Uh.

[00:34:17] Because the entire world.

[00:34:19] Would be destroyed by now.

[00:34:21] What was it?

[00:34:21] Paul said.

[00:34:23] I saw it somewhere.

[00:34:25] He says.

[00:34:25] For I'm not ashamed of the gospel.

[00:34:28] Um.

[00:34:29] Because it's.

[00:34:30] It's salvation to the Jew.

[00:34:32] First.

[00:34:32] And the.

[00:34:33] And then the Gentile.

[00:34:36] Uh.

[00:34:36] Right.

[00:34:36] It's like.

[00:34:37] It's like.

[00:34:37] So we shouldn't be.

[00:34:39] We shouldn't be ashamed of any.

[00:34:41] Of what we're talking about tonight.

[00:34:43] Um.

[00:34:44] Yeah.

[00:34:45] Even though.

[00:34:46] Most people don't want to talk about it.

[00:34:48] Or don't want to completely.

[00:34:50] Uh.

[00:34:52] Share what it exactly means.

[00:34:54] Well.

[00:34:55] It means good news.

[00:34:56] Like you said.

[00:34:56] You know.

[00:34:57] Um.

[00:34:59] And uh.

[00:35:00] The cross references you can get.

[00:35:02] Between the Old Testament.

[00:35:04] And New Testament.

[00:35:05] I wish I had a lot of them.

[00:35:06] In front of me.

[00:35:07] But.

[00:35:08] I don't.

[00:35:09] Right now.

[00:35:09] I didn't prepare for that.

[00:35:10] But.

[00:35:11] Um.

[00:35:12] There's a really famous picture.

[00:35:14] That I wanted to have queued up.

[00:35:16] To put on the stream.

[00:35:17] But.

[00:35:18] Um.

[00:35:19] It's a picture of.

[00:35:20] All these different.

[00:35:22] You know.

[00:35:23] Lines.

[00:35:24] They're just going like this.

[00:35:25] It looks like a rainbow.

[00:35:27] Honestly.

[00:35:27] Which is kind of weird.

[00:35:29] But there's.

[00:35:31] Like I said.

[00:35:32] There's.

[00:35:33] Let me look at this real quick.

[00:35:35] Sorry.

[00:35:35] Um.

[00:35:37] Sixty.

[00:35:38] Sixty.

[00:35:40] Thousand.

[00:35:40] Seven hundred.

[00:35:41] And seventy.

[00:35:41] Nine.

[00:35:42] Cross references.

[00:35:43] In the entire Bible.

[00:35:45] So there's.

[00:35:45] Sixty.

[00:35:46] Thousand.

[00:35:47] Seven hundred.

[00:35:47] And seventy.

[00:35:48] Nine.

[00:35:49] Lines.

[00:35:49] Going like this.

[00:35:50] And it looks like a constellation.

[00:35:53] Slash rainbow.

[00:35:54] If you can believe that.

[00:35:56] From.

[00:35:56] You know.

[00:35:57] The rainbow.

[00:35:57] That we know of.

[00:35:58] And it's just like.

[00:36:00] And those are lines.

[00:36:02] Comparing.

[00:36:02] Each book.

[00:36:03] Along the.

[00:36:04] Along the timeline.

[00:36:05] Of Genesis.

[00:36:06] Through Revelation.

[00:36:08] It's the most unbelievable picture.

[00:36:09] I mean.

[00:36:10] There's.

[00:36:12] I.

[00:36:12] I've heard of.

[00:36:14] People seeing that picture.

[00:36:16] And being like.

[00:36:17] Okay.

[00:36:17] Maybe the Bible.

[00:36:19] Is the word of God.

[00:36:19] Because there's no way.

[00:36:20] A book.

[00:36:22] Like this.

[00:36:22] Could be written.

[00:36:24] Especially.

[00:36:25] Right.

[00:36:25] The time span.

[00:36:27] Of.

[00:36:28] Fifteen hundred years.

[00:36:29] And all the different.

[00:36:30] All the different authors.

[00:36:34] How many did you say?

[00:36:35] There is.

[00:36:36] Forty.

[00:36:37] Forty.

[00:36:37] There's forty different.

[00:36:39] Yeah.

[00:36:39] Forty different authors.

[00:36:40] Forty different.

[00:36:41] From different cultures.

[00:36:42] Different cultures.

[00:36:43] Different eras.

[00:36:44] Different generations.

[00:36:45] Different languages.

[00:36:47] Yeah.

[00:36:47] We get that many.

[00:36:48] We get that many cross references.

[00:36:51] Mm-hmm.

[00:36:52] It's like.

[00:36:53] Come on now.

[00:36:55] Uh.

[00:36:56] It's the most.

[00:36:58] Succinct.

[00:36:58] Document.

[00:36:59] That we have.

[00:37:00] In our entire history.

[00:37:02] At this point.

[00:37:04] In our lives.

[00:37:05] Um.

[00:37:06] There's nothing that comes close to it.

[00:37:08] Um.

[00:37:10] And I've heard a lot of atheists say.

[00:37:12] If I had to choose a religion.

[00:37:13] If I was really held to choose a religion.

[00:37:15] It would be Christianity.

[00:37:17] Because it's the only religion that offers a personal relationship with a creator.

[00:37:23] Um.

[00:37:24] That created.

[00:37:25] Us.

[00:37:26] For a purpose.

[00:37:27] And I'm just like.

[00:37:29] Oh my gosh.

[00:37:30] They're really.

[00:37:31] Really close to figuring.

[00:37:33] Something out.

[00:37:34] And probably more than I have.

[00:37:36] You know.

[00:37:37] I just think that all the time also.

[00:37:38] You know.

[00:37:39] Not to.

[00:37:40] Speak ill of.

[00:37:42] Uh.

[00:37:42] My walk.

[00:37:43] Or my faith.

[00:37:43] But I'm just like.

[00:37:44] You know.

[00:37:45] That fresh.

[00:37:47] You know.

[00:37:48] Perspective on things.

[00:37:49] Where you're just like.

[00:37:51] Humbled by the fact.

[00:37:52] That you are a sinner.

[00:37:53] And you need to be forgiven.

[00:37:55] I'm like.

[00:37:57] I'm kind of.

[00:37:58] You know.

[00:37:59] Jealous of that.

[00:38:00] I'm in awe of it.

[00:38:01] You know.

[00:38:02] And so.

[00:38:03] When somebody gets baptized.

[00:38:04] Or something like that.

[00:38:05] At a certain age.

[00:38:07] Like my.

[00:38:08] You know.

[00:38:08] I think back to when I got baptized.

[00:38:10] Which was like 10 or 11.

[00:38:12] You know.

[00:38:13] Which is.

[00:38:14] That age.

[00:38:14] I think.

[00:38:16] You know.

[00:38:17] You want to believe all the good.

[00:38:18] In the world.

[00:38:19] And you haven't been exposed.

[00:38:20] To all the evil.

[00:38:23] As much as I have.

[00:38:24] By this point in my life.

[00:38:27] So I think there's a.

[00:38:28] Higher tendency.

[00:38:30] For you to accept.

[00:38:31] The gospel.

[00:38:32] And accept.

[00:38:33] Christ.

[00:38:34] In that light.

[00:38:36] Right.

[00:38:37] Amen.

[00:38:38] You know.

[00:38:38] And I.

[00:38:40] One of the.

[00:38:43] One of the statements.

[00:38:44] I've heard too.

[00:38:45] Is.

[00:38:46] You know.

[00:38:47] The gospel is the only.

[00:38:49] Answer.

[00:38:49] We have.

[00:38:50] To our fallenness.

[00:38:51] And.

[00:38:52] And to our.

[00:38:53] You know.

[00:38:54] Our.

[00:38:56] To the evil.

[00:38:57] Of this world.

[00:38:59] It's like.

[00:39:00] Every religion.

[00:39:01] Says.

[00:39:01] You know.

[00:39:02] Be kind to people.

[00:39:03] Be nice to people.

[00:39:04] Do good things.

[00:39:06] You know.

[00:39:07] There's pretty much a universal.

[00:39:09] Like.

[00:39:11] Be good to one another.

[00:39:12] Or do good things.

[00:39:14] Yeah.

[00:39:16] Yeah.

[00:39:16] For most of them anyway.

[00:39:17] Um.

[00:39:20] And.

[00:39:21] We.

[00:39:24] And.

[00:39:24] Christianity.

[00:39:25] Is the only.

[00:39:25] Answer.

[00:39:26] To.

[00:39:26] That says.

[00:39:27] Hey.

[00:39:28] We failed miserably.

[00:39:29] With that.

[00:39:30] What do we do about that?

[00:39:32] What do we do?

[00:39:33] It's like.

[00:39:34] Yeah.

[00:39:34] It's like.

[00:39:34] Yeah.

[00:39:35] I want to be kind to people.

[00:39:36] I want to love people.

[00:39:38] But what about the times.

[00:39:39] When I wasn't.

[00:39:40] Mm-hmm.

[00:39:41] You know.

[00:39:42] What about the times.

[00:39:42] When.

[00:39:43] We.

[00:39:45] We did.

[00:39:46] Make mistakes.

[00:39:47] What about the times.

[00:39:48] Uh.

[00:39:49] You know.

[00:39:50] We did lie.

[00:39:51] Cheat.

[00:39:51] And steal.

[00:39:52] What about those times?

[00:39:53] Um.

[00:39:54] And when we're going to.

[00:39:55] In the future.

[00:39:56] Yeah.

[00:39:57] Yeah.

[00:39:57] Exactly.

[00:39:58] Exactly.

[00:39:59] Um.

[00:40:00] It's like.

[00:40:00] Christianity is the only.

[00:40:03] Uh.

[00:40:04] Is the only.

[00:40:05] Uh.

[00:40:06] Answer.

[00:40:06] That is outside of ourselves.

[00:40:08] Like everything's.

[00:40:09] Uh.

[00:40:10] Everything's like.

[00:40:11] Self-help.

[00:40:12] And.

[00:40:13] And.

[00:40:14] Uh.

[00:40:15] You know.

[00:40:16] Love yourself more.

[00:40:17] And Christianity is the only one that's like.

[00:40:19] You need somebody higher than yourself.

[00:40:21] You need somebody more than yourself.

[00:40:23] And we.

[00:40:24] Uh.

[00:40:25] And we have that answer.

[00:40:26] Um.

[00:40:29] Um.

[00:40:30] You know.

[00:40:33] Absolutely.

[00:40:33] Yeah.

[00:40:34] Jesus is our.

[00:40:35] Substitute for those sins that we.

[00:40:37] Committed.

[00:40:38] And now God sees.

[00:40:42] Uh.

[00:40:42] Us as righteous.

[00:40:43] It's.

[00:40:44] It's.

[00:40:44] You know.

[00:40:45] The substitution.

[00:40:46] Factor is.

[00:40:48] Is.

[00:40:49] God sees us as righteous.

[00:40:51] And with no blemish.

[00:40:52] Just like with the Israel.

[00:40:53] With.

[00:40:53] Uh.

[00:40:54] The Jewish people.

[00:40:55] No.

[00:40:55] Absolutely.

[00:40:56] Dude.

[00:40:56] Uh.

[00:40:56] Yeah.

[00:40:57] And what's interesting to me.

[00:40:58] That I didn't know.

[00:40:59] Until.

[00:41:00] Maybe six years ago.

[00:41:01] When I went to Israel.

[00:41:03] For two weeks.

[00:41:04] The guy.

[00:41:05] Who was a Messianic Jew.

[00:41:07] Around my age.

[00:41:08] Who was our tour guide.

[00:41:10] I told him.

[00:41:11] I asked him a simple.

[00:41:12] Simple question.

[00:41:13] That he would know.

[00:41:14] The answer to.

[00:41:15] I was like.

[00:41:16] Okay.

[00:41:18] How come the Jewish people.

[00:41:20] Don't understand.

[00:41:22] That.

[00:41:23] These believers in Christ.

[00:41:24] Or these believers in.

[00:41:26] Yahweh.

[00:41:27] You know.

[00:41:28] They're God.

[00:41:28] They understand.

[00:41:30] They say.

[00:41:31] We don't have to do animal sacrifices anymore.

[00:41:33] We have a.

[00:41:34] Savior.

[00:41:35] And Messiah.

[00:41:36] And the guy.

[00:41:37] Just.

[00:41:37] Flat out told me.

[00:41:39] If they had a temple.

[00:41:40] They would be doing animal sacrifices.

[00:41:42] Right now.

[00:41:44] Because they don't have a temple.

[00:41:46] They're not doing it.

[00:41:46] And I said.

[00:41:47] Oh my gosh.

[00:41:49] You know.

[00:41:49] That's how committed.

[00:41:50] They are to their religion.

[00:41:52] And.

[00:41:53] If they rebuilt the temple.

[00:41:55] They would start.

[00:41:56] The next day.

[00:41:57] Or.

[00:41:57] The same day.

[00:41:58] And I'm like.

[00:42:00] They really do not believe.

[00:42:02] That there was an ultimate sacrifice.

[00:42:03] That we.

[00:42:05] You know.

[00:42:06] Endured.

[00:42:07] So.

[00:42:09] Definitely.

[00:42:09] Definitely need to pray for that.

[00:42:10] Nation.

[00:42:11] And pray for.

[00:42:13] You know.

[00:42:14] And somebody asked me today too.

[00:42:16] You know.

[00:42:16] What.

[00:42:16] What happens to the Jewish people.

[00:42:19] You know.

[00:42:19] That don't believe in Christ.

[00:42:21] And I pointed them straight to the verse.

[00:42:24] Where God said.

[00:42:25] Abraham's.

[00:42:28] Faith.

[00:42:28] Was credited to him.

[00:42:30] As righteousness.

[00:42:31] Jesus.

[00:42:33] As a sinner.

[00:42:33] Where I think.

[00:42:34] That really spills over to all the other nations that never heard the gospel.

[00:42:38] Or never.

[00:42:39] Because of our own inability.

[00:42:41] Or.

[00:42:43] Inaction.

[00:42:44] Not wanting to.

[00:42:45] You know.

[00:42:45] Spread the gospel.

[00:42:47] That God's grace and mercy covers people.

[00:42:50] Across the globe.

[00:42:52] And.

[00:42:52] And, you know, when I see Abraham, who was the first Jewish person, arguably, because it was a created people by God from his bloodline, you know, which went all the way down to Yeshua being, you know, Jesus being born.

[00:43:10] And that's why they list the genealogy in the first place. But the fact that God said, you know, his or, you know, the book says his faith was credited to him as righteousness. That's really encouraging to me for the rest of the world.

[00:43:30] Well, I think, too, you know, with, you know, Jewish people rejecting Jesus or maybe just not believing, maybe they're, you know, kind of open to it, but they go back to, you know, just their religious tasks that they've always known.

[00:43:44] And that just reminds me of myself or, you know, other Christian believers who we find ourselves kind of doing the same thing. We don't truly believe that God did a new work in us.

[00:44:02] You know, 2 Corinthians 5.17. In Christ, you're a new creation. It's like a lot of us don't believe that. And so, you know, we might believe in Christ, but we still go back to our old ways that we've always known and always done.

[00:44:24] We won't, we won't, we won't let him transform us. We don't spend time in prayer or read his word, or we don't truly believe that he's doing a new work in us, that he's, that what he accomplished on the cross, he actually did. I think we live in a way that we don't actually believe that.

[00:44:45] And so, you know, I don't really, I don't think I, yeah, I don't think I think of like the Jewish faith as, you know, exclusive to that. I think we all kind of, we all kind of do that a little bit in some, in some sense when we're, we go back to our idols that we had before or to our own religious tasks that we did before, even though Christ is calling us up to a new, a new thing.

[00:45:14] Yeah, of course. It's, you know, the familiarity with worldly, I guess, acceptance from the world, just association with certain things that we feel closer to than we are with our creator.

[00:45:41] Because when it says, you know, we were, you know, we cannot be saved by our own power, that we are sinners.

[00:45:54] It's actually absolutely saying that, that we need, we need a savior for our, for our actions and our nature. And of course, absolutely. It's, it's absolutely more tempting to go with the pleasure, I think, you know, over the purpose in our lives.

[00:46:15] Definitely. Yeah, I've heard it. I've heard it said that, I think, who said that? Might've been Matty Montgomery, a guy I listened to a lot. He said, after he got saved, he tried to go back to sin, go back to drinking and partying and hooking up with girls.

[00:46:37] And he said, it just didn't feel right anymore. It was like, it was like putting on a shrunken shirt or like a dirty shrunken shirt that doesn't fit you anymore.

[00:46:47] And I love that analogy. And, uh, I love that analogy, uh, because, you know, we do that a lot. We can, we might go back to what we thought, or we might try to, after, after God is doing a work in us, we might try and go back to, uh, what we, what we knew or what we thought we liked.

[00:47:08] And, um, you know, one of the great things about repenting and, you know, God changing our heart and our desires, uh, is we find out that we start to not like the things that we used to love and we start to hate it or we start to, you know, love the things that God loves and hate the things that God hates.

[00:47:29] Uh, so that's one of the interesting, uh, things that I've, I've found in my life is, um, you know, a lot of the things that I used to do before. Now I hate it, you know, and, and God's put, you know, a desire for things that I, that he loves that I didn't love.

[00:47:53] Um, so yeah, no. And I mean, yeah, no, well, it's absolutely, it's even for people.

[00:48:01] People who weren't even looking for it at the time. It might've been people praying for them around them or something like that.

[00:48:07] There's so many examples of people that had a moment or an incident or an encounter with God and they just decided, man, they just lost all attractiveness to certain lusts or, uh, certain sins.

[00:48:24] I'm not saying they weren't tempted after the fact I'm saying they just did not have a pull like they did before that encounter.

[00:48:33] And, you know, one of two examples in my own family, my grandfather, uh, you know, used to be a really bad alcoholic, uh, used to terrorize everybody.

[00:48:44] Um, you know, drive drunk, you know, get caught driving drunk and, uh, in a tractor trailer and then elude the police and still get away.

[00:48:54] Um, and you know, some guys, you know, grace and, uh, protection kept him away from penalties in this life.

[00:49:03] Um, but one day he got so messed up.

[00:49:07] He used to drink and smoke cigarettes.

[00:49:09] He fell on, on some stairs and cracked his head a little bit, was bleeding everywhere.

[00:49:15] They got him into the hospital.

[00:49:17] He was in a little bit of a coma for a little bit.

[00:49:20] And then when he woke back up, he had no desire to drink alcohol, no desire to smoke cigarettes anymore.

[00:49:27] Something got rewired with that bonk that he received in his head.

[00:49:32] And then the other, the other, uh, example, like father, like son, it was my dad, you know, his, his son, you know, um, had, had the same, uh, experience where, you know, he really went through bad alcoholism.

[00:49:52] And then after going into kind of a sleep or a coma from that, or maybe they induced it because he was so bad, he came out of it and didn't really want to touch it anymore.

[00:50:06] He just was revulsed by it and repulsed and, uh, he reviled it.

[00:50:14] So, um, there's so many stories like this where it's like, this is actually God saving us from our suffering and our sin.

[00:50:25] And we don't even see it.

[00:50:26] We're just like, okay, he finally stopped.

[00:50:30] And you're like, did you, do you understand what kind of a miracle that is for this person who was bound to kill themselves with this substance or, you know, end up committing suicide with their depression?

[00:50:44] Or their anger?

[00:50:46] And, uh, I guess you don't understand the breadth of, you know, what just happened to this person.

[00:50:53] So, um, I think we need to really pay attention to a lot of things that are going on around us and say, wow, you know, there's so many people that did kill themselves and didn't get this chance.

[00:51:07] And the fact that somebody actually made it out alive, you're like, yeah, I don't see why they chose to do that.

[00:51:16] Yeah.

[00:51:16] Me and you both have, um, you know, a lot of alcoholism in our family.

[00:51:20] Um, I mean, mostly a lot of men that grew up in the South and that's just, you know, part of that culture.

[00:51:27] I would, I would say, you know, my family's Texas, here's Georgia.

[00:51:31] And it's just like, yeah.

[00:51:33] And all of them are, and every, everybody in the South is, uh, I was just thinking that, uh, thinking that today is like everybody, everybody that I meet that's from like Mississippi or, you know, Oklahoma, Texas or whatever.

[00:51:52] Everybody that's from the South, they're all Christian, but it's so interesting that you don't see the fruit from their life.

[00:52:01] Uh, a lot of the people that I, that I meet, it's like, it's like a, it's like a thing you just, you just do and say, you're, you know, you're Christian, but we go out and drink every weekend, you know?

[00:52:14] And that's, I don't know.

[00:52:15] I don't know.

[00:52:16] That was a random thought in my, in my brain, but I just, uh, I think a lot of maybe our family grew up that way.

[00:52:22] You know, everybody, everybody went to church, but on Sundays, but there was a lot of, uh, brokenness during the rest of the week.

[00:52:31] Right.

[00:52:31] So.

[00:52:34] Absolutely.

[00:52:34] I mean, on Saturday night getting trashed and then coming in on Sunday hungover, just kind of checking the boxes and, uh,

[00:52:44] you know, absolutely not realizing, uh, you know, just believing something doesn't mean you're living it.

[00:52:53] And, uh, you know, the fruit is being drowned out by the substances and by the actions and the choosing to, uh, you know, act in a simple way and go a different direction than what God wants us to do in life.

[00:53:11] So, uh, as another importance, ask God, you know, to lead us, uh, every day on everything that we do and then everything that we do, do on our own power that is sinful.

[00:53:24] Just go right to repentance and be like, I'm sorry.

[00:53:27] Yeah.

[00:53:28] And I didn't know, um, I just did what I, you know, my flesh thought was right at the moment.

[00:53:33] And, uh, you know, I just pray for more wisdom and more guidance from you and your Holy Spirit.

[00:53:41] Um, so yeah, the South definitely has a heart crisis.

[00:53:45] I'll tell you that much.

[00:53:47] Um, for sure.

[00:53:48] It's, it's absolutely.

[00:53:51] Phariseeical.

[00:53:52] I guess you could say in the South where they were raised in the church.

[00:53:56] And so they feel like there's nothing else for me to do besides claim Christ.

[00:54:03] Every time somebody asks me what religion I am.

[00:54:08] And honestly, that's what the rabbis would do aside from their attire and their dress.

[00:54:14] It was always, you know, they wouldn't claim it in front of the Romans.

[00:54:18] They didn't give a crap.

[00:54:19] You know, they wouldn't share their God with the Romans.

[00:54:23] But anytime somebody Jewish came up, they were the religious leaders, you know, it was all pious and put together, you know, for everybody's eyes.

[00:54:34] Uh, but internally, you know, when Jesus said, uh, hourly, you are whitewashed tombs, but inwardly, you are full of dead man's bones.

[00:54:44] It was talking about the tombs that they would have back then, which were big, circular, uh, stone, whitewashed.

[00:54:54] They would wash them really white and bleach them.

[00:54:56] So that in the evening, people could see them in the dark and the pitch black if the moon was shining off of it.

[00:55:03] Because if you touched a tomb or you touched anything like that, in Jewish law, you were unclean if you touched a tomb or a dead person's body.

[00:55:15] So that's why they were whitewashed so that you could walk in the evening and not accidentally bump into one.

[00:55:21] In which case you would have to go see the priest and you would have to get cleansed from that, uh, you know, touching of the tomb or the body.

[00:55:30] So, um, yeah, his main point was you look good on the outside, you're all pretty and white, but on the inside you've got decaying bones and bodies and rotting flesh, you know, and they couldn't.

[00:55:46] That was one of the instances where they decided to kill him.

[00:55:49] It might've been the first time, I'm not sure.

[00:55:51] But it was definitely one of the instances where they said, we've got to figure out how to get rid of this guy.

[00:55:57] Gosh, I don't know how we're already running out of time, but, um, cause I think this topic's amazing.

[00:56:03] And I just, uh, I just encourage, um, you know, if you're a believer, if you're a follower of Christ, that we should, we should learn the gospel and we should meditate on it.

[00:56:17] Um, especially in times when you feel overwhelmed with maybe life, maybe ministry, things like that.

[00:56:28] Um, yeah.

[00:56:31] So since we're running out of time, I kind of wanted to, I wanted to read the, uh, I wanted to read what I wrote down for what is the gospel.

[00:56:45] Um, when I was sitting there, um, trying to figure out, you know, what, what does that mean?

[00:56:51] Um, a year ago.

[00:56:53] Um, and, um, this is what I feel was, uh, spirit led for sure.

[00:57:00] Um, but it's just, uh, it's just the way I've been able to understand what the gospel is.

[00:57:09] And I just wrote it down and I just would like to read it, I think, before we head out, if that's cool.

[00:57:17] Hey, kid.

[00:57:19] Awesome.

[00:57:20] Okay.

[00:57:20] So I wrote, uh, what is the gospel?

[00:57:22] Question mark.

[00:57:24] And just through, you know, research and, uh, you know, prayer, prayer and reading scripture.

[00:57:30] Uh, this is what came from it.

[00:57:34] So, okay.

[00:57:35] So there is a God who in his perfect glory has created all things with intent and purpose.

[00:57:45] However, you like all men have sinned against God.

[00:57:49] We've abandoned his purpose for us.

[00:57:52] And we made ourselves an object of his wrath.

[00:58:23] But our glorious God is not merely powerful, holy, and just.

[00:58:25] So by faith in Jesus, you can be freed from guilt, healed of shame, and saved, saved from condemnation forever.

[00:58:36] By grace alone, we can have eternal life.

[00:58:40] Amen.

[00:58:42] Amen, dude.

[00:58:43] Amen.

[00:58:43] That's absolutely right.

[00:58:45] I love that.

[00:58:46] I just, uh, you know, that's just something I want to remind myself to read that.

[00:58:51] You know, this, uh, this message of hope of like, you know, what do we do with all this, uh, the evil stuff in this world?

[00:59:02] What do we do for the fallenness?

[00:59:04] It's like this message is salvation and it's available to everyone, you know, no matter, you know, this is, this is a thing that makes Christianity exclusive.

[00:59:14] It's like, you know, this is for anybody, no matter where you're from, no matter where you came from, no matter what you did, um, regardless of your past, regardless of, you know, the religion you grew up in.

[00:59:30] Um, uh, I think of, uh, second, what is it?

[00:59:36] Second Peter or first Peter two nine where Peter talks about how we're, you're a new race.

[00:59:42] You're, you're part of a new family, new kingdom, a new culture, uh, the kingdom of God.

[00:59:51] And so it's for everybody.

[00:59:53] It's a message for everybody.

[00:59:54] So I don't know.

[00:59:57] I get fired up thinking about that.

[00:59:59] It's, it's exciting to me.

[01:00:02] So it's totally different.

[01:00:04] It's, it's, uh, if Paul had a message, it would be, you know, I think he was a, he was a apostle to the Jews and the Gentiles.

[01:00:14] And so he covered all the bases.

[01:00:16] If he had a total message, it would be Jew and Gentile, which is non-Jew in the world are one new man under Messiah.

[01:00:26] There is no more division between the Jewish person who knows Adonai, who knows the God, you know, of creation.

[01:00:37] And then the people who are pagan or don't know this God and follow other gods.

[01:00:42] There's, you know, we're coming into one new family of believers in Messiah.

[01:00:49] And that was what the great commission was.

[01:00:51] He said, go out and make, make disciples.

[01:00:55] So from his own mouth, it's like, he just rose from the dead, you know, after three days of being in the tomb, uh, supposedly, you know, being in the tomb.

[01:01:06] Uh, and he just rose from the dead.

[01:01:09] And now he's telling you to go and make disciples, you know, one or two days later after being alive again.

[01:01:16] So, you know, see if you decide not to, you know, and there was a funny clip I sent you.

[01:01:26] Or maybe today, I don't know, but, uh, it was like the, the disciples, you know, how people think Christianity started.

[01:01:34] And it was the disciples starting out to say, we're going to steal his body.

[01:01:38] And then we're going to go, you know, and, and, and we're going to claim that he resurrected.

[01:01:43] And then we're going to go get tortured and we're going to get killed.

[01:01:47] We're all going to get killed.

[01:01:49] And, uh, somebody was like, oh, uh, what about that last part?

[01:01:55] You know, we get, you know, rich at least.

[01:01:57] Right.

[01:01:57] And we have a prosperous life before that.

[01:02:00] And they're like, no, you know, people are going to hate you.

[01:02:04] And they're going to try to kill you.

[01:02:07] Every step of the way, you're going to be beaten and tortured.

[01:02:10] And to think that the disciples would lie and say, we still, you know, would steal his body and submit themselves to that kind of torture.

[01:02:20] To think that the, you know, to think that the Roman guards would have submitted themselves to certain death also when they were guarding the tomb.

[01:02:28] And all of a sudden his body is missing.

[01:02:30] You know, they probably ran for the hills.

[01:02:32] They probably ran and went missing.

[01:02:34] Honestly, they were like, we can't show our faces.

[01:02:36] They're going to kill us.

[01:02:38] You know, we don't know what happened to them.

[01:02:40] The angels showed up.

[01:02:42] They probably ran.

[01:02:42] And, you know, they're like, oh, no.

[01:02:44] There's no way of explaining this crap.

[01:02:47] Yeah.

[01:02:48] Yeah, that's one of my things, man.

[01:02:50] It's like if you don't believe Jesus is God, then why in the world would that many people willingly take torture like that to not put down their faith in Jesus?

[01:03:05] It was like, it was like they saw him resurrect and they were going to take whatever punishment it took.

[01:03:13] It was like, who would do that?

[01:03:14] Who wouldn't just be like, oh, okay, actually, no, I made all this up, you know?

[01:03:21] No, exactly.

[01:03:22] I mean, and from that day, from that point in history to this very day, millions and millions and millions of believers have done the same thing, have laid their lives down for the gospel and for believing or having a Bible in their possession.

[01:03:36] It's still happening every single day in China.

[01:03:39] They have to meet in private.

[01:03:40] And in India, they have to meet in private also.

[01:03:46] So the fact of the gospel is it's the devil wants to stamp it out for some reason.

[01:03:53] And if Jesus was not God, who was he?

[01:03:57] That's what you really have to ask yourself.

[01:04:00] He was definitely not the devil.

[01:04:02] He was definitely not Satan or Lucifer.

[01:04:04] Yeah.

[01:04:07] Yeah, man.

[01:04:09] Awesome.

[01:04:11] Well, this is episode number 55.

[01:04:16] Thank you so much for listening.

[01:04:19] Thank you so much for tuning in.

[01:04:22] I think we're both pretty tired tonight.

[01:04:24] I'm pretty tired anyway.

[01:04:27] Ah, yeah.

[01:04:28] It's on Friday for sure.

[01:04:29] Yeah.

[01:04:31] But thank you guys for listening.

[01:04:34] Again, this is our Bible study podcast.

[01:04:39] We talked on what is the gospel.

[01:04:41] Thank you so much for listening.

[01:04:42] If you're on live, we really appreciate it.

[01:04:46] If you're listening to this on Spotify or Apple, we love you.

[01:04:50] Thank you so much for tuning in.

[01:04:53] Again, follow us on everything.

[01:04:55] At Finding Everland Band, you should be able to find us on all the platforms, everything like that.

[01:05:05] Thank you.

[01:05:06] Yeah.

[01:05:08] Gospel is a good news.

[01:05:11] I just think John 3.16,

[01:05:13] For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

[01:05:22] That's the message.

[01:05:26] Amen.

[01:05:27] It's for anybody.

[01:05:28] It's for anyone who believes in him.

[01:05:31] So, yeah, let's say a prayer and then we'll hope you guys have a good weekend.

[01:05:40] Thank you.

[01:05:41] Cool.

[01:05:42] All right.

[01:05:45] Father, thank you.

[01:05:47] Thank you again.

[01:05:48] We're praying to you again.

[01:05:49] Second time in this episode.

[01:05:50] We love you.

[01:05:51] We just love, we love praying to you.

[01:05:53] We love talking to you.

[01:05:54] We love hearing your word.

[01:05:56] We're so thankful for it.

[01:05:57] Thank you so much for just the good news, the gospel that we have hope in and a pathway to access to know Yahweh, the creator.

[01:06:14] You're the one who created everything.

[01:06:22] We thank you for sending your son for everything that he did, for coming down from the comforts of heaven to just save your loved ones, save your children, give us access to you.

[01:06:40] So thank you for this episode.

[01:06:41] I just pray that whoever's listening learn more about you.

[01:06:49] That whoever's listening can grow in understanding in how much you love the world and how much you want a relationship with each person.

[01:07:03] You don't want any single person to go to hell.

[01:07:09] You've given us a free gift, a gift by grace alone to be regenerated into a new family, a new culture, your kingdom, your family.

[01:07:26] And I pray that any believer listening to that can be reminded again that you are being created into a new creation, that God is working on you.

[01:07:41] He is working on your heart.

[01:07:45] His will is that you are to be sanctified, that you're going to grow in righteousness and holiness and love and peace.

[01:07:57] That is his will for you and for everybody.

[01:08:00] And we're just thankful, God, that you are not giving up on any of us, that you're patient and you're kind.

[01:08:11] God, I thank you for this show.

[01:08:13] I thank you for, again, I pray for healing for whoever's listening.

[01:08:20] I pray for healing of Luke's shoulder and Luke's situations and his circumstances, God.

[01:08:26] We just thank you for this band and this platform that you've given us.

[01:08:30] We're just excited for the future and for what is to come, God.

[01:08:35] And thank you for speaking through us and to us and helping us understand what the gospel is better and better.

[01:08:43] And I pray that anybody who is listening, that you will spend more time in meditating what God did for us and what he was relentless in making sure that we could know him and be with him.

[01:09:02] So, God, we love you.

[01:09:04] We bless you.

[01:09:05] Thank you for this evening.
