[00:00:59] And now, here's Elgin.
[00:01:02] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
[00:01:09] to another episode of Words of Inspiration
[00:01:12] and the first episode of our new series, The Christian Entrepreneur.
[00:01:18] And today, we're diving into a foundational truth for anyone seeking to honor God through their business.
[00:01:26] This episode is titled, Created to Create.
[00:01:32] And our inspiration comes from Ephesians 2, verse 10.
[00:01:38] And reading from the New International Version, it reads,
[00:01:42] For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
[00:01:48] which God prepared in advance for us to do.
[00:01:53] As believers, we are made in the image of God, the ultimate creator.
[00:01:58] This means that we too are called to create with purpose, care, and excellence.
[00:02:06] When you have an idea for a business, it's not just about making money.
[00:02:10] It's about asking, how does this product or service please God and serve people with integrity?
[00:02:18] So today, we'll explore how to approach entrepreneurship through the lens of creation, inspired by Genesis chapter 1.
[00:02:28] Let's start at the very beginning, literally.
[00:02:32] Genesis 1, verses 1 through 31, shows us how God created the heavens and the earth, methodically shaping everything with purpose and care.
[00:02:43] Each day of creation demonstrates intentionality, structure, and excellence.
[00:02:50] God didn't rush through the process.
[00:02:52] He took his time to ensure that everything was good.
[00:02:57] As Christian entrepreneurs, this is our model.
[00:03:01] Whether you're developing a product, launching a service, or building a brand, your work should reflect the same intentionality and care that God used in creation.
[00:03:12] Think about these questions.
[00:03:15] Is my business idea aligned with God's principles?
[00:03:19] Does it serve people with fairness and excellence?
[00:03:23] Am I building something that glorifies God?
[00:03:28] Genesis 1, verses 26 through 27, reminds us that we are made in God's image.
[00:03:36] Which means we are called to reflect his creativity and love in everything we do.
[00:03:43] One of the key takeaways from Genesis chapter 1 is that creation wasn't chaotic.
[00:03:50] It was organized and intentional.
[00:03:53] God didn't create everything all at once.
[00:03:56] Instead, he worked in stages, establishing order and purpose with each step.
[00:04:04] As an entrepreneur, you're also called to approach your business methodically.
[00:04:09] Here's how.
[00:04:11] Day 1.
[00:04:12] Lay the foundation.
[00:04:15] Just as God created light to separate day from night, start by clarifying your vision.
[00:04:21] What problem does your business solve?
[00:04:24] How does it bring value to others?
[00:04:27] Without a clear foundation, your business won't have direction.
[00:04:32] Day 2.
[00:04:34] Create structure.
[00:04:36] God created the sky to separate the waters, bringing order to chaos.
[00:04:41] In the same way, you need to create a structure for your business.
[00:04:45] This includes your mission, values, and goals.
[00:04:49] These elements will guide your decisions and keep you grounded.
[00:04:55] Days 3-6.
[00:04:57] Build with purpose.
[00:05:00] As God filled the earth with plants, animals, and humanity, he did so with diversity and intention.
[00:05:07] Your business should also reflect variety and purpose.
[00:05:10] Focus on serving different needs while staying true to your core mission.
[00:05:17] Day 7.
[00:05:18] Rest and reflect.
[00:05:21] Finally, God rested on the seventh day.
[00:05:24] Not because he was tired, but to reflect on what he had created.
[00:05:29] As a Christian entrepreneur, take time to pause, evaluate, and ensure that your work is aligned with God's purpose.
[00:05:39] As you build your business, remember that your work isn't just about you.
[00:05:44] It's about glorifying God and serving others.
[00:05:48] Ephesians 2 and 10 reminds us that we are created for good works, which means our businesses should reflect God's goodness in every interaction.
[00:05:59] Proverbs 22 and 1, reading from the New International Version says,
[00:06:05] A good name is more desirable than great riches.
[00:06:09] To be esteemed is better than silver or gold.
[00:06:13] Your reputation as a business owner matters.
[00:06:17] Serve your customers and clients with integrity, fairness, and excellence.
[00:06:22] Treat your employees and partners with respect.
[00:06:25] When you operate with Godly principles, you not only honor God, but also build a business that people trust and respect.
[00:06:35] So if you're wondering how to practically apply these principles, here are some steps to guide you.
[00:06:42] Number one, pray for guidance.
[00:06:46] Before starting or growing your business, seek God's wisdom.
[00:06:50] Ask him to reveal his purpose for your work.
[00:06:54] Number two, evaluate your idea.
[00:06:57] Consider whether your business aligned with God's principles.
[00:07:01] Does it promote fairness, honesty, and service to others?
[00:07:06] Number three, plan with intention.
[00:07:09] Just as God created with order and purpose.
[00:07:14] Take the time to plan your business methodically.
[00:07:17] Write a mission statement.
[00:07:19] Set goals and create a roadmap for success.
[00:07:23] Number four, commit to excellence.
[00:07:27] Strive to do everything with excellence as if you were working for God himself.
[00:07:33] Colossians 3 and 23 reminds us, whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.
[00:07:39] As working for the Lord, not for human masters.
[00:07:44] And number five, reflect and adjust.
[00:07:48] Regularly evaluate your business to ensure it's aligned with God's will.
[00:07:53] Be willing to make changes if necessary.
[00:07:58] Remember that being a Christian entrepreneur is about more than just running a business.
[00:08:03] It's about reflecting God's character as a creator.
[00:08:07] When you build with care, integrity, and love, you're not just creating a business.
[00:08:12] You're creating something that glorifies God and serves his people.
[00:08:19] Genesis 1 and 31 says, God saw all that he had made and it was very good.
[00:08:25] Let this be the standard for your work, that it is very good.
[00:08:30] Not because of how much profit it makes, but because of how much it pleases God and blesses others.
[00:08:38] Brothers and sisters, if this message has inspired you, share it with someone who's starting or growing their business.
[00:08:45] And remember, you were created to create.
[00:08:48] So build something that glorifies God and serves his people with excellence.
[00:08:54] I thank you for spending time with me on today.
[00:08:57] And I look forward to our time together on tomorrow.
[00:09:00] Until then, God bless.
