[00:00:00] Welcome to the Bible Speaks with Elgin Carelock. The Bible Speaks is a weekly ministry of harvest international. Our prayer is that the Bible speaks for encourage you in your study of God's Word.

[00:00:38] You will be able to contact Elgin at the address given at the end of this broadcast. And now here's Elgin. Having my wife of 38 years joined me on the show and we're going to speak on the subject of get up.

[00:01:10] Our spiritual inspiration comes from John chapter 5 verses 5 through 8 and reading from the English standard version it reads, one man was there who had been an embellished for 38 years. When Jesus saw Him lying there and knew that He had already been there a long time, He said

[00:01:35] to Him, do you want to be healed? The sick man answered them, sir I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up and while I'm going another step down before me.

[00:01:52] Jesus said to Him, get up, take up your bed and walk. As a nurse I would define invalid as someone with limitations or inability to perform certain functions due to illness or injury. However, a spiritual invalid shows the following traits, feels helpless and hopeless.

[00:02:18] Much like the man at the pool of Bethesda who felt helpless and without hope for healing a spiritually invalid person may feel stuck in their spiritual condition, believing that change or improvement is impossible. For example, get in in judges 613.

[00:02:41] Get in and get in said to Him, please my Lord, if the Lord is with us why then has all this happened to us and where are all his wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted

[00:02:55] to us saying, did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt but now the Lord has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Median. What's amazing to me is you have a miracle standing right in front of you and angel,

[00:03:14] but he still doubted and believed his problem was bigger than God. Another of the traits of a spiritually invalid person is being dependent on external solutions. The man in the story relied on the pool for healing, symbolizing how people often depend

[00:03:36] on rituals and traditions or external means to achieve spiritual well-being. The story of the sizes that true healing and spiritual renewal come directly from Jesus. So I want to ask you, do we sometimes look to external things like our pastor, priest

[00:03:58] or church elder to deliver a spiritual solution when we can go to Jesus ourselves? Call spoke to the external tradition of circumcision in Galatians 5 verse 6 which reads, for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor circumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

[00:04:27] So if we have a direct access to Jesus, we don't need a pool. We don't need an external person who can deliver our spiritual solution when we are engranted into the family. We are part of the royal priesthood and we can access Jesus ourselves.

[00:04:50] Being spiritually invalid refers to a state of spiritual paralysis or incapacity, characterized by lack of vitality, entangle men in sin, feelings of helplessness, reliance on ineffective solutions and a need for divine intervention. Brothers and sisters, by commanding the man to get up, Jesus demonstrates his divine authority

[00:05:22] over illness and physical limitations. The man had been an invalid for 38 years. A condition that seemed hopeless and permanent. Jesus' command shows that he has the power to heal instantly and completely, reinforcing his identity as the Son of God.

[00:05:44] So no matter what it is that you're going through and how insurmountable it may feel, I want to leave you with a simple thought. You can feel sorry for yourself, you can allow it to pull you into anxiety and fear and doubt or you can get up.

[00:06:04] So I thank you again for spending this time with us and I look forward to speaking with you again on Sunday and until then God bless. This program is cared for by listeners who care, your prayers and financial investment in this
