[00:00:00] Welcome to the Bible Speaks with your host, Elgin Carelock. The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, rightly dividing the word of truth and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.

[00:00:55] You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast, and now here's Elgin. In other instances I welcome you from wherever you are, whenever you are, and whoever you are.

[00:01:11] To another edition of Words of Inspiration, and today we will have a discussion on the topic of pitching Tents. Our spiritual inspiration comes from Romans chapter 12 verse 2. In reading from the New International version it reads, Do not conform to the pattern of this world.

[00:01:37] But be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and prove what God's will is. He's good, pleasing, and perfect will. If we listen to the world meaning popular culture, we should dress a certain way

[00:02:00] to try a certain car, and measure our lives by, and measure our lives by what things we are able to accumulate. While Jesus died that we may have in abundant life it was not all material gain and self-satisfaction.

[00:02:19] When Jesus speaks of giving life more abundantly he means a life enriched with the spiritual death, eternal significance, and divine fulfillment. It is a life that transcends mere physical existence, offering a profound connection with God, characterized by peace, joy, freedom, purpose, and fruit of the Spirit.

[00:02:47] Having this understanding we must realize that our home is in heaven with our father. Our time on earth is about a series of seasons. During these seasons we have things, people and events that move in and out of our lives from one place to another.

[00:03:09] And just like we read about it in Abraham's journey he pitched tense in all the places that he lived, which is evidence and Hebrews 11 verses 9 through 10. Get reading from the New International version.

[00:03:26] By faith he made this home in a promise land like a stranger in a foreign country. He lived in tense as dead Isaac and Jacob, who were areas of him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations whose architect and builder is

[00:03:47] God. What the word is telling us is that as we obey the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are to move. That move may mean we have to pull up our lives and things that are comfortable to us and do something else.

[00:04:05] I lived in Atlanta, Georgia for 23 years. During that time I built some amazing relationships, a career that was very fulfilling. I had an amazing church home and family all around. And by wife and I had just moved into the home of our dreams, what a single conversation

[00:04:30] changed the course of everything. I was having a conversation with a colleague of mine who worked in one of the centers in Atlanta and she had been promoted to have her own center in Florida.

[00:04:49] And during our time talking I was kidding with her and I said, hey, you want me to come down there and be a marketing director. She said, would you? I was like, sure. Do you want to have me? She said absolutely.

[00:05:07] So started the conversation about me moving to Florida. Now I haven't been in this home that I mentioned to you for 30 days yet. So I go home and I tell my wife about the opportunity to move the central Florida, although

[00:05:26] most of her family lived in Atlanta or kids lived in Atlanta. And as I said, we had career friend, great church family. But her response was, that's fine. Just let me know what I need to do. And so in that moment, I realized that that was confirmation.

[00:05:51] And so I went to my boss and told him about the discussion. And he went to his boss and told to her about the discussion. And three weeks later, I was in Florida.

[00:06:11] There were those who thought I was absolutely out of my mind to leave the life that I had in Atlanta to come to a small town in Central Florida. But I did. And I've been here now for 15 years. And here too, I have amazing people in my circle.

[00:06:33] I have bad teas. I have clients. Wonderful church family. I remember the community, many boys that I sit on. And have the opportunity to touch people's lives in ways that I never would have in the city as large as Atlanta. So what am I telling you?

[00:06:55] What I'm saying to you is that too many times we take situations and seasons in our lives as our permanent fixture. We build houses in situations that should have been tense. We try to poor foundation and build walls around things that we have come to be attached

[00:07:21] to, whether it's a home, whether it's a car, whether it's a person. But as the Lord sees fit, there are times when it's time to take up your tent and move it on. It doesn't always mean that you have to move to another state.

[00:07:43] It could be just people who are in your life for now. We're not designed to be there for the long term. You were just involved with them for whatever purpose the Lord had for them to pour into your life or you to pour into their life.

[00:08:03] But when it's time to move on, it's time to move on. We resist it because we don't like change and so sometimes the Lord has to allow him to come between the two of you.

[00:08:17] And so an argument in Susan or some other action in Susan's that sometimes seems totally out of character for the relationship but it destroys it. Sometimes irrefably. We deal with the feelings that go along with that, but understanding that God's purpose is for us to continually grow.

[00:08:43] As we grow, then we outgrow something that we have become accustomed to. Confident levels. People. But remember, we were called to earth. We weren't just born. There was a unique scenario on the earth realm that God called you to this planet to solve.

[00:09:11] And with the concept of seasons we understand that different times have different purposes. I remember once I was working with a person and my contract was to help them transition from one CEO to the other.

[00:09:33] And this process took right out of year but at the end of the year they didn't renew the contract. At first I did feel a little hurt by that because we had built a good relationship over

[00:09:47] that year but it just as I've explained it to you in this conversation, I'd serve my purpose. My purpose was to get that transition across smoothly where all parties were happy and that the business could flourish from that point.

[00:10:06] But once I did that it was time for me to take up my tent and move on. So what tent are you trying to make into a house? What is it that you feel in your spirit that is time to move on but are afraid to because

[00:10:24] we don't like change, we're always comfortable. You have to remember that God's plan for your life is going to be better than anything we could come up with on our own and the scripture does bear that out.

[00:10:38] So brothers and sisters I say be bold, be encouraged and of good cheer. I understand that God loves you. Jesus died for you and the Holy Spirit is there to empower you. So what is time for you to take up your tent? Do so gladly.

[00:10:58] Look forward to what's next and understand it's all working for your good. I thank you for spending time with me on today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to our discussion on Sunday. Until then God bless.
