[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Elgin.
[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of our risen Savior Jesus Christ
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: to another edition of Words of Inspiration.
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Where we've explored the timeless truths of Scripture and how they apply to our daily lives.
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And today, we're diving into a topic that challenges not to just talk to talk, but walk
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_01]: to walk.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Our spiritual inspiration comes from the book of Titus, specifically chapters 1 and 2.
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Where the apostle Paul outlines what it means to live out our faith in the way that
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: honest guide and impacts the world around us.
[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_01]: In Titus chapter 1, Paul begins by addressing importance of leadership within the church.
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: He instructs Titus to appoint elders in every town, emphasizing that these leaders must be
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: the same as faithful to their families and committed to sound doctrine.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Paul describes the quality of God's leadership as self-control, upright, holy and disciplined.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: These are not just characteristics to admire their qualities to embody.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But the message isn't just for church leaders.
[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Paul's instructions to Titus remind us that anyone who claims to follow Christ must live a
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: life that reflects the teachings of their gospel.
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's easy to say we believe, but our actions are what truly demonstrate our faith.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Integrity is essential.
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Whether we're leading a church or our workplace or even our homes, we're called to walk
[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: in a way that is consistent with our beliefs.
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Paul is clear that leaders must hold firmly to the trustworthy message of the gospel
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: so that they can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_01]: This means that we must be grounded in the truth of God's Word, allowing it to shape
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_01]: our lives and guide our decisions.
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: As we move into Titus chapter 2, Paul shifts his focus from leadership to the broader Christian
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: community, emphasizing the importance of sound doctrine and godly living for everyone.
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Older men, older women, younger men, young men, and even slaves.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: This message is clear our faith should be evident in every aspect of our lives.
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Paul instructs Titus to teach what is appropriate, encouraging people to be temperate, dignify,
[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_01]: self-control and sound in faith, love and endurance.
[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_01]: He highlights the importance of good works, not as a means of earning salvation, but as
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_01]: a natural outflow of the life transformed by grace.
[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_01]: In Titus chapter 2 verses 7 through 8, reading from the NIV, Paul writes,
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: in everything, set them an example by doing what is good.
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: In your teaching, showing integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about you.
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Here Paul emphasizes the power of a good example.
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: We're called to live in such a way that our lives reflect the truth of the gospel,
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: making it attractive to others.
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: When we walk the walk, our actions back up our words and our lives become a testimony
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_01]: to the power of God's grace.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Throughout these chapters, Paul weaves together the importance of sound doctrine in godly living.
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not enough to simply know the truth.
[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: We must also live it out.
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_01]: This means allowing the teachings of the scripture to shape our character, guide our decisions
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and influence our interactions with others.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Living on our faith is always easy.
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_01]: It requires discipline, self-control, and a commitment to the values of the kingdom of God.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Even when they run counter to the values of the world.
[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_01]: But when we choose to walk in the way of the Lord, we become beacons of light in a dark world,
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_01]: pointing others to hope and salvation found in Christ.
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Paul's message to Titus is a powerful reminder that our faith is not just a set of beliefs,
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_01]: but a way of life.
[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a call to integrity, to good works and life that reflects the transformative power of the gospel.
[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Brothers and sisters as we reflect on the word of Paul to Titus,
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: let's be challenged to walk the walk.
[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's commit to living lives of integrity grounded in sound doctrine and marked by good works.
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's be the kind of people whose actions speak louder than our words.
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Whose lives are a testimony to the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Remember, the world is watching when we walk in the way of the Lord, we not only on a guide,
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: but we also draw others to Him.
[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's make our lives a reflection of the gospel.
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Living on our faith in a way that brings glory to God and transformation to those around us.
