[00:00:49] dividing the word of truth and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.

[00:01:00] And now here's Elgin.
[00:01:02] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
[00:01:10] to another episode of Words of Inspiration where we explore the wisdoms of Scripture and how
[00:01:17] it applies to our everyday lives.
[00:01:19] And today we're talking about a topic that hits home for many of us.
[00:01:26] Keeping Your Head Above Water
[00:01:29] Life can be overwhelming, whether it's financial pressures, relationship struggles, health concerns,
[00:01:37] or the uncertainty of the future.
[00:01:40] There are times when we feel like we're barely keeping our head above water.
[00:01:45] But in these moments of anxiety and stress, Jesus gives us powerful words of comfort and
[00:01:50] direction.
[00:01:52] Our inspiration today comes from Matthew 6, verse 25.
[00:01:58] And reading from the New International Version it reads,
[00:02:03] Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or
[00:02:09] about your body, what you will wear.
[00:02:13] Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes?
[00:02:18] It's a simple yet profound truth.
[00:02:22] We are not meant to be consumed by worry.
[00:02:25] Jesus is calling us to lift our eyes off of our circumstances and focus on something bigger,
[00:02:32] something far more important than the immediate needs and pressures of life.
[00:02:37] He's calling us to focus on God as the ultimate source of our relief and peace.
[00:02:45] So, Sister Judy and I are going to explore with you what this means and how we can keep
[00:02:51] our heads above water when life feels like it's pulling us under.
[00:02:58] So first let's talk about worry.
[00:03:01] Worry is like trying to swim with weights tied to your ankles.
[00:03:06] It drags you down.
[00:03:08] It keeps your focus fixed on the immediate concerns on what you lack and what might happen.
[00:03:16] But Jesus is inviting us to let go of those weights.
[00:03:20] He's saying, don't worry about your life, what you will eat, what you will wear.
[00:03:26] Why?
[00:03:27] Because life is so much more than the sum of those concerns.
[00:03:32] In Philippians 4 and 6, Paul reinforces this idea.
[00:03:39] Do not be anxious about anything.
[00:03:42] But in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God.
[00:03:51] Instead of sinking under the weight of worry, we are called to bring our concerns to God in prayer.
[00:03:58] He is our source of relief and when we lay our burdens at His feet, we begin to rise above the flood waters of life's anxieties.
[00:04:09] Hello everyone.
[00:04:11] When we're overwhelmed it's easy to believe that we're the ones responsible for keeping everything together.
[00:04:18] But in Matthew 6, 25, Jesus is reminding us that God knows exactly what we need.
[00:04:26] Just a few verses later, Matthew 6, 32 and 33, Jesus says,
[00:04:33] Your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
[00:04:36] But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.
[00:04:44] This is the key.
[00:04:47] Instead of focusing on what's missing or what's worrying you, focus on God's kingdom.
[00:04:54] Shift your attention from the problems to the one who holds your future.
[00:05:00] God is fully aware of your needs and He is more than capable of providing.
[00:05:06] When you trust Him, you'll find that the very things you were worrying about are taken care of in His perfect timing.
[00:05:16] Part of keeping your head above water is letting go of control.
[00:05:20] We often get overwhelmed because we feel like we have to fix everything,
[00:05:25] solve every problem and carry every burden.
[00:05:29] But Jesus is calling us to release that control to Him.
[00:05:35] In 1 Peter 5 and 7, we're told,
[00:05:39] Cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.
[00:05:45] This is an active choice.
[00:05:47] We have to make the decision to stop focusing on the chaos around us
[00:05:52] and trust that God is working on our behalf.
[00:05:57] When we do this, we begin to rise above the waves of life,
[00:06:02] not because the problems disappear,
[00:06:05] but because we're no longer trying to handle them on our own.
[00:06:10] Jesus never promised that life would be free of challenges,
[00:06:14] but He did promise to walk with us through every storm.
[00:06:19] Letting go of control and trusting God to lead us through is how we stay afloat.
[00:06:26] Amen, amen.
[00:06:28] Instead of fixating on the problem,
[00:06:31] we must focus on God's provision.
[00:06:34] Remember the times God has been faithful to you in the past.
[00:06:39] Remember how He's provided,
[00:06:41] how He carried you through before.
[00:06:44] If you're under the sound of my voice right now,
[00:06:47] the one thing that we do know is that He's brought you to this point.
[00:06:52] And in Matthew 6 and 26, Jesus reminds us,
[00:06:56] look at the birds of the air.
[00:06:59] They do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
[00:07:03] and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them.
[00:07:06] Are you not much more valuable than they?
[00:07:09] If God provides for the birds,
[00:07:12] how much more will He provide for you, His beloved child?
[00:07:17] When we focus on God's character, His provision and His love,
[00:07:23] our perspective changes.
[00:07:25] We stop feeling like we're drowning,
[00:07:28] and we start seeing that God is already holding us above water.
[00:07:32] His provision is constant, even when we don't see it right away.
[00:07:38] Brothers and sisters,
[00:07:39] even though there are times when things look impossible
[00:07:42] and there's no solution in sight,
[00:07:46] I encourage you to lift your eyes off what's whirring you,
[00:07:50] and focus on the one who promises to carry you through.
[00:07:53] Remember, God is your source.
[00:07:57] He is the one keeping you afloat.
[00:08:00] Trust Him to lead you through,
[00:08:02] and you will find peace even in the midst of life's storms.
[00:08:07] I want to thank you for spending time with us on today.
[00:08:11] I hope you have an awesome weekend,
