[00:00:59] And now, here's Elgin.
[00:01:02] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of our risen Savior, Jesus the Christ,
[00:01:09] to another edition of Words of Inspiration.
[00:01:13] Where we are studying God's word in the series titled, Walk with the Wise,
[00:01:18] a study of the book of Proverbs.
[00:01:21] Through the timeless wisdom of Proverbs, we will explore how to live purposefully
[00:01:26] and align our lives with God's will.
[00:01:30] Our first topic this week is, God is the Source.
[00:01:35] With our key verse coming from Proverbs 4, verse 7, which reads,
[00:01:42] The beginning of wisdom is this,
[00:01:44] Get wisdom, though it costs all you have, get understanding.
[00:01:51] So let's begin by acknowledging that God's word is the ultimate source of knowledge.
[00:01:56] The Bible isn't just a collection of stories or rules.
[00:02:01] It's a living guide that reveals who God is, what he desires for us, and how we should live.
[00:02:08] It gives us the foundational truths we need to navigate life.
[00:02:12] 2 Timothy 3 and 16, reading from the New International Version, reminds us,
[00:02:21] All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.
[00:02:31] Knowledge from God's word equips us to live righteously and understand his plan.
[00:02:36] It's the starting point for any journey toward wisdom.
[00:02:40] But it doesn't end there.
[00:02:42] Simply knowing what the Bible says isn't enough.
[00:02:46] We need to go deeper, which brings us to the next step.
[00:02:52] While knowledge comes from studying scripture, understanding is a gift from the Holy Spirit.
[00:02:58] It's the Holy Spirit who brings clarity to God's word, helping us to see how it applies to our lives and circumstances.
[00:03:06] He reveals deeper meaning, brings conviction, and guides us in truth.
[00:03:13] John 16 and 13 says,
[00:03:16] But when he, the spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.
[00:03:22] Think of understanding as the bridge between knowing and living.
[00:03:27] The Holy Spirit connects the dots, transforming biblical knowledge into personal revelation.
[00:03:34] As we read and meditate on God's word, we should invite the Holy Spirit to teach us, open our eyes, and help us grasp what God is saying.
[00:03:47] Finally, we arrive at wisdom, the practical application of our understanding.
[00:03:54] Wisdom is more than just making good choices.
[00:03:56] It's living in a way that reflects God's will and purpose for our lives.
[00:04:01] It's about taking what we know and understand and putting it into action.
[00:04:09] James 1 and 22 challenges us to do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves.
[00:04:18] Do what it says.
[00:04:20] Wisdom is putting God's truth into practice.
[00:04:23] It's choosing to forgive when it's hard.
[00:04:26] Speaking truth when it's uncomfortable.
[00:04:30] And serving others selflessly.
[00:04:33] It's making a decision rooted in God's principle, even when the world's advice seems more appealing.
[00:04:41] So what does it mean for us to walk with the wise?
[00:04:45] It means recognizing that God is the source of everything we need to live.
[00:04:50] A purposeful and impactful life.
[00:04:54] His word gives us the knowledge we need to start.
[00:04:57] The Holy Spirit provides understanding to guide us.
[00:05:00] And wisdom helps us live out God's will each day.
[00:05:05] As we continue this series in Proverbs, I encourage you to reflect on this.
[00:05:10] Are you seeking knowledge from God's word daily?
[00:05:14] Are you asking the Holy Spirit for understanding?
[00:05:17] And most importantly, are you putting your understanding into action through wise living?
[00:05:24] Brothers and sisters, I thank you for spending time with me on today.
[00:05:28] And remember, wisdom begins with seeking God, understanding his truth and applying them to our lives.
[00:05:38] I look forward to our conversation on tomorrow.
[00:05:42] And until then, God bless.
