[00:00:00] Let us pray, pray together on our knees, let us pray, pray together on our knees And I fall for my knees with my face to the rise in sun, O Lord, O Lord, help us in honor me

[00:00:27] Welcome to Words of Inspiration with your host and teacher, Elgin Carelock. Now let's hear from Elgin. During my wife and I study time, she asked me the question, what is the difference between faith and trust?

[00:00:44] So I thought that would be a great topic for our Words of Inspiration for today. Hebrews 11 and one is a very, very familiar passage to us as a definition of faith. It says, now faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.

[00:01:04] Romans 10 and 17 says, so then faith comeeth by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So if we take faith first, we can see that the substance of things hope for as the realization that God's promises are real, that what He said to us will happen.

[00:01:31] As long as we are obedient and follow what Jesus taught us in a New Testament and what the prophets and judges all spoke of in the Old Testament. Faith is the foundation by which we have hope simply because faith means is an earnest expectation.

[00:01:52] We truly, truly have the expectation that what God said will indeed happen. And so through that faith, we have the ability to believe in as we spoke of earlier this week and things that are not seen.

[00:02:10] And since we have the assurance that God doesn't lie, it gives us the boldness to believe and have an expectation that God will do with God's said He will do. So when we consider Romans 10, 17 where it reads, faith comeeth by hearing,

[00:02:35] then that happens on multiple ways, doesn't it? Hearing can come from a sermon that you hear whether it's in person or online, but hearing also comes from the Holy Spirit. And that speaking usually comes in the form of an enlightenment or a revelation and sometimes even some admonition

[00:02:59] to keep you from saying some things that maybe you should. But it is that faith that will now move in your human existence to trust, because when we consider trust, you've heard the expression that trust is earned.

[00:03:17] While God doesn't have to earn anything because He's do everything and everything belongs to Him. As human beings, we begin to trust God more as He delivers us through our trials and tribulations. The word tells us that many are the afflictions of the righteous,

[00:03:38] but God delivers Him out of the mall. And as we recognize that deliverance, in trust and soes, Proverbs 3, 5 and 6 reads, trust in the Lord with all that heart and lean on to God understanding. In all that ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct that path.

[00:04:01] So brothers and sisters, I hope that you will take this as an invitation to join the discussion about the difference between faith and trust. You can contact me on social media, on our Facebook page, and I look forward to talking to you soon. God bless.
