[00:00:24] But he actually proposed this topic so thankful to him for this topic. And his insight on the things you want to talk about as a band, he was really excited to come back to this episode.
[00:00:38] But we needed to perform and have been grandgourmeting to get better. Those science and fiction are, you know, Joe got to actually skip the podcast myself one time because of it.
[00:00:51] There's no sense in talking when your nose is so stuff to it sound like adult and there's something you can't get the words out. But oh, by the way, I'm a sense of old school plan neverland merchandise today.
[00:01:06] Today, year 2013, I remember a little bit of a share of your interested we could get it. If we don't already do this to be in with, it's just a basic volume, it's finding there. And this one's the safety net course that was the style in 2008 2009.
[00:01:31] But we got to bring that bit to. So getting into the topic guys. James gave me a really telling verse. It really started me off here in the book of second-ranking as this time again, just joining us this episode 46.
[00:01:56] I don't know if I'm really a Christian or what does it mean to be a Christian. And this verse that James. Sammy, I was like, wow, book of second-ranking in chapter 13 verse five. It says. This is called writing to the.
[00:02:16] The church in Corinth, he's saying examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourself, you not realize that Jesus, the Christ Jesus is in you unless of course he failed to test. So he's telling him, look, there is a.
[00:02:32] There is a barometer for whether you know Christ or whether you follow him or not. Let's not get it. Let's not get it mixed up. You're still in them to recognize.
[00:02:44] Whether they do or not, and then having known that they are to take all the den of letting things stop and being dead. I think is the theme of the entire letters that you write.
[00:02:58] Take the hope and encouragement for those that might be questioning whether or not it's worth it to. I mean, the misdemeurscution in those days when they're being hunted for. You've been claiming the name of Jesus and it's a scene as a movement and he's to be stamped out.
[00:03:16] Because it's a false doctrine to the Jews, it's a. It's blasphemy for them. They killed him because he claimed to be gone in the first place and now it's not going away. And we gotta do something about it.
[00:03:31] And of course, fear to not rising and so I'm sure between the Jews who were as well as like all who sought to kill Christians in the Roman Empire. They had to really hide and see for it.
[00:03:45] And they made a secret because they were being imprisoned and killed. And that's what the disciples lost their lives. Maybe one I think may be John might have died a different way, but after he wrote revelation. But he was the last one.
[00:04:02] All of them had been murdered all of them had been killed for the sake of Jesus and telling people about him and there's still people in the world today that is their lives for this very. And so I think it's a very important thing to be heard.
[00:04:19] Even possessing a Bible in certain countries will get you the dissidents without a trial. So. Living in America, of course, we get. You know, right to have a trial. There's no such thing in these other countries. It's just not even.
[00:04:36] Try for with because they understand that the devil is it full and in those countries and it's open to see them because. And it's the power that comes with this state and it seems like only in America, in certain parts. I think we lose that.
[00:04:55] Power and then anointing on this on this calling in the state that we claim to be a part of. Based on how we respond to truth or not, and whether we're living the truth. So I think we don't know that you down, but.
[00:05:11] Just just a little bit of context, I think, I'll share this. When when this originally took hold and his disciples started to. Spread the gospel as we know it was called. The way or you know they called it the way meaning the way to God. Through the Messiah.
[00:05:32] To have makes to get to be safe the way out the way out of the. There's a lot of people that are in the family, but it was actually the Romans and the antagonist of the faith that coin the term Christian because.
[00:05:53] It was seen it Christian used to be a derogatory word for followers of Jesus it was like those Christians those. You know, their trouble makers they want to turn everybody into many Jesuses. And so.
[00:06:04] Of course, Christ is not that people before they would say, oh, isn't Christ Jesus's last name and you're like, oh my gosh, where we. Where are we in this religion now in like crisis of the last name prices another name for. I'm a site.
[00:06:23] You know, the son of God so it's like. But he's got is God senior Christ, you know, the father. No, but Jesus Christ is the description of Jesus being the Messiah. So Christian man of Christ or of Messiah and followers of him.
[00:06:47] So eventually the church panages took that term and said, oh, we're you know, we're going to use it and say, yeah, we are Christians, you know, basically as a.
[00:06:59] As a slight to those who've minted is a derogatory term, they were like, we'll take that on as our label. To spite and basically say, yes, we do own that you know, this is how much we own it we're willing to call ourselves that.
[00:07:13] Even though it might bring us harm, we're going to label ourselves by the very thing that you are seeking to destroy. They didn't seek to suppress.
[00:07:22] And then we're not actually doing what you think we're doing. They actually said, yes, we are doing what you think we're doing and. Good luck trying to stop basically and that's the whole new test. It's made it at this much faith and courage.
[00:07:37] But so, you know, nowadays the term Christian, at least for me personally. The descriptiveness of that word is lost a lot of meaning. And so, I think it's a lot of different countries like I said, you will be killed for that name, but.
[00:07:54] Here in America, it's seen as something benign and a lot of circles, it's seen as something to be. Present. But not for the right reasons. And when Christ said the world would hate you. He was talking about for what you believe and how you follow him.
[00:08:14] And I think a lot of people are like, well, they hate us. That's great. No, they hate you because you're. You know, you're a mean, we get person, you know, it's still a sinner and you can. Think you're better than they are. So they're hitting you for that.
[00:08:30] Jesus is not. He's not proud of it. It's not that's not what he was talking about. So they've already received themselves in the devil as anything. Well, great. We're doing exactly what he said.
[00:08:40] We would be doing we're supposed to behave by everyone. So they spend all their time trying to be hated by people. And that's just absolutely the opposite of what we were called as Christians, I say it like that.
[00:08:55] And if someone asked me, I would now tell them that for context that I am a Christian, I would make an emphasis to say I can't follow up Christ and I believe Jesus I don't have.
[00:09:07] And then we do them more of a standing on. Oh, okay. Well, that's different. He actually says it actually explains what a Christian is to him. But there's so there's no there's no confusion.
[00:09:21] And so how many of the family of a skin that when someone confronted us about our faith, how much courage would it take to actually say that and be like, no, he actually is.
[00:09:33] It's what it actually means, you know, I'm actually trying to follow up for what it is. It's not just a blank blank estate and for somebody of America claims Christian as their religion and they go to church. You know, Easter Christmas and well twice a year.
[00:09:51] And then they've checked their boxes. And the world looked at that. There's literally no need to believe this stuff. They just really don't. They sell a very other things during those holidays. Anyways, what are they doing? There was not student, you know, people are not.
[00:10:07] Student that they don't want to follow something that they think is false. It's just. The doctor in the devil is stampulated himself so much in the church since it was began.
[00:10:20] You know, even angels don't recognize that the disciples would recognize that he's a swim recognized church in certain areas. But he goes to China or something like that. He would be right at home for the people who give their lives or this in honor of the ones who
[00:10:37] Give their lives to spread is to their country. That's home design so enough that that ran there. Let's just wanted to get some context for my. And if you know humans are not complicated, I think.
[00:10:55] When we talk or we talk to other people, we're usually talking about things that want to know the answers to and. Or not that company. So you know, it's echo up with a topic or.
[00:11:07] Yeah, I talked to somebody about something is because I want their advice on that topic because I want to know what they think about it. If I'm a social structure, I want to know what it. Well, God thinks about those things.
[00:11:19] And so there was me when I when I go on tanks and wants to probably say these things for my own ears because some you know, it seems necessary to keep my mind on this truth and not go up into things that I can only stay on the truth of I don't want to.
[00:11:42] And I'm going to talk about this. I guess I'm saying is what have already said thank you guys. Thank you. Bravo. I'll start us out here. This this parable did and.
[00:11:57] Wouldn't say I wouldn't tell you this if it was true when just make this up to make it so much more random and actually use. I sat down and was like okay, I'm going to talk about what it means to be a Christian.
[00:12:11] And I was like I'm going to sit down and do a blind reading which means you pick up the Bible physical copy or you can flip through it. Just without even knowing what page you're going to turn to.
[00:12:26] And then you read you know that chapter you read what that was on that area and that was just really seeking to be in.
[00:12:33] God's will and presence in that moment say I want to talk about do you want me to talk about even though I think this the topic that. You would bless tonight and he.
[00:12:44] Promise I just I just opened it up and it was right here in the book of Luke. They just. Paramos was said so. And then he started to open it up and three dimensions for me and I'd like to share that with you is now.
[00:12:59] The book of Luke. Chapter 14. Versus 12 to 34. This is Jesus. This is. I went as a count of Jesus says then Jesus said to his host this is. And then the first is he is entered for context he's entering. The house of one of the top fair to see.
[00:13:27] One of the top religious leaders is having a feast and he's entering his home so. You know contrary to what you would think only eight with sinners and only. Speech to the people he wanted to hear it he is in a fair receipts house at the moment.
[00:13:46] Attending it because he wanted to be invited to this feast and he goes in there. It makes an opportunity to. Share his truth that. You can imagine. Our bunch of other Pharisees.
[00:14:03] And it says they were watching him closely when he entered the room he knew this is the. New this of course they were already on to them and it didn't like it But they probably were just trying to He was never kissing his butt. They were saying
[00:14:18] The launch you come in and he was as maybe maybe you'll say something After all, we can catch him on that it will get him that way, you know that's just the evil
[00:14:28] Intention that they might have had on that he was like okay. I'm gonna. I'm in your Boy away And this is what you know, I'm not just good Uh I'm not gonna serve you and you're pride or I'm going to actually break it down in a way
[00:14:48] But it says that Jesus said there's host When you give a lunch, you know, we're getting it Do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters You're relatives or your rich neighbors if you do they may invite you back it so you will be related
[00:15:03] But when you give a they wouldn't bite the poor the cripple the lane the blind And you won't be blessed Although they cannot repay You won't be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous
[00:15:17] And then it goes into this title of the parable of the great banquet with when he Goes for the end to it
[00:15:23] This says when one of those at the table with him heard this he said to Jesus bless it is the one who will eat at the feast and they came them of God Jesus replied a certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests
[00:15:38] At that time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited Come for everything is now right But they all like to end to make excuses The first said I have just bought a field and I must go and see it please excuse
[00:15:56] Another said I have just about five yo of the box and my and I am on my way to try the metal please excuse me Still another said I just got married so I can't come The servant came back to came back and reported this to his master
[00:16:15] Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant go out quickly into the streets Of the town and bring in the poor the crippled the blind and the lane Serve the servants said when you ordered has been done but there is still room
[00:16:31] Then the master told his servant go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in so that my house will be full I tell you not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet with
[00:16:46] large crowds were traveling with Jesus and turn and turning to them. He said if anyone comes to me and does not hate Father and mother wife and children Brothers and sisters yes even their own life
[00:17:01] Such a person cannot be my disciple and whoever does not carry their cross at full of me cannot be my disciple Suppose one of you wants to build a tower Once you first sit down and estimate the cost see if you have enough money to complete it
[00:17:18] For if you live a foundation they are not able to finish it Everyone who sees it will ridicule Saying this person began to build and wasn't able to finish Or so goes a king and about to go to war against another king
[00:17:33] Won't you first sit down and consider whether he is able with 10,000 men To oppose the one coming against him with 20,000 If he is not able He will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace
[00:17:50] And the same way those of you do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciple Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness how can it be made salty again? It is either for the soil nor for the manure pile it is thrown out
[00:18:10] So that was a mouthful there Again, that's Chapter 14 12, 2, 3, 4 is what I chose to read Everything before that after that is amazing too of course but I singled in on this because So there's a lot to unpack it
[00:18:28] I didn't even know was here until I said but did for a moment and I think the Holy Spirit was like start highlighting these things so I like to delve into like a lot of the details with a blige me
[00:18:50] Let's see where we're going to start here so I think There's a strong sense here That is a sense but I'm just trying to be funny that this is a serious thing that Jesus is telling people that This large crowd is following him and he's telling them look
[00:19:10] You see how you're following the error where Because of what you think I can do for you He's telling them that unless you're going to You have everything that you have I think it's interesting that he tells these stories of
[00:19:27] You know what you not consider the cost of a tower or or you know Or the children of They seem to wage against
[00:19:35] A larger army and then he the very sense after that he says in the same way those of you who do not give up everything you have Cannot be in my disciples and I can imagine them saying what that's just it was like
[00:19:48] He told us all that stuff and then What does it have to do with those other things he said? You were so concerned with that one thing he said and probably Saying that's pretty He asked me to do quickly saying It's not it you You know
[00:20:04] Using those examples like did you count the cost of the tower you were building and then he's like if you don't get everything You have you can't get my disciple Man
[00:20:14] You know and then to have a realization if you know God that everything you have is only because he gave it to you in the first place You know and this goes for anyone on this planet this Nothing that we have been given. It's not already been
[00:20:31] Sinction by the father whether we know him or not or painted He doesn't exist or not you know you can believe what you want to believe it doesn't matter what you believe It's not it's not really So I just think that was such an escalation there
[00:20:53] That he was building to Where I think a lot of people were like yeah, yeah, that just that's just I can I could deal with that you know That those couple are being through the same and
[00:21:06] That may say and see you know you don't want to go against an army you can't defeat if you don't have to Lose is then if you can have peace that's better than doing that right?
[00:21:17] But he's giving I think is giving a visual of like this is how you should be with the father you should Broker peace within Through a sentence rather than make war with One trivia over your pride and you're saying And you know
[00:21:39] only the very insane everything you have if it's not his also you know give it to him Then you're in mid-also And you can't be as societal That just I definitely thought that was That was a little bit interesting
[00:21:58] Not the not the most my blowing thing that I thought of here, but we're getting there Or that the whole story I'd revealed to me because I didn't Come on, but this stuff here that I'm fixing the telling And if you don't think it's amazing then
[00:22:15] But go in one ear and not the other you know Power to Speak in this truth great from that Then You know somebody I think I said before but the I Like I'm being told to say it again, but
[00:22:34] There was a rabbi used to have a teacher feature This said something like You know every time somebody would come to him and say oh I loved your sermon. I love I love your message It was great
[00:22:47] Because like what am I supposed to say to that am I supposed to say thank you Usually I say thank you. I just kind of said cordial behavior, but You know if if I Let me put it through this way if I
[00:23:04] If I spoke to things or if you know if if you thought I I Pretty good message or taught a good message But I was actually teaching things that God didn't want me to say or saying things that weren't true Then
[00:23:19] Where are you now you know then you're That fault for believing something that wasn't right And If I but if you thought my message was wrong or you didn't like it And it was exactly what God told me to say and You just didn't accept it
[00:23:37] Then you're in me with him so It is he said this no skin off of my back Whether or not you Is or is it you know just go to the word with it if it doesn't Resinate with you in your spirit or doesn't resonate with the word
[00:23:54] And throw it out but A That's why I haven't really And focused on using a lot of script for your Because this Or I need to stay grounded in this and then just pick from that
[00:24:15] And not really go off on my own the old geez I've never went as high I think title to the round theology And beliefs But One of my I'm going to go back up here. I think The very first thing I said was
[00:24:40] You know don't when Jesus said when you give a lunch in our dinner You're not invited to friends or brothers or sisters or relatives I really correlate that with In telling People that if they don't hate their father and mother
[00:24:56] If they come to him and they'll hate their father and mother wife and children brothers and sisters Yes, even their own life but I correlate that with And saying don't invite your friends your brothers or sisters or your relatives because Sorry, excuse
[00:25:17] You know or your rich neighbors is said you know Because your family is supposed to love you right if families designed to execute and love you Not everybody is that lucky you or that Bless but In general
[00:25:35] You could you know have to try that hard for most people I think he's telling You to reach out side of that box and That's where your piece and your Collin is going to be found
[00:25:53] And not not trying to to round yourselves just like going to church and only going to church And only hanging around people who are Christians And That's just a job as a civilized and
[00:26:08] You know he says it's a tent by decor the grip of the way the blind and you will be blessed You know although they cannot repay you you will be a bad the resurrection of the righteous Basically you know he's saying
[00:26:23] It's along the same lines of you know forgive someone For their wronging you So that you will be they're right standing with God is not I'm just going down again. I'm sorry Let me try to back on try let me try to back try
[00:26:48] But you know it's better you will receive a bigger reward from God for those who can't repay you then say if I know someone can Hangy back for what I'm doing for them Then I received that reward and full in that moment like
[00:27:02] The dead has been fulfilled but if there's an outstanding dead Am I in for I'm getting freely and not expecting to receive Then God will bless that and say Loki storing up prejudice for yourself and head
[00:27:16] You know this this guy does good and does what I want him to do Helping others without expecting To be repaid for in this life and Where do you see that in the world Overall this is Everybody
[00:27:33] At least in the modern I mean it's been like this since being here time but when am I gonna get out of it? I Got to get my And my feet all I care about is me and my family and all I care about
[00:27:48] Don't go outside of that because it's too painful when people burn me too much And what I need wicked way to live and not even know that you're And maybe with God for Thinking this year playing it safe If anything
[00:28:03] Jesus did not play a safe and neither did his disciples state fall or Brian his footsteps And then he goes into this parable saying I'm gonna tell you About the poor the crippled the lame the blind and this parable here This feast right so he's at a feast
[00:28:22] With the Pharisees that the head Pharisee invited him to and he's going to give a parable about A feast that it says a certain man was preparing a great banquet And Certain man who is a certain man I think it's God he's saying God
[00:28:42] You know the master later on and that it says you invited many guests meaning Everyone you can imagine You know was welcome to this this feast For God's beloved the world the entire world that he gave us only time so that none should perish but
[00:29:03] He that believes in him would have eternal life the entire world Is invited to accept that free gift And it says at the time of the banquet you sent his servant Those who had been invited who's the servant you're I think his Jesus
[00:29:22] Is the son of God is the son he sent his servant to tell all those who had been invited Come for everything is now right Meaning You know the kingdom of God is that hand is is your honor is now I've come to be your savior
[00:29:40] You know if it's your invited to this banquet it says he said his servant Tell everyone it had been invited to come This is you know But all like I like that part this is all alike They were all in the same mode of life
[00:30:03] Where they could not be bothered with this invitation they were too busy to go to this banquet Which they had no hand in Detaining in the first place to be honest with you He was no mention of that it says they weren't invited to this banquet. They weren't
[00:30:19] They didn't ask to go to this banquet, but they were given invitation and they turned it down for personal free occupancy as I suspect say It says they began to make excuses So You know maybe they had already agreed to go to this banquet and then now
[00:30:40] You know actually They didn't really want to go to the banquet if they wanted to go then these things would have waited And that's anything of life. You know you give your time
[00:30:51] In your treasure is there your heart will be also and so spend time with God that's for your hard days if you don't You're harder somewhere else You know it says I've just bought a field and I must go and see you please excuse me I
[00:31:07] Like that please excuse me part because the other one is I just bought five yoga boxes them on the way to try not please excuse me They're actually saying look can you You know forgive me for not Coming basically
[00:31:22] So at least they're trying to meet that person halfway or tell us her that look I'd like to go Which they probably did you know they're just giving them a website risk really
[00:31:34] How many people say I'm sorry when they don't really mean it or you know I'm meant to admit to do that Well if you meant to do it, he surely meant to do it. You would have done
[00:31:43] I think that's something of last time today's society is our word is not Is not solid and it's not powerful don't keep it We don't keep it and think that he does and his word is eternal because everything he has said has been kept it come to pass
[00:32:00] We'll come to pass But then the third one said I still another said I just got married so I can't count they didn't even say It's used me or sorry. I can't make it it was
[00:32:15] Basically just got married so I can't go lazy to like a definitive thing for them. This is this is a non-negotiable for me This event here means how does getting married actually prevents you from going to something that you
[00:32:30] committed to beforehand it's just a we've keeps and how many of the searches like a married to the world right now later on in life I will Oh come to God and I will repent and I will live right live we're for right now I've got
[00:32:50] Everything in the world's got to offer and how many people have said that to me I don't know And it's tragic to hear that because of these things I'm reading now
[00:33:01] But it's just interesting that this other person was like that's all I have to say you know don't understand I got married and That should be good enough You know tell the servant that and then it says the servant came back and recorded this to his mast Jesus
[00:33:18] telling God You know then I want to get angry and order the servant to go quickly into the streets and alleys and bringing the poor the crippled The line in the lame so basically the undesirable if you want to say that the people that weren't initially
[00:33:37] thought to be In that in that group of people that we'd go to a bank with And probably weren't expecting to go to the bank but like that um they would Kind of that day and never even thought that this would be asked of them to attend this
[00:33:51] Man's banquet That he just wanted people to attend because he planned it and people need to be there because he's to go down It's going down Somebody's gonna be there Find them It's just really what I'm saying here It has no bearing on whether or not
[00:34:10] The kingdom of God is going to come to fruition or not how we respond to This world in this life he's going to accomplish it There's someone else if not you so And then This is a beautiful thing really this is the servants have served the servants said
[00:34:28] What you ordered has been done but there is still room And that touches me a lot because Even going out and finding those people It was like look they're still room in the banquet We had planned for this many guests and they didn't come
[00:34:44] They're still room because it's how many people turned it down That there's still room to invite somebody on the other side of the country It says it go out to the rows in the country lanes into a code in the comment compel Meaning dead and to
[00:35:01] Accept this invitation So then my house will be full And this is his main reason for doing this he wants his house to be full I tell you not one of those who are invited will be the taste of my bank with saying look
[00:35:18] They had their chance base and so I will go to those who and I see this Pointing towards humility and the the mark of humility and then the other side of that is pride where Your life is more important
[00:35:35] And these other people they were poor and they were humbled by life And crippled in blind and lame They couldn't want they were paralyzed And they had no reason to believe that today way better than yesterday Had someone come and say look here Presence is requested
[00:35:57] In my master's house will you please come and be against in his house for this banquet That he has prepared for someone just just like you To be honest with you I don't even think about this This is not even possible if the people had accepted the invitation
[00:36:20] Initially So it's because these people Rejected the imitation that these others were allowed to attend otherwise it would not have taken place Just as it was planned And how do we see this in our modern world today where You know god was like
[00:36:41] I choose the Jews the Jewish people to initially bring this news to the world and my son as a Jewish man As Messiah is going to die for the world and through this race of people I'm going to bring my word
[00:36:55] This been preserved in the monotheistic god of the universe is going to be made known to the entire world that I want them to know me and Then over time You know just for a minute time it was
[00:37:14] This faith was given to the non Jewish people the Gentiles it was passed the baton was passed Saying looking you are invited to be a part of this family it is god's family the The first born are the Jewish people but you have been adopted into his family
[00:37:32] as one new man in Messiah with the Jewish people And The significance of that I think is lost on a lot of people because of the division of the devil has set up in our religions today
[00:37:49] And just look at Christianity itself and how many different denominations are are within that Faith's quote of a clue you know that label has so many different denominations and religions and it will be different things that are It'll look um the brim made of my man and
[00:38:06] So we've even ruined we've even ruined the banquet So just be But it's about trying to be the guest is thankful for this invitation and this consideration I think because we originally the fall of man for destined
[00:38:30] Thursin to die from it and be eternally separated from God and he had no obligation to Fixed that or it's into find a way forward to be I guess find a way for it to be Reconciled to him so
[00:38:52] And it wasn't going to be in our power of course um I got a little bit of work so Alright Just grabbing it up a little bit here I think I wanted to talk about the last part that I live here
[00:39:19] Saying you know he's telling them look this is how you would respond to these events right you know Would you estimate the cost? To see if you have enough money to complete if you're building a tower and
[00:39:35] How many times you talked about the cost of this label should When He says if you are not you're not think of your execution stake and follow me You're not willing to be my disciples
[00:39:50] And the cost is everything he says you know if you don't get everything you have you cannot be my disciples So really this is far more than just a tower They're totally English just You know and this word complete
[00:40:05] You know not mind completely I think that's significant to me because how many of us And things that you know are not Our relationship directly with God but our in our own lives how many things do we start?
[00:40:20] With the intention of completing but we do follow through with those things and it just ruins our self esteem And our pride is that before from of it Well You know the reason I didn't completed it was because I was too busy And waiting I had
[00:40:36] Oxen that look after it about a field so that's my excuse right? I just didn't know was gonna be this hard I'm sorry you know Credit to those people who probably did come into the faith of Christianity and say look I didn't know who's gonna require this question
