[00:00:00] Let us pray, Grant together on our knees. Let us pray, Grant together on our knees.

[00:00:13] When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun, O Lord, ever see all the meek.

[00:00:26] Welcome to Words of Inspiration with your host and teacher, Elgin Carelock.

[00:00:31] And now let's hear from Elgin.

[00:00:33] Pleasant Assisted, I welcome you in the name of Jesus the Christ to another day that the Lord has made.

[00:00:40] And we shall rejoice and be glad in it.

[00:00:43] On Sunday, I talked about personal growth and how we must improve our proficiency in mindset, skill set and toolkit

[00:00:53] in order to be in line with the ability to accomplish God's purpose in our lives.

[00:00:58] Today, I wanted to revisit that conversation and talk on this subject of skill set.

[00:01:04] When I speak of skill set, it's what do I need to know in order to be fully used by God?

[00:01:11] Romans 12 verse 1 reads,

[00:01:13] I besiege you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

[00:01:25] Skill set in the context of doing the work of God first is about stewardship taking care of what God has placed in your hands right now.

[00:01:36] Through the stewardship, we understand that everything belongs to God.

[00:01:41] And if we were to treat everything that we are given, everything that we earn and even our wives and our children like they belong to God,

[00:01:53] we will have a totally different mindset as we interact.

[00:01:58] And it is why in our conversation on Sunday, I spoke about emotional intelligence and relational intelligence because they are tools that we use to make sure that we are properly stewarding everything that God places in our hands.

[00:02:14] And that's also why the Scripture tells us to whom much is given, much is required.

[00:02:20] And that requirement is for us to be mindful that it belongs to God.

[00:02:26] I don't care what it is.

[00:02:28] We must understand that when he places it in our hands, that we have to give it as much attention as it would be if he were standing in front of us.

[00:02:39] What we have to understand is that stewardship is actually a form of worship and it brings God glory when we take care of everything that he gives us as the precious gift that it is.

[00:02:53] That includes our health, that includes our ability to provide for our families and ourselves, and it includes our interactions with those who need help.

[00:03:04] So when we are good stewards, we improve our skill set not in the sense of our vocation but in the sense of our ability to be used by God.

[00:03:16] Another aspect of building your skill set is prayer.

[00:03:20] Prayer is a conduit and a connection between you and God.

[00:03:24] It's not that you are going to bring God something that he doesn't already know, as it is an opportunity for you to spend time with the Father, to share it with the Father those things that are on your heart.

[00:03:37] But more importantly that you stop and take the time to hear from Him.

[00:03:43] God asks His prayers all of the time. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it's snow and just as in the case of what I am sharing with you today, the answer is grow.

[00:03:54] So we have to take the time to pray the guide for clarity, to pray the guide for consistency and to open up the line of communication that the Holy Spirit may be able to work through you in order to bless others.

[00:04:12] Brothers and sisters, I am always thrilled to take the time and share the Word of God with you. And I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. God bless.

[00:04:21] I have wandered far away from God. Now I am coming home.
