When you understand who you are—a child of God, a creator, and an overcomer—you begin to walk through life with confidence. You stop being defined by the trials around you and start defining the world around you through the power God has given you.

[00:00:37] Welcome to the Bible Speaks with your host, Elgin Carelock.

[00:00:42] The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,

[00:00:49] rightly dividing the Word of Truth and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.

[00:00:55] You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast, and now here's

[00:01:01] Elgin.

[00:01:03] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you.

[00:01:06] Whoever you are, wherever you are, and whenever you're listening, to another episode of Words of Inspiration.

[00:01:15] And today, I'm going to have a conversation with you about something that I think we

[00:01:21] as believers sometimes forget. Do you know who you are? Our inspiration comes from Genesis

[00:01:32] chapter one verses 26 to 27, which reads, then God said, let us make mankind in our image,

[00:01:44] in our likeness so that they may rule over the fish and the sea and the birds in the sky,

[00:01:51] over the livestock, in all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.

[00:01:57] So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them.

[00:02:04] Bell and female he created them. This passage lays out one of the most profound truths about our

[00:02:12] identity. We were created in the image of God. But what does that mean for how we live?

[00:02:21] How does this impact the way we navigate the trials of life?

[00:02:26] Let's take a deeper look into what it means to recognize who you are and how being made in the

[00:02:33] image of God empires us to be creators overcomers and rulers of our circumstances.

[00:02:42] The Bible says that we were created in God's image and likeness. This isn't just about how we look,

[00:02:48] but more about who we are at our core. We are reflections of God's creative power,

[00:02:56] intelligence and authority. We are meant to think, create and build just as God does.

[00:03:05] Think about this for a moment. God, the ultimate creator, made the entire universe with his words,

[00:03:12] and then he made us in his image. That means you too are a creator. You have the power to

[00:03:21] create solutions, new beginnings, and possibilities even in the face of trials.

[00:03:30] When you truly understand this, you begin to realize that you're not bound by your circumstances.

[00:03:36] You're not helpless in the face of challenges. You have God's creative spirit within you,

[00:03:42] and that means you can think, plan and act in ways that brings about change and growth.

[00:03:50] Genesis 1, verse 28, goes on to say that God blessed us and gave us the mandate to subdue

[00:03:57] the earth and have dominion over it. To subdue means to overcome, to bring under control,

[00:04:05] to have dominion means to rule, or have authority. That means when trials and challenges come,

[00:04:14] we are supposed to just endure them. We're supposed to subdue them. You were created with

[00:04:21] the authority to rise above trials of this life, not to be crushed by them. This doesn't

[00:04:27] mean that life will be without hardship, but it does mean that you have the power to face those

[00:04:33] hardships with the confidence that God has equipped you with the strength, wisdom,

[00:04:39] and imagination to overcome them. When you know who you are in God, trials become opportunities.

[00:04:48] Their chances to apply the authority you've been given to overcome.

[00:04:54] One of the biggest misconceptions we fall into is believing that our current situation defines

[00:05:00] who we are. But the truth is, we are not defined by our trials. We're defined by our creator.

[00:05:09] Jesus said in John 16 and 33, in this world you will have trouble. But take heart

[00:05:17] I have overcome the world. If we were created in God's image and we have his authority,

[00:05:25] that means we too can overcome. We're not bound by the limitations of this world,

[00:05:31] or the obstacles we face. We are empowered by God to rise above.

[00:05:38] When you remember that you were created to have dominion, you stopped being a victim of your

[00:05:44] circumstances. Instead, you become a creator of new possibilities. You see challenges as opportunities

[00:05:51] to exercise your authority and walk in a purpose God has given you. So how do we live out this

[00:05:59] truth? How do we walk in the reality of being created in God's image? It starts with renewing your mindset.

[00:06:10] Instead of seeing life's challenges as things that hold you back, start seeing the

[00:06:15] best things you were meant to conquer. Tap into the creator's spirit within you and look for ways

[00:06:21] to rise above. Pray, seek God's wisdom and trust that He has given you everything you need to

[00:06:30] overcome. Brothers and sisters, when you understand who you are, a child of God, a creator,

[00:06:38] and an over-cover, you begin to walk through life with confidence. You stop being defined

[00:06:45] by trials around you and start defining the world around you through the power of God and the

[00:06:52] power He has given you. So let me ask you, do you know who you are? You're not just a person struggling

[00:07:00] through life. You are made in the image of God. You are a creator, you are a ruler and you have the

[00:07:09] power to overcome whatever life throws at you. I thank you for spending time with me on today.

[00:07:17] I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to our conversation on Sunday.
