[00:00:27] Welcome to Words of Inspiration with your host and teacher, Elgin Carelock, and now let's hear from Elgin I bring you tidings of great cheer and joy and love from our Savior Jesus Christ Brothers and sisters today, I'd like to talk to you in our brief time together
[00:00:46] About the difference between the problems we have as a result of the enemy or the enemy Let me say that again, are the challenges that we find ourselves in always from the enemy or is it ourselves?
[00:01:04] In Romans chapter 7 Paul writes about how we were born into sin and that sin nature has to be kept under check Because in of itself it will always lead to sin. In verse 14 it reads reading from the English Standard version
[00:01:24] For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am a flesh sold under sin For I do not understand my own actions, for I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate
[00:01:37] Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law that it is good So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me
[00:01:51] That is in my flesh, for I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing
[00:02:05] Now if I do what I do not want, is it no longer I who do it? But sin that dwells within me. So that is not an excuse for us to continue to do the things that are not pleasing to the Lord
[00:02:22] But rather an admonition for us to understand that when sin came into the existence of man, that it has its own agenda That we must choose to follow what we have been taught as followers of Jesus Christ, that we must everyday make an effort
[00:02:45] To look past those things that so easily be set us, that we do not allow the influence of the world
[00:02:53] It changed the expectations that we have of ourselves, our role in the will of God and our responsibilities to our family and those that we encounter on a daily basis
[00:03:08] We understand that our flesh knows everything that we like and there are times when it will try to overrule what you know is right It will try to talk you into doing things that are counter to what you know is pleasing to God
[00:03:27] Some of those things are overcome through prayer, fasting, meditation, reading and studying in the Word of God It is feeding that into our consciousness as human beings that allows us to have the fortitude to resist those things that may happen to us naturally
[00:03:46] While allowing us the opportunity to turn from different things and then pray to the Lord to give us strength to remove those tastes, to remove those lusts of the eyes, lusts of the flesh and pride of life
[00:04:02] We are more than conquerors and the Lord has given us strength to withstand great things and great things that he expects us to accomplish as a result So brothers and sisters I say be strong, be encouraged and understand that God loves you I'm coming home
