[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host, Elgin Carelock.

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_00]: rightly dividing the Word of Truth and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast,

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and now here's Elgin.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_01]: to another edition of Words of Inspiration where we delve deeply into the transformative power of Scripture

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and how it can shape our everyday lives.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And today we are focusing on a crucial aspect of our faith, putting the Word in action.

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Our inspiration comes from the book of James, specifically James chapter 1,

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: which challenges us to move beyond merely hearing God's Word to actually living it out.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_01]: James chapter 1 verse 22 is a verse that should resonate deeply with every believer

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and it reads, do not merely listen to the Word and so deceive yourselves.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Do what it says.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_01]: This verse is a call to action, urging us not to be passive listeners but active doers.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: It's easy to listen to a sermon, read a Bible verse, or hear an inspirational message

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and feel moved in the moment.

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: But James warns us that if we stop there, if we only hear the Word without letting it change our actions,

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_01]: we deceive ourselves.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: True faith is not just about absorbing information, it's about transformation.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And transformation requires action.

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_01]: James uses the analogy of a person who looks at their face in the mirror

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and then immediately forget what they look like.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what happens when we hear God's Word but fail to apply it.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: We miss the opportunity for growth, for change, and for living out the purpose God has for us.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_01]: James doesn't just issue a challenge, he also highlights the blessing that comes from being a doer of God's Word.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: In James 1 and 25 we read,

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Notice that James refers to God's Word as the perfect law that gives freedom.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: This might seem paradoxical at first, how can a law give freedom?

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But the truth is when we align ourselves with God's Will,

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_01]: we experience true freedom.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_01]: We are free from the bondage of sin, from the anxiety of trying to control everything,

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and from the emptiness that comes from living apart from God's purpose.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: The blessing isn't just in knowing the Word, it's in doing it.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: When we apply God's teaching in our lives, whether it's in our relationships, our job,

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: or personal conduct, we experience the fullness of His blessings.

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: We grow in our faith, we impact those around us and we draw closer to God.

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So how do we put the Word into action in our daily lives?

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Here are a few practical steps.

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Start small and be consistent.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not about making drastic change overnight.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Begin applying one teaching from the Bible to your life each week.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It could be showing kindness to a difficult coworker,

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: forgiving someone who's wrong you, or being more generous with your time and resources.

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Reflect and respect.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: After reading a passage of Scripture, take a moment to reflect on how it applies to your current situation.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Ask yourself, what is God calling me to do in response to this Word?

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Then take a concrete step to act on it.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Seek accountability.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Share your commitment to living out the Word of God with a trusted friend or small group.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_01]: They can offer support, encouragement and gentle reminders to stay on track.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Pray for guidance.

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Ask God to help you not just understand His Word but to live it out.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Pray for strength and courage to act on what you know is right, even when it's difficult.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And finally, celebrate progress.

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Recognize and celebrate the small victories along the way.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Each step of obedience brings you closer to the person God created you to be.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Brothers and sisters, the Word of God is living and active,

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's meant to be alive in us as well.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_01]: James 1 challenges us not to stop at hearing or knowing God's Word,

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: but to let it move us to action.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's in the doing that our faith becomes real, that we grow

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and that we experience the true blessings of living in God's will.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So today I encourage you to take a step, any step, toward putting the Word into action in your life.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Whether it's a small act of kindness, a moment of forgiveness or commitment to integrity,

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: let's be doers of the Word, not just hearers.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I thank you for spending time with me on today,

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and I look forward to our conversation on tomorrow.

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Until then, God bless.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give you a little example to the corners of the earth.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: If anything you've heard poured into your life, please share it with someone.
