[00:00:37] Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host Elgin Carelock. The Bible Speaks is a daily

[00:00:44] podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, rightly dividing the word

[00:00:50] of truth and learning how to apply it to our daily lives. You may contact Elgin at the address

[00:00:57] given at the end of the broadcast. And now here's Elgin.

[00:01:02] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach to another edition

[00:01:09] of Words of Inspiration where we are in an ongoing series titled Walk with the Wise, a study in

[00:01:18] the book of Proverbs. Today we're diving into our second topic, Live Righteously and Avoid

[00:01:26] Foolishness. Our inspiration comes from Proverbs chapter 4 verse 23 and reading from the New

[00:01:35] International Version it reads, Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows

[00:01:44] from it. This verse is a powerful reminder that the condition of our heart shapes every part

[00:01:51] of our life. So I wanted to explore what it means to live righteously, protect our hearts, and avoid the

[00:01:58] foolishness that can derail our purpose. Proverbs 4 and 23 emphasizes the importance of guarding our

[00:02:06] hearts because everything we do flows from what's inside. Our hearts are the center of our thoughts,

[00:02:14] emotions, emotions, and desires, and the influence our actions. If our hearts are not aligned with God,

[00:02:22] it becomes easy to make choices that lead us away from his will. Righteous living is about intentionally

[00:02:29] protecting our hearts. It's about filling our hearts with God's word, surrounding ourselves with

[00:02:36] godly influences, and being vigilant about who we allow in our lives. When we guard our hearts,

[00:02:43] we create a space where God's character can be reflected in our decisions. Matthew 5 and 8 says,

[00:02:51] Bless are the pure in heart, for they will see God. A pure heart allows us to see God's will clearly

[00:02:59] and make decisions that honor him. Righteous living isn't just about avoiding sin. It's about actively

[00:03:09] choosing what is right and just. Proverbs 21 and 3 tells us, to do what is right and just is more

[00:03:18] acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. This means we're called to make decisions that reflect God's

[00:03:25] character. Decisions rooted in love, integrity, and compassion. Living righteously means treating others

[00:03:34] with kindness, being honest in our interactions, and standing up for what's right, even when it's hard.

[00:03:42] But how do we consistently make these choices? By keeping our hearts aligned with God's wisdom.

[00:03:50] When we meditate on scripture and spend time in prayer, our hearts become more attuned to God's ways,

[00:03:57] and making righteous choices becomes more natural. Proverbs has a lot to say about avoiding foolishness.

[00:04:08] Proverbs 14 and 12 warns us, there is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death.

[00:04:18] Foolishness often comes in the form of a decision that seems harmless or even wise in the moment,

[00:04:24] but ultimately leads to destruction. It can look like giving into peer pressure, pursuing selfish desires,

[00:04:34] or ignoring wise counsel. These traps can derail our purpose and lead us away from God's best for our

[00:04:41] lives. Proverbs 13 and 20 gives another key to avoiding foolishness. Walk with the wise and become wise.

[00:04:53] For a companion of fools suffers harm. Surrounding ourselves with wise and godly people helps us to stay on the right path.

[00:05:04] Community matters. The people we choose to walk with influences our decisions, so it's crucial to have

[00:05:11] relationships that encourage us to live wisely. So I wanted to give you a few practical steps to live

[00:05:21] righteously. Number one, guard your heart. Be mindful of what you consume, whether it's media,

[00:05:30] conversation, or relationships. Ask yourself, is this drawing me closer to God or pulling me away?

[00:05:38] Number two, meditate on God's word. Spend time daily reading and reflecting on scripture.

[00:05:47] Let God's truth shape your heart and guide your decisions.

[00:05:53] Number three, seek wise counsel. Don't isolate yourself. Seek advice from mentors, pastors,

[00:06:01] or friends who walk in God's wisdom. Their insight can help you avoid foolish choices.

[00:06:08] And number four, pray for discernment. Ask God to give you a discerning heart so that you can

[00:06:16] recognize foolishness and choose what is right. Brothers and sisters, living righteously and avoiding

[00:06:24] foolishness is about more than following a set of rules. It's about aligning our hearts with God

[00:06:31] and choosing to live in a way that honors him. Proverbs 4 and 23 reminds us that the heart is the

[00:06:38] wellspring of life and protecting it is essential to fulfilling our God-given purpose. As we walk with

[00:06:46] the wise through the book of Proverbs, let's commit to guarding our hearts, making decisions that reflect

[00:06:53] God's character and steering clear of foolishness. Remember, wisdom isn't just about knowledge. It's about

[00:07:02] applying God's truth in every area of our lives. If today's message has challenged you or encouraged you,

[00:07:11] I'd love for you to share it with someone else who needs to hear it. And remember, wisdom is a journey,

[00:07:18] one that begins with guarding our hearts and choosing to live righteously. Keep walking with the wise

[00:07:25] and may God's wisdom guide your steps. I thank you for spending time with me on today

[00:07:32] and I look forward to our conversation on tomorrow. Until then, God bless.
