[00:00:37] Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host Elgin Carelock.
[00:00:42] The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,
[00:00:49] rightly dividing the word of truth, and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.
[00:00:55] You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast.
[00:00:59] And now, here's Elgin.
[00:01:02] Brothers and Sisters, I welcome you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit
[00:01:09] to another edition of Words of Inspiration,
[00:01:15] where we explore how to live a Christian-centered life in every season.
[00:01:21] And today's topic is one that speaks to all of us, especially those who are driven to succeed.
[00:01:29] Learning how to be led.
[00:01:33] Our spiritual inspiration comes from John 10, verse 27, where Jesus said,
[00:01:41] My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me.
[00:01:47] This verse reminds us that being led by Jesus and the Holy Spirit is key to walking in our God-given purpose.
[00:01:56] But if you're someone who has relied on your talents and instincts to achieve success,
[00:02:02] submission can feel like a whole new challenge.
[00:02:06] A level of focus and surrender that doesn't come naturally.
[00:02:11] So let's talk about why this is important, and how to embrace it.
[00:02:18] For those of us who have been achievers, people who know how to set goals, work hard, and make things happen,
[00:02:26] submission can feel counterintuitive.
[00:02:29] After all, God gave us these talents and abilities for a reason, right?
[00:02:36] It's easy to think I've handled things just fine up until now,
[00:02:40] but the reality is, the life God has for us, the exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or imagine,
[00:02:49] as Ephesians 3.20 describes, can only be accessed through submission to Him.
[00:02:58] Here's the challenge.
[00:03:00] Our flesh wants to maintain the same level of control we've always had.
[00:03:06] We're used to being in the driver's seat, making decisions based on logic, strategy, and past successes.
[00:03:15] But walking with Jesus requires us to let Him take the lead, even when it feels uncomfortable or doesn't make sense to us in the moment.
[00:03:24] John 10.27 is a powerful reminder that listening to Jesus and following His voice isn't just about obedience, it's about trust.
[00:03:36] As the Good Shepherd, Jesus knows us intimately.
[00:03:41] He knows the path we're supposed to take, even when we can't see it.
[00:03:46] Trusting His leadership means believing that His plan is not only better than ours,
[00:03:51] but that it leads to a life far greater than what we could achieve on our own.
[00:03:57] Think about it.
[00:03:58] When we insist on maintaining control, we limit ourselves to what we can see and understand.
[00:04:06] But when we let go and allow the Holy Spirit to lead, we step into a realm where God's power and purpose takes over.
[00:04:14] This is where the true blessings, the ones that exceed our imagination, are found.
[00:04:22] For achievers, submission isn't about weakness.
[00:04:25] It's about redirecting your strength.
[00:04:29] It's about taking that same drive and focus you've used to succeed in the past and applying it to following Jesus.
[00:04:40] Submission becomes a heightened level of focus, one that prioritizes listening to God's voice above all else.
[00:04:49] This doesn't mean abandoning your talents or instincts.
[00:04:53] It means allowing God to refine and redirect them for His glory.
[00:04:57] When we submit, we don't lose ourselves.
[00:05:01] We discover who we were created to be.
[00:05:05] The success we experience becomes not just about personal achievement,
[00:05:10] but about fulfilling a purpose that impacts others and brings God glory.
[00:05:17] So how do we practice being led by Jesus and the Holy Spirit?
[00:05:22] Here are a few practical steps.
[00:05:26] Number one, daily surrender.
[00:05:29] Start each day with the prayer of surrender, asking God to guide your steps and to help you hear His voice clearly.
[00:05:37] Number two, seek His word.
[00:05:41] Spend time in Scripture to understand God's character and His promises.
[00:05:46] This builds your trust in Him.
[00:05:49] Number three, listen in prayer.
[00:05:53] Prayer isn't just about talking.
[00:05:55] It's about listening.
[00:05:57] Take time to sit in silence and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you.
[00:06:03] Number four, obey promptings.
[00:06:06] When you feel the Holy Spirit leading you to act or to wait, choose obedience, even if it goes against your instincts.
[00:06:15] And number five, reflect and adjust.
[00:06:20] Regularly reflect on your actions and ask yourself if they align with God's will.
[00:06:25] Or was it your own desires?
[00:06:30] Brothers and sisters, the full realization of your purpose, the life that is exceedingly abundantly above, only comes through allowing Jesus to be your Lord.
[00:06:41] It's not about abandoning your drive or talents, but about letting God take those gifts and use them in ways you could never imagine.
[00:06:51] So I'll ask you, are you ready to let go of control and let God lead?
[00:06:57] Are you ready to step into a life where His power, not your own, guides your decisions?
[00:07:04] It's not easy, but it's worth it.
[00:07:07] The Good Shepherd is calling and His voice leads to a life of purpose, peace, and eternal impact.
[00:07:14] If this message has encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded that letting go is strength and wisdom.
[00:07:24] And God's way is higher and better than our way.
[00:07:29] I thank you for spending time with me on today.
[00:07:32] And I look forward to our time on tomorrow.
[00:07:35] Until then, God bless.
