[00:00:37] Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host, Elgin Carelock.
[00:00:42] The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,
[00:00:49] rightly dividing the word of truth, and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.
[00:00:55] You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast.
[00:00:59] And now, here's Elgin.
[00:01:02] Brothers and Sisters, I welcome you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit
[00:01:10] to another episode of Words of Inspiration.
[00:01:13] And I'm excited to begin our new series, Children of the Light.
[00:01:19] In this series we'll explore what it means to reflect God's truth and righteousness in every aspect of our lives.
[00:01:28] Today's episode is titled, As for me and my house..., and it's inspired by 1 Timothy,
[00:01:36] chapter 3, verses 4-5.
[00:01:40] And reading from the New International Version, it reads,
[00:02:01] This verse highlights a powerful truth.
[00:02:05] If we are to please God and serve others, we must begin at home.
[00:02:10] Our households are the first mission field God entrusts us to.
[00:02:15] So let's explore how we can lead our families in a way that honors God and reflects His light to the world.
[00:02:23] Our homes are where our faith is first tested and lived out.
[00:02:27] The way we lead our families set the tone for how we impact the world around us.
[00:02:33] Joshua 24 and 15, reading from the New International Version, declares,
[00:02:40] But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
[00:02:46] This commitment begins with a decision to make God the center of our homes.
[00:02:52] It's not about attending church on Sundays.
[00:02:55] It's about modeling a life of faith, prayer, and obedience every day.
[00:03:01] As parents, spouses, or guardians, we are called to be stewards of our households.
[00:03:08] This means treating our families as gifts from God, with the understanding that our leadership carries eternal significance.
[00:03:17] One of our greatest responsibilities is to guide our children in the relationship with God.
[00:03:24] This doesn't happen by chance.
[00:03:26] It requires intentionality and consistency.
[00:03:30] Ephesians 6 and 4 reads,
[00:03:33] Fathers, do not exasperate your children.
[00:03:37] Instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
[00:03:42] This means teaching our children biblical principles, modeling Christian-like behavior, and correcting them when they stray.
[00:03:52] Discipline is a vital part of this process, but it must be done with love and patience.
[00:03:59] Proverbs 22 and 6 reminds us,
[00:04:03] Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.
[00:04:10] When we invest in their spiritual growth, we set them on a path that leads to a lasting relationship with God.
[00:04:19] Our families are not just responsibilities.
[00:04:22] They are gifts from God.
[00:04:24] When we view our households through this lens, it changes how we lead and care for them.
[00:04:31] Psalm 127 and 3 reads,
[00:04:35] Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him.
[00:04:42] As stewards, we must prioritize their well-being, provide for their needs, and create an environment where they can thrive spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
[00:04:54] This stewardship also includes addressing challenges within the family.
[00:04:59] When correction or guidance is needed, we must not shy away from those difficult conversations.
[00:05:06] Proverbs 13 and 24 tells us,
[00:05:10] Whoever spares the rise hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.
[00:05:18] Discipline, when done with love and wisdom, is an act of care that helps our families grow in character and faith.
[00:05:28] Leadership in the home requires more than giving instructions.
[00:05:32] It demands that we live out the values we teach.
[00:05:36] Our actions often speak louder than our words.
[00:05:41] Titus 2 and 7 reminds us that in everything, set them an example.
[00:05:47] Discipline is an example of a great lesson.
[00:05:47] How to experience this for your children, by doing what is good.
[00:05:50] Whether it's showing kindness, practicing forgiveness, or living with integrity, our families need to see Christ reflected in us.
[00:06:02] Hypocrisy can undermine everything we teach.
[00:06:05] When we fail to live according to God's principles, it's important to acknowledge our mistakes and seek forgiveness.
[00:06:12] This humility strengthens relationships and sets a powerful example of God's grace.
[00:06:20] When we lead our households well, the impact extends beyond our families.
[00:06:25] A strong Christian-centered home becomes a beacon of light in the community.
[00:06:31] Matthew 5 and 16 tells us,
[00:06:34] Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
[00:06:42] By leading with love, integrity, and faith, we inspire others to pursue God and create a ripple effect of transformation.
[00:06:53] Our homes can serve as a foundation for building strong communities, influencing society, and expanding God's kingdom.
[00:07:04] Brothers and sisters, I want to encourage you to embrace the responsibility of leading your home.
[00:07:11] God has entrusted you with your family, and he calls you to steward it with love, wisdom, and faith.
[00:07:19] Remember, leadership begins at home.
[00:07:22] 1 Timothy 3 verses 4 through 5 reminds us that managing our households well is a reflection of our ability to serve others and glorify God.
[00:07:34] By raising our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, stewarding our families as gifts, and leading by example, we fulfill our calling as children of light.
[00:07:48] If today's message has inspired you, share it with someone who needs encouragement in their role as a family leader.
[00:07:56] And as you go through this week, commit to saying,
[00:08:00] As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
[00:08:05] I thank you for spending time with me on today, and I look forward to our conversation on tomorrow.
[00:08:11] Until then, God bless.
