[00:00:37] Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host Elgin Carelock.
[00:00:42] The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,
[00:00:49] rightly dividing the word of truth, and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.
[00:00:55] You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast.
[00:00:59] And now, here's Elgin.
[00:01:02] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of our risen Savior, Jesus the Christ,
[00:01:08] to another episode of Words of Inspiration,
[00:01:12] where we explore the timeless wisdom of Scripture and its relevance to our lives today.
[00:01:18] This is the fifth episode in our series, Children of the Light.
[00:01:24] And today, our topic is, Transforming Culture.
[00:01:28] With our scriptural instauration being, 2 Timothy, Chapter 2, Verse 2.
[00:01:37] And from the New Living Translation it reads,
[00:01:41] You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses.
[00:01:47] Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people, who will be able to pass them on to others.
[00:01:54] As we look around our communities and the world,
[00:01:59] it's easy to see how much we have changed from a God-fearing society to one that is driven by consumption.
[00:02:08] And by that I mean, we're more concerned with material gain than we are with the lives of the people around us.
[00:02:17] If we just look at the way people drive, you can see it's all about them,
[00:02:22] and they have no consideration for rules, laws, or other people.
[00:02:28] For me, this is a combination of things being manifested.
[00:02:32] The lack of strong biblical knowledge, understanding, and application.
[00:02:39] So today, we're going to look at what we need to do to help transform our current culture
[00:02:44] from one of everyone for themselves to one that focuses on pleasing God and serving people.
[00:02:53] This is not just about making a difference individually,
[00:02:57] but about creating a ripple effect that impacts generations.
[00:03:02] In our anchor scripture, it emphasizes the importance of teaching and mentorship.
[00:03:09] Paul's words to Timothy were clear.
[00:03:12] Pass on the teachings to trustworthy people who will then teach others.
[00:03:18] This biblical blueprint for discipleship isn't just about knowledge transfer.
[00:03:23] It's about cultivating a living, breathing faith that grows and multiplies.
[00:03:29] Teaching God's word is a powerful tool for cultural transformation and kingdom expansion.
[00:03:37] As Colossians 1 and 28 reminds us,
[00:03:41] we strive to present Christ fully formed in the hearts of others.
[00:03:46] By teaching biblical truth, we expose the darkness of sin and the hope of salvation,
[00:03:52] empowering individuals to live lives that glorify God.
[00:03:57] Through effective teaching, we equip believers to discern truth from error,
[00:04:03] to resist the temptations of the world,
[00:04:05] and to engage in meaningful conversation with those who do not know Christ.
[00:04:11] As the word of God is proclaimed and understood,
[00:04:14] it has the potential to reshape hearts, minds, and societies,
[00:04:19] bringing about lasting change and advancing the kingdom of God.
[00:04:24] The Bible encourages believers to be willing to teach and share their knowledge of God's word,
[00:04:30] but it also includes cautions to ensure this responsibility is taken seriously and carried out appropriately.
[00:04:40] Titus 2 verses 1 through 3, reading from the New International Version reads,
[00:04:47] You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
[00:04:52] Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and endurance.
[00:05:02] Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live,
[00:05:07] not to be slanderers or addicted to too much wine,
[00:05:11] but to teach what is good.
[00:05:14] When sharing the word of God with others,
[00:05:17] it must come from a place of knowledge and understanding.
[00:05:20] Otherwise, we run the risk of hindering our purpose and the purpose of those who listen to us.
[00:05:28] 1 Timothy 4 and 16 reads,
[00:05:32] Watch your life and doctrine closely.
[00:05:34] Persevere in them.
[00:05:36] Because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
[00:05:43] Another tool in transforming cultures is mentorship.
[00:05:48] Proverbs 27 and 17 says,
[00:05:51] As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
[00:05:55] When we invest time and effort into guiding others,
[00:06:00] we sharpen their faith and our own.
[00:06:03] It's a symbiotic relationship that builds strong, resilient communities rooted in Christ.
[00:06:10] As Paul charges Timothy in 2 Timothy,
[00:06:14] we are called to pass on the truths we have learned to others,
[00:06:18] creating a ripple effect of discipleship.
[00:06:21] By investing in the lives of others,
[00:06:24] we equip them to become faithful stewards of God's word
[00:06:28] and active agents of change.
[00:06:31] Through mentorship,
[00:06:33] we cultivate spiritual maturity,
[00:06:35] impart wisdom,
[00:06:36] and encourage others to live out their faith with boldness.
[00:06:41] As more and more believers are empowered and equipped,
[00:06:44] the kingdom of God advances,
[00:06:47] transforming cultures one heart at a time.
[00:06:50] So how do we practically invest in the spiritual growth of others?
[00:06:56] Here are a few steps.
[00:06:58] Number one, be available.
[00:07:01] Like Jesus was with his disciples.
[00:07:05] Be present and accessible.
[00:07:07] Build genuine relationships with those around you.
[00:07:12] Number two, share wisdom.
[00:07:14] Impart knowledge and insight from your own faith journey.
[00:07:18] Be honest about struggles and victories.
[00:07:22] Let people know what the Holy Spirit has shared with you through your study time
[00:07:27] and give them advice on things that you have already come through.
[00:07:33] Number three, pray together.
[00:07:36] Make prayer a cornerstone of your relationships.
[00:07:40] Pray for guidance, wisdom, and strength.
[00:07:44] Number four, encourage and challenge.
[00:07:48] Offer encouragement and general challenges to help them grow.
[00:07:53] Convince them to read a certain section of the Bible every day
[00:07:57] and then to come back and share with you what they learned.
[00:08:03] And finally, lead by example.
[00:08:07] Your life is the most powerful lesson.
[00:08:10] Let them see Christ in your every action.
[00:08:14] Brothers and sisters, as children of light,
[00:08:17] we are called to actively engage in transforming our culture
[00:08:21] by investing in others.
[00:08:23] Let's embrace this calling with joy and dedication,
[00:08:27] knowing that our efforts will bear fruit for the kingdom of God.
[00:08:32] If you've been inspired by today's episode,
[00:08:35] share it with someone who could benefit from it.
[00:08:38] Let's continue to shine brightly and make lasting impact.
[00:08:43] Stay blessed and keep spreading the light.
[00:08:47] I thank you for spending time with me on today
[00:08:51] and I look forward to our time together on tomorrow.
