[00:00:59] Weaver on here, but super excited to be back on here. Right now we're in separate spots

[00:01:07] this week. We've been wanting to do it together, but we have to do it on our separate places

[00:01:14] due to some weather issues here in Colorado. Here's Luke, my phone. I'm going to

[00:01:20] come back. Oh good man. Oh good. Yeah we've had some crazy weather here in Colorado so

[00:01:28] we're trying to have him do this podcast in different places and you know that's the struggle

[00:01:37] of trying to get us connected to the right audio things like that. So can you hear me? Yeah,

[00:01:45] just do my phone for somebody who's now. Okay. After all day it. Yeah. You should

[00:01:52] it. The microphone should have worked. I don't know if it would work with headphones on

[00:01:57] but yeah. I need to go there here. You too. If it was coming through the phone,

[00:02:04] if anybody just been a huge influence. Yeah. All good though. We got you.

[00:02:12] Last time also. So I was just telling everybody that we have to do this separately because right

[00:02:21] now it's like virtually impossible to get to your house and to my apartment has been

[00:02:27] a crazy couple of days here in Colorado with the weather.

[00:02:33] Man, well now as of the round day my neighbor came to know that the bulldozer and I got to

[00:02:42] ride on that. I got to hang off of the side of that thing. My house has been yanking my jeep out

[00:02:48] for some reason. I thought I was going to be able to climb my jeep through four foot of snow and

[00:02:53] be able to drive in it. Oh no man. It's pretty crazy. You got any crazy stories? How do how to

[00:03:03] go this dude? There's another cloud company right now. Yeah. I can see you. Pretty sick of it. Yeah.

[00:03:13] Yeah, it's Colorado man. Just anybody's not from around here. You know we had major major

[00:03:21] road closures and by the grace of God I had everybody had to ban me and my sister

[00:03:28] praying for me she takes me out of nowhere. And by the grace of God it's not through the mountain

[00:03:33] to get home and people have been stranded in their vehicles for you know 17 hours or some

[00:03:40] because he couldn't go either way and somehow I was snuck through the mountain around all that.

[00:03:46] I got to open up these little avenues and then probably for a good reason because I came across the

[00:03:52] first time in the day. I pulled out of a ditch and it was just that right time for me to be there.

[00:03:59] Yeah, so

[00:04:05] crazy stuff. Yeah like um so we got

[00:04:09] up where me and Luke live got about four feet of snow so this is probably our biggest storm

[00:04:17] and quite a while. I don't remember a storm being this bad and it's just like that wet

[00:04:23] thick pack snow that that spring snow and it's just so dangerous to get so icy and so slushy

[00:04:32] and all of it. Oh I think we lost them again connection issues. Again that's been one of the

[00:04:40] problems too up here in Colorado as people's power has been out. Thankfully my power hasn't gone

[00:04:47] out and I don't think Luke had any issues but there's been a lot of people that have been out

[00:04:54] out of power. A lot of people have been like stranded on i70 like stuck in their cars

[00:05:02] so that's one of those things if you live in a place like Colorado or if you live somewhere

[00:05:06] where winter storms happen like that you always want to have kind of like an emergency kit

[00:05:12] in your car just in case something like that happens. Like people got stuck on i70 and then

[00:05:18] and then they closed i70 so you couldn't go in or couldn't go out and it was just a big problem so

[00:05:25] yeah like dangerous times. Thankfully it started to melt today the sun came out today

[00:05:36] I think a little bit of snow today in the evening but um

[00:05:42] yeah i think it was a pretty scary day for a lot of people yesterday

[00:05:47] just want to pray for those people Luke's back how you doing man

[00:05:53] yeah it's actually in my ear but now okay that's really exciting nice

[00:06:00] yeah your audio your audio is better too so that's good

[00:06:05] yeah better than that i wasn't talking to you on microphone on my phone

[00:06:10] yeah um cool so Luke's back just talking about the weather in Colorado has been crazy but tonight

[00:06:18] we wanted to share on we wanted to make a topic called uh living a spirit filled life and just

[00:06:26] maybe going over some scriptures on uh understanding things like the Holy Spirit

[00:06:35] exploring you know walking walking in the spirit what does that mean what is having a spirit filled

[00:06:41] life mean um the transformations of walking with the Holy Spirit stuff like that so

[00:06:50] that was kind of our topic tonight i just wanted to first kind of share on

[00:06:57] what's going on here in Colorado i don't know if we wanted to share on anything else regarding that

[00:07:04] oh speak on the weather yeah whatever you want

[00:07:08] oh uh and you know to be honest it was uh i had you guys praying for me i had my sister praying for me

[00:07:18] and there's no way i should have made it over here because i get on i said in the end

[00:07:22] like huh that's weird there's only one lame cloud nobody's up made this nobody's on here

[00:07:27] and i get up to the people plowing it and this guy gets out all salty how'd you get on the interstate

[00:07:33] and i said i got on this exit over here and uh he's like what did you know do don't they have barriers

[00:07:41] and stuff they can put down and say don't enter and listen to that and he just

[00:07:46] pauses and he knew he was wrong but he was like no they don't you could tell he was not confident in

[00:07:50] that answer but he said you need to get up with the nature exit and i said well that's where i live

[00:07:55] anyways since i get off the exit there's a line of cards just stopped and it's like well i'll wait

[00:08:01] here too i guess and for 30 minutes later i was like well how about i go to the other direction

[00:08:07] got back on i said and he because it was not blocked either for like another couple of minutes uh

[00:08:13] or no just like a you know 300 feet to the next exit and that's where i was able to go through

[00:08:18] central city and get home and all i'm helped this guy get tugged out of the um

[00:08:24] itch on my way home um which he was not gonna be he was like stranded in the middle of his road

[00:08:30] on his hill where you know he was trying to get it till try to come get him and that was not

[00:08:34] gonna happen uh because their ETA was question mark in the midst of this storm so uh that was

[00:08:42] cool to be able to do that and then i ended up being stuck but i tried all the way to the house and like

[00:08:48] three foot of snow um it was up to my waist when i was walking and stuff but um i was definitely

[00:08:55] over there and then this morning cracked all the way back out there to meet this guy to pull my

[00:09:00] jeep out and uh really his real his tractor all the way back to the house i'm like yeah thanks for

[00:09:05] running in um but uh yeah there's you know i was like i don't want to be used today too i'm

[00:09:13] personally i felt like i was told this by the Holy Spirit or something it was like pray for the

[00:09:20] alcoholics in the in the addicts today um because i guarantee there's some people who were really hard

[00:09:28] drinkers it couldn't get their alcohol today um and uh you know two we got stuck whatever and things

[00:09:36] like that i mean oh absolutely you know just like for detox and not by police and stuff um

[00:09:46] served oh i'm sure there's a good amount of people that got injured physically with their

[00:09:53] health slash probably lots of lies in this kind of a event because i knew Colorado wasn't prepared

[00:10:00] for this kind of thing that i didn't know would be this data of a uh response i mean it can be this

[00:10:06] that you know um where everybody's playing catch up um the rec centers that i take care of

[00:10:14] close two days in the road now you know because of it they just said no we're gonna clean it

[00:10:20] we're any time to clean it up in this this mess where i can bother opening and things like this so um

[00:10:27] um yeah but uh oh but with the other thing with you guys praying and everything uh you know my boss

[00:10:33] who's not a bully you know you know waiting from what he says um he said he was out

[00:10:38] following in this he's tyranny and didn't get stuck and he's like i almost called you man

[00:10:43] you come getting the other stuff but then this makes it think that i just add a nowhere

[00:10:46] box up out of the dark with a shovel in his hand and he's like you need you need the uh

[00:10:52] you need shovel you need uh you need to fix this there's something like get out get unstuck and he was

[00:10:59] like yeah i'm stuck but then eventually he was able to wiggle his way out and i'm and he

[00:11:04] he thought it was crazy how that guy came out of nowhere in the dark just walking and then he

[00:11:08] just walked away in the dark and left and i'm like you know i was kind of joking but i really wasn't

[00:11:14] because i said granted up granted it with a okay people grand for us man that was probably his

[00:11:19] use the team to help you out man uh the Mexican he did this right and he didn't even he was so

[00:11:26] enthralled with the story he was telling about something interesting happened he didn't even

[00:11:30] was he wasn't even listening to me but honestly it could have been an angel it could have been

[00:11:33] anything like that but um uh yeah yeah that was really interesting did you

[00:11:40] uh did you see people like stuck on i-70 like having to stay in their cars during that time

[00:11:51] i think most of that was i think they were able to mitigate most of that down the hill with

[00:11:58] where you come up the mountain like it didn't but um i did see the line of cars on that exit

[00:12:05] on their way to highway six there was just everybody coming from westbound i was told to get

[00:12:11] out the interstate and then um so i mean eastbound eastbound sorry so they were told the exit there

[00:12:18] and that sure there was a line of cars there stuck um and then on my way westbound for those uh

[00:12:25] you minutes like i said just to get onto the next exit i see nothing but tractor trailers

[00:12:31] on the eastbound side right before you get to the parkway here by the s-squash gas station it's

[00:12:36] just like they were all gridlock parked over there like and that's so i found out that they didn't even

[00:12:43] let people go on i-70 until like 10 hours after i had uh i had already got home or more you know

[00:12:51] so i could have very easily just been stuck there sitting there um the gas station wasn't open i

[00:12:57] pulled in there he is the restroom everybody's just sitting there like it's not even open

[00:13:00] man and it is so many people there um but uh the tractor trailers didn't even get to go

[00:13:07] until noon today so the public got a preference and then the tractor trailers were able to leave

[00:13:13] to move it well but you just imagine that thing was back though so far um that people were taking

[00:13:19] alternate routes before they even entered the mountains over here trying to get up to something

[00:13:23] yeah i don't know how many routes there are to get to our hubs over here in Denver and stuff so

[00:13:29] they probably went south and man i think everybody got i mean i heard uh i heard down there in

[00:13:36] in Denver they probably got a foot of snow or over at Buckley Air Force Base

[00:13:40] yeah on the east side right and we got 61 inches up here is like the final toll somebody

[00:13:48] took up here um that's over 5 feet no so um and i'm gonna lucky some of it

[00:13:56] because it's so wet and heavy some of it's already settled with gravity or melted and

[00:14:01] stuff otherwise you end up to my head trying to walk through through that stuff so gravity over time

[00:14:07] you know even though that much snow fell it doesn't look like it yeah yeah i went and stayed at a

[00:14:14] house in Westminster outside of Denver so i i was it was like Wednesday or Thursday morning maybe

[00:14:22] i was like at the post office up there in the mountain and they were all just freaking out like

[00:14:28] like we got to get everything closed down and and you know everybody was closing up trying

[00:14:33] to get home to get home from this storm and stuff and i was just like i'm gonna get i'm just

[00:14:39] gonna go into town into city and and Denver we still you know there's still a lot of snow you know

[00:14:43] it was still over a foot like it was it was dangerous you know but um

[00:14:50] yeah i just i read that gilpen county was in a state of emergency for a few hours because they

[00:14:56] couldn't get it couldn't get ambulances up the hill to get to people there were people stuck

[00:15:01] in their houses like who who need like essential services or things like that so they were just

[00:15:08] the whole county was just suffering and so it's clear creek and clear creek county also

[00:15:15] so yeah i was an interesting couple of days i didn't i never thought about going down the mountain

[00:15:23] when there's an epic storm coming just to kind of like get away from it and i mean

[00:15:28] maybe get a hotel room or something but yeah as far as i heard hotel rooms around these

[00:15:33] parts in out west are foot you know we're full you know this is a tragedy um so probably close down

[00:15:40] the hill too i'm sure people were like welcome because i mean they weren't letting anybody up the

[00:15:44] mountain either in golden so all those hotel rooms were uh no vacancy i'm sure so there's a lot of

[00:15:49] people slept in their cars and then woke up to the car actually never in two-footish snow after

[00:15:55] its left which um it throws their butts out so and you know prior i mean god we operate i've heard

[00:16:02] horror stories of people um being in a vehicle with the engine running and then

[00:16:08] parking um somewhere where there was a lot of snow on the ground or the snow built up over

[00:16:14] their muffler and this the carbon monoxide ended up taking them out because their muffler leaked

[00:16:22] back into their cab i'm announced to them so that's another thing to think about guys is be

[00:16:28] aware of that kind so yeah and while i'm glad you're okay glad you're home uh glad you're

[00:16:36] you're safe um i know it was quite an adventure um

[00:16:44] but yeah i guess we can transition a little bit into our topic tonight um

[00:16:52] um

[00:16:56] i think i wanted to share uh just to just on this topic i wanted to share Romans

[00:17:03] Romans chapter eight verses six

[00:17:10] um this passage is what kind of what oh i was gonna say and this is Paul talking uh

[00:17:18] this is Paul writing right to the church uh to the Greeks i guess he was there

[00:17:24] yeah this is like um

[00:17:29] yeah i'll just read it it just it says so this is Romans chapter eight

[00:17:33] verses six this says for for to be carnally minded as death but to be spiritually minded as life and

[00:17:41] peace um i love that verse um i'll talk on that one in a minute but

[00:17:49] verse seven says because the carnal mind is eminent to you against god for it is not subject

[00:17:55] to the law of god nor indeed can be so then those who are in the flesh cannot please god

[00:18:03] but you who are not in the flesh but in the spirit if indeed the spirit of god dwells in you

[00:18:10] now if anyone does not have the spirit of christ he is not his and if christ is in you the body

[00:18:17] is dead because of sin but the spirit is life because of righteousness but if the spirit of him who

[00:18:24] raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you he who raised christ from the dead will also give life

[00:18:30] to your mortal bodies through his spirit who dwells in you

[00:18:36] um

[00:18:39] dang

[00:18:40] i'm just throwing out paul is just

[00:18:44] killing it on that um yeah i love those verses um it's literally like the first thing when

[00:18:50] i first started really giving my heart to god again it was the first thing that god showed me

[00:18:56] was that there is a battle between the spirit and the flesh and it's like

[00:19:03] and even like in the addiction recovery world we kind of we we look at

[00:19:12] like addictions or um you know harm against ourselves some of these issues that we have in our lives

[00:19:18] we we kind of act like it's a mystery like oh i don't know how this happened like how's

[00:19:24] how is this like how was this addiction happening to you you know maybe it's a disease

[00:19:29] and then but we look at the bible and it literally says you know we're in a battle between

[00:19:35] the spirit and the flesh like the flesh wants to control control us because we're built in a

[00:19:40] we're in a sinful nature in a sinful world so um some of these fleshly desires like addictions

[00:19:49] it's not a mystery like the bible shares with us you know why some of these things that might be

[00:19:57] um controlling you why it's happening and to to fight that you you you submit to the spirit

[00:20:07] yeah and that's the only way to uh contrary to pop belief or desire um no matter how much you wish

[00:20:16] so uh it's not going to be different than that um but there are some

[00:20:26] there's some believers out there that say we weren't born in indecision when we were when we came

[00:20:32] into the world we were born innocent and we actually weren't born in disin um how could you be

[00:20:39] you know you haven't done anything and uh that's just a a doctrine that somebody you know I'm just

[00:20:46] like well you can't even look at a baby uh wrong without a crying because selfish workers you

[00:20:55] know it's diper needs to be changed so i'll be crying all the time and i'm like but didn't take long

[00:21:03] for that selfishness to come out in a baby who can't even talk we can't even articulate

[00:21:09] thoughts or feelings right now other than screaming crying out and uh honestly you know

[00:21:15] I just think they're they're they're really getting hung up on something that's not that important

[00:21:20] they need to focus on the sin that they're battling with now i really love the bending of that

[00:21:27] red man because i've never heard that verse i don't think where he says

[00:21:32] and in the spirit that christ put in you that is that is christ um will actually give life to your mortal bodies

[00:21:41] so he the whole time he's talking he's talking down about the carnal the carnal thing isn't saying how

[00:21:49] you know there's a there's a war going on but then at the same time the same christ is gonna give

[00:21:53] life to your body which is not which is mortal it's it's fleeting but your body now the spirit

[00:22:01] is gonna give that body the life um so you don't have to even you know being pain if you don't want to

[00:22:09] or being that kind of misery of the carnal being so uh damn i guess you could say uh you

[00:22:15] don't have to you don't have to accept that i guess that's the main point of the gospel was you don't

[00:22:19] have to accept our condemnation um in christ so yeah yeah i love that it mentions

[00:22:31] that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you

[00:22:37] like i don't know if we actually live like we believe that or Christians that you know do we

[00:22:42] actually live like we believe that like we said i don't think we do

[00:22:50] i think about that same thing every single day and realize it's not uh

[00:22:58] where i want it to be in my life yeah um that's very aware of that

[00:23:04] and i think that's evidence of the holy spirit is to be aware of that uh

[00:23:10] uh is to be made aware that um with your conscience um it bothers you um

[00:23:16] yeah if they didn't bother you i question whether you have a relationship you know um

[00:23:22] but uh the same spirit that raised him from the dead um

[00:23:27] you know i this is the way i've come to think about the holy spirit and uh of course like i said

[00:23:37] i don't think i treat it correctly but i of course it's more i mean thank you for going

[00:23:42] in scripture with it dude is like step one you know um who cares what i can come up with or think

[00:23:49] about it because i'm probably deceiving myself or being deceiving because it feels a little bit

[00:23:54] less painful um but the fact that it is a little bit uncomfortable and painful i know it's

[00:23:59] probably true um but i think everybody was born natively with guys in in them um and it will come

[00:24:10] to call the human conscience or what means the the part of your brain that guides you like a compass

[00:24:18] is your compass um your conscience tells you don't do that because that was painful

[00:24:25] do this you know or if you stole this from somebody you know something inside you

[00:24:31] you you didn't even have to be top this but a kid if he goes and takes a cookie and it's the first time

[00:24:37] he's ever done it and the mom was like did you take a cookie and he he realized he wasn't supposed

[00:24:43] to without asking or something you'll see him turn beet red and uh and then why about it or

[00:24:50] and things like that and um so he's even showing that we have a conscience i just think uh when

[00:24:58] you become born again or you receive the Holy Spirit and all you have to do is ask God for it um

[00:25:05] that conscience is amplified and then it's like a megaphone for you

[00:25:11] and hate conscience and he comes to be dwell in you um and and scripture says once once he comes

[00:25:21] to dwell in you then that's it he's with you you know you can't you can quench the Holy Spirit

[00:25:26] and talk to about that or scriptures for that that are right today um you can stifle him

[00:25:32] and you know basically suffocate him where he's not you can't hear his voice when he's not

[00:25:36] been and bother you know talking to you also um what's in you know suffocating him but um I think

[00:25:46] once you once you get the Holy Spirit you have the Holy Spirit um and I think the thing we're talking

[00:25:52] about tonight is the feeling of the Holy Spirit which is is it good enough to just have the Holy

[00:25:58] Spirit or do you need to be filled with it's continue on a daily basis sometimes hourly or minute

[00:26:06] basis like Paul was talking about and saying we continually filled with the Holy Spirit you know

[00:26:13] and I I'll I'll much much he's got for a little bit but uh you're good yeah um

[00:26:22] I was reading John chapter six sixty three John says it is the spirit who gives life the flesh

[00:26:30] is no help at all the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life I love they says the flesh

[00:26:37] is no help at all you know nothing is like nothing is our own self effort like once you start to

[00:26:45] realize that we you know as a culture we try and give ourselves so much credit and we forget that

[00:26:53] that it's pretty much nothing that we're doing it's pretty much because God is good um

[00:27:01] our whole culture is all about gratifying the flesh giving what our flesh needs and um

[00:27:09] my strategy which is completely you know I you know even just in our church culture or at my

[00:27:18] church a lot of people I've noticed their strategies are to you know read this next book read

[00:27:23] this Christian book that's going to tell you how to get more spirit filled life or um you know

[00:27:28] here's another exercise here's the like art like even like our church culture just wants to throw

[00:27:33] all this like man-made stuff to help us grow in our relationship with God and I'm just like

[00:27:41] I think I really just think the two keys to growing closer to God is one private time and prayer

[00:27:47] like set time everything everything is built in private time and prayer with God

[00:27:57] like everything that we that we learn everything that we need to do like our future or past everything

[00:28:02] gets built in that private time of prayer so one I really think that's my first strategy

[00:28:11] and second my second strategy is just reading the word of God like what does it say

[00:28:16] what is like things like this like saying flesh is no help at all like I like what I have even

[00:28:21] known that if I didn't read this like the word of God like um so I think even in our church culture

[00:28:29] and in our world we're trying to read all these books and it's like guys like take a step back

[00:28:35] you want to live a spirit filled life spend time with God in private quiet time silence quiet time

[00:28:43] see what happens consistently and then read his word and I think that's like that is just my strategy

[00:28:50] for the rest of my life like I don't need to read all these different but not saying that it's bad

[00:28:55] to like read you know Christian theological you know perspectives and things like that all

[00:29:02] these different books and podcasts like this it's good to it's good to grow in those areas but

[00:29:09] I just really think the strategy if you really want to live a spirit filled life is just prayer time

[00:29:17] and read the word of God and I think you'll be fine like I think you just hit the nail on the head

[00:29:24] so good because I was just thinking man you know maybe um maybe I'm completely tripping here but

[00:29:33] um what's a book is somebody wrote about a topic I want to learn about concerning God

[00:29:43] going to tell me that the Holy Bible scriptures the word of God is not gonna tell me

[00:29:48] and most of the time people don't know they're first they just think this is easier I'll go to another

[00:29:54] you know um and I know the answer to that question it's not a rhetorical question what's

[00:30:01] they gonna tell me the Bible isn't it's gonna tell me something that's not true is anything that's

[00:30:06] gonna tell me something that's not biblical and not from God and uh but I mean the way people

[00:30:13] they just think uh you know their pride is is the issue it's like oh I'm gonna both satisfy my pride by

[00:30:21] saying I read this book and then I can uh satisfy it again by telling somebody else I read it they

[00:30:27] should read it too and so good did this for me when and I'm honestly probably just barred if

[00:30:34] they didn't anything good for you to borrowed it from the word of God and put a spectacular you know

[00:30:40] some sort of a worldly spin on it like you said the flesh is no help at all and that's the crazy part

[00:30:45] is I think the church especially because who else does that than like this um they think they can

[00:30:51] harness the flesh and and and use it um to their benefit I think or you know if they're sin

[00:31:01] that they don't want to part with they can harness it they'll be close to God and they can use it to

[00:31:09] like say somebody you know has a really bad problem with lust and they used to go to script clubs and

[00:31:14] they convinced them they'll think for themselves so that they can go to script clubs as long as

[00:31:20] they're preaching the gospel to the full things like that there there is a missionary um and you

[00:31:26] be surprised what we did to fool ourselves um and just be totally blissfully ignorant but yeah

[00:31:35] you cannot harness the flesh um it's absolutely like you said it's it's of no help at all um

[00:31:45] and yeah everything's kind of centered around that um the spirit has no there's no advocate um

[00:31:54] you know it's all about how you feel right you know like yeah um if you don't feel good then

[00:31:59] you must not you know be good or be doing something right and that's the biggest one of

[00:32:06] the Israelites that they will ever have people believe you know you use feelings as your compass

[00:32:12] and not the whole spirit you you have no chance and you get around a whole bunch of other people

[00:32:18] that church that have the same uh philosophy you're done you're just gonna you're gonna stay in

[00:32:25] that little club and you're gonna convince each other that everything's good if you're gonna

[00:32:30] come up with new ideas and new things to focus on and you've completely skipped over what's most

[00:32:36] important which is do you even want God's spirit you know he really offers us not only salvation

[00:32:43] and the sacrifice of his son but the indwelling of his spirit because before he used to dwell in

[00:32:49] the ark of the covenant that Moses and them carried around after that they built him a temple

[00:32:55] that he could dwell in so he could be close and then somebody could enter the holy of holy

[00:33:00] work his spirit presided once a year um and ever since Jesus Christ you know that on across

[00:33:08] says a sacrifice for the sin of the entire world for eternity the curtain was torn in the temple

[00:33:16] and there was a great earthquake and the ground split open and it was a symbol it was a symbol of

[00:33:23] they're not being a divider between God and us anymore and then you look at Pentecost which I think

[00:33:30] you were talking Paul was talking about in the scriptures he wrote a few where they

[00:33:34] received the spirit and were acting crazy from it and things like that and there are instances

[00:33:40] where that happens you know um but honestly we're talking about what's what's been official to us

[00:33:45] you know and today I mean what's the only knowledge that can think of this you know when he says

[00:33:53] keep filling yourself with the holy spirit it's like you know when he says my cup run at the

[00:33:58] silver I shall not want in in stone um is talking about how this cup is so full it's filling

[00:34:05] here to work because God's blessed him and it filled him so much um I think we need to be pouring

[00:34:12] our our holy spirit power out others into the world so that it can be filled again because

[00:34:18] how easy enough to fill a cup this is not empty that's the cup's already full just gonna still on

[00:34:24] the floor and be a waste so he's not gonna bother but if he knows you're gonna go if he knows

[00:34:30] you're gonna go by that guy sandwich or uh how did that guy change his tire or give that guy 20 bucks um

[00:34:37] give that guy a ride he's gonna bless you hey here's your here's your 20 back or it's not more like

[00:34:43] here's there's a hundred you know so you can keep doing the same thing because I know you're

[00:34:48] gonna do it like why wouldn't he continue to bless some I've seen it I've seen these stories of

[00:34:53] people doing that and they they just keep like churches will get like a million dollars from some unknown

[00:35:00] yeah some some unknown uh donate or and then they take the million dollars and they dump it right into

[00:35:08] some some mission or something and they help a lot of people out or paper so much stuff and it

[00:35:14] was like we just were obedient to what God called us to do they didn't tell us what to do with the

[00:35:20] money they just sent it to us and there was no name on it or anything and guess what the church is

[00:35:25] just a crossword you know I've never seen it time and time again um the Holy Spirit is definitely

[00:35:32] active um and just one last thought too that's like I don't think the Holy Spirit is something you

[00:35:38] can tap into or conjure because I've met I have friends that I think um believe that I don't know

[00:35:45] where religion there but it's like a conjuring of the Holy Spirit where he dances around and you try

[00:35:51] you know you try to and I mean this is it's fine to invite the Holy Spirit into the place but

[00:35:58] the Holy Spirit is not a lap dog he's not somebody you can call upon to

[00:36:06] get your making call you know you give enough praise for how enough or what having um and I think

[00:36:14] there's a whole portion of believers are in the church my or nature treat the Holy Spirit as a

[00:36:24] servant yes um yeah again that's kind of our our culture of just our ego culture like we feel

[00:36:31] like we're so important we want to just constantly do things that make us feel important and

[00:36:37] and and spiritual I guess at the same time um yeah if you don't think you're doing it

[00:36:46] it's probably happening yes probably happening um

[00:36:53] yeah I wanted to so again I guess yeah what I was what I was sharing was

[00:36:59] this is something that I've been given advice to two young adults it's just like

[00:37:07] spend private time with God like we don't do that enough um spend private time like just

[00:37:17] something happens like you could pour your heart out to him and I'm telling you your relationship

[00:37:23] with Yahweh God will grow just immensely if you just separate yourself from the damn cell phones

[00:37:30] and the computers and the TVs and you just set aside time and you say and all the time you know I

[00:37:37] I get woken up like just the other morning I got woken up and it felt like God wanted me to spend

[00:37:42] time with him and I didn't want to do it but you know I drug myself out and it didn't feel like

[00:37:47] I heard anything from God or anything it just it was just something that I wanted to be obedience

[00:37:52] to if I feel him telling me to spend time with him it's like I want to do that I want to

[00:37:57] I you're like Yahweh's my strategy like I want to know his heart I don't want to know

[00:38:03] my strategies and my plans and um you know my own desires they're always wrong so

[00:38:10] I'm willing to spend time even if it doesn't seem productive with him um but aside from that

[00:38:18] prayer and studying God's word I believe we'll just like we'll shift you into a different

[00:38:24] formal worship in our lives um like my favorite my favorite quote from Maddie Montgomery he says

[00:38:37] he says our job as Christians is to not reach the world for Christ our job is to be obedient

[00:38:42] to the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit will reach the world for Christ um I love that quote um

[00:38:51] all you know in our Christian culture again we're trying to make the biggest ministries and the

[00:39:00] biggest social media platforms and we're gonna you know people how many people are pastors just

[00:39:06] because it's a platform for people to listen to them like do they actually want to transform

[00:39:13] lives or are they just trying to get attention um that's my question so I think when you begin

[00:39:22] to spend private time with God you begin to worship him in a different way you start to follow the

[00:39:27] Holy Spirit you start to want to do what the Holy Spirit is saying you want to be obedient to

[00:39:32] the Holy Spirit and then because you know you're not going to be able to do anything um it's all

[00:39:39] because of God's grace and His mercy towards you uh so yeah I think doing those two things

[00:39:49] you're gonna start worshipping and being obedient to the Holy Spirit and God will bring other

[00:39:54] Christians in your life to fall back on like me and you have been friends I mean it was it felt so

[00:40:02] random how we got together but um I'm so thankful for the the people that God continues to bring

[00:40:09] around my life so um yeah just I just think that you start spending time private time with God you

[00:40:17] start reading His Word um you get transformed and He brings people in your life that's gonna help you

[00:40:26] stand firm in the faith yeah that's important man I think um you know when Jesus even makes

[00:40:36] the parable about the building your house on a foundation it's 30 and uh the one who built it on

[00:40:43] sand when the wind came it destroyed direction um and uh the parable over this so we're you know

[00:40:54] put seeds everywhere and to your point about and we're like oh you know you don't you know I

[00:40:59] could have let anyone to God uh the Holy Spirit is gonna do that you just need to uh be obedient

[00:41:04] to the Holy Spirit and that's what many of my gamers did but uh I remember my whole grab by it

[00:41:10] came out one day and was just like you know what you guys think because you know you guys think

[00:41:16] I'll bring my friend to church day or you know the pastor you're gonna stay your friend

[00:41:20] the other day I hope you preach about um the gospel tonight because my friend's favorite and

[00:41:25] they're not a believer and my rabbi was like you know what you have no clue with what you're doing

[00:41:31] as a believer uh uh you know obviously you know like my job is to equip you to go do that job

[00:41:38] you're I'm not doing it I'm I'm here to teach you so you can go into the world and you can be

[00:41:45] the one doing all those things don't bring people here you don't bring the world to the church and

[00:41:49] expect them it struck by lightning I mean now how ignorant and and and pride and honestly

[00:41:56] arrogant are we to think that that's how we're going to uh please God or save for you know souls

[00:42:04] and and help people um that's kind of as another selfish moment of look how many who I led to the

[00:42:10] Lord and it's like uh to what you said earlier Danji you know we you know we need we can only plant

[00:42:18] seeds and people buy our example and buy telling the truth of the soul um but we've neither created

[00:42:27] the seed nor do we have the power to cause it to grow just like break just like a real seed um

[00:42:35] in life he didn't create it they all you can do is put it in the ground and they put water on it

[00:42:41] and like you said stay stay firm in your faith and that's the watering of the of the seed you know

[00:42:48] um and you can eat this life shit you know this life when people who have made it can

[00:42:55] something that you you have the power to do and the Holy Spirit will help you get through all that too

[00:43:01] good yeah so I think uh oh do you have someone else there no go ahead

[00:43:08] just thank him man when you talk about me and you meeting um that for the end of the podcast

[00:43:14] we could uh post on like our our story we have some stories man um in our lives

[00:43:22] our short lives are up to 30 years now you know uh in a live where um god led us to do some

[00:43:29] our glasses to do something or and we just committed doing it in a worked out

[00:43:35] uh it's just weirdly and beautifully um maybe you want to talk about how even the period of

[00:43:42] black hog and how it came together 50 years do you know I mean so they're putting out this

[00:43:48] office just um this passage we did and stuff we can save you

[00:43:55] yeah I think the first thing that comes to my mind um

[00:44:01] was after I graduated from CU I just felt so lost like that place was my home for five years

[00:44:09] and I was just like where am I gonna go next what do I do um

[00:44:16] and I just kept feeling this inkling to move up to the mountain and I

[00:44:20] up where Luke lives and uh I didn't know how he was gonna do that um

[00:44:27] but you know I found an apartment up there and at the time my car had been my like

[00:44:35] my car had been uh stolen and gutted so I didn't have a I didn't have a car

[00:44:41] and um yeah somebody stole my car and uh or it broke down on the highway then

[00:44:48] then uh somebody stole it and ran through it but I didn't have a car and I moved up to the

[00:44:53] mountains and I was like how am I gonna how am I gonna you know drive anywhere like there's

[00:44:58] not like you can really walk um I mean it was like an hour walk to the small town so

[00:45:04] I get this apartment because I was just I felt like I was just being obedient to God he just wanted

[00:45:09] me up there and uh as I'm opening the door to my apartment for the first time uh I get a text

[00:45:18] from my dad saying that there's there's a you know a four-wheel drive truck available like

[00:45:23] perfectly in my price range and um you know it was just kind of like a it was like a light it

[00:45:29] was like God it just felt like God was just piecing things together for me um and all I did was

[00:45:35] just be obedient to him saying you know hey I want you to be closer to Luke I want you guys to

[00:45:40] you know work on music together and the podcast has grown since that um since I moved up there um

[00:45:51] so yeah it was just um I just kind of took a leap of faith and the spirit just keeps growing things

[00:45:58] like just this podcast like we kind of had just an idea of a bible study and then it turned into

[00:46:04] you know how do we get our music fans uh the fans of our music involved and um you know

[00:46:12] it's grown into this uh this weekly show that me and you have a lot of have a lot of fun with

[00:46:18] and it seems like each week it kind of grows a little bit more and a little bit more and a little

[00:46:23] bit more and so um I think that's just my advice to anybody if you feel like something's coming from

[00:46:30] God you you might as well just try to be obedient to that and then maybe he'll close the door

[00:46:36] but you you don't want to you don't want to feel like God's telling you to do something and then

[00:46:40] you just don't do it um I think you're you're better off trusting that God will correct you if

[00:46:47] if it's really that far off um and so just you feel like something's coming from the spirit

[00:46:54] just do it happens all the time I'm in a you know I'm in a the coffee shop or something and

[00:47:00] you know recently God told me to hey I want you to pray for that stranger felt like it was the

[00:47:07] Holy Spirit just kind of nudging me over and over hey I want you to pray for that stranger and I did

[00:47:13] and it didn't seem like they really were receptive of it but you know I felt like I was obedient to

[00:47:18] the Holy Spirit and you always feel you always feel like a sense of peace and a little bit of joy

[00:47:25] knowing that the Holy Spirit's guiding you every day so um yeah

[00:47:33] yeah that that's that's what that's what I wanted to just talk about man um yeah

[00:47:38] you know it's uh I think when you say you know just to be obedient to the um

[00:47:44] I think it was same thing with our drummer now uh justice too um I reached out to him about three

[00:47:52] years ago I felt like God wanted me to reach out to him and you know I didn't hear from him for

[00:47:58] three years and then you know randomly he hits us up so you know again it's just you know

[00:48:04] God's timing is different than ours so I just I feel like I was obedient to um

[00:48:09] you know just asking justice if you wanted to be the part of the band and uh you know now we're working with

[00:48:14] him yeah that was that was freaky to me um to go through that recently you know but uh

[00:48:26] but amazing you know I'm just so thankful for all that um I just never thought you know

[00:48:31] thought that's what God you know was gonna put in our

[00:48:36] after this and he probably thinks the same now and uh um when you see it from that perspective

[00:48:43] you're just like okay we didn't do anything to get to it I mean besides all you did was send

[00:48:51] an message or something and I see it in our algorithms on our phones instead of well

[00:48:58] both things that we were like oh I was just one at the other day because the Holy Spirit is talking

[00:49:03] about the both of us and showing us the same thing and music wise and things and sometimes a little

[00:49:08] in my Spotify playlist go on random and it'll just start going song after song after song that's

[00:49:14] like wow I feel like the Holy Spirit is operating this right now it's a bunch of Christian

[00:49:19] metal or it's just like a song that you need to hear about what I was thinking about and just like

[00:49:25] song after song and I'm like oh man this is not a random thanks to the slide but um you know

[00:49:33] I guess the other thing uh you know I think people will convince themselves that uh

[00:49:39] right away that uh oh that's not God telling me to do that and things like that um

[00:49:45] but uh you didn't try that hard honestly you know if you go through your whole life saying

[00:49:50] that never happens to me it's because you never tried or asked them to use you or was it

[00:49:55] able to be just I mean the devil's not gonna come in your ear and whisper agly at that guy sandwich

[00:50:02] um it just it's just seeing them cannot be divided yeah and if we if we believe what we're

[00:50:10] in scripture the body is there are the flesh is sinful among all things so it didn't come from

[00:50:17] your heart is she didn't come from your mind or your thoughts or your heart to help somebody else out

[00:50:22] you should have to be honest about it yeah I've I've noticed and I'm I'm trying to teach this to

[00:50:29] younger adults uh is is ask God what like what does he what do you want what does he want you to be a

[00:50:37] obedient to and you know typically he's already placed you in where he wants to do right now so it's

[00:50:43] just it's like giving putting your trust in Jesus is being obedient to you know whatever job

[00:50:51] you're in if you're a parent you know being obedient to to raising your kids like let God open

[00:50:57] the doors just be obedient where you're at and I noticed if you do that there's this sense of

[00:51:03] peace and the sense of like joy during uh when circumstances come um if you're just if you're just

[00:51:12] living to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and allowing him to open doors for you um just for me anyway

[00:51:20] that's just what I've noticed is there's this sense of peace in the things that I'm doing like with

[00:51:26] this with this band and the podcast and you know working at a church um and I've given my trust in God

[00:51:34] that he will open doors for me um there's a lot of things that I want to do um but I want to

[00:51:42] I want to I want to walk with God I don't want to jump ahead and try and do everything on my own

[00:51:48] because that just produces anxiety and depression and restlessness and things like that so

[00:51:55] I've been trying to teach young adults that is just if you're just obedient to where you know

[00:51:59] God has placed you he will open the doors for you and there's this like sense of there's just

[00:52:03] this real sense of peace that I've found um by doing that. I can attest to even in my earlier uh

[00:52:14] you know days uh from 18 up uh they're like 23 or 24 but when uh you know I think a lot of people

[00:52:22] also think if it's too rough or it gets too difficult it might not be where God wants me to be

[00:52:27] going and they just turn around and like you said he'll correct your course it is actually

[00:52:33] important to him. I think about Jonah, I think about Paul being blinded um trust me no I have a

[00:52:40] story uh I had it in my heart to go out to Georgia and uh join and start a metal Christian metal band

[00:52:48] I wanted to do it so bad like all the bands that I like and I'm like in my mind I'm like there's gotta

[00:52:53] be sleep Christian metalheads in Georgia um you know in the south over there and stuff and

[00:52:59] I'm behold I get over there and there's a guy that comes right up to me. Hey what kind of music do you

[00:53:04] like start to listen to him? I'm like oh just band this band and he's like oh cool man yeah uh

[00:53:10] you know you might get the other jam later and he's totally a hardcore guy and then we pieced

[00:53:16] together uh three other guys that are in ministries on campus at the moment and I mean

[00:53:21] you're talking a window of four years of people going to school here you know that these guys were

[00:53:26] like ready to play this music and write new music from scratch and then so that was amazing and I just

[00:53:32] felt um it's only intent and with Holy Spirit during that time like nothing could uh go wrong

[00:53:40] and if it did it wasn't gonna be that bad it was gonna be uh terrible um and then somewhere between

[00:53:48] staying out there and the band was over with and a few years later um I had this pressing

[00:53:54] desire in my heart to come back to Colorado um to see my family and for once and stay back

[00:54:00] over here um because this is what guy did he made a little bit too tiring to be where I was at

[00:54:07] living by myself and in Georgia working on the railroad so I wanted to change and I uh came back

[00:54:14] home to Colorado and within a year of being back here started another band with my brother and

[00:54:20] it was finding neverland um and so the road was definitely not smooth I could have just accepted

[00:54:27] every single obstacle of like this is never gonna get off the ground the music's never gonna

[00:54:32] work you know like nobody's worth the crap to you know uh the count on and stuff and um

[00:54:40] you know to do is for the right reasons whatever they're not talented and you know it's not gonna

[00:54:44] sound good all this stuff then take James uh newfound uh position in this in this band um it's been 10

[00:54:54] years since this band even played a live show if you want to save this band as an idea of

[00:54:59] finding neverland um and this is just as used to be the guitar player in that old band but so it's

[00:55:05] 10 years for him too before coming back to meet with us um talk about like feeling so strongly

[00:55:14] about something you don't stop trying to do it until it you know until guys like now I want you

[00:55:20] to do it um and there's probably a myriad of reasons that I don't even know you need to know the answer

[00:55:25] to to just keep going with you um and that's kind of I learned that the first time going out to

[00:55:33] Georgia and I was like year we go again uh you know 10 years of not feeling like

[00:55:38] not wanting to do any other band not wanting to do any other project or anything

[00:55:42] but just focused on this idea and doing my doing what like he said staying obedient to everything

[00:55:47] else like my family my job uh taking care of things like that um for 10 years you know and uh

[00:55:59] uh yeah you just you just don't know what's on the other side um yeah so uh it's good good stuff

[00:56:10] yeah uh yeah I realized the Holy Spirit has another name and that's something we call them

[00:56:15] something like something is pulling on my heart to do to do this it will just it was just like

[00:56:21] yeah it's always just this like cool and you're just not really do you're like

[00:56:27] and it feels like your flesh wants to go the other direction and usually

[00:56:32] you kind of have to you have to you know fight to go

[00:56:37] towards what the Spirit is telling you because you know naturally

[00:56:40] you're gonna want to go against it

[00:56:45] yeah uh and then can we I don't know if we can be confident in this but like if someone

[00:56:51] using the term my heart or my heart yeah how many times is that your conscience or is that

[00:57:00] actually the heart itself which is deceitful among all things like when he says deceitful above

[00:57:08] all things he's talking about everything he creates like uh that's pretty intense

[00:57:14] be labeled uh that detrimental to put your all your eggs in one basket or your hope and

[00:57:22] your heart because our desires are even you know our desires are evil at the core um our intentions

[00:57:30] are not good but it says no one is good but God you know our Jesus said Jesus said that himself

[00:57:37] being God in the flesh himself made a point to say when they say good teacher he said no one

[00:57:42] is good but God yeah I really really felt like I really felt like Jesus was teaching

[00:57:49] like we our idea of good is way off it is we changed like I put this on Facebook recently I know

[00:57:59] where but you know you know got created these words for us to live by but we had spent

[00:58:08] every single day and in a minute since those words were invented defining them for us so

[00:58:15] putting new definitions to them and redefining them and uh completely warping the original

[00:58:23] meaning of the words and the reason they were created in the first place um evil that's just

[00:58:29] mass murderers commit you know good that's when you do mostly good things in life and you're like

[00:58:41] just ask yourself in comparison to Yeshua Jesus Christ you didn't do anything good your good is

[00:58:51] scum you know uh he thinks you're you're measuring up to some level of uh spent like even I mean

[00:59:00] sorry uh you know Buddhist monks and people who believe in reincarnation you're not even on the

[00:59:07] scale you're not even met not even on the first take mark of the ruler uh on your good deeds

[00:59:13] thinking that you're going to inherit new uh like good deeds is like filthy brags

[00:59:21] yeah so cool man uh paint people either all

[00:59:30] oh yeah oh yeah really just the original thing of uh Lucifer

[01:01:21] look into that um such a like and and and comparatively to most documents and books this is

[01:01:30] that's the short these are short um like if bible was not not a big document um so in such a short

[01:01:40] book inside the bible like Galatians or something all that is just packed full of meat

[01:01:46] and then the bible was not by any stretch in comparison to any other book we have is not

[01:01:54] exhausted like people had been taught to believe um it's just not just look up

[01:02:00] statistics of other historical books um they will they will put you to sleep compared to this

[01:02:07] collection so in this this not being huge collection in comparison

[01:02:13] it has more information and more life in it than any other book ever written because we can't

[01:02:19] get any to come close to the word of God. Amen dude good show tonight um

[01:04:13] you know needs your help too and uh I think that's the church needs help just just equip us with the

[01:04:24] desire to do those things or in the power to carry them out and that's always what you do or

[01:04:29] you don't ask us to do anything without giving us the power to carry it out and you don't

[01:04:36] bring anything across our path in life or hazardous to experience anything that you

[01:04:43] have not already given us the power uh from birth to endure it and uh endure it with

[01:04:50] the joy that is in knowing Yeshua um and uh it's our eyes on the cross God um

[01:05:00] and just anything that doesn't align with your truths

[01:05:04] cast it down cast it down that the foot of the cross were he hung from

[01:05:09] uh the flesh needs to be burned always spirit

[01:05:13] burn our flesh but burn our sinful beings and renew us daily um in our minds and our souls

[01:05:25] and uh Lord just pray for everybody's help also um mid uh anybody who is sick now and uh

[01:05:34] and are going through any pain or suffering Lord that should visit them and uh you would

[01:05:40] uh heal them completely um just fully heal them uh in your power you know everything and you

[01:05:48] have the power to do anything more so we just ask for your blessing on the faithful and uh also

[01:05:54] on the ones who aren't believers God um you know um you send rain on the uh righteous and and

[01:06:01] righteous alike so um thank God that we aren't you um you are slow to anger and uh

[01:06:12] quick to love so thank you God we aren't we aren't in your position
