We cannot allow the fear of what people think to stop us from fulfilling the purpose that God has given us. Others were not given the vision that God gave you, and their opinions should have no influence on how you execute that vision—especially when you're guided by the Holy Spirit.
[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host Elgin Carelock.
[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,
[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_00]: rightly dividing the word of truth, and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.
[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast. And now, here's Elgin.
[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of our risen Savior, Jesus to Christ,
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: to another edition of Words of Inspiration, where we explore how God's word empowers us to live with boldness and purpose.
[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And today, we will be discussing a crucial topic, Whom Shall I Fear?
[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Our inspiration comes from Romans 8, verse 31. And reading from the New International Version, it reads,
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_01]: The primary thought being, we cannot allow the fear of what people think to stop us from fulfilling the purpose that God has given us.
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Others were not given the vision that God gave you, and their opinion should have no influence on how you execute that vision,
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: especially when you're guided by the Holy Spirit.
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the most common things that holds us back is the fear of people's opinion.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We worry about being misunderstood or judged or even rejected because others might not see or understand the vision God has placed in your heart.
[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But the truth is, God did not give that vision to anyone else. He gave it to you.
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: We see this all the time in Scripture. When God called Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt, there were many doubters.
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_01]: When God gave Joseph dreams about his future leadership, even his own brothers mocked him.
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: But neither of these men allowed the fear of others' opinion to stop them from fulfilling their God-given purpose.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: In Romans 8.31, Paul reminds us that if God is for us, who can be against us?
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: This verse doesn't mean we won't face opposition.
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It means that the opposition we face is insignificant compared to the power of God's purpose for our lives.
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_01]: If God has called you to something, no one else's opinion should stop you from stepping into that calling.
[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Here's something we need to remember. Others were not given the vision God gave you.
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_01]: This means that they won't always understand it. And that's okay.
[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_01]: We are each created uniquely with special gifts, purposes and visions.
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_01]: When we allow other people's doubt or negativity to influence us,
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: we run the risk of missing out on the very thing God has called us to do.
[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: In the story of Nehemiah, when he set out to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem,
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: there were people who mocked him, questioned his ability and actually tried to stop him.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But Nehemiah stayed focused on the mission God had given him,
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_01]: trusting in God's guidance instead of being distracted by the noise around him.
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Proverbs 29 and 25 reminds us,
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Fear of man will prove to be a snare.
[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_01]: If we focus too much on what others think, it becomes a trap that holds us back.
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: But when we trust in God and move forward in faith,
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: we are protected and empowered to fulfill our purpose.
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The Holy Spirit is our guide.
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And when we rely on him,
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: we can be confident that we are walking in God's will.
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Other people may not understand why you're making certain decisions or pursuing certain goals,
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: but the Holy Spirit knows exactly what God has called you to do.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: When Jesus was on earth, many people didn't understand his mission.
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Even his own disciples struggled to grasp the full picture at times.
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: But Jesus was steadfast because he knew he was guided by the Spirit.
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't swayed by people's opinions or by the fear of rejection.
[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Galatians 1 and 10 says,
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings or of God?
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Or am I trying to please people?
[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_01]: If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_01]: As we pursue our God-given purposes, our primary goal should be to please God, not people.
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: The approval of others may feel comforting, but the approval of God is what truly matters.
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_01]: To fulfill the purpose God has placed in your life, you have to be bold.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: You have to trust that the vision God has given you is real and that his guidance is enough.
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: The opinions of others may try to pull you off course, but remember, if God is for us, who can be against us?
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: When we walk in faith and obedience, God equips us with everything we need to succeed in his purpose.
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't need the approval of people to fulfill the vision that God has given you.
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_01]: You only need his approval and he is already on your side.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So brothers and sisters, let's remember the powerful truth of Romans 8 and 31.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: If God is for you, no one can stand against you.
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: The fear of people's opinions will only hold you back if you let it.
[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Trust the vision God has placed in your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to guide your every step.
[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_01]: You were created for a purpose and no one else's doubt or fear should have the power to stop you.
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I thank you for spending time with me on today.
[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And I look forward to our time together on tomorrow.
